I use this as the C (LOC method) when I do perm rod sets and twist outs and it works well. It really defines my curls and when dry it gives my styles definition and bounce. Some say it can leave their hair hard, but when styling I like the hold. I wish it added more moisture unfortunately. If used too much it will flake when it dries. For the price, it's a good buy.
I am Mevcurls but I lost my information so now this is me . This product is certainly great. It mixes with gels , pomades and moisturizers easily and it provides shiny , beautiful twist outs and film free wash n gos . It makes my twa look so shiny and healthy , therefore I always get compliments when I use it . The only problem is that it is so small and it is very expensive in my country and it contains silicones yet this does not take away its superiority. I am still a pj so I will still try every new product out there until I find that one multi tasker but this is great .
I loved this ! It was wonderful. I added some glycerin , honey and my vo5 shea butter condish to it because of complaints of it being drying and hard and it became thick , creamy and wonderful. Also I applied it with the Garnier curl crunch gel and it was so defining that I decided to add it to the mix since it was nearly done. The result was bouncy , shiny , non-crunchy 4a curls which I love . Definately will try again. This may even become one of my holy grails. p.s. I didn't have to use a leave -in beneath it . :)
A very nice cleansing cowash. Check out my full review by copying the link and pasting it in the address bar...... http://youtu.be/SMEJ2T6tCcg
This product provided great hold. My hair lasted a good two-three days. The drawback to this product was the lack of moisture. This product provided no moisture whatsoever. Maybe if used with a heavy moisturizer, it would work better. I used with SM's Curl Enhancing Smoothie, and although it was slightly hard, after separating and fluffing, that problem was eliminated for the most part. The biggest problem was the unmoisturized, not soft hair I was left with. I'll probably use this again if I have no more options, but other than that, I feel that I can live without this product.
I was able to try this product through Naturally Curly and it took a few tries before I was convinced. The first time I used it, it felt too sticky on my 3B hair. I used it again after co-wsing with the Truly Natural Co-Wash. I used the Truly Natural Shine Serum with Argan Oil, then applied the styling custard. The result was soft, nicely defined curls. There's a tiny bit of hardness where the custard went on more thickly, but I have not noticed any flaking. I like it and I'll definitely use it again!
The curl custard gave my hair some curl definition but this product dried out my hair. I used it once for a wash and go and after my hair dried, it had a crunchy feel to it. My 4a hair did not like this product.
As a curl custard, it did absolutely nothing for my 4c hair. I thought since the color/texture was not too milky and dense that it would at least define my curls that would last more than a couple of hours. Unfortunately, the curls were hit or miss, after about 4 hours into my workday, my hair reverted to the afro look. I only used Pantene Products for the twist out look I was trying to achieve. I also had so many flakes in my hair that I had to wash it out that afternoon when I got home. I thought it was from applying too much product so I tried it again and same results. It didn't do anything to define my curls without actually installing twists and the hardness of my hair and flakes was a "no-no" for me.
I LOVED how this worked with my twist out. I used it with coconut oil and my twists were soft and shiny and held their shape better. I think with this product less is more - my hair didnt get crunchy like many other reviewers mentioned. A teensy bit of flakes after a few days, but overall I'd continue to use it.
Did absolutely nothing for my hair. Did a twist out and my curls were DRY. I had to use another styler from another brand to resurrect my style.
This product didn't do anything for my curls. After drying is didn't leave my hair soft. Will not be adding this to my dailies.
This left my hair a little hard and I was unable to comb through it but gave me spirally curls that lasted a few days.
used this product on a twist out. This left my twist out defined for many days but left it dry feeling and i noticed a few flakes. The smell was nice. I added oil and aloe juice spritz to my hair to combat the dryness which seemed to help. I wont purchase this product again, but will use the rest and try to doctor it up to combat the dryness and flakes.
I Used this after using the shampoo and deep conditioner as well as after the co wash......It has a great smell but as others mentioned, it makes my hair very hard and dry & when re applied, causes flakes. I used this along with the Argon Oil shine serum(using more of the serum as I experimented more) and it still felt stiff. The stiffness does help with definition in certain areas of my hair, but made it hard and kind of matted looking in other areas. Will Need to experiment with this more with oils to counter act the dryness
I received this product from Naturally Curly to review and I was quite pleased with it. I liked the smell and my curls were popping after applying to my hair while damp. A little goes a long way, and my hair didn't get crunchy or flaky.
It smells nice and it's really nice for a twist out. I used it with some coconut oil because when used alone it kind of made my hair feel kind of brittle and that helped
OMG my curls were POPPIN after using this stuff lol. I've not used many curl puddings because I don't do wng's on my hair. But the day that I used this stuff I got amazing results. Since I like to try things more than once (3 times to be exact), I can't give a good or bad review. Right now it's an amazing product and I will purchase it. The down side is that it made my hair a bit crunchy. It wasn't bad but still.
This product did aid with curl definition. I did not have to use a lot of product, but the benefit was noticeable
Not for me. I think my hair is too on the damaged side to use this. It just gave me copious amounts of frizz and no hold. I have dry, damaged, coarse and curly hair. I would probably recommend this if your hair is in good, strong & healthy condition. On the plus side, I liked the smell.
My curls were defined, but my hair was dry and on the crunchy side, which I don't like. My twistout lasted me a couple of days, but I had to re-moisturize the second day, which I normally do not have to do. It takes very little product to do your entire head, so a little goes a long way with this product. And the smell is awesome.
Wow made my curls pop, they had hydration and shine. I also got 5 day curl retention on this so that is a big plus for me. I have tried other brands that gave defintion for about 2 days then go to frizz after that. So whenever I can get more that a weeks worth of curl define, this is a milestone for my hair.
I love this custard! I received it from Naturally Curly for review and I am a big fan of this product. I got great curl definition with absolutely no frizz. A small amount goes a long way. If you use too much your hair will be crunchy. This product works well for twist outs and "wash and gos". It smells great and it works well with all the products in the line and products that I have outside the line. I love that this products works like a high end product at such a low price. You also get a great amount f for the price. I highly recommend this product and it is now a staple so I will be repurchasing.
I really like this product! I have pretty kinky hair so I don't usually go for the whole "defined curl" look and I definitely don't try wash and gos.. but I love this product for twist out and braid outs. The hold was nice but it wasn't too crunchy and it smells great, A little product goes a long way and the price is inexpensive.
I have type 3a hair, and this product was not for me. That doesn't mean it's not a good product; just not right for my hair. I had never used a custard before and decided to try it. It made my curls too crunchy, even after scrunching out the a lot of the crunch, and it REALLY messed up my day 2 hair. I could not recover my curls at all the next day. As with the other products in this line, I was really disappointed to see the high alcohol content. Might explain why my hair was a dry, frizzy mess the next day...
This was the worst product on my hair (color treated 4-ac). On the positive, this gave me defined curls. However, my hair was extremely dry, even with the application of the shine serum.
I really likes the way my hair looked with this product but it was very drying to my hair. It does not moisturize at all. I might try it again with a leave in under it. Second day hair was a complete no go due to the dry frizziness.
I am not one who likes product in my hair and when I use it I don't like crunchy, hard, or flaky residues so yes - I was apprehensive, clueless, and skeptical when I first used this. I did a WNG using this product and I did not like the way my hair felt. As I said before, I don't do hard or crunchy. After thinking about the products purpose and liking the fact that it defined my curls like nothing before I tried it again. I actually did a two-strand twist (something I have sworn off because my hair never looked good afterwards) and the end result was AMAZING! My curls were popping and gave me life! Lol, seriously I am keeping this one in rotation too and can't wait to try other styles with it. Just when I thought I would never be able to try anything other than a braid out on my hair...
This product has good hold. It definitely defines my curls. However, it is so drying! My hair felt brittle after the product dried. I wish I could have the hold without the dryness. I'm not going to use it again.
This product defined like no one's business! *2 snaps* The only reason I am giving a four out of five is because IMO it does not double as a moisturizer and styler so I have to use a moisturizer underneath and scrunch with oil after the curls are set. The product works best if you dry your wash and go with a hooded dryer on cool air.
I truly wanted to give this product a 5 because despite some of the issues other reviewers have had, I only experienced absolute bliss. Typically my hair looses length and definition in high humidity (which is always where I live), and I've struggled to find a product that would at least maintain one or the other. Imagine my surprise when I started using this product and was able to maintain length AND definition throughout the day and into the next. No frizz, no shrinkage, no loss of definition, and my hair is soft and touchable. I only use the amount you would use if you were applying lip balm on each section, braid overnight, and then unbraid in the morning. Because I've been through almost all of the products that are good for my hair without the same results, something inside told me that I was probably experiencing this success because of something in the ingredients I've been avoiding. I wasn't wrong and was so sad when I looked at the ingredients and found dimethicone. I've been avoiding "cones" because I don't like to use shampoos w/sulfates, and I don't like to wash often. So I'm giving this product a 3 because of the ingredients, but a 5 for the way it delivers what it says it will.
The styling custard has a good fragrance. It is a bit too lightweight for my kinky hair. I did not feel it was penetrating into my hair strands well enough to last. I would have liked for it to be thicker and creamier. It also dried out too quickly for me and after it dried my hair looked kind of dull and felt a little crunchy. On the plus side though, there was no flaking!
Tried it for a twist out and loved the results. Good mix of hold and moisture. Can't beat the price!
When Pantene changed the name of its product from Relaxed & Natural to Truly Natural, I thought it might be just a marketing thing. But this product shows me that they did some research into what naturals really use. It's a cheap alternative to products like Curly Pudding and KKCC.
I used this several times with twists and it worked really well. It was moisturizing and had good hold. I did use an oil to get rid of crunch but loved the way my hair looks. Would definitely buy again.
What I liked about this product is that the definition of my twist out was great. What I didn't like was how dry my hair felt. My hair was stiff after air drying, but after adding a little oil it was ok. My hair looked great, I was not, however, a fan of the way it felt. It was not as soft as I would like and it was SO dry feeling. Even my go to leave in conditioners didn't help much. I think if they would figure out a way to make it more moisturizing, this would be a pretty good product.
This product left my hair crunchy and dry. It did define my curls, but it basically acted as a smooth gel, sucking the moisture out of every strand. I would purchase this again in place of a traditional gel, but not for everyday styling.
The smell of this product - lovely and fresh. Also, the texture is really nice; it is between a lotion and a creme and very nice for curl definition. However, the end result is dry, stiff hair. My hair felt like straw and it was a situation I could not remedy with any amount of oil or additional additives in styling. The jojoba and coconut oil in this product are not significant enough to combat the dryness it produces. This was unfortunate because I did enjoy the definition it offered. However, knowing that I can get soft hair AND defined curls with other products, I would not re-visit this one.
