Sticking To A Routine And My Hair Loves It!!!

Hi sweet naturals!! Just wanted to give everyone an update on how much your hair loves a routine. I have always found it hard to keep the same routine week in and week out but once I found my signature products this has become much more easier for me to accomplish and my hair would rather have it no other way! So just to catch you ladies up I have maintained soft, shiny, curls by sticking to a weekly deep conditioning bi-weekly wash for the last few months! And I have been doing great with keeping it twisted ALL week (this is new for me) I wash every other Sunday (every other Sunday I just cleanse with vinegar), then deep condition with honey and olive oil, then twist with Cantu leave in, carrot oil spray, along with pure shea butter for the ends of my twists. I leave it twisted all week and then let my curls be free on Friday and Saturday. Depending on how I'm feeling I might wear my twist or braidout for an additional week. I love it and so does my hair!! I have noticed a huge change in how soft and manageable my hair has become. ROUTINE, ROUTINE, ROUTINE...show your hair love and care!!

Twist and Shout

Hello ladies, I am the type of person who loves to look different everyday because I am so into fashion I like to be versitile and my scalp has always been very dry. So for me to keep my hair twisted longer than a week has become a big challenge for me. It seems as though if I keep my hair twisted for more than a week the twists become unattractive along with the huge flakes in my scalp. I want to keep my hair in a protective style and this is my only option because if it is in a twistout I will want to style it more and that will defeat the purpose of having a protective style. A coworker who is also natural suggested that I deep condition my scalp with olive oil, I hope this works because I am really trying to retain length along with healthy hair. Please post suggstions for cute, easy protective styles as well as how to get rid of dry scalp, I would love to have more versitility with them. Thanks ladies! Be yourself, be free, be natural!!!

III Sisters of Nature

Good morning my beautiful naturalista's! I just wanted to let everyone know that for the past year and a half I have been desperately searching for the perfect curl pudding that will give me the curls I want without the shrinkage. I am relieved to say that I finally found it, the local beauty supply that I shop at gave me a sample of III Sisters of Nature Curling Gelo, this is THE BEST product ever!!! It gave me no shrikage, moisture, wonderful scent, and it did not leave my hair flaky and hard. (My son said it smelled like fruit roll ups) I know that everyones hair is different but if you are in search for that product to give you that perfect curl for twists, twisouts, and wash and go's I highly suggest you give it a try! Have a wonderful day ladies. Xoxoxo

Forever Natural

Going natural has been on my mind for about the last five years but I did not build up the courage to actually go through with it until Feb. 7th 2011.  I started my transition December 2010 and became so anxious that by Feb, I was beyond ready to start my natural hair journey. Everyone including my mother and friends were completely against it and told me I would be crazy to chop my hair away for a nappy fro. The night of my bg chop I was just going to wash, shampoo, and style my hair for work, but after  washing I got a pair of scissors and just started cutting away until I had about an inch of hair. It was soooo invigorating, I felt like I was refreshed and even felt empowered that I had finally built up the courage to embrass the real me. I had no idea how to care for my hair so I begin to watch Youtube videos and took it from there. My main products were Mane and Tail shampoo, V05 conditioner, Cantu Shea Butter leave in Ecostyler gel, and olive oil, these were my everyday products.
I am now close to reaching my two year natural mark and I am loving every bit of it, I have inspired two close friends to go natural, one has already did the BC and the other is transitioning now. To me going natural is more than just hair, it is coming to acceptance of yourself, and realizing that beauty is within. I don't feel self concious because this is how God intended for me to be. Many naturals go natural but then continue to wear wigs and sew ins, that is something that I also decided I wold not do. I want to rock my tresses all the time, I have not worn any weave in almost two years and I don't plan on it.
I hope that I as well as other naturals continue to inspire other black women to embrace their natural tresses and understand that if they don't accept themselves the way they are then how can they expect others too. Love and blessings!
