I really like this product! It really helped define my curls and eliminate frizz. If I used a lot my hair would be crunchy, so you just need to know how much your hair can handle. But all in all it was a great product.

I, myself, hate this stuff--well, my hair hates it. I think it has to do with the silicone in it. My mother's hair (3c/4a) loves it, though. So, I take 5 and I give 3 for my Mom.

One of the worst curl styling products ever! The smell of it is on the sickening side. Totally awful! Also, it left my hair with a very coated and dry look to it as well. This product left my curls looking and feeling like a total mess. Never again will I purchase this product!

This is one of my favorite curly hair products for wash and go hair. It has excellent hold and retains some moisture. I like the way my curls come out. The downside would that it doesnt have a scent and it can make my hair crunchy so I usually add a creme on top.

I bought this product on a whim just to try out Mixed Chicks, despite the ingredient list (A 'cone? In my curly hair product? It's more likely than you think!). My hair really liked it! Initially it felt crunchy, even after adding a bit of olive oil, but the next day after a bit of scrunching, my curls feel sooooooooo soft and defined. If it weren't for the 'cone (granted a low-key 'cone), parabens and the price, it would be a staple. I'lll see if I have a change of heart by the end of the bottle. :)

I have been natural for 3 years and this is the best product I've tried for my hair. What works for one may not work for all but THIS makes my curls look unreal! People ask me what type of rods I use in my hair and they think I'm lying when I say it's natural. I have 2 hair textures and it works well on both. It's definiltey better on finer hair than hair that is more coarse.

bought this for my daughter. i thought this would be what i have been looking for to moisturize her hair but i was so wrong! it didnt do any thing for her hair. i bought the whole set shampoo, cond, leave in, and the glosser. the only thing i liked about it was the glosser. it didnt make her hair softer or her curls manageable. it left her hair dry and nasty feeling i used the up the products then moved on to something else.

My hair had a HATE > LOVE relationship with this product. When I first purchased it (the large bottle), there was NOTHING that I liked about it; it did nothing for my hair, it didn't smell all that great, etc. I could not find a single redeeming quality so I tossed it in the trash after 1 use (like an idiot!). Fast forward 6 months later...........using this AS A STYLER over my LI + coconut oil, brought my wash-n-gos to life! Soft, defined, moisturized and volumous curls.

Lots of product build up from this once it dries on your hair. Sure the finished product may look gr8 on your hair, but once its dry, don't expect to twirl your fingers through your curls without stirring up some flakage (almost in a powdery, dusty look). When I first went natural I loved this product, but only because my hair was about 1" long and didn't require a lot of product for the results I wanted (the nice uniform non-frizzy curly look we all wish to achieve). As it grew I needed more product to achieve this look, consequently I was going through bottles like no body's business and found myself just pulling my hair back once my hair was completely dry (b/c I was disatisfied with the results as a wash n' go conditioner on a "wearing my hair down" style. I would recommend this for short hair- those who've just BC'ed or making the transition. I wish I could post pics in the reviews of how my hair reacted to this product, b/c it's all I used in the beginning.

I really love this product, nothing defines and holds my curls all day long like this! I have gotten up to 3 day hair with it just re-wetting some parts and adding more of it. I do wear this over my conditioner to add more moisture. I took one star away because if I let my hair air-dry, it could literally take over 8 hours! Also, alot of parabens and some silicones but overall, it's a staple product for me. And for the girls who felt this made their hair too stiff, just scrunch the curls once they're dry to soften.

as a 4a,4b I have to say I was not excited with this out the gate...however with the Mixed Chicks deep conditioner as as a part of my prepoo regime I have grown fonder of this... however the $20 price tag makes me think I'll probably not make it a part of my staple... I had to chill out on the PJism as it has become like a utility bill, i.e, phone, cable, electric, hair products...eeek! I would recommend it if your hair is going through serious transition and needs something extra... its one to keep on the side but definitely can find other, less expensive leave-ins that do the trick, like Suave Tropicals Coconut Conditioner, Aussie Moist and Hello Hydration by Herbal Essence.

In spite of the ingredients I love it. It consistently works better for me than many of the 'natural' leave ins I have. Always guarantees a good hair day. Haven't tried by itself with no styler over it, but seems it has hold, as I always wish I used less of whatever styler I put over it. Good for moisture, shine and definition.

Finally tried this product. A friend recommended it and I was surprised at how much I liked it. I had read negative and positive reviews and was not sure how it would work for me. I washed my hair, conditioned, sectioned and applied the MC Leave In with a little water to help smooth it on. After my hair dried my curls were defined and had plenty of shine with very little frizz. I really like this product. The only reason I gave it a 4 was due to some of the ingredients. I prefer products with more natural ingredients.

The conditioner is pretty good. I got defined curls and great slip and very shiny. I actually prefer this product in as a 2nd/3rd day refresher (with a bit of water) or in my pre-poo mixture. I don't think the conditioner is compatible with the shampoo because the shampoo is a bit drying.

My daughter is mixed (black/white) and we have tried everything under the sun for her curly frizzy hair. I have spent lots of money on drug store products and nothing works. Everything is either for African/American women or Caucasian women. We started using the Curls products after stumbling upon it online and were semi satisfied. There are too many products and too many steps you have to go through with the Curls line which result in spending a lot of money and I still don't quite get the results I am looking for. I saw an ad for Mixed Chicks in a magazine and decided to give it a try. This stuff is amazing. I will never use anything else for my daughters hair. I leaves her curls so defined, soft and frizz free. I love it.

3 stars because there's nothing really special about this product that warrants the hefty price tag. Actually, I'm baffled that the owners claim they had difficulty finding products for their hair since this product is nothing more than a creamy gel. I wouldn't dare use this as a traditional creamy leave-in. It contains PVP (4th ingredient after water) which is what clumps and holds the curls and is a major component of many hair gels. This product worked for my hair but not in the way the owners suggest to use it. They twist and scrunch in about 2 to 3 quarter sized dollops for their entire heads. My super tight 4a/3c hair requires about 16 to 20 quarter sized dollops, raked into (no scrunching) soaking wet hair then air dried (I also apply a leave-in underneath this). My curls dry a little stiff but this is, after all, a creamy gel. I also found this stuff works really well as a setting lotion with flexi rods. All-in-all, this stuff is okay, but it contains cones, parabens, and you can most certainly can get similar results with a creamy leave-in and a $5 jar of Fantasia IC gel. Just remember, though this is marketed as a leave-in conditioner, it's not like your traditional leave-in. It contains gel-like properties which mean you hair may dry stiff or crunchy.

My first time with this product was a rather good experience. It seemed to moisturize well, tame the frizz, and have a nice volume to it. I was rather satisfied. At the end of the day, it seemed dry and dull. The results did not last. I tried holding my hair up in a pineapple style ponytail as suggested by Mixed Chicks, but I couldn't achieve 2nd day hair. I tried to co-wash and retry the product the following day but the silicone was weighing down my hair. If I wanted somewhat good results, I had to shampoo my hair, and I didn't find it worth the while to shampoo daily (drying out my curls) to achieve the curls that stood well for no longer than 8 hours. This product reminded me of the Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In. The results were similar from a view, but Mixed Chicks definitely left my hair softer. I only wish it didn't have silicone or parabens in it so I can co-wash. Perhaps then it wouldn't leave my hair so dry and dull.

On a positive note, it did leave my hair very soft and frizz control was around 70%. The con, not as much curl definition as I would have liked and I did follow the instructions posted on their website. This product was just okay. I did not like it, but did not hate it either. I received it free from a relative who tried it and wasn't impressed. It did an okay job of moisturizing my hair but by the end of the day my hair was dry (relative who gave it to me had the same complaints). Left a sort of greasy coating on my hair (perhaps the glycerin) sort of like when you use vege glycerin except it did not completely absorb. Did not define my curls though I don't think it was designed for that purpose. Used it on my daughters hair though to finish off the bottle. Was very similar to drug store moisturizers ( pink oil etc) would not purchase again especially considering the price.

3 Ways Mixed Chicks Has helped my Curls. 1~ My curls are more defined . The ringlets tend to separate and coil more definitively. 2~As a result of my first reason, my curls have more spring and bounce. My curls aren't sealed and unmovable, and that adds to the natural untouched beauty of my curls. 3~ My curls are more healthy , and less frazzled looking . Mixed chicks ingredients has helped with my overall hair health. I would get the split-ends clipped and start over with other products, Mixed chicks was the only one that kept them healthy . I love to use this when I wear my hair out or just need a little more control for my crazy 3b hair. I am white with really curly, thick hair and love that this product doesn't dry my hair out, cause crunchiness or much shrinkage. Yet it still controls frizz while giving me a soft, natural curl pattern with some extra shine. I mostly use pretty natural products, but until I find something that works as good I will happily keep using it!

I really love the result this gives. My hair is really thick and tends to be frizzy and this tames my hair and gives awesome definition. However I am not too sure about the ingredients, I wish it was more natural. My hair is really damaged and I'm afraid it is not helping the cause.

I LOOOOOOVE this product! It can be used for so many styles! Ponytails, puffs, twist-outs, comb-outs, just about anything you can think of! The first couple times I tried it, I didn't like it...my hair felt kind of crunchy and filmy. After a couple more tries I realized that I had just been using too much product. If you use it only on damp hair and you're careful not to use too much, it gives AMAZING results. To this day, I haven't found a product that gives me the same curl definition, weightless feel, and sheen...not shine, but SHEEN! I really LOVE this product and I wish I had more! I live in Indianapolis where I can't seem to find a retailer so I have to get it offline :/ I highly recommend this product for anyone with hair ranging from 3A-4C...I let a friend try it (her hair is more on the 2A/2B scale) and she said it didn't do much for her.

I must say it is lighter than Curly Pudding. It is also softer. I did have very touchable curls but with me being a 3C it just wasn't ENOUGH. I had touchable hair but it was easy to frizz if I played with it. I also didn't see the sheen I was used to with Curly Pudding. I did make it look better when I added Coconut oil on top but it still didn't have what I was looking for. A good second place to Curly Custard from Kinky Curly. (I'm using that now)

I didn't like this product. I tried it several times and was never happy with it as a styler. It is an okay leave-in, but not great. It certainly didn't justify using a product with silicones in it for me. I have to really like them to use a silicone. This one didn't do that and I hated the smell of it.

I liked this product a lot. Made my 3b/3c hair look fabulous! Second day styling was good too but my hair was a bit dry. Kim of Mixed Chicks recommended I do what she does and use the leave in without the water on the second and subsequent days until I'm ready to restyle. Worked well!

This is the best styling product I have ever used. I used to use about 3/4 products now I only use this. Provides good definition, soft non crunchy curls & 2nd day hair! My only gripe is it could be a little stronger hold but I can spritz with a bit of gel spray over the top without problem.

One of my absolute favorites. It reminds me of Mane N Tale - anyone ever use that? Same color, smell, texture...hmmm - but I don't remember it being so useful. I use it right after a shower - right before I step out - and again, just a little, after towel drying my hair. Once it dries a bit, I run my fingers through and it looks great - then I use some conditioning mist or oil for frizz, and I'm set. You can also leave it in and let it dry and NOT run your fingers through, and it's a thick, sleek hold that isn't greasy looking. I especially like this product the first few days after a haircut - tames the shock without weighing it down.

I love mixed chicks! This stuff is amazing. My hair used to be so dry and lifeless but not anymore, with mixed chicks I get defined ringlets that are so pretty(I get so many compliments now). This stuff has answered my prayers. If you don't like a lot of body I wouldn't recommend it because it does tend to make my hair a bit larger than it used to be.

I cut the relaxer out of my hair 2 months ago so I'm new to the naturally curly. My hair is 3B and I love it. At first I was using Sebastian Wet which was great but it was drying out my hair, I tried Miss Jessie's curly pudding and it was ok but the Mixed Chicks Leave-in conditioner works wonders! My hair stays moist and has sheen. My curls aren't as defined as when I was using Sebastian Wet but with a little twisting here and there it looks just as good. I've received many compliments!

This one disappointed me, but to be fair it's probably better suited for another hair type. It left my hair dry and frizzy, and for some reason my strands didn't really seem to want to absorb it. Still had visible product residue approximately two to three hours post application. Took a few CO washes to bring back my hair's softness and restore an acceptable moisture level. Would not purchase again.

By far the best ever. I'm black (not biracial) and have soft hair and curls. I have tried products from the ethnic shelves and it was too greasy and made my hair heavy. Then i tried non ethnic products and it made my hair dry and frizzy. Mixed Chicks is perfectly in between, because its for a mixture of hair types and needs. Also you can talk to the creators they have a lot of helpful tips....... Sharena, 24 -Indiana

Pros: Initially made my hair feel soft; Defined my curls. Cons: "Chemical" scent; Took forever to absorb into my hair and that subsequently increased my hair's drying time (thank God I tried it on a weekend and not when I had to go to work); Left a film on my hair that dried into flakes resembling dandruff; Did not mix well with other styling products (again, more flaking!!); The price I paid ($19+Tax at a store in NYC); The ingredients are suspect.

At first, it was very disappointing because made my hair too puffy after a few hours. Several of the other reviewers have mentioned this problem. But I found a way to counteract that: I apply it in the shower when my hair is sopping wet, and I mix it with honey! Somehow, that combination prevents the puffiness from forming. Now it is perfect all day. No puffiness, no frizz, perfect definition. It's now the best of the many products I've tried.

I LOVE this product and this company. This product is great because it's a great way to moisturize and style to prevent frizz all in one product. You can put in less if you want a natural feel, and put in more if you want more hold or want to fight the humid weather. Plus, the owners/managers are great people. They often send little free samples with an order in the mail. I asked for specific products to be sent as samples and they sent me ten of them! After being a loyal customer to them ever since I discovered them years ago, they just sent me a free t-shirt along with my last purchase as a gift. How great is that!

i have biracial hair and i decided to try out mixedchicks because i thought it was for my kind of hair. i applied it to my hair when it was wet and worked it through my hair. when it dried when it was down it was very puffy and big and didn't really control the volume. so i started wearing it in a ponytail and it looked very nice while it was drying, but once it dried, the ponytail itself was really puffy and felt dry/not moisturized enough. it did form nice corkskrew curls though. but the front of my hair on top looked very nice and flat with waves. i would give this product four curls if i could wear my hair down without a lot of volume and frizz.

I'm not sure how people are using this system and not loving it. It is the absolutely best product I have ever used! I've found the products work best together and your hair has to be wet to apply the product. I shampoo and deep condition 1-2x/week and just rinse and reapply the conditioner in the morning. It's likely for the folks that still get frizz or get drier your hair is damaged, try a protein treatment.

The smell is not a good one, andthe product does not help the hair to retain moisture at all!And you can only use it on wet hair, which means that you'll have to wet your hair everyday in order to use it. Which is one of the many gripes that I have with this product. It also doesn't do a good job of keeping your hair frizz free all day, and it is not-an-all-in-one product for curly hair either. The only good thing going for this productis that it does help with curl definition.
