I'm at the beginning of my hair journey\. I have been transitioning for five months now and im really just trying to see what products work good on my hair and my routine that I need to use. I think I might use the curls unleashed products and go from there. I cowash my hair once a week and shampoo wash my hair once a week as well. My style I have been using now is bantu knots and bantu knot outs. I style them in all kinds of ways. I put no heat what so ever in my hair. I air dry 100 % of the time. I get a bentonite clay mask treatment on my hair at the beinning of every month for a cleansing. I'm still learning things everyday. So far I love my hair journey. I haven't had any problems at all.
Why am I Transitioning?
Why am I'm transitioning? The reason why i chose to start this new hair journey of transitioning is different than most....i got my first relaxer when i was twelve. That is when i wanted my hair to be straight like most of the other girls my age. I had very thick hair and it was a very good length also. I was ready for a change and my mama wanted my hair to be more manageble so that is why i started to get relaxers. I never really had complaints about relaxers other than awful burning pains during the process and the scalp burns left afterwards. It was all worth it in the end when my hair was looking nice....I went all the way through high school and part of college getting relaxers consistently. During my freshman year of college I started see changes in my hair and scalp. I always had a dry itchy scalp but it got drastically worse. I had uncontrollable dry skin every day and my hair was breaking off and became thinner than usual. My mama decided to take me to a dermatologist to see what was going on and that is when i found out i had a scalp condition called seborrheic dermatitis. It is when you have very dry skin and it can cause hair loss if it is not treated properly. So i ws given medicine for my scalp and he suggested that i stop getting relaxers. i took his advice very seriously at first but eventually after a few months i started back getting relaxers because i couldnt handle it. Now that I'm twenty I finally got my hair back thick and healthy, and i dont have to put the medicine for my scalp as often. I just use medicated shampoo every once in a while. Im trying to get my hair completely back on track and its been going well so far. I decided to try transitioning to natural hair again and I love how my natural hair feels and im not finding the transitioning phase bad at all so far. I've been transitioning for 5 months now! :)
