  • Natural Newbie NO NO!!!

    Natural Newbie NO NO!!!

So, I get the bright idea to straighten my hair. My friend and I were so fascinated at the length of my hair while straightening it as well as the whole process of turning my lovely fro, that had just gotten to a length that I was really loving, might I add, into a straightened mess. I only kept it straightened (flat ironed) for a couple of days. I thought it might be a welcomed change, but I really was mistaken. I wash my hair thinking that my hair was immediately gonna return to my natura... Read more »

  • Where do we begin?

    Where do we begin?

Hey! So I've gotten it now; No silicones, no sulfates, mosturize. But I have one question:Where do I begin? When  I was young I have tried ripping a brush through my hair, straightened it everyday, and pulled it so tight my eyes turned upward. And now I realize my huge mistake. So now, nursing my hair back to health may take a while. I like to experiment. See what works for my hair. See what doesnt. But I have a horrible habit: I always use way to much hair product. For example, a ... Read more »

  • Myths N Realities about Wash N Go Hair

Myths N Realities about Wash N Go Hair

Over at CurlTalk I see a lot of women asking for "Wash N Go" hair. They want to enhance their curl, but they don't want to have to work at it. And who can blame them? We all have so much going on in our lives, and some things seem like they should just be simple. And daily hair styles seems like one of those things. (Special event hair styles are another thing entirely.)To me, enhancing your curl is like wearing make up. Do you have to do it? Of course not. You don't have to wear make up and you... Read more »

  • The Beginning.

    The Beginning.

My avatar shows my curls after one week of following CG. Once I've figured out how to upload pictures here I'll try to find a "before" - but take my word for it, it's a HUGE difference. I've been paying attention to what my hair needs and trying to figure out different kinds of products. Right now I am using one of L'Oreal's sulfate free shampoos, Pantene Hydrating Curls conditioner, Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel and a John Frieda Frizz Erase Smoothing Creme. So far the only thing I'm not sold o... Read more »

  • Second Day Hair! Say What???

    Second Day Hair! Say What???

Believe it girls! I achieved for real, for real second day hair! (See image above) I woke up this morning, did a little smoothing, scrunching and fluffing then out the door! I haven't been able to do this in like all of my curly career! I'm pretty sure the reason I couldn't get it before was because I was still living by my straight hair rules, as in, too much product would equal a greasy mess. Every article I've read on NC.com has said that curly hair is drier and requires more product, I guess... Read more »

My great product find- Marula OIl

Throughout my years of looking for a good scalp oil for my curly hair, I have yet to find a scalp oil that reaped the benefits that Marula Oil has on my hair and scalp.  I personally use Motions hair and scalp oil because it is very moisturizing ( which is essential for healthy hair growth). Since using it ive seen almost no breakage when combing, washing, and even heat styling my hair. So i definitly recommend that anyone with a curly hair type to use it. The only drawback is that its... Read more »
