2 MONTHS NATURAL BABY!!!!

SO OVERJOYED AND HAPPY, I PUT TOGETHER A NICE HAIR JOURNEY VIDEO FOR MY YOUTUBE PAGE, IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I REALLY LOOKED AT MY DAILY PITURES AND SAW THE WEEK TO WEEK PROGRESS I MADE. I'M SO HAPPY I TOOK THE PLUNGE. MY BC WAS SO LOW NOW I HAVE HAIR LONG ENOUGH FOR SMALL TTWO STRAND TWISTS. MY REGIMEN IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS THOUGH. I AM USING AFRICAN PRIDE LEAVE IN MOISTURIZSER AS WELL AS ORGANIX COCONUT MILK BREAKAGE SERUM IN MY ROUTINE TO HELP WITH THE DRYNESS AND TO MINIMIZE MY SHEDDY. MY HAIR IS SO STRONG AND WHEN I DETANGLE THERE ARE ONLY A FEW SINGLE COILY STRANDS. THAT IS COMPARED TO WHEN I HAD RELAZER AND MY HAIR WOULD SHED IN CLUMPS.

THAT'S ALL I HAVE FOR NOW =D
UNTIL NEXT TIME <3 CIAO

WE'VE GOT GROWTH!!

It's been two months since my big chop and I am finally seeing the progress. I've decided I won't length check until next month since it will be a quarterly thing for me. I'm so happy my TWA is growing in quite nicely. My staple products haven't changed much I'm still using Suave Naturals conditioner to co-wash with, water and shea butter to moisturize and seal in moisture and I've added African Pride Leave in Moistuiser as well as Organiz Anti Breakage Serum. Seeing my hair grow before my eyes has been me so much more excitement about my hair's potential. I'm not aiming for waist length or anything but a head of long thick hair in a year or 2 would make me very happy. I'm been making youtube videos documenting my attempts at hair maintenance as a new natural. The support I've received is astounding. There are so many women out there willing to share their wisdom and provide helpful tips for every conundrum I face. As for my hair now, it's braided in cornrows. I was going a tad overboard with the treatments to my hair and touching it alot. I figure if I have it tucked away in briads I can't cause any unintentional damage because my hands can't ge to it to manipulate it. I am going to leave the cornrows in for 2 weeks. Seeing it stretched out after will be great. Anyway, that's all for now. =)

Hair Acceptance

I love my hair. It's coarse, porous, thick and untamed.I'm sure with time i will be able to maintain it and have it grown. It's definitely grown since my BC. I'm happy with the progress. I just have to look in the mirror and say this is beautiful.

Developing a Basic Regimen

I picked up some basic essentials for this natural journey. I picked up some raw shea butter from a family friend who does natural hair. I made a quick drugstore run and got some Suave conditioner to co-wash with, some cholestrol to deep condition with, and a small bottle of Herbal Essences shampoo for the days when I need a good wash from product build up. I have edge control already, not that I will need it anytime soon I don't plan on wearing my TWA until I'm 6 months post BC.

I've been wearing a cap overnite on the days I deep condition to trap in moisture and really get the deep condition to work overtime. It leaves my hair and scalp feeling soft and pliable.Anyway, that's all for now.

The Big Chop

So I finally did it. I had a sew in for about 3 months got some new growth and cut the tracks out LOL... I looked a damn mess anyway. I didn't cut it all evenly so there are spotw where you see my scalp. That was October 28, 2012. As of now I am almost 2 weeks natural (from my big chop). I am definitely a 4C, my hair soaks up oil and the only time I have seen a curl pattern was when I washed and conditioned my hair after my big chop. I've been putting flax seed oil on it (it's the only thing I have in the house) but tomorrow and I am headed to the beauty supply to see what I can pick up. I need something to co-wash with as well as a moisturiser. I'm not in love with my hair as of yet but I not devestated it's gone either. My mom couldn't stop laughing when she saw I cut my tracks out. She was laughing to the point of tears. SHe's natural too. I have a couple of sew in wigs I have made becasue I am not used to having no hair. This experience is so new to me. I have been finding comfort in watching the journey of other 4C girls on YouTube. Anyway that's all I have for now. I will probably have more to say once I have some products for my regimen... Until then, Dana... Out LOL
