knmnerissa - Hair Type: 4a This is a duplicate of a review I have on MUA:
This was THE most disappointing product ever, 2nd only to MJ's Curly Pudding and its god-awful smell. I used the curly buttercreme in 2006. I was a very long-haired, tightly wound, curly/kinky in SF with no salon willing to do my hair (no, not even African). I had no clue what to do on my own and ordered this and curly pudding seduced by good product placement, retro logos and misleading reviews on natural hair boards. It was expensive, ($60 a tub!) but if it would hydrate my curls and make my routine quicker I was game. It was cold, lemon-custard colored, thick and came in a 16oz tub - unhygienic and gross, yes, but believe me less so than the PURPLE curly pudding.
I used the buttercreme at night and the smell was horrendous, but less so than the pudding which was a potent mint (I want to say) though both got me kicked out of bed!
I followed the directions to 'twist out' my hair again and again and the formula still left visible flakes and crud (and it states clearly in the directions that you will use half the tub in one go, $30)! My hair looked matte, dirty and felt coated with product. No real stretching of my curl, it was no different than if I had used nothing and twisted my hair alone. There was no miracle smoothing, softening, natural shine nor definition left.
I still hadn't learnt my lesson because I called the NY salon in hopes of getting the secret to the results on the site that I couldn't manage. What I got was a very pissed-off, supposed, former employee who told me that either Titi or Miko left the business without a word and went to D.C. leaving employees and customers high and dry. I have read the same on other boards about that incident but didn't care, I felt totally had by the product. It drowns hair in beeswax, parabens & animal proteins. Beware the grandmotherly marketing and do not expect anything from this product if you buy. I have since seen the expanded line and new ads for the salon (about $400 a visit!) but the proof is in the pudding's ingredient list.
Note, my container is from 2006, they may have changed formulation. Also the tub is durable and houses countless BE eyeshadows but still smells like mint implosion.

- Hair Type: 4b I have type 4B tight coils. I watched the videos and followed the styling chart that I picked up from Ricky's. The Curly Buttercreme is too greasy no matter how little. When I took apart my twistouts, I ended up with a big frizz ball even though I had a little of the product on my fingers to prevent frizz. I spent over $30.00 for this product and wish there was a money-back guarantee for this stuff. It it greasy and caused buildup on my scalp although I didn't use a lot of it.
I would suggest not to buy the big jar and just go with the $10.00 bottles so you don't waste your money.
I contacted Miss Jessie's and was told to either go to their salon and spend $300+ for them to apply it or find a natural hair salon. Why would I tie up my entire day at a natural hair salon to spend $80+ to apply the same product when I have the same jar sitting here. The funny thing is that when I contact salons, they refer me to other products that will give me the curl definition I desire. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

mrsbriscott - Hair Type: 3c This is the first product I have found that not only defines my 3b/c 4b hair but additionally keeps it soft and hydrated. I bought the Baby Butter Cream at first and use it on my 21 month olds and it works great on his 3b/c hair. This prompted me to buy the sample pack where I found the original and fell in love.

MzCJA - Hair Type: 4a It's good but overpriced. A little goes a long way, use too much and be prepared for an attack of the greasy blob. Worked well for my twist & braids.

BxTiki - Hair Type: 4a I have been using this product for over 3 years and it works wonders on my hair. I have 3c/4a hair and use it for my twists. It is hydrating and gives my curls great definition.

nubancurls1 - Hair Type: 4a I really enjoy this product! Yes, I know that it is high in price however, it is worth it. My hair type is a 3c/4a. It works very will for day 2, 3, 4 hair. You can also use this in your hair before you shampoo.

imsonappy - Hair Type: 4b I really like this product. It's moisturizing and left my hair soft. I like to use it to do a curly afro. Because my hair can be really dry it was not too heavy. I tried a sample and though it's expensive I think it would be worth it. I love the minty and cool tingly feel once I massage into my scalp.

janeles77 - Hair Type: 3c I really love this product for touch ups. I used it in my husbands beard and it really help moisture and detangle, Only problem is he didn't like the minty smell. But I do, I love the fresh tingly feeling in my head.

labeba1nika - Hair Type: 3b Does your hair need a breathmint? Then just get this product. Its Perfect if ur hair stinks. lol. It is a little oily, but very moisturizing if used carefully. I KNOW i did not pay almost 60 dollars. That is a ridiculous price, you would think you were getting some silk cashmere and gold in here somewhere

Tkellie - Hair Type: 4a I like the minty smell of this product. It provides a tingly sensation once applied to your scalp although I'm not quite sure what this product is to do for oyur hair. I think it's a bit greesey and it's way over priced. I tried some of the styling techniques that miss jessies provided with for the use of the cbc and they just don;t work. At the end like I say your hair turns out to be very greasy. So maybe I'll just use a little just to keep my hair hydrated.

ovee - Hair Type: 3c I do not like the over-powering mint fragrance in this product. Your hair is moisturized but you have to apply the product daily.

latinegra - Hair Type: 4a Buttercreme is so greasy, it's greee-zzzeee, and it has a pungent odor. (That's not a good thing!) I did not notice any moisturizing properties, just grease. When used with Curly Pudding, the smell is putrid. And let's not forget the outrageous price!

ttndahouse - Hair Type: 4a Cream is heavy and waxy. Will build up very easily. Way overpriced! Don't waste your money

azuridiva - Hair Type: 4a This is a great product for very dry 4a/b hair, otherwise it is going to be way too heavy. This gives my hair a sparkly quality and the fact that one application lasts for days makes me over look the price. It does have a heavy mint smell and tingly quality and that isn't for everyone. A little goes a long way.

curlishious - Hair Type: 4a My hair has always been SUPER SUPER dry, and I have tried almost everything to soften and moisturize my hair. Finally! I swear by this product. It really changed the way my hair feels and the smell is quite pleasant too.

FallOutCurl - Hair Type: 4a THE WORST DARN BUTTERCREME PERIOD. Seriously, this product is not nice the smell is overbearing I applied it during the day and could still smell it at night causing me to stay up all night until I decided to just wash my hair. To top it off my hair was so greasy I had to wash with sulphate shampoo, contains petro chems and is that expensive, why? If I wanted such poor definition for my hair I would have gone to a high st store and waste less money. It's just as well this was a sample.

dominicancurls06 - Hair Type: 3c My hair felt so greasy after using this product. It left my hair feeling very weighed down, provided no curl definition, or hydration. Be advised-- this product contains mineral and petroleum which are both hair follicle clogging agents. IE--retards hair growth. Expensive for nothing.

cher - Hair Type: 4a I can't live w/o this product! It really moisturizes my kinks. I have only one complaint which is the stickiness factor that sometimes means I have foreign objects imbedded in my hair! This may be more my fault for overdoing it w/the product.

ssamadhi - Hair Type: 3c This is a very thick cream that dries clear and doesn't weigh down my hair. I have 3b/c curls that are very, very dry. This is one of the best hydrating and styling products I've used. It last all day and is good for a couple of days for me if I sleep in a silky scarf. It is much better than the pudding and the merigue--both of which are quite drying.

davala10 - Hair Type: 3c This stuff is horrible. The smell is strong, but I can stand it. I used it to do 2 strand twists, but instead it ended up being a greasy limp mess on my head. It moisturizes really well, but use this product sparingly. I will be getting all $58 of my money back. Not worth it.
