153/31 – Back from the dead
|
Saturday, December 31, 2011 *sigh* First… can I tell
you how long it took me to figure out the math on this entry's title? LOL.
That’s my punishment for being away so long, I guess. And that’s an appropriate
segue to explain my absence, I guess. Bad
math. Accounting class. Last semester. Good LORD.
It was awful. I thought I was
going to drop out of school. LOL. No lie.
But I survived the course and thankfully I won’t have to take another class
even the least bit similar. Sheesh. It really tested my fortitude and I was
getting all the tutoring and study help that I could – multiple sessions per
week. Between that
class and my job (because our employees decided to act all EXTRA around the
holidays… I have no idea why), I haven’t had much leisure time. So I dropped off the face of blogearth. :( But!!! I’m back. And have been meaning to get back
for a while… but once the semester ended and it didn’t kill me, I was quick to
try catching up on all the stuff I missed while my nose was to the grindstone. I didn’t know how to act when I got a little
freedom. LOL Our good
curlfriend Shelli checked in via email like “Um… are you still alive?” I’m glad she lit the fire under my butt – I needed
some ackright. LOL (So sorry for being incommunicado!!!) On the hair front…
all is quite well. I won’t lie and say
that school (and life in general) didn’t keep me from some of my weekly
regimens. It certainly did. But I’ve made some adjustments that have
allowed me to better manage my curls. So
here’s a recap of some of the developments: Product
mainstays: I’ve cut down
substantially on experimentation for the time being. My daily regimen pretty much consists of
water, Qhemet Cocoa Ghee, and Oyin Whipped Pudding. That’s pretty much it. I still twist at night to keep the tangles at
bay and bun daily for work. I’ve been
using water a lot more than I used to because I was tired of using products to try
to remoisturize all the time. After all
the articles I’ve read about water being the best moisturizer, I don’t know why
it took me so long to heed. I’m fairly
pleased with the response – hydrated, flexible, pliable hair… especially the
ends (which have been doing great since that last trim). Butters-N-Bars: Finally ordered
when they had that Black Friday sale (I think that’s when it was). Ordered some coconut oil, Vatika oil, and got
some free aloe vera gel with my order. Love the coconut oil (but that’s not
really news) and will definitely reorder.
Vatika oil didn’t really WOW me… didn’t see much of a difference from
regular coconut oil use. *shrug* When my last jar of IC Fantasia Gel ran out,
I used the aloe vera gel in its place to smooth back my bun. That’s actually been a good substitution. I may not return to jarred hair gel again. Shazam! Shampoo: Happy 2012 to everyone! I wish you all the best in life, health, and hair in the new year! |

Yea, you did post before the end of 2011;)!! Okay Missy, you know we need a picture!! It's been MONTHS as your 11/7 post didn't have one either!! Girl, your hair is probably "classic" length now!! Your regimen sounds good! So, you and shampoo are done, huh? LOL!! Have you tried diluting any of the lathering shampoos (SLS free or otherwise)? I had that nightmare with SM and JessiCurl full strength. But, when I dilute 1 oz. in 5 oz. of water, it's all good. However, why bother if you aren't using anything with cones. I wouldn't. Your hair loves conditioner, so if it ain't broke!!! Btw, now that I'm a protein convertee, I'm trying to understand how others use it!! Your hair likes protein right? I can't remember! If you use it, how often and what kind (commercial or DIY? I kind of remember that maybe your hair liked a coconut milk homemade recipe?). Welcome back lady:)!! So happy you have returned from the dead with triumph;)!!
