I did my first big chop in the beginning of July, convinced that it would be the end to my damaged hair troubles. After years of flat irons set to 400+ and hundreds of blow drys, my hair is putting up the only fight to go natural. The big chop got rid of 1/3 of my damaged ends, I would of LOVED to go shorter but the fear of resembling my brother got to me. Now it's been 2 heat free months, and some days my hair gives me no trouble at all and others it's dryer then the sahara desert. My mother has absolutely no idea what i'm trying to do, and threatens me with a blow dryer on my worse days. I finally purchased Coconut Oil at Pathmark, warmed it up, and saturated my hair in it as a Pre- POO. I left it in for 45 min, Shampooed my hair twice with sulfate free shampoo and applied some Wen cleansing conditioner as a leave in. The texture of my hair felt weird and it worried me, but once I looked in the mirror. My hair was SHINNY and my curls looked so hydrated and healthy. I got SUPER excited and completely renewed my hope for going natural. Before the end of August and before I return to college I plan on doing another hydrating conditions using: Avocado, Olive Oil, and Honey.
Keeping my fingers crossed for some added moisture.
HOORAY FOR NATURALS!
Curly is, I! I is CURLY!
I am on a long a tedious journey to get my bouncy spiral curls back. This will be a long process and a tough one because my hear isn't the healthiest. But with natural products and deep conditioners galore, I feel I what it takes to do it.
