Chemical Haircut from Hell
When I was in college, I wanted to loosen my 3b curls. The stylist gave me a thio relaxer and I liked hte results. When I went back three months later, he suggested doing a a lye-based relaxer. I didn't know any better, and he seemed to know what he was doing. BIG MISTAKE. My hair broke off by the handful - for days. I had to get it cut short to hide the bald patches. Hats became my best friend. It took more than two years for my hair to recover. Later in life, I learned that you NEVER mix do a lye-based relaxer over a thio-based relaxer, and vice versa. I wish I had learned to embrace my curls much earlier in life because I would have avoided this disaster.
