There are so many products flooding the market for natural hair care that it's no longer enough to have a great product, but you really need to have one that is easy to use. I found the cleansing conditioner to be a good product. My hair felt moisturized and clean. My issue? The pump! The pump isn't the easiest to use in the shower nor does it pump out enough product to actually use. I found myself having to bend over and pump like crazy just to get enough product to do my hair. For me this made it a deal breaker. I liked the product, but not enough to make up for the poor quality of the pump. I think Carols Daughter should consider a redesign. The hole in the pump should be much larger.
This is my first time trying some of the Carols Daughter line. I am loving all of the products I have been using lately and will definitely be a repeat customer. This cleansing conditioner has a nice light scent, amazing slip and detangled my shoulder length 3b curls instantly. I also have a daughter with 3b curls and her hair is much longer. I was surprised to read someone else's review that it did not detangle their hair. I pretty much battle my daughter every morning to let me wet and gently pick her hair to get the tangles out....this cleanser removes them immediately! No more cranky mornings= one happy mom!
I'm a big fan of cleansing conditionner in the summer so this was a great product to try! I liked that it cleansed my hair with no problem and after rinsing it my hair was super soft. However this was not the best product to help detangle during the washing process, unless you add a tone of product. Overall i think it does a great the job at cleansing without leaving dry hair. I'm not a fan of the pump because you have to pump quite a lot to have enough product in your hand. And the scent of this line is really not my cup of tea.
This co-wash only contains gentle, gentle cleansers (like those found in most conditioners) yet it also has silicones. It claims to cleanse the hair while actually depositing leave in. It does leave the hair really soft and doesn't strip at all. I wouldn't recommend this for cleansing.
This is my first time trying a Carol's Daughter product, and I am quite pleased with the results. This is a great cleansing conditioner. I love the light floral scent. It is very lightweight and my hair was so soft after cleansing. It did a super job removing product, has great slip and made my hair so silky. I would definitely buy this product again.
To be completely honest, I have not been the biggest Carol's Daughter fan when it comes to hair care but I can say that I am pleasantly surprised with this hair care line. I did like this cleansing conditioner and even though I am not a fan of floral scents, the faint scent of roses (at least that's what I smell) did not bother me in the least. I did three "cleanses" with this product and my hair and scalp felt clean but definitely not stripped. I do like this product and only time will tell if this product goes from a "like" to a "LOVE"!
Type 3b/c, low porosity, coarse: This cleansing conditioner really disappoints me. When it's in my hair it has wonderful slip, it makes my hair feel silky, and it doesn't matte my hair. But it doesn't seem to clean my hair very well. In addition to the feeling that this won't rinse out completely, it makes my ends feel like straw. Every Carol's Daughter product I've used has dried the heck out of my hair, and I wish I could figure out what ingredient(s) is the culprit.
I really, really love this product! Lightweight, great smell, and fantastic slip. I really felt like my hair was well coated. I would definitely recommend this product to all curlies, everywhere! I had particularly dirty hair when I used this, so it didn't quite get rid of everything on my scalp, but I think that has more to do with how long I went without a wash than the actual product. I'll be buying this product on repeat!!
Love the smell and it leftmy hair nice and very soft and manageable unlike a lot of other products I have tried in the past
After testing out a handful of co-wash brands, this product is my top fave. Upon immediate application on damp hair, I experience so much slip! I was definitely impressed because I have a huge problem with tangles. I was able to detangle my defiant old twistout with ease without snarls or snaps. The scent is also pleasant and not overbearing. After rinsing, my hair felt clean and moisturized. It didn't feel stripped whatsoever. I had to be somewhat heavy handed to achieve my desired results though.
For the past couple of months, I have been using regular shampoo, It has really been a long time since I have done a co wash. With that being said I dont know or I dont remember if my hair is supposed to feel the way that it did. My review of this product is I did not like it. First the smell is just too much and I am not stickler for scents, it was just too much perfume. Im not complaining about the slip that was fine. The problem i had was that my hair felt weighed down and coated. I even did 3 applications becuase I thought that my hair was just extremely dirty , I guess I was looking for that clean light hair feeling. The kind you get when you just did a really good shampoo wash and your curls are light and springy. This product my curls were just heavy and stretched as if I still had product in my hair.
Great smell. It cleaned well and left my hair soft (I used it with a hair mask after.) No build up which is a huge plus. Didn't add to my waves after, but I'd use it again.
This is the first co-wash product I have ever used, though I am not new to the idea of co-washing. I used it for about 2 weeks to get a good feel for it. When using this product in the shower, I needed to dispense several pumps into my hand to get enough to use on my hair and scalp. The bottle only pumps out a little at a time and I needed quite a bit to get enough to both cleanse my scalp and hair. After massaging it in and leaving it on the length of my hair for several minutes, I rinsed and was pleasant surprised that my hair felt pretty soft. My hair rarely tangles so I can't comment on the ease of untangling. Unfortunately, my hair started to feel coated and dry as soon as it started drying. It is also filled with cones and has a pretty strong, slightly unpleasant scent. It took a scrubbing with a strong sulfate conditioner for my hair to feel normal again.
I like the smell of this cleansing conditioner because it has a very pleasant scent. I like that it has a pump to it so it's easy for me to apply the product to my hair. My hair was left feeling clean. My hair had good slip. First I had to detangle with my fingers, and then with a wide tooth comb. My hair felt soft especially when I was rinsing out the cleansing conditioner. I did not like how my hair felt rough before I had applied my leave in conditioner to my hair. Maybe I should have deep conditioned to provide more moisture to my hair so that it wouldn't had felt rough.
I really liked this product, and I typically am not a fan of co-wash products. I use it on it's own when washing my hair, and it does the job. I would have to rotate it after several rounds of washing my hair with a sulfate free shampoo to get rid of build up, but otherwise it worked great. Pros: lots of slip, excellent detangler, minimal to no frizz after use, did not weigh down my hair (good waves and clumping), the pump is super convenient. Cons: I didn't love the smell but it wouldn't deter me from buying it. I would buy this product again.
This is the first co-wash product I have used. The idea of not using shampoo was hard for me to wrap my head around. The pump dispenser is really convenient for the shower! Initially the product detangles my hair well. I didn't have any frizziness after my hair dried. My hair tends to be fairly moisturized on it's own and if I used another product on top of this (leave-in conditioner, other hair milk products, etc.) it weighed my hair down too much and made it appear greasy, so I didn't have to put any extra product in my hair, which was nice. I also tried this product as a conditioner and used a separate shampoo before hand and was happy with my hair afterwards (no frizz, nice waves, etc.). I like this product and will continue to use it, but with a cleansing shampoo and conditioner in between uses so my hair doesn't get too weighed down and/or greasy. This is a good product. If I could I would give it a 3.5.
I tried this product out as a conditioner since my hair is to oily for it to be used as a co wash. It was pretty good at detangling and provided a little moisture. However my hair not smooth and was still a little knotty.
I used this on my type 3b/c curls twice to really get a good feel for the product and I wasn't a huge fan of it. Pros: It comes in a convenient pump that does get a good bit of product out with each pump, which I found helpful; It smells pleasant; It's super light Cons: It took a lot of product to get the slip I needed to detangle my hair, which doesn't make for the best value for the dollar; My hair was super dry and crunchy feeling; The ingredient list made me cringe a little bit. The second ingredient is alcohol (which explains the dry feeling) and there are several silicones listed. Overall - I wouldn't use this product as a stand alone cleansing conditioner without following up with a deep hydration treatment shortly afterwards.
I'm so glad I listened to the lady in Target that had been natural for some years. This is my HG co wash. I looooove it. Leaves my hair feeling soft and it detangles my hair. The smell is also very nice. I'd swear by this product.
I used this after a henna treatment and it was nice it relieved the dryness but I don't like the smell and 3 days later I feel like I need to shampoo because there is a waxy film on my hair something I never get with usual cleansing conditioner. Another issue is I can't seen to find the cleansing ingredient which makes me think its not really cleansing my hair and it's marketed as no silicones but if you look at the ingredients it has at least 5 and 1 of them is dimethicone
I have found my Holy Grail conditioner! Sometimes I use it as a co-wash and sometimes i use it to condition after using shampoo. It has a ridiculous amount of slip. I was able to detangle with no problem, even when my hair was in all types of knots and matting and it just glided through my hair. A little actually goes a really long way. It is very moisturizing. Almost instant and even when i rinse it all out of my hair my hair still feels so soft. It has definitely made wash day a whole lot easier. Especially since I'm dealing with transitioning hair which leaves me more prone to breakage. What I love the most is the pump bottle. Comes in really handy when im in the shower so i dont have to wrestle with the bottle. Will definitely repurchase.
I purchased the mini-kit for $14.99 at ULTA. It was on clearance.. *This review is just for the Cowash* The co-wash dried my ends out something FIERCE! I recently had my ends trimmed and have no problems with detangling or styling since my ends are fresh and even. However, within moments after washing my ends looked flash-dried, frizzy, and tangled. While the cowash was in my hair it seemed to feel soft and tangle free. As soon as I got from under the water it felt like straw. I proceeded straight the the hair milk as suggested. Wrong...all wrong. Couldnt comb out my hair. WTF?! HAHA! The next time I tried the cowash I followed with Pantene 2 minute moisture which knocks out tangles in seconds but it didnt work. The following time I used it I followed with KCKT and it didnt work. The final time I followed with Shea Moisture Retention Conditioner and it was somewhat better but not really. Greasy, dried out, and matted at the same time - that was the end result of the last time. Long review short: I have tried it 4 times. Each time I have gotten the same flash-dried, frizzy, greasy, unruly results. I like the scent of the co-wash but thats about it. Skip this cowash.
I love Carol's daughter products, this co-wash makes my hair feel so soft and curls bounce back. It adds shine to hair immediately, this co-wash makes my hair like I don't need a leave in. I love it.
I really like this product. I have 4C hair and find myself looking for nice conditioners to use for "wash and go" styles. This conditioner left my hair soft and with a light scent for my day.
i used this with high hopes but it made my hair dry, frizzy, and feel disgusting! i had to wash it again the very next day... plus the smell was awful!
Loved how this made my hair feel - the slip was amazing so I was able to detangle my hair with it; it smells great too. My problems with the product are the price and the bottle - she really needs to rethink these bottles because it's hard enough to squeeze the product out when my hands are dry but when wet..forget it. I won't add this as a staple product because of the cost - I only got 4 washes out of the bottle.
Used this for a braidout with the CD Hair Milk Leave In and Pudding. Amazing! My hair as super soft and shiny!! Love this stuff.
The lemongrass smell is okay. Not my favorite. It cleansed my hair very well. However, I'm not a fan of the way you dispense the product. It's too thick for that small hole. It's kind of a struggle to get out. Also, I have thick hair and I wash twice every time. I have to use too much of it to get the slip and cleaning I want. I can't keep buying a product that mostly gone after one use. It would probably be better for finer or thinner hair so you don't have to use as much. I can't pay $18 for 8.5oz when for 2 dollars less I can get 16oz of As I Am Coconut Co-Wash which works wonderfully!
I'm new to cleansing conditioners, but this is an awesome product!! I liked that it was actually a conditioner, and not just a really moisturizing "shampoo". Very slippery and softening. It's *ACTUALLY* low lathering. My coils are always so springy and shiny afterward. Hair felt clean but soft and I wouldn't need to condition afterward!!!!
I like using this to detangle with a wide tooth comb, and it smells great. It's not the best cleansing conditioner I've ever used, but I really enjoyed using it and I'll be using this every now and then when I feel like changing things up.
My hair felt very moisturized after using this, but I'm not a fan of the fact that it has amodimethicone in it. It's a co-wash. With a silcone in it? That doesn't make sense to me because I will never be able to wash it out if I'm the co-washing type, which I tend to be. Once I finished off with the leave-in and pudding from hair milk, my hair wasn't as soft or moisturized as it can be so I wouldn't want to lock out moisture at the point of cleansing by using a co-wash with a silicone.
