  • End of an Era...

    End of an Era...

Well... it looks like it's time to bring this blog to a close... not there's been much going on lately anyway.(Plus, it looks as though the blog site has changed... all my pictures are gone)I have to be honest... I just don't have the time to dedicate to keeping up this blog.  I mean, there's work and school and life in general.  I love my hair, but I'm just not doing anything interesting enough to blog about.I *have* been rather lazy with keeping up my routines and I really need to co... Took my twist out and clipped the ends

Well, it has been a while and as I probably mentioned before, every time I cut my hair or take my braids out, my hair texture changes. Which means finding another type of hair conditioner. So far Shea moisture has not failed me. I tried some other new products thinking the natural hair care line of products got better, but no... I am back to my Shea Moisture leave in conditioner. • UniqueKinks Journey

    UniqueKinks Journey

Hi all my fellow Naturalistas! My journey all started out last year, when I finally got tired of being like every one else, along with the "fiery perm" in my head and "I've got burns on my scalp" days. I didn't really know what I was doing at first, all I knew was that I was growing my new growth out. Around the 5th month of my transitioning stage, I began to look at videos on YT  for sew-in ideas. (I kept sew-ins throughout my transition stage.) Then I came across this lady with beautiful natur... Read more »

    One Mixed Up Baby

Hey! allie here, this is bein written on my phone, seriously annoying. But figured i'd talk about my little mullato story.I grew up with my ma, who's a bombshell beauty. 5'11 long luxurious red hair, green eyes, tall lanky long limbs, gorgeous. not like me lol. Don't get me wrong I'm pretty and I know it lol I just happen to be a whole 5'7 (gained an inch this year) thick, big chested, opposite body type than my ma. I grew up the only black kid in all white towns, seriously I was used to being the... Read more »

  • The Hair Milestone: High Poof Ponytail

The Hair Milestone: High Poof Ponytail

This is my first blog post so I will try and keep it short and simple. Due to being of both Dominican and Puertorican decent my hair could literally tell the story of my heritage. I have 3C/4A and some 2C ringlets all over my head. I have dry and tangled hair at my crown which is where I experience the most breakage unfortunately. The state of my hair now although I have been natural since July 23, 2010 (my bday) is pretty sad because I do not know how to find the time to take care of it. So to ... Read more »

  • Long Time Coming: Updates

    Long Time Coming: Updates

Hello Lovlies!I haven't been on here in a good minute and for that I apologize. But while I'm here, I want to give you guys some updates.I relaxed my hair December 14, 2011 in an attempt to "spot" the split ends better so that I could cut them out and not have a TWA. The plan was to cut off all the damage and still be able to rock a manageable style, but that didn't work out as planned. I managed to cut out all the splits and pieces that were mangled from heat damage, but since I hadn't had a re... Read more »

  • HERE IT IS!!

    HERE IT IS!!

I have been enjoying this blog. While writing about hair, skin, oils, etc. I found something I enjoy doing! I started making soaps. I've learned so much about oils, what my skin loves- and doesn't. I told my friends about it and they all suggested I start selling them. Well, I've done like upselling at my job, but I've never tried selling things before. Any advise on ways or options in this arena?? Anyone currently with an online marketplace??I mean---who sells soaps?? Sounds different... Read more »

  • The Big Chop... or Chop in Pieces?

The Big Chop... or Chop in Pieces?

Yep, you saw correctly... My natural hair journey was more or less accidental. I had been natural until I was 17, once again at age 21 and again in 2009. However, I never really cared for my hair,I just knew it grew. The End. This time around I was stressed, upset and needed a change. I hadnt had a relaxer since October 2011 and I just decided to cut my hair, which i did rather unevenly. I braided it until February 2012. Fast forward until the beginning of March 2012, I got m...
