I am a 13 year old girl trying to go natural again and now I understand the importance of taking this big step.
I want to reach BSL.
I was natural for six years before I had my first relaxer. Everything was fine at first and my hair was growing. I then started going to my mom's beautician and my hair gets very short. She said it wasn't healthy. At the time I didn't even notice the big hair difference. In the same beauty shop, I go to a different beautician. She's good for the first few months, but then at age 11, my hair starts to fall out. At that I no I want to go natural. I also wanted to see my natural hair texture because as a baby it was very wavy. I was natural for about a year. I decided my hair took up too much of my time and it was high maintenance. I switched to a texturizer because I thought it would be easier to manage my hair as a child and a student. It started to break off again and get very dry. Many times I didn't know how to take care of it. I started to miss my natural hair and now I have decided to go back. I think this is the best choice for me. I know understand how important it is to be natural and to accept how you are and how god made you. I think this is the best choice for me now as a teenager gaining self-esteem and being happy with how I naturally and not wanting to change anything about me. This will me with and loving for who I am. I'm happy to make this switch and plan to stay natural forever. |
