I have 3a/3b hair--this is a perfect amount of hold for me on a day when I could air dry. It made well-defined, volumous curls. That said, it didn't have enough hold to deal with me defusing without getting some frizz, but in combo with a little gel it did fine either way. I have also used it as a refresher on day 2.
I really liked this product. I'm not one that normally likes to put a lot of heavy stuff in my hair. I would prefer my hair to just look awesome without feeling like there is anything in it! The smell is great. I was surprised at the consistency as it was really fluid like (almost like a leave in conditioner). I use it as a refresh on my curls after one of my no-wash nights. Definitely a product I will keep using!
The yummy light coconut smell and super affordable price point are definite pros. Of the Ecoco products I tried, this one worked the best for my 3B, shoulder length curls and even did a good job holding style the next day, which is always a plus! I liked that it worked well applied to wet or dry hair and worked in humid weather. However, I'd recommend using it intermittently as it started to build up after 3-4 consecutive days of use. Also, for a "natural" product this seemed to have a pretty long chemical list, but I did like that it was sulfate and paraben-free.
I have 2C, low porosity, high density, med width, long hair - which means I just clicked through the site to get my hair profile. :). Translated that means, thick Irish/Italian/Swedish hair that curls into ringlets on top and is annoyingly straighter in the underneath layers. I've got thirsty hair that gobbles up product and tends to frizz. I keep my hair long to help fight the frizz and the gravity defying body. So if you have similar hair I recommend this product. Shiny hair, yummy coconut smell (but it fades away, so it's not overpowering). I like that you can use it wet or dry. For me it was very helpful with the frizz factor. I was a little shocked (and pleased) how conditioned my hair looked day two.
Pros: Pleasant coconutty smell, wasn't too overbearing and blended in well with other 'natural' products I currently use. | Lightweight so didn't weight my hair down too much or leave any gunky residue (I think this is because it has more of a creamy consistency like conditioner rather than a custard). | Affordable! Which is a plus since my hair is so thick I found I used a lot more of this product than I have with other styling "puddings." Cons: Potentially too lightweight...for a casual "curly hair don't care" day this was perfect because it let my curls just BE without overdoing it in the frizz department; but because it was so lightweight I wouldn't use this for any occasion where I'm looking to actually control my curls. As the day wore on my hair definitely got bigger and some curls even loosened all the way out into waves (not in a good way). | Slightly sticky when first applied, the consistency almost reminded me of putting a really low-stick glue in my hair. I didn't like the feeling while my hair was wet/damp at all. And any spots that ended up with too much product were stiff like hair gel. | I don't love how many chemicals are in this product. At the end of the day, while the smell was natural the ingredients really are not. I prefer to stick to products that are at least majority all natural. | The packaging (yes I know that's picky but whatever!) something about the colors just remind me of old school cheap hair products, which just didn't give me a lot of confidence leading up to applying this product. Overall: I will probably only use this sparingly. I think it's a good option for styling light-control hairdos (like twist outs, etc) and for quick wash n' go situations where you're not super picky about the outcome (i.e. Sunday errand day). For real curl definition I will stick to Miss Jessie's.
First of all, I have somewhere between 2A and 3B curls. This product was great on the second and third days, but left my curls feeling a little sticky on the first day. Maybe I just used a bit too much. It was light enough to use as a refresher in between washes. I will probably try plopping again and just use a bit less.
Loved this! It's lightweight and left my hair with great hold without crunch. My twist out is soft, moisturized and held up in light humidity. I will buy this again!
I loved the consistency of this product. It did not make my hair crunchy or hard. It left my hair with lots of bounce and looked like healthy curls. I could touch up the next day so my curls/waves would staying looking new for days.
One of my favorites... I LOVED this stuff. Used it for a twist-out on damp hair, and left my hair so moisturized, shiny, and bouncy one I untwisted the next day.
I used this product on my hair and then braided my hair into 8 braids. I left the braids in overnight and When I took it down the next morning the waves were very defined and did not look dry (which is a problem I have often with products).I sprayed a little water on my hair and did not have to touch it for the rest of the day . I have gotten lots of compliments. I really like this product , it left my hair soft and did not leave any flakes or anything like some gel products tend to do.
love it check out my review!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVQL_qXnyTo&list=UUuD54jRY_XIQ8H4xxqt5vYw
I love this product. I achieved 4 day hair wearing my WnG with this. I prefer lite stylers and this is perfect. Left my hair moisturized, soft, bouncy, and full of life. I get so many compliments from men & women lol...HG!
Like Liah said below, the consistency really surprised me. It could pour out of the jar like conditioner -- not what I was expecting for a gel or custard type product. It almost felt like just water or aloe vera gel when you rub it in your hands. Not saying that's good or bad, just saying. I did the LOC method with this as my "C" and my hair felt a bit dry. Fluffed it up with some burnt sugar pomade and it was fine. Might just be the "cast" of the gel? I still have my favorites, which are actually natural ingredients. that *does* make them more expensive than this product. So if you're looking for something under 10 bucks, I think it's worth checking out. it's not a horrible product. I just don't feel like using it again. Would probably share with a friend though.
This product was pretty fluid for a gel. I was expecting a heavier consistency but it was really light for a gel. I know for myself, I prefer heavy gels that can weigh down my curls and make them stretch but this does a great job as well for a lighter version. If you're someone who's not really into gels cus they're usually too heavy for your curls, this would be a great product cus it's so light!! Also this product was great in that it didn't do that gunky, flaking generally gross crud looking thing gel can do if you leave it in too long. You get no flakes, just great light controlled definition! This would be an awesome product for setting twists as well! That's what I use it more for more so than my wet go. Overall, pretty satisfied!
This product totally sucked after receiving this version including two other versions from a monthly subscription I've tried each of them several times with different styles sometimes using less bc I thought it was me. It leaves my hair completely dry, rough, hard to manipulate and my curls dead. I've put it on after deep conditioning and using oil and it just did not make a difference. I will never use it again. I have 3b/c hair texture.
This is a wonderful product. I used it on myself and I have (3C) and (4A) hair. I know, a tricky combination but this product left my wash and go shiny and defined. There is a degree of shrinkage, but I like that because it gives me "bodyful" curl. My son has 3C hair and I applied it to his hair in a chunky twist out. And it came out amazing. Another thing I like about this is that you can apply it to dry hair also and it will give you a more stretched curl. I do this to my ends to refresh my curls in the morning. The product has a good water to product ratio allowing you to reapply it as needed. LOVE!
This is by far the worst product Eco Styler has come up. This stuff left my hair limp and feeling dry. My hair had no shine and looked lifeless. The definition was not there at all. This product actually made my hair look matted in the back. I would not recommend this product to anyone.. I'm super surprised at the rest of the reviews.. SMH
I have to say that I really liked this product!! Although I used this product in conjunction with a butter and an oil, the definition of my twist out were absolutely amazing; I had definition and bounce for days! :D I had a feeling that this product would probably not tame my fly aways or frizzes that like to make an appearance at the top of my head (not that this product claims to do so), so I just used a little bit of Eco Styler Gel on the top portion of my hair to smooth everything down and I really liked the results. I did not experience any crunch or flakes and, as I stated earlier, the definition of my twist out was great! I did enjoy the smell of this product and its overall performance (keep in mind as I said before, I used this product in conjunction with a butter and an oil, I never used this product solely by itself).
This product worked very well on my hair it kept it very moist and my twists were very well defined there was no build up or flaking..and for,the price you have to give it a try
I definitely recommend this product! First of all, I love the way the coconut oil smells and the creamy texture. I also love the lightweight feeling and the wet and wavy feeling it gives your hair. Since using, my hair has been manageable and feels great. It kept my hair moisturized without it feeling oily.
This is a great product. It smells amazing ! You will definitely get compliments on how good you smell when you walk by people. It also provides a great deal of shine and bounce to hair ! It is pretty much like a gel so you can get some great definition when doing wash and gos. A little goes a long way so no need to over-apply the products. It worked best for me when my hair was damp or freshly washed. :)
I really loved that this product made my hair feel soft. It smells good, it's not too heavy but I wouldn't use a lot. It feels like a gel consistency and I would be extremely careful about how much you use. But, the product made my hair look so healthy and happy. It shined like I'd just put a glossy coat on it or something. I'll use it again, but just in moderation. A little goes a long way!
This is a great product. First of all it smells good, can't spot the coconut but it definitely smells good. The consistency is really light so i was afraid that it wouldn't keep my hair moisturize but it did! My hair was really soft and define. I used it for bantu knots out , and my curls were popping :p !! Also i tried it on clean hair and to make a flat twist out and again my hair was really soft define, and light. Little downside, it can leaves some white residue so you really have to make the product penetrate before you twist. But the little flakes i had came out! Overall i liked it and recommend it!
This product...I LOVE! Ok. So first off.. it smells AMAZING! It smells like fruit and coconut and summertime. So when I first got it, I thought it would be like a creamier styling gel.The consistency of the product is thick, but moves. Kind of like a pudding consistency. The first time I used it, I used on wet hair. I did a Bantu knot out. When just applying the product to my hair, it was instantly soft!! I was concerned that the white would become flaky, but my hair was nothing like that. When taking down the knots the next day, my curls were very defined, as if I used a gel, but really soft and shiny! I was pleasantly surprised. This product is great for styles that need to last a few days. I didn't need to keep reapplying the product. I will definitely continue to use this product!
So I had trouble with this product at first. I guess I was using it wrong for my hair type. I first used it alone on freshly washed hair and I hated it. My hair was crunchy and dry. I didn't give up though I used it the following week but this time I used it with a light leave in/ moisturizer. The results were really great and I am really pleased with this product. So I would recommend this product but if u have dry hair just add a boost of moisture and the definition will be on point. I was most surprised at my ends at how soft and moisturized they were.
First of all, the product smells wonderful! Tangy and fruity, it definitely perks you up! I really love this styling product because it doesn't flake or harden and it defines my twist outs beautifully. I've been using this daily for over 2 weeks now on freshly washed or on dry natural hair and I love the results. I have problems with extremely dry hair because my hair is so thick, but this cocktail works wonders as a moisturizer as well. It even works well when I pull my hair back in a slick bun. Can't say enough about it I will continue to use this product!
I used this product on my hair and also my family's hair. This product worked great! It is a great moisturizer! My husband even liked it. He kept saying how great his hair looked. Our family has a mix of textures and this product made everyone's hair feel soft and moisturized. The curl definition in our hair is awesome! I highly recommend this product!
I honestly am quite leery of using products that are designed to define curls because I don't have a defined curl pattern. I did the next best thing. I used it for two strand twists. I was highly surprised and impressed with the results. I have never achieved such a defined twist out before! It honestly looked like I went to a salon. I got so many compliments! My go to product is ECO's Argan gel but this product provides a better and sleeker hold. My twist outs even last longer! My hair was bouncy and free from flakiness or crunchiness. My only gripe is that it did not impart much shine for me but that was easily remedied with coconut oil.
I can not believe how great this product worked on my hair. I first tried it to add some definition to my puff and it was okay. I expected crunchy and flaky hair but did not get that at all. My favorite style is the twist out so on my wash day I chose to use the eco cocktail rather than my normal curling creme and paired it with shea moisture's raw shea butter conditioner as my leave-in. When I tell you my hair came out soft, shiny, moisturized and bouncy!!! :o) I honestly couldn't believe it had done it so well. I re-twisted with just a bit more on each twist the following night and it came out even better! I will for sure be adding this product into my regimen and recommend you give it a try. I was very skeptical of it at first honestly because it seems so watery and it was by Eco (and eco styler gel, although amazing for my edges, is horrible as a styler for me) I was wrong and I'll admit it, this product is amazing!! I got compliment after compliment with this is my hair! I love it!
My waves LOVE this product! I have used it on both wet and dry hair and had super results. It provides amazing definition to my waves while keeping my hair soft and non-crunchy. I found it very moisturizing and it left no residue or flakiness at all. I have tried it combined with other products as well as just on its own and always found the results to be super every time. I love the fresh, fruity scent, though in my opinion, it smells nothing like the coconut scent the jar says it has.
I have been using the Eco Cocktail in my hair for about a solid week and I was highly impressed with the product. At first glance I didn’t think it would give me promising results because it’s such a water-based product but it definitely proved me wrong. I used this product on freshly washed hair for a twist out. The next day my hair was EXTREMELY highly moisturized with definition. I can also say that this product works very well with others and I had ZERO flaking or residue left on my hair. My hair was so shiny and well moisturized that I instantly fell in love with it. The definition for my twist out was a soft flexible hold as the product states on it’s packaging. In the future I think I will use this product under the Eco Custard Argan Oil because that has more hold whereas the cocktail gives off more shine and moisture. I’m almost positive those products together will make a great result. Overall this product is worth the purchase if you’re looking for a soft hold, moisture and shine.
I have been using EcoNatural Curling Cocktail for two weeks now and I love it! My curls look amazing. I use a quarter-sized amount after co-washing, as per the instructions. Then I apply a very light gel over it and air dry. My curl formation is perfect and I love how my curls fall in place. I've also used this product alone, without gel and it holds quite nicely. I like using my regular go-to light gel over this product because it adds extra shine. Another thing I've noticed is that I get 2nd and 3rd day hair. I just spritz my hair with some water and apply another quarter-sized drop. Once my hair is dry, I scrunch it out and my beautiful curls return. I haven't noticed any buildup or flaking. It's very light and the scent is mild and pleasant. Thus can be used on damp or dry hair. And best of all, NO SILICONES. I can't wait to try EcoNatural Curling Cocktail in the summer, when I have to battle the humidity. Hopefully the results will be the same.
