I personally like this product. I never co-washed my hair before because I was skeptical and thought that it wouldn't clean my hair. I tried this out because I got a large bottle for only around $4-$7 I think. At first I thought the smell was bad but when it's in your hair it smells so good and it lingers. It made my hair feel soft afterwards and it felt like my hair was actually being cleaned. My hair is thick and this product is thick so I actually managed to distribute it throughout my hair well, unlike most shampoos. (WARNING) this smell is actually very strong so beware if you are sensitive!
I like it how it is thick and creamy for extra moisture but that's it. After i am done showing i get this burning sensation and it was usually only a little, but one day it burned my whole head to the point i had to wash it out 2 o clock in the morning. Will not use it again!I hate mint flavored things for food why did i think it will be good for my hair.I don't know.
I'm not usually a big fan of Herbal Essences. in. I have found that their products usually dry my hair out. However, this one has changed my mind. I had been on the hunt for an affordable cleansing conditioner when I found this one. It has a nice, refreshing minty-fruity scent. It has a fairly thick consistency and takes a little bit of effort to work into the hair. However, after rinsing, it left my hair clean, refreshed, and moisturized. I love it!
I'm not going to rate this as a 5 because it's not perfect. However, I do very much LOVE this conditioner! It smells SO good, like a minty, rosemary scent. I love the cleansing ability, especially because my scalp tends build up gunk. It makes my hair so soft, and makes my curls a little bit tighter. It has a lot of moisture, but if you don't put any product that will help seal the moisture like mousse, or a leave-in conditioner, you will have a frizz fest. It recommends you use 2-3 pumps of this stuff, but you will definitely need more if your hair is long. I use about 5-7 pumps, and my hair is a little past shoulder length. Overall, I really enjoy this product. **UPDATE** I no longer use this conditioner because it started to weigh down my hair. I also noticed I had to wash my hair more because my hair felt greasier quicker. I had to wash my hair every other day. That's a lot considering I will go about 3 days without washing it. I gave it to my boyfriend. It's more convenient for him to use since it is only one step. I just use suave now.
I did not expect to like this co-wash, but suprisingly, I do! I am a sucker for anything minty or tingly smelling, and I love the smell of this. It smells like rosemary mint with a couple of drops of lavender added to balance out the super 'clean and refreshing' scent. I am beginning to suspect that I may need to follow a modified CG routine, since EVERY SINGLE TIME I use a product with silicones in it, my hair does amazingly well. The products I like best (TreSemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture, Aussie Moist, etc) all seem to provide my hair with a layer of moisture it just cannot hold onto without some sort of 'cone' in it. My hair does not retain moisture well at all. I'm not sure if the HE Naked actually cleansed my hair all that well, but I really wouldn't know the difference to begin with since I rarely shampoo my hair (maybe once a month), I just wanted something that would add moisture. My hair has an extreme dryness problem. I used this product and then co-washed with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle, then followed my normal routine of applying leave in, oil, and a styler. The result was gorgeous defined curls that have bounce, volume and body-AND 2 days later, my hair isn't dry as a bale of hay. I will definitely be using this product again and using a clarifying shampoo every two weeks to reduce buildup.
This cleansing conditioner was mediocre. First off its VERY thick. The smell is sort of minty but it just smells weird and off putting for me. It did cleanse my hair like it said it was supposed to, but it cleaned it no better than literally other conditioner out there. The slip was meh, nothing to rave about. It did not hydrate my low-porosity hair or do anything else for it. But the biggest reason why I did not like it was because it contains SILICONES. silicones in a cleansing conditioner? Big no no. With a cleansing conditioner its supposed to get rid of build up and dirt and grease, but this can cause build up because of the dimethicone in it. Im especially careful with silicones because my hair cuticle is flat enough as it is. Rather than the dimethicone i like the ingredients and the price, but i will not repurchase. (also this has menthol which is irritating for some people, and some people have a hyper sensitivity to it, just be careful for your first use)
I bought this on a whim last week, just to see what would happen. I love it! It smells wonderful (I could still smell it the next day) and my hair has never been softer or more curly. I used this, rinsed, no leave in and just mousse and had a lot of comments on how curly I was. You will need more than the 3-4 pumps suggested unless you have short hair. Mine is shoulder length and I use 5-6.
