Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE this stuff! I've always hated my curls because they were poofy, frizzy and just yucky. So I straightened my hair for years. Until I found the curly girl method. I actually used astroglide until I could afford to get curl keeper & to compare..Wow. I bought the liter size first thing just because I'd seen so many reviews and pictures of before and afters. I will NOT be able to live without this stuff. I'm 29 and first time in my life I absolutely LOVE my curls.

Curl Keeper, also Curly Hair Solutions Leave in Silk conditioner & shampoo. So, I ordered all this stuff, and unfortunately - I hate the Curl Keeper - first of all, it burned on my scalp, then made my scalp itchy. It seemed to work well as far as nicely formed curls, but the itch! Can't stand it - makes me wonder what's in that stuff to burn and itch. Now I'm wondering about using up the shampoo and the leave-in silk conditioner. Is it going to ruin what I have had going with the CG products? That's what I get for being a product junkie! Has anyone tried the shampoo and leave-in silk conditioner? Another question for everyone - I have had such great results with Twisted Sista curl activator - just worried about build-up. I have 3b fine hair. Any comments on Twisted Sista? Thanks all.

I really don't know why there are so many bad reviews. I bought the med curls starter kit, and this is the best product of the kit, everything else in the kit was good and will probably purchase again, but Curl Keeper is now a must-have for me. My hair is 3b, med/fine, a little past my shoulders, highlighted blonde curls, and this product makes them soft, defined, frizz-free (even when I play with it after it's dry), feels clean, and absolutely no stiffness or crunch whatsoever. I really don't understand why so many people are experiencing crunchy curls. I went to frizzoff.com and really payed attention to the videos of how to use there products. And I even use a diffuser sometimes (only when in a hurry), and only after the recommended time (15 min) to let the product "set". I also love the Slip detangler and Tweek cream. They are also in the starter set. As for the 'poo and conditioner, I liked it great but I also really like Living Proof No Frizz 'poo and cond, which also won the Allure Best of Beauty award this year for curly hair. Next I really want to try CHS Extenzz to reduce shrinkage. Good luck Curly Girls!!

I find that I have to double-up with this product, in that it doesn't do anything for my fizzy 2c curl-waves on its own, but match it with a creme then it's incredible. The frizz-free hold lasts and lasts. However, the trick is in learning how much you have to apply, and it took me a long time to learn the exact amount I need. On humid, sitcky days this is my definite go-to product.

3b/c fine thin hair in Hawaii I love love this product I use it with recoil. It does not weigh my fine hair down. I love the fact that it reactivates with water so I can play/fix my hair without hassle anywhere any time. I use a nickel size on each section of my hair with a dime size of recoil and get big soft clumpy curls which is every girls dream with thin fine hair. I also love the fact that this product can be added to any hair regimine without buildup so I still use it with my KCCC.

I seem to be in the minority of peole who don't like this product. On my 3a/3b curls, it leaves them super crunchy, cakey and dried out looking, and 2nd day hair is a horror story. Doesn't seem to matter if I use it on soaking wet hair or 2nd day dry hair, , towel dried hair, diffuse dryed, or air dryed, the result is the same - a tangled, snarled crunchy Sahara Desert mess.

I got the Curly Hair Solutions medium curls trial pack, and this was included. I have used it multiple times, and I really don't see why people love it so much. It defined my curls just as well as other products I have used, except there was quite a bit of crispiness and it took hours and hours to dry. Plus it smells bad. I would compare the smell to bad perfume mixed with urine. What I did like, was the Silk Leave-In Conditioner. It is amazing! It does not define my curls or control frizz as well as I would have liked, but I love the way it makes my hair feel. And it doesn't smell as bad.

This product doesnt do mch for my hair i have four inches of natural 3b curls and it doesnt tame my frizz unless i wuse half the bottle and then my hair is masked to my head and looks oily. I have extremly dry hair and i color it with semi-permanant dye and i am transitoning. it works on the relaxed part where its about 2c/3a. so only get this if you dont have a lot of frizzies and big curls. its more for the 2's.

For years I mistakenly believed I was "suffering" from curly hair. I have type 3a/b curls and frizz is my worst enemy, not to mention terribly dry hair. I recently decided to go back to wearing my hair natural but I knew I had to find the right product for me. After trying a few I read about at this site, I decided to try Curl Keeper! I am so glad I did! My hair looks wonderful! Still a bit of frizz, but it's getting better as I am getting into practice again with my curls and this product. My hair looks controlled, curly, and wonderful! I am now 40 years old and I love my curls so much I wish it was even curlier! Curl Keeper is a keeper for me!

2 Curls only because my sisters said my hair looked ok. Not the look i was trying to achieve my curls got swollen so if you like big hair and volume go ahead. My hair wasn't as frizzy but my ends looked dry and my hair was soft but too fluffy. I believe the high dew points added extra moisture from the air into my hair with this product so i don't think it was really sealing my LI before i put gel on so i didn't get the results i was hoping for. Maybe will try again in the winter. For now with summer i will continue sealing with light oils after KCKT and before KCCC. - 3B-C, Med Porosity, Med-Coarse Texture, Thick Density.

I have type 2a-3a hair--very fine and wavy to curly. My hair is exceptionally porus and can absorb a lot of product before getting weighed down. I do a lot of mixing and layering of products, in fact, just to get my hair not to be so flyaway. I found this product did what it said--offered enhanced curl definition; however, I found it worked even better mixed with a Jessicurl product that also aims for curl definition: Confident Coils Styling solution.

I am in Curl Keeper LOVE!! I would never have guessed it. I almost did not try it. I was leery becasue I read how it tamed frizz (I have no frizz) and elongated curl. What? What! I am trying to turn this 2b wave into some curls. I want nothing that elongates. Well, surprise of surprises. This miracle elixir turned my weak waves into actual curls. I about fell over after I crunched with a t-shirt and looked in the mirror. Serious curls! My gel actually loosened what CK gave me. My hair scrunched out soft and not product-y looking. I cannot recommend this enough! Wavies-take a chance on CK love. I am SUPER glad that I did!

Maybe one of the best products I've ever tried. That's saying a lot - like many other cg's, I've TRIED a lot. Keeps my 3a curls contained and sleek without weighing them down. Frizz diminished considerably. I might just have to buy the litre bottle...(the problem is I used to use it under a non silicone-free mousse, so I need to find something else to help pump up my curl...I may try AG re:coil). Either way, on its own, it's FAB! The closest I've EVER come to 2nd day hair is with this stuff.

Still undecided on this one. I've been having some great hair days wtih this product. Practically zero frizz. However, it is strangely watery and my curls are very loose. They are naturally tight without any product at all, but I ended up trading frizz for dull hair. I'd give this a 5 if it tightened my curls.

A must have! this product truly does eliminate frizz! I have super frizzy almost damage looking hair towards the back around the ponytail area and I can apply a lot of this stuff without weighing down my hair and all the frizz is gone. I use it as a base under AG recoil curl activator and they are a great team. It is water based so you don't have to worry about any crunch or heavy feeling hair.

I love it! I have really, really picky hair that ONLY likes Curl Keeper. It doesn't like anything else that I have tried, for whatever reason; everything else leaves my hair hard, limp, greasy, stringy, or causes build-up. And I have tried a lot of gels/creams/mousses, etc. I wish I could try other things and have them actually work, but as long as I have Curl Keeper, I am happy! I have 2a/b hair and this has a light hold when I use a small amount (which is all I need), and it reduces frizz SO well! No stiffness/ crunch whatsoever, and my hair is always super shiny after I use it, I love it, and can't wait to try all the other products from CHS.

ok so this is my first time reviewing anything -- this stuff is amazing. I guess I have been using it for 4 months and have also been experimenting with other, more expensive products but none work as well as this! I use it with AG:Recoil or sometimes alone and I get awesome looking curls and I get tons of compliments. Ive also tried Kinky-curly knot today and that did basically nothing for my hair - just left it frizzy with not much curl. I also broke bank over trying curl junkie products -- which are nice, but not near as good as this stuff. I'm actually fixing to buy some more of this stuff!

I'm a new CG and am still trying out products.Have had trouble with being either too greasy or too drying. Tried this today and LOVE it! First product that gave me total frizz control on a 90 degree midwestern summer day with soft touchable curls. I have 3a curls front and top and 2b sides and back. I did use it with a gel. Co-washed, combed CK through wet hair, dried with a microfiber towel and then applied Angel gel. Diffused just enough to get excess water out and then air-dried. Today this product gave great frizz control without being heavy on my fine curls. Gave it 4 curls only because this was my first time. If I get results like I did today I would revise to 5 curls.

I'm not really a fan. This product felt really product-y, and it doesn't fit well into my style regimen. It took me a while to warm up to this stuff, but I kept trying because it has such a great reputation. It used to make my hair stringy and stretch out my curls too much, but I think my hair was just not healthy enough to benefit from the light (very light) hold, moisture-locking, and smoothing of CK. Now I layer it under everything.

I've looked all my life for a product like this (sadly I'm now 38) & it's a shame I haven't found it sooner. I have 2B hair that curls lovely when it's healthy but just won't curl when it's damaged (lots of foil highlights & permanent hair coloring). Instead it just frizzes a whole lot & kinks up a bit when I try to scrunch a curl into it with hair gel or any other curl-enhancing product. Enter Curl Keeper (finally!)... I've NEVER had an easier time getting waves & curl back into my hair... without a lot of work... just apply to wet hair (nickel-size amount for my chin-length bob), arrange with fingers, scrunch it up a little, let it air dry (doesn't take forever). Then scrunch a bit of fullness into it after hair is dry & frizz NEVER COMES BACK. I love this. I wake up in the morning & my hair looks virtually untouched. No crunchiness, no stiffness, no dullness, no stickyness. It's amazing. Again, I'm just sad I didn't find this sooner. But I'm 100% thrilled to have it now (especially in the heat of humid NYC summer!). What a godsend. I bought the 8oz bottle for $15.50 which will last me a long time but next time I'll get the huge 33oz bottle. This stuff (to me) is liquid gold.

Used it for the first time this morning. I have to say...it's AMAZING! Wonderful product! Gave me bouncy, shiny, defined, frizz-free wurlies that STAYED all of the above after my hair had finished drying. This last effect is an unusual (albeit pleasant) one for me, since, as my hair air-dries, it usually develops a halo of frizzies (at which point, I would lightly apply more product). Needless to say, this product was different; it needed no reapplication or touching up. It also worked all by itself, without the help of any other styling products. It's noon in my timezone, and I've already gotten two compliments. I will be reordering if every day is like this one. HG? I'll have to wait and see, but things are looking up.

I love this product. I am 41 and have been trying pretty much anything for my curls as alot of woman have. My hair is 3A. It's frizzy, uncontrollable, and very dry. I use ONLY this product on my hair after conditioning and it leaves my curls looking controlled. It will frizz a little bit on the crown later on in the day but all i do is add a little bit of water to re-activate, and voila. I truly recommend this product. It's a little pricey but worth it. The only downfall is it cant be purchased from a store; can only get online.

This product fights the frizz pretty well, and I have very frizzy hair. It does not add much curl though. You definitely still need to use a mouse or a curl booster in addition to this one. Also, it does leave hair feeling crunchy/hard. I do like the smell alot, and I like that it does not make my hair feel oily/greasy. Overall, good frizz fighter, but not a great curl definer/booster.

I've finally figured out how to get the best results using CK!! And its true what everyone has been saying, you need to use ALOT of this product to get it to perform optimally. Basically, you keep applying it to your hair until you think you've put too much, and then you add one more palm-full haha. And I apply it to dripping wet hair right after my leave in. Once I've put in CK, I use AG:Recoil and use about a dime size of it. After that, I make sure not to touch my hair or do anything to it for at least 10 minutes. Its really important that the CK sets. After that, I diffuse and get some wonderful curls. This is def my HG product =)

I tried it by itself and under a gel, and both times I got deformed-looking, gimpy, weak curls, and it also turned some of my curls into waves (but not all of them, so I ended up looking like I didn't finish styling my hair). This product COULD have been a good one for my very frizz-prone, fine, 3b curly hair in a dry, desert climate. But, as so many manufacturers do, they added a perfume that is way too strong for me. I tried this stuff 3 times as I really wanted to like it but each time the overpowering scent got stronger and more intense as my hair dried later in the day (not blown dry). I couldn't stand it. On the third day, the side of my face broke out where my hair was touching. If you have allergies or sensitivities, pass on this one. If scent doesn't bother you, then by all means give it a try but be sure to use a leave-in conditioner underneath it.

I had to use about 2 ounces of this product to get completely frizz free. However this product left my hair feeling producty (felt like plastic was in it). I ended up with zero volume and couldn't gently run my fingers through it once it was dry. The sent left me with a migraine so bad I had to wash my hair and clarify the next day. This product would be great if it was sent free.

I've been using this product for about a month now and I simply couldn't be more in love! Since I started using this product in combination with AG's re:coil I've noticed a significant improvement in how healthy my hair both looks and feels. I have super-fine hair, so it doesn't take much at all for a product to be too heavy for my hair, but CK is just right. On both the up and down-side this product is water based, meaning I feel completely guiltless when I put it in second-day hair but also have had a bit of trouble controlling how much comes out of the bottle and keeping it firmly in my hand while trying to apply it. Being almost comically clumsy could also be a contributing factor to the later. Bottom line? I love this product. I see that not everyone has had my experience with it, but I love it and my hair look great. I'm hooked.

I use CK with AG Recoil and I love it. I rake the CK through my hair first and then AG Recoil. I do it when my hair is still soaking wet. I put my hair in a microfibre towel for about ten minutes and then I let my hair air dry. When my hair is mostly dry, I use a blow dryer with a diffuser to get some volume. I get great curls with no frizz.

I'm learning that my hair doesn't respond well to glycerin at all. This product did not work for me. My hair was greasy and frizzy. The smell is horrible. If your hair likes glycerin and gets weighed down easily, then perhaps this is the product for you. For me, I moved on.

Terrible product for my 4a hair. It gave absolutely no curl definition - it was a terrible frizzy mess. I gave it multiple tries as well but practice did not help matters. On my son's 3a hair it did define his curl, but did not impart moisture.

I love this product for my 3b hair BUT I have to use it with a leave in conditioner to get the results otherwise it doesn't work as well. If I didn't have to use a leave in conditioner with it, I would have given it a 5 curl rating. Also, I can't just scrunch and go, I have to skip curl my hair like he shows you in his video or else it still frizzes up. I use Goldwell Kerasilk conditioner as a leave in.

I would usually only flat iron my hair because it was too hard and annoying to do my hair curly. I would also spend a lot of money going to salons for wash and styles. Curl Keeper is great. I only need to do my hair twice a week because it reactivates with water.

Great for my 3B hair!!! I tried this product expecting it not to work.. but it was amazing!! You have to use a lot and comb thru when wet and let air dry without touching.. a little touch of some hair spray. Never until i tried this product can i have soft curls (always had crunchy ones to keep in curls all day). I just bought the liter amount today because I know i will be using this forever!!!

I do like this product. I have tons (about 6) curl cremes in my bathroom, and most just dont do well without added gel, mouse etc. I like my curls defined, soft, bouncy with some volume as my hair is fine, but have medium amount of hair..when I paired this with Aveda's Curl Creme...EXCEPTIONAL! If I used with CHS gel, STICKY, CRUNCHY...that 80's wet sticky curl look...YUK! Even using store bought curl creme..i.e. Garneir Fructise curl creme, did pretty well too. I found that when I applied product(s) my hair was pretty saturated then I would bend over and take a towel and squeeze excess while scrunching. Then I could gently place my curls how I wanted and let dry!! Excellent this way!

This worked great on my 3c/4a hair! I agree with other reviews that CK is used best when mixed with a gel. I was able to get 4 day hair and my curls still pop when I run wet fingers through the hair and add a little CK to revive flat or frizzy sections. The only downside is that it is easy to really go through a lot of CK to get the best results but if used with a gel you won't need to use as much CK.

I love this product. I bought this last year, and got horrible results. However, I read reviews of many others that liked this in combo with Jessicurl CCSS and Batia & Aleeza Gel, so I decided to try it again. I have very thick 3b/3c hair that likes to spiral, so the first thing I did was break my hair into 4 sections. Then I went through and with my fingers raked in the CHS Silk Leave-In, followed by the CK, CCSS, and BA gel. I had already detangled with my shower comb while my hair was full of conditioner, so I opted not to comb the CK in, since I wanted to encourage ringlet groupings. My hair had body, movement, curl definition, no frizz, and my ringlets clumped together beautifully. CK definitely did its job in locking out the frizz! Now that I know how to apply the product correctly, I'm loving the results. Day 2 looked great as well. I want to thank the other ladies on NC, particularly the other 3cs that wrote product reviews. I learned the importance of layering the CK with other products since my hair is so thick and curly. The sectioning and rake technique worked beautifully with this product mix.

Hate, Hate, Hate this product! I have 3b curls that tend to form by themselves. When I use this I have to spend too much time finger curling my hair. It drained my natural shine and highlights so my hair looked dull and dead, and it sucked all of the moisture out. I mixed it with a leave-in and it seemed to prevent the leave-in from absorbing into my hair folicles. I am happy that it works for some, but don't expect a miracle for everone! If you want to spend 30 minutes finger curling it does hold the shape nicely, but I would only try if your hair is alreay half dead, not if it's healthy.

This product did define my curls and they looked fine for a month. But it is extremely drying! The second ingredient is PVP/VA colpolymer, a plastic. I had to wash frequently with the strong shampoo (from the same line) to remove the build-up and my hair ended up like straw. If you use Curl Keeper, alternate it with another product. Better yet, avoid it.

After much experimentation I finally figured out how to use this product. I start by adding CK right out of the shower on soaking wet hair (I use about a quarter sized puddle). Then I add Re:Coil (or Rockin Ringlets) and rake it through my hair and scrunch the excess water out. Finally I add about a half dollar sized puddle of gel and scrunch it in my hair for extra hold. I plop for 15min then diffuse with my hair hanging over my head. I get great curl formation and they even start from my roots using this system. I take away CK and I don't get as much height from the roots or great clumping.

I did have high hopes for this product, but it just didn't work for my lifestyle. I have tried it for a solid 3 weeks using it in many different ways and all were unsuccessful. In general my hair felt dry, coarse, and even sticky when using the recommended amount of product. Also, my healthy 3a/3b curls would fall to a wave after a few hours regardless of how much product I was using. The one thing that did work was that my curls were frizz free. I immediately went back to my old techniques that leave my hair bouncy, shiny, and very soft. Condition, leaving a little in when rinsing, gel, and finally lifting the crown with clips to get more height whether air drying to diffusing.

This product didn't work for me at first. There's a certain technique...you have to apply to DRIPPING wet hair and rake through hair. Then rub some more between your palms and scrunch into your hair- you should hear a squishy noise if your hair is wet enough. Then I scrunch some gel in and use a microfiber towel to scrunch some of the water out and define curls. That's what works for me! I get shiny bouncy well-defined curls after scrunching again when it's dry. I've only been using it about a week, so I hope it keeps working so well. Then I'll have my HG!!

Great stuff!! This and the Batia and Aleeza gel are the only styling products I've tried that actually work for me without making my hair feel crunchy or stiff. It's liquidy so very easy to work through my hair. When it dries there's a slight crunch, but I can quickly scrunch it out and then my hair is non-frizzy, defined, SOFT, and SHINY all day! The hold doesn't disappear by the end of the day or when my hair is touched or aggravated (like trying on clothes at the mall lol). It's the solution to my lifelong battle with my hair! Now I get so many compliments, and I can actually look in the mirror--or even PLAY with my hair, which I could never do before--and be happy with my hair.

Can't say enough good things about this product. I have used so many serums and potions over the years and this is the best. It looks like water but has a thicker consistency. If you run this through soaking wet hair then put on a little AG ReCoil through your tresses, you will get perfectly frizz free hair that will blow you away. This is the best one to set the tone for your finishing product then any other on the market. I call it the perfect distributor because it sets the tone for a really great hair day. It's almost enough but not quite so I distribute a little AG ReCoil through it afterwards and thats all I need to do. If I do not touch my hair and simply let it dry naturally, in a few hours my hair is gorgeous with this stuff. It will look crinkly and wet while its drying but if you gently rub your tresses by pulling on the locks a little and shaking it out, it cracks and you get soft loose curls underneath the crunch.

Love this stuff for keeping the frizz at bay! It's awesome layered over a leave-in underneath your styler (cream, gel or mousse!). I've never used it just as a styler because it's so expensive. But it's an HG alone for frizz! I have found I don't need it in the winter as my hair tends to become a bit smoother on it's own when it's cool. Has an odd scent that I've come to really like. I have 2B/3A hair, & this is my summer HG! There is NOTHING like CK for beating the frizz in the heat & humidity. For me, it is key to comb it through my hair after rinsing out conditioner, then plopping in a t-shirt for a few minutes to let it "do it's thing". I then scrunch in my gel & voila - perfect hair day!

I can see how this would work for some people, but it didn't do it for me. It made my hair very soft, shiny, and frizz-free, but my curls fell to barely a wave. It almost seemed like it made my hair to smooth and sleek to clump together and form curls. I got smooth, shiny, soft hair in skinny, barely wavy strings. I do like it for when I straighten. I'm sure it would work better for coarser curls that hold their shape on their own.

I wish I would have had the luck that others have had with this product. My curls were the worst they have ever been when I used this. I had frizzy, skinny, flat curls. Not buying this again.

I love this product! I get great curl formation without the product buildup. It was worth every penny. Plus, it works well alone or in combination with any other product I use. Definitely buying again.

This worked wonders for my hair in the summer months when it was humid out; with the drier winter weather it doesn't provide enough hold for me and it seems to weigh my hair down.

I tried this on my fine, wave-a-licious hair and it did zippo. Felt slimy, and went crunchy on me. Yes, I used it with their leave-in which also didn't do anything for me, too lightweight. I suspect this is best used on really thick springy curls, with other products.

I absolutely love this product! It gives me great curl definition for my 3c-4a curls. This is my Holy Grail product. Works best with a good leave in conditioner. I have received many compliments whenever I use this product. Thank you natuallycurly.com for recommending such a great product.

CK is great for curl formation and frizz reduction. I use it alone or with gel. No buildup; slight crunch that easily scrunches out. I've been using it year-round for over a year and love it!

Just purchased the product and used my sister (4a-4b) to experiment with. it definitely defined her tiny curls and waves however dried very crunchy. I gave it 4 because it did not flake and leaves absolutely "NO BUILDUP"! Her curls were light and bouncy. Amazing!!!I was told to use a leave in conditioner with it. I will definitely be using the product once come out of my braids!!!

Unfortunately, Curl Keeper did absolutely nothing for my hair. I tried layering it under a few different gels, and it did not reduce frizz any more than the gel alone. It gave my hair a fake/producty shine that I did not like either. I know lots of people love this product, but it wasn't for me.

This did absolutely nothing for my short, corkscrew curls except flake up once it dried. The only reason I'm giving it a 2 is that it wasn't too drying.

I dont know what the fuss is about this product. Its expensive, leaves my hair dull, and doesnt do much for my frizz, even when I put a lot on. I definitely wouldnt call this the ultimate solution!

In terms of 'Holy Grails', this would definitely qualify! I am amazed at the consistant performance of this product. Use it alone, it works well. Pair it with a gel or mousse, it works well. It completely takes the place of a silicone serum (in terms of frizz reduction) and is IMO, the best defrizzer out on the market. I'll continue to purchase this stuff by the gallons!

I really like this product. My hair is a very soft curl, so this helped even the curls out and make them stay all day with no frizz. It works best w/the whole line of products though.

This works great. I have kinky curly hair, and this makes my curls soft and bouncy. I have gotten many compliments on my hair since I started using it. It makes my hair shinier and more manageable and a lot less frizzy. I hope they never discontinue it.

Love this stuff. I put it on top of all of my leave-in conditioners and curl-enhancing creams, and get great results with everything. Always soft, never crunchy. If you pair this with CHS silk leave-in you get the softest hair imaginable. I've had many compliments on how soft my hair is.

Definitely does the job, once you figure out how to use it. Soft shiny (yes I said shiny) curls with great curl formation. Needs to be paired with the leave-in conditioner.
