This actually works in laying down edges. But leaves a lot of white flaky residue after it dries.
It worked for a while, like for two hours my edges were laid but then it dried and my edges were puffy.
I'm not one for sleek styles, so I used this product on my dry, curly hair (2B-3A) as a means to smooth down frizzies and flyaways. It worked incredibly well and did NOT leave me looking greasy or feeling sticky. I will continue to use it like this, and turn to it if I ever do need a slicked-back 'do!
I used this product on my hair which is 3b-c and on my daughter hair which is 4b-c. This product works well, a lot way goes along way. It provides excellent shine and hold. The product is priced economically to acheive these phenomenal results. I even added water to refresh it and it worked perfectly!
This is one of the original Edge Tamers, if not the very FIRST one to hit the market. I am glad they have stayed true to the formula. It really is amazing. It is thick, so a little can go a long way. It holds really well without the crunch or pasty feeling of a typical gel. It does not flake and it can be reactivated with a little bit of moisture. To step it up a bit, tie your hair down with a scarf after applying for a "salon finished" look.
This product does what it says holding your edges, but I feel as I need to wash my hair after using it. It has a cakey feel, and then that leaves a white residue.
I really like this edge control not only for my edges but also to make pony tails. It gives my hair shine and holds the hair in place nicely. I have purchased this edge control about two times and I feel that it is worth the price tag and I would recommend this edge control to others. I did receive this product from naturallycurlly.com but I was not paid for my review, this is my honest opinion.
I had a good experience using the edge control. I didn't notice any flaking and I loved the shine that it gave my hair. It did an awesome job and laying down my curls and it works even better if you apply a scarf to lay it down even more. The fragrance wasn't too bad and a little goes a long way. I would recommend!
I really liked this edge control gel. It did the job of smoothing down my edges, especially if I used it and then tied my hair down to reinforce the smoothness. I didn't get consecutive days of smoothness without misting my hair with water, smoothing, and then tying my hair down again. It did a great job of holding and it wasn't hard. Using too much can and did cause buildup that you can see, but it rinsed out of my hair very easily. The price is great, and I would purchase this again upon running out.
I loved this edge control gel! I also received this for review from naturally curly, but this is my own and honest opinion. I did not get any white residue from this product at all. Maybe they were using too much? Not sure. I only used a little of the product, rubbed it between my hands and then put it on my hair after spritzing my edges with water. Never had any white residue, or buildup, and sometimes i used it several days in a row. It held my edges down all day, around 10 hours. Rinsed out easily from my hair. Excellent price, will use it all and will absolutely purchase it myself. :)
This worked great for smoothing down my hair when I put it up. It put my frizzies to rest. It holds like a palmade and even though it is a little tacky and slightly it stills moisturizes. It also works great as a base for some extra hold when using heat on your hair-like a curling iron. I tried to use it on 2/3 day hair but it didn't work as well as I hoped. It didn't really smooth my hair or tame any frizz for second day hair, just made it sticky and full of product. I didn't experience any white residue like some others did.
I was selected as a power reviewer for this product. I have 3C curls and only attempted to use this product on my edges with a couple of different natural styles. I found that ECO styler gel did more for my edges than this product did. The ORS Olive Oil Edge Control left a white residue and did not blend well with the texture of my edges. It sort of sat on top of my hair like a pomade instead of blending. However when I used a blow dryer to blow dry my hair the edge control blended well but still left a white residue.
I agree this product does provide the hold us 4c naturals need. However, the white residue takes away from the style. Say you only want to apply this product in certain areas, you will visibly see where it is. Ugh, I am determined to find a great edge control.
I was selected to give my power review for the produced ORS OLIVE OIL EDGE CONTROL. I have to admit I really like the fact it's wasn't sticky. I have curly hair and it's hard to find products that actually work on my hair. It laid my edges down w/o making it feel like grease. Thank you for sending me this product NATURALLYCURLY
Ugh. I was excited about using this product because I was looking for something to hold down the ends of my hair and keep it frizz-free. However, this product leaves a white residue on my dark brown highlighted curls and, if you touch your hair, it gets even worse! I tried taming the white product by using water, and it worked, but at the cost of having less hold. The smell is, to say the least, horrendous. It is very chemically smelling and to be honest, because of it, I didn't even want to try the product to begin with. I wouldn't use this as a second day hair tamer either. It seems to work better with damp hair than dry hair.
I received the ORS Olive Oil Edge Control for review, this opinion is 100% mine. My 3c hair loves this product. It didn't turn my hair white and it held my edges down really well. I work 9 hour days sometimes and my hair stayed in place for the duration. I also live in South GA and it's very humid here but my ORS Edge Control held it's own. I didn't use very much at all, I got a small amount on my fingertips and rubbed it together before applying it. I will definitely use it from here on out. I work in a beauty supply store and this is definitely the most economical of those we offer and it works great! No need to pay an arm and a leg for product, a win-win!!
For type 4b hair like mine I would need an edge control with a stronger hold than this one. After. Few hours I would find that I would need to touch up the area I used this product. I gave this product a 3 because it did leave my hair soft in the area applied and did not leave a residue.
I have some mixed feelings about this product. First, let me start by saying that I have super fine, thin 3a hair. I was unable to get this to work on wet hair that I intended to style in my curls. It didn't matter how much or how little I used, I just couldn't figure it out. However, I used it for ponytail days and taming some pieces of frayed end frizz. For those purposes it was great. No frizzy pieces came popping out of the ponytail and it was just enough hold to deal with the frayed ends without looking crunchy. I'm not entirely sure that I would put this on my must have list, but as a 'here and there' product it was pretty good.
I received the ORS Olive Oil Edge Control for review, this opinion is 100% mine. I have a frohawk and this product held down my edges really well. I was able to mold my short hair down and it did not flake nor did it make my hair hard. I love this gel and it works good on my 3c hair. I am on day 2 and no flakes. My edges are still slicked down. Sides are still molded down. It's a win for me :)
I received this item for review. However, the opinions are 100% mine. And I am so glad that I did. This is a GREAT product. I used it this morning for my bun. I was able to use it without any extra step. With other products I used to wrap a bandana around my head after using the product to make sure my edges were not coming back to play. Even after the humidity outside they laid down. Also, it left my hair nice and shiny. I had no flakes or white residue. I would recommend it to all my friends and family.
I use love this edge control, but that was when my hair was relaxed, however now that I am natural this product on my 4c hairl .. No Good. I put it on with a little spray of water first and it layed. Afterwards , about 10-15minutes my edges were frizzed back up , and also the product left a white residue as well.
This edge control is just OK. I have 3c/4a hair. It only really works when I don't have anything else on my hair which is unfortunate as I only need to slick down my hair on days that I don't feel like washing it. I don't like that it turns white. I don't like how much of it I need to make my hair lay down. Honestly, I only buy this edge control when I run out of my Design Essentials edge control because DE is only available at specific stores at specific times at ORS is sold at Walmart and CVS 24/7.
To start off, my edges are 4c so literally nothing can slick them down. I loved this product a lot and I used a ton and it would slick it back... for a while. Within 15 minutes I 'm left with white product residue. It it not good.
I think this product is ideal for relaxed and natural hair. I have used it on my natural hair countless times and I have also used it on my friends relaxed hair. It works as far as laying down the edges, but once it dries it turns white and that is a HUGE turn off.
