Cheles08 - Hair Type: 4b I tried this product on a twist out. It smelled great and it felt good on my hair. I was ready to see how my twists would be after it set. I liked how springy and defined they were. My hair was shiny and not hard. I liked how my hair turned out. Now, the reason I am giving this 3 curls instead of 4 is because I do not like the residue on my hair. It's like little dandruff balls and I just washed my hair. Now maybe I used too much on my hair and that's the reason for it. So if you try this be aware of that. You hair will be moisturized, but the residue might make you want to wash your hair and not put any of this product on. I'll try less on my hair next time and hope that the residue is not there.

Gretchen - Hair Type: 3a Worked surprisingly well in my hair. Pulled out a bit more of the curl than I would have preferred, but I got nice separation.

laurabeth33 - Hair Type: 2b This gave me 1980s stringy, fluffy waves. The stringiness started at the roots and continued down to about 2" from the ends where my hair became very fluffy and airy/inflated. I was careful to use a small amount too. Since my curls were enlongated into waves, this is too heavy for me.
bmatthews - Hair Type: 4b The Best of them all to me. My hair is 4b/c. I have 2 grades. In the top its more loose wavy while the rest is tight and curly/coily. My barber says it a medium grade, what ever that is. But this curly pudding works great when I do 2 strand twist. I put it in only every 2 days because it can get a little tacky if I use it to much in a week. It does give definition and I know they says sit under a dryer after applying, but to me it works just as well if you have the time to let it air dry.

MissChris10 - Hair Type: 4a I love this product! It makes my twist-outs very defined and soft. The smell can be a bit much but it dies down when the hair dries.

lauram940 - Hair Type: 3c I bought this product when I was newly BC'd. I was a little apprehensive about the price, but the review drew me in. I tried it as soon as I got home and loved it. It gives my curls a shine and a hold thats just right for my 3b/3c hair. Plus whenever I use it people have there noses all up in my hair saying how much they love the smell. they say it smells like candy! I love this stuff!

MzCJA - Hair Type: 4a The smell is too fruity. Preferred the unscented one. If you're into hard crunchy curls you'll love this. Ok with twists.

MxdNativeBeauty - Hair Type: 4a Have 4A hair. Shingled hair and gave me well defined curls. Hard for a hold which makes my style last longer. It is kind of crunchy but not in a bad way. I get the ultimate definition with this product. Can be a little drying after couple days but not horrible.

Sassy-M - Hair Type: Someone shoulde reupdate this product info. The ingridience have changed - they have been substituted by cheaper stuff. Now it is just an awful product with the same high price.
If you can get your hand on an old edition jar with the original products you are lucky. The new formula however is an aweful waste of money!

- Hair Type: 3c I was really skeptical about buying this for my 3c hair because of the reviews, but wanted something to control frizz and provide moisture. So I purchased a sample jar. The result was horrible. This made my hair draw up into a frizzy, brillo pad looking mess.

kinkycurls - Hair Type: 4a I used the Baby Curly Pudding and was a fan at first. Then, I began to get tired of the residue and it wouldn't last very long when in my hair (3 days at most). Unfortunately for me, I need to use a lot in order to get the look I wanted. And, with the container being small and the price being high, I eventually stopped using it.

reactiontomissjessies - Hair Type: I used Miss Jessie's curly pudding (scented) and had an allergic reaction to it. I got hives everywhere the pudding or my hair touched. My whole face,my shoulders, neck, ears, everywhere. In all my 20 years of using thousands of products, I've never had a reaction to any of them. I looked at the ingredients and there were a few things that I have never seen before, probably one of those items did it. So test it first ladies.

edsmile - Hair Type: 4a I just bought the Unscented MJ Curly Pudding over the weekend. I was hesitant because I've bought other MJ products and didn't like them and plus they're overpriced. I was very surprised at this morning when I took down my 2-strand twists. My curls are defined, soft, and have moisture. I have 3c, 4a, and 4b curls and kinks. I did use a leave in conditioner and water mix before I applied the curly pudding. I didn't notice any flakes or product residue. I would buy this product again and recommend trying it. It's the only MJ product I use.

~mixedchick~ - Hair Type: 3c I just realized the ingredients listed here are the old ingredients. I think I would have really liked the old formula!! But the new formula dried out my 3C curls and left them feeling residuey. I don't think my hair agrees with the mineral oil, which is #2 on the ingredient list after water. I had such high hopes, but was very disappointed with this product. I agree with the sentiment...MJ please bring the old formula back!! Luckily I only bought the 2oz sample jar. Though I'm glad to see in the reviews that some curlies are getting good results. It all depends on your hair type I guess.

curlykinkynfrizzy? - Hair Type: 4a Not a horrible product; I love the smell. But way too expensive for the ingredients used. Plus, you can get similar if not better results with cheaper, more quality proucts. I get fab twistouts with avocado butter and Curls Ectasy! And no buildup.

lteefaw - Hair Type: The ingredients that are listed on NaturallyCurly is the old formula. The one that I at one point LOVED. It turned my 4A hair into shiny plump curls every time.
But the new formula is trash!! One of the main ingredient is parafinium liquidum. Which is a fancy word for Mineral Oil. A product known to leave 4a hair dry as a brick. Then they have the nerves to charge close to $40 for this mess. A $40 bottle of baby oil is what is it. Miss Jessie's please bring back the old formula.

drob27 - Hair Type: My daughter is a 3c, very thick and long with tangling issues :(. After trying the BBC (successfully), I decided to try the curly pudding. The shingling method did not work for her as it elongated the curl slightly, but ended up more frizzy and "crunchy" than I had hoped. The second time, I used the pudding for the wet twist-out. It turned out with a soft, well-defined and bouncy curl. The drawback is that my 2 oz jar is all gone after two uses and the product is a little pricey. However, I am thankful for sites and products like these that offer practical and effective advise for those with curly hair.

jessieluvz - Hair Type: 3c This product was ok. Leaves her poofy and soft. The consistency is like pudding so there is no contradiction with its name. It's a little overrated though.

bahbii - Hair Type: 4a WHAT HAPPENED?!! I used to LOVE this product. But when I stocked up last year during the BOGOF promotion, I ended up with 8 jars of a cream that I absolutely cannot use now because it DRIES MY HAIR OUT! I used to get soft, plump, fluffy, shiny, well-defined, beautiful curls that garnered me compliment after compliment. But now I get dry, dull, stringy, untouchable curls that I'm ashamed to wear out. So I had to stop using this product. Very disappointing!! Please MJ, go back to the formulation that gives soft, shiny curls, not this drying, damaging formulation!!

Blamjac4 - Hair Type: 3c First of all, I have to start by mentioning the strong scent of the product. I love to wear perfume, and with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, any perfume you wear would be masked by the strong odor of this product. The other thing is that when I touch my hair it feels sticky-almost like there's sugar in it. The curls were defined well and it did stretch my curls slightly, but overall, this product only gets two curls for my 3b hair. Did I mention that it's way too expensive?

imsonappy - Hair Type: 4b I really wanted to like this stuff but it left my hair a FRIZZY HOT MESS! I used it for a two strand twist style and OMG! it was horrible. I did like the smell. I don't know where I went wrong with the application but I followed the steps on the website...and I can say it did not work for me...bummer cause this stuff is expensive.

Tkellie - Hair Type: 4a I purchae the curly pudding not knowing exactly what to expect. Overall I think it's okay it does not dry your hair out,its soft to the touch after drying. And I really do love the smell. But my hair is medium length so I guess I have to grow it out a little more to get that elongation length. So I will stock up for the bogof deal on the miss jessies products.

Diamonds&Curls - Hair Type: 3c This stuff cost too much and to my surprise isnt natural...and i dont think its cg....i loved the smell but it didnt do much for my curls...i my have be using it wrong but i tired to do a twist out according to the website and it didnt work out...i might experiment some more with a small jar but overall it did nothing for me besides waste $40 and had me looking like a mop head some days

mosxy5 - Hair Type: 3c I got a small tub of the scent-free version. Did the shingling method and sat under the dryer for ever. It did nothing for curl definition but my hair was shiny, soft, and easy to put in a bun without using any gel.

ovee - Hair Type: 3c I applied this product to my naturally curly hair. I do not like the over-powering fragrance of this product! (grape). I let my hair air dry and I have shrinkage and a little frizz. My hair is dry and is not moist. Do I now need to apply buttercream everyday? I guess to achieve the great looks on their website you have to visit their salon. I wanted a product that I can maintain my own natural hair at home without visiting a salon. I will stick to a gel product.

latinegra - Hair Type: 4a Great for defining my 4A curls and stretching them (somewhat), but loses a lot of points for 1. its hideous smell, 2. the fact that you have to use it in conjunction with the Buttercream, 3. the long drawn out application process and that one's hair has to be soaking wet, and 4. the ridiculous price. I will only use it when I'm at a loose end (meaning: when I'm out of all of my other products and this is the only one in the bathroom cabinet!)

glad2bnappy - Hair Type: 3c This is not the miracle elixir I was hoping for. But, its not that bad either. It helps my hair stay moist, but it does nothing for my curls. This product is a little heavy and I was surprised by how stiff it made my hair. Maybe I am just disappointed because the website looked so promising. Its okay, but I have been enjoying fantasia ic gel with olive oil more for a fraction of the price.

writerchicknyc - Hair Type: I was wary of this product due to the high price and love it/hate it reviews. But, as much as my wallet hates it, I adore this product.
My hair spans across all types of 3 and 4 and the pudding did wonders for each type. I used it for finger coils and the product left my hair soft and shiny with great definition. I had no crunch or flakes. I applied the product on soaking wet hair before bed and it was still damp in places 8 hours later. Next time, I will try a dryer.
I'm newly natural so I can't say whether or not the product is worth the price. I'm going to try IC gel this weekend to see if it will do the same job for a fraction of the price. If not, I'm willing to pay the price for the great results.

KinkyPJ - Hair Type: The smell is embarrassingly distracting. Seriously, I'd be out and about and dodging and ducking from people. K, that aside, it is too heavy and leaves hair stringy and crunchy when dry. I recently resurrected it after a year and a half of not using it. I now use it for two strand twist; the key is to mix it with some sort of oil and you won’t get that stringy/crunchy effect.

keli0705 - Hair Type: 4a I ordered this for my daughter's dry, unruly kinky 3c/4a curls and I love it. Prior to using this product, I would wash and do 2-strand twists then take down within a day or two and she would still have this nappy, dry, fro look! It was still kinda cute but I wanted more definition in the curls from the twists and some shine. And WOW does the curly pudding make a difference. I followed the directions on the website to a T for the 2 strand twist by saturating her wet hair with the pudding before twisting and it stayed moist most of the way thru until I got to the top. When it dried a little, I would spray a little water on her hair to reactivate the pudding and I wouldn't have to use any other product. When I took it down the next day she had so much curl definition. They curls were a really pretty deep ringlet. It looked beautiful and smelled great! I don't use it as a daily regimen though! I ONLY use the pudding after I wash it and I use other products like the Miss Jessie's buttercream or Oyin's whipped pudding to keep it maintained and moisturized throughout the week. Also, I twist it back up every other night until i rewash after 1 week. I recommend this for any frustrated mother struggling to find something to tame their child's natural hair without putting a perm on. If this doesn't work, because we all know that no one thing works for everyone, keep trying! Do more research! My goodness I have tried many products. There is something out there to help but thankfully for me and hopefully for you, Miss Jessie's is it!

Iheartmykurlz - Hair Type: 3b I LOVE this product. It really is the best darn curl creme period...well so far. This styling product can be used a gel for frizzy edges and defines curls like a mousse. I love the smell. The reason I give it a 3 is because in order to keep your hair soft you have to apply a dime to quarter size amount of oil to your hair first and it is too expensive for amount you have to use because my hair is THICK and COARSE 3B.

GuyanaGal718 - Hair Type: 3c I actually liked this product. However, you have to use a lot of product to get the desired results. I have ALOT of hair, so I would soak up a jar within a few weeks especially since I couldn't achieve second day hair with this product. Like the rest of their products, good stuff, but not worth the price. You can find other alternatives that work as good if not better.

KMallie - Hair Type: 4b I absolutely love this product!!! Yea, its kinda expensive, but its worth every penny. I love the scent and the soft hold that it gives my hair. The techniques that they demonstrate on their website (www.missjessies.com) are very easy to do and work wonders for my hair. My favorite is the twist-out technique which gives my hair the defined curls that I wish I had naturally. I would recommend this to anyone with natural hair.

TaraVictoria - Hair Type: 3b I wasn't too thrilled with this product - it left me with "fluff". It's pretty strong scented too. Love the packaging but the product wasn't a great success. I do have thick curls, so I may have needed something else... this wasn't it......

curliebird - Hair Type: 4b I hated this product! I tried it many ways before I gave it up natural, two strand twist etc. It made my hair natural hair flaky with white spots when it dried. It does not work for the Phila humidity. Its too thick for my already natural thick kinky hair and didnt help elongate my curl pattern. I let my mom use it, who's hair is also natural but wavier and limp but it did the same for her. I'd like to try the other products on the line someday, but for now I'm stuck on kinky curly curling custard!

azuridiva - Hair Type: 4a Good Product for curl definition, but my 4a hair was left a bit stiff. You have to use a good bit and it has a tendancy to take a long time to dry and it flakes. I would say that if you are going to use a dryer this product is great, but for air drying regular old curl activator will give you softer, similar curls.

sednique009 - Hair Type: 4b this stuff is great but very exspensive.i love the smell and the hold that it puts on my hair is the best.the only turn off is that it's very greasy.and makes my hair flake.other wise it's a great product.

Berbertop - Hair Type: 4a Great product - I guess the company heard complaints about the strong scent so now they offer an unscented version. Works best for me when I apply a little of my conditioner to my hair first (I use KeraCare's Humecto creme conditioner on my 4a hair). It also allows you to use less Pudding, which is a big plus considering how expensive it is! My hair stays frizz free even when I use a diffuser to dry it in the morning :)

longwavycurls - Hair Type: 3b This the only leave-in product that i think has worked the BEST for my 3b/3c hair. I followed directions and let airdry, my hair was frizz-free, soft, and felt smooth and healthier. It has a strong grape smell to it which is okay. And for my second-day hair all I do is add alcohol-free gel and it makes my hair shine and still keeps the frizz away! I can leave this product in my hair for about 3 days before washing it out. I hate that its so expensive, but its worth it!

Suburbanbushbabe - Hair Type: 4a This product made my 3c texturized curls look great. It's a heavy cream/gel and takes a while to dry. Its fragrance, while pleasant is quite strong and I had to stop using it due to seasonal asthma. I now prefer lighter products on my 4a natural hair.

cher - Hair Type: 4a I like this stuff, but I don't know that it was meant for those living in humid climates. I can't rely on my style to remain frizz free throughout the day w/this product.

davala10 - Hair Type: 3c This stuff smells good, but why does it cost $38??? It only works when your hair is soaking wet and when it drys you end up with a crunchy mess. If you have 3 hours a day to devote to drying and styling your hair this might be the product for you.

trj1922 - Hair Type: 3c This is a 4 curl fave for me. It's great for smoothing and definition on kinkier curls. It also provides weight and elongation to prevent the wacky fuzz ball look when my hair is down.

lrod - Hair Type: 2b I live by this stuff. I've never found a product before where all I do is put it in and I'm done. I can let my hair air dry and everyone thinks I have gorgeous hair (trust me, it looks completely different without the pudding). Also, it smells fantastic.
If you're hair is closer to wavy, like mine, just put leave a little conditioner in when you rinse, and work some pudding in. Don't dry it with a towel, just scrunch and blow dry so it's not dripping. After that I can let it air dry and there's NO FRIZZ! (unless I drive with the windows down when it's still wet :)
