My curl pattern is 3b/3c. I was disappointed in the results from using this product. I expect some definition, some hold and some moisture from a styling product. However, I didn't get that with using this product. I went through half a jar in 2 weeks trying to give it time, but it still didn't work for me. Not very moisturizing at all. Besides the use, this product smells very lovely.
I am in love! I was hesitant about trying this product because of its consistency as I have never used a "pudding" before. The first go-round, I used a bit too much and it weighed my hair down quite a bit. It can make you hair appear oily if you use too much. BUT, the second time I achieved perfection! (use sparingly on bangs if you have them). Finally a product that actually delivers FRIZZ FREE, super shiny and soft curls. My 3b ringlets are in heaven!
I tried this for a wash and go, and it was a no go, not enough hold. But it worked well for a braid out. This only has one water-soluble silicone so it's FINE for the curly girl method. I do feel this makes my hair a little on the oily side, but it was very soft.
Nice and creamy! I used this product in conjunction with the Sacred Tiare Smoothing Serum and I can say that my hair is and has been for the past few days incredibly soft! I am pleasantly surprised!! Again, the scent, although not troublesome, was not my personal favorite (I typically like "foodie"/warm scents) and as I applied both this and the serum to my hair, I have to be honest, I did not know what to expect. I can say that alone, I don't think this particular product on its own had much slip for my hair but combined with the serum, it gave my already detangled hair a little room to work with. My twist out is definitely super defined and my hair is soft. I did add some Eco Styler to the areas that I experience the most frizz/flyways (on top) but I overall like this product combination.
Filled with cones and way too heavy/greasy for my fine, 3A-B curls. Strong scent. My curls were defined, but fluffy and very greasy. I barely used a pea size dab too and avoided the roots. I used this alone and also following a leave in and it wasn't great either way.
If you're a Curly Girl Method follower, just skip this product all together because it has a few silicones in it. If not, this may be helpful. I've used this three times and found that after the second time, it is definitely NOT a stand alone product. Pros: It smells lovely, very light and very clean. Cons: It's really light. Now, that may be a great thing for some curlies, but for my 3b/c hair, it wasn't. I had to slather on the product to get the moisture I was looking for and then had to finish the ends with another 2 products (another styling pudding and oil). It doesn't give me the definition I would expect from a styling pudding. I found it to be just OK. It needs help from a booster, for sure, like JBCO or something. I don't like to toss product, but I won't be running to the store too restock when I run out.
I used this product for a wash n go and my curls were defined and soft and very moisturized, I then followed up with Eco Styler Gel which usually makes my hair feel crunchy, but this my hair survived after layers of gel.
i got a sample of this product at sephora and was so excited to try it because ive never tried a carols daughter product but it made my hair feel really weird and dry, its not for my hair. it might work for someone else but i will not purchase this item. i have 3b hair
This stuff smells amazing. It has a nice floral scent, not subtle at all. It also gives my hair soft definition, which I love! I holds the curls without any hard feeling and that slight tacky feeling you experience when applying the product is gone once your hair dries. It is a little prices and does not double as a moisturizer. I found it important to moisturize my hair with a liquid leave in and seal with a light oil before applying this product.
Why does this guide say silicone free?? CD's Hair Milk definitely has silicone. This is why it dries out my hair like crazy. I was so disappointed. When I was still rocking the relaxer, I LOVED CD's products. When Lisa was running the company without the corporate interference, the products were all natural and wonderful. Now they all have silicones and dry my natural curls out. I do still love their body products.
I want to love Carol's Daughter products, really I do! But there are few that work with my hair, and the hair milk pudding must be added to the list of bombs. I loved the consistency, the smell, how it initially made my hair feel. Then it dried, and I got a shoulder full of flakes! So...not a fan.
Fell in love since the first time I used it ! Using this and Eco styling gel on my twist outs made my curls look more defined and I got many compliments from my classmates and family. This product did wonders to my curl definition and it was easy use. Smells wonderful also.
I loved this stuff! I bought it as part of the Hair Milk Kit, but it was the only thing I was impressed with. It doesn't seem to provide moisture itself, but I used it as a finisher over my leave-in and styling cream, and sometimes over my gel too. I scrunched it in at the end and it just holds and defines my curls fabulously! I have medium hair across the board, with anywhere from a 2C to a 3C curl pattern depending on the day (and the side of my head ha!). Would highly recommend this as a finisher.
Used this for a braidout with the CD Hair Milk Leave In and Cowash. Amazing! My hair as super soft and shiny!! Love this stuff.
love it! feel like conditioner in my hair -- not like other rough crunchy gel stylers. has slip, even! it's tempting to slather it on there, but don't. you could get white flakes! Just trust that a small amount on each section will still give you defined, soft hair :) i'm not a fan of "stylers" in general i just use leave in conditioner + oil, but this is really good! will keep using it
The Pudding was easy to apply and wasn't sticky. It has a nice consistency and it didn't flake when it dried, but its definitely not my favorite styling product. It seemed okay in terms of giving me a defined twist out, but I used the Hair Milk line to cleanse, condition and style and ended up with dry even more wiry-feeling hair. From something called Hair Milk Pudding, I was hoping for the softer (moisturized), defined finish I get with other similar products.
Love love love!! Hair is soft , shiny, and bouncy! Feels great , not too oily, curls last for days! Did I mention shiny?!?!
Oh. my. goodness. Haven't ever found a curl product for my hair like this one. A little goes a LONG way. I put it through my damp hair after co-washing and conditioning, and let it dry naturally. Curl bounce and shine last ALL day. Can even last 2-3 days with a little help from a spray-in moisturizer help on the roots. The body of the curls stay in tact. LOVE this stuff. Great at getting slip, too.
