  • I need curl definition

    I need curl definition

My hair has about four different textures, and the back is defined, but the front isn't. I co-wash every two days with the vo5 Blackberry Sage Tea Therapy Revitalizing Conditioner, or the kiwi herbal escapes. I wash my hair once a week with Ion Keratin Smoothing Shampoo. Before I started co-washing or using a sulfate free shampoo, I used to use Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship shampoo and conditioner, and I had no curl definition what so ever.I deep conditioned once with Elasta Q... • Curly Frizzy Curly.

    Curly Frizzy Curly.

Not to long ago I straightened my hair to test a heat protectant. I was at school and I kept having people say how great my hair looked and how I should straighten in more often. Every time I heard this I think I died a little inside. I love my curly hair and having it straight just feels wrong. I've been so focused on styling my curly hair to make it look better and less frizzy and more volume at the roots etc. that I forgot how much I loved my hair just for being curly, even if it was frizzy, ... • NaturalHair Breakdown

    NaturalHair Breakdown

On Thanksgiving  I had a naturalhair breakdown! It took me forever to get myself together. And when I say forever I'm not exaggerating....it got to the point that I was like...however it looks I'll go with it. I was even contemplating a perm (holds head down in shame) The style was so bad my friend said I was channeling George Washington LOL. O well, I rocked it like I thought it was hot and I actually got compliments on it (go figure). Here's what I ended up after... Read more »

After 7 hours of picking and looking at another 7 hours TODAY, I said screw this and just cut off the last 9 locs.. And what I do that for? I jacked UP my head!! I have a high Anglish! (For those who are not country as all f**k, that is when you got long hair in the front.. All around, but in the back it i... Read more »

  • Ah !!! Its following me everywhere

Ah !!! Its following me everywhere

Hi there, this is me and this thing on top of me is my hair. More preferably, the frizz ball of death. My hair and I have been at war since I was seven. At first, I dunked my hair in water, smothered it in the strongest gel I could find, and put it in a ponytail. A couple years later I experimented with different products and then my mother bought a straighter ! My prayers were answered ! But then I noticed the frizz, breakage and dryness....   Here I am now, a freshman in highschool. I've... Read more »

  • Waves, waves and more waves

    Waves, waves and more waves

When I saw that I should come up with one curltastrophe I couldn't think of a specific day or time period because I have only been wearing my natural hair for about a year, and for someone who is only a wavy it isn't hard to go natural.I would say that my curltastrophe was simply all of the years I didn't embrace my natural hair. I blow dried it, straightened it, permed it...everything except wear it natural! It looked so fried and unhealthy but my straightener was my best friend, until the summ... Read more »

  • A scary, hairy tale-EEKKKKK!

    A scary, hairy tale-EEKKKKK!

I learn the hard way that it is very important to test our products that you have never mixed together if you will be applying it to your hair. Some leave-in's and stylers do not go together and I knew this! I was in a rush one morning and I had just co washed my hair..and I was going to try Kinky Curly for the first time. The lighting wasn't the best in my room so I was doing a simple wash and shake/go and I applied my normal creamy leave in and then a small amount of the kinky curly. Twirled m... Read more »

  • A PERManent Problem!

    A PERManent Problem!

My last relaxer was what I now call a "PERManent Problem". I always had long, curly hair but I wanted my curls to be more "tamed" and my edges a little more "slicked'. I decided to get a relaxer to do just that- relax my curls a little! They day of my hair appointment I noticed that my hair stylist, at the time, had bad plumbing and the water was coming out so slowly! It took forever to shampoo, rinse, condition, and rinse my hair! My hair turned out great but needless to say my first wash ... Read more »

  • Curly Grooves and Blues---The Bald Spot

Curly Grooves and Blues---The Bald Spot

I love my hair. I really do. But sometimes I find myself facing some crazy obstacles and tragedys regarding my hairs stubborn personality traits. I've had a few curltastrophies, but the one that hurts me the most is the recent fiasco.....the bald spot.I've learned that you can't put your hair in one category. I have three different hair textures, medium in the front, coarse at the crown and fine and silky at the nape and sides. These textures really make a difference when it comes to detangling ...
