This stuff is awful. I used a TINY bit and my hair looked dull and greasy. Bummed I paid $20 for this crap
As we all no Frizz can be an unwanted issue. I'm always looking for a product to help calm down the frizz that accompanies my 2A waves. This product seems to do the trick. The first thing I noticed when using this product is that it smells amazing, but doesn't leave you with a strong scent that follows you around all day. I do have to say it has a thick constancy, which was a concern before I used it. I thought it was going to weigh my hair down or cause it to look greasy. Neither of these things happened, instead it calmed the frizz and I ended up having an amazing hair day. I would very much recommend this product, but for Type 2s be careful not to use to much.
My hair was super frizzy after a humid and rainy day so I used about a nickel size of product and gently smoothed it through my hair. The frizz was noticeably tamed right away and the smell was great. My hair did appear and feel a bit greasy though, so I may have used too much product. I think this would work well for days when I wear my hair up and want to tame some flyaways and frizz. I also think it would work well if I use a dime size amount next time and focus on the frizz around my head instead of smoothing it onto all of my hair. Definitely worth a shot if you have 3A hair like I do and need something to tame frizz and flyaways. Plus, I really enjoyed the smell!
Needed a quick fix due to humidity and this one did the trick. Placed a small dab on my palm, was super suprised how light weight it felt and then ran it through my whole head of hair. it definitely made a quick difference to smooth things down a bit. I also tried it to smooth down my bangs for my ponytail and it was amazing to smooth back my curls to make a very neat pull back. Using it for a couple of tricks, it did better than expected.
I have been searching for a way to combat my frizz without using hairspray and I thought this product was great. It looks like it might be greasy, but once you put it on it isn't! I wear my hair in buns a lot and have been using it to help with all the flyways.
I love this balm. I thought it would be too heavy for my waves, but once you rub it in your hands it melts away and into your hair. It leaves my hair really shiny and gets rid of frizzies. Keeping this around forever...
I tried this product and wow. My 4a hair took well to it especially controlling the front part of my hair after a work out with flat ironed hair. Its a bit thick but the shine was nice. The few flyaway I had were controlled plus I loved the smell. It's a bit pricey for me as other have said down but will hopefully catch it on sale to use again.
I tried this product on my second hand curls. I have to say, a little does go a long way. First time I put it in my hair, I guess I used too much product because the product just clumped in my hair, it was hard to smooth it out. I then tried the product on the halo of my head and it did control the flyaways somewhat, but any gel or curling souffle would do the same job. This product was too thick for my texture and I would not recommend for 3A/3B hair.
This has become a new staple for my purse. I use this throughout the day to get rid of the halo of frizz, get rid of crunch and define my curls. Love the texture and the smell. Don't EVER discontinue this product!
I have fine natural 3c/4a hair. I used the AG Balm on my "halo" (the curly flyaways around the perimeter of my head). It worked well. It smoothed it nicely. It smells nice, kinda sweet, but it is a faint smell. It also made my hair very shiny. I would only use this on my curly hair. And I think it would also make a nice sealant for my ends. But this would be to heavy for my natural flat ironed hair. The price leaves ALOT to be desired. It is too expensive for just 2 oz., especially if you have thicker hair.
I used this product after blowing my curly hair straight and it smoothed down my flyaways for the day. I also used it for a slick pony tail, great hold and shine. Overall I liked the product but is a bit pricey.
Worked wonders on my hair. Smoothed out the flyaways and left a tremendous shine. It lasted a full day and more.
I first tried the product on my hair after I straightened it, which I rarely do because of the Atlanta heat and humidity, my initial thought was that the product was going to be to heavy and cause my hair to look oily, however my hair absorbed it and it was fine. I wore my hair straight for two days without looking frizzy, even with rain in the forecast. Next I used it as directed on dry curls to prevent frizz, I think that it flattened out my curls a little. I will try it on wet hair and see what happened then. Over all the product is ok, it is more than I would normally spend on any hair product as I tend to go through a lot of products.
I used this product in two ways. First I used it for edge control. It did a good job of keeping my edges under control for the most part. My fine baby hair was still curled up but I didn't mind so much. Not the best but surely not the worse product on the market. I also used the product as intended (on dry hair for frizz control). I used it on some of my twist out sections and I think it did something to calm the frizz. I can't really call it, it didn't make it worse but it wasn't noticably different. I will continue to use the product since I didn't get a build-up or residue which is a huge plus for products like this!
I have 3a/3b low porosity hair that responds to changes in the weather. I used this balm on dry hair in very dry conditions (4% humidity and very hot days) and it was too heavy for my curls: it did not feel gunky or oily, in fact it really does feel very light and barely-there immediately after application, but then my curls just seemed to become loose waves. I used it in more "normal" climate conditions (more humidity in the air and not so hot outside), and it worked a lot better: it smoothed my hair & does elongate the curls some, but doesn't seem to add too much weight. The smell disappears upon application, and is not unpleasant. The price is too high, though!
Instructions say to use on dry hair so I did and didn't like it. It seemed to mess with my curl definition, like it was too heavy/greasy. However, when used on wet hair I liked the results. The scent is clean & fresh. It doesn't leave residue or flaking. Overall, it is a good product but overpriced.
First, I used this product as for a soft hold on a twistout and I really like it for that. My hair wasn't weighted down and it moved when the wind blow. Second, I used this on my mom's old flat ironed hair making sure to use a scarf for assured sleekness but a little while later her 4b hairs started to stick up. Now, the perimeter of my head is 3c & 4a front and 4a & 4b sides and back. The product did slick my kinky/curly hair better than my mother's flatironed kinky/curly hair so it may be that the water in the product actually helped revert my mother's hair which caused her to have flyaways. With that being said, this product works better on loose curly/wavy/straight hair. But 2oz for 22$, I can't afford to use this often for twistouts but it works.
This balm failed in smoothing my texture. The texture of this product is rather thick, but nothing providing hold that hair needs to smooth hair. I feel it didn't hold my hair as a smoothing balm because it wasn't strong enough for curly texture. I believe this product would work best if your hair is wet, but not dry. I wouldn't recommend this product at all.
When u open it it's first to notice if there is a scent or not but u can smell a light sent . Inside it a white kind of thick concisty. I used it to smooth the front and back of my hair . But it laid my hair flat but didn't hold long enuff for my 4c hair.
I have thick 4a hair and this did not help in laying my edges down. It was greasy. Maybe it would be good as a setting product for twist outs and braid outs, but for the price and amount you get I would pass on it.
I'm totally new to this lifestyle and was skeptical about the product. But it's not heavy, it smells nice and it does the job. I have 4C hair, well between 4B and 4C - and the product holds but doesn't flake. I really like it!
The directions on the product say to use it on dry hair - I am loathe to touch my 3a/b curls once they have dried and was hesitant to try it this way, so I applied it to the crown of my hair while still wet (this is where I get the most frizz) and then applied my other styling products. Once my hair was dry I did have a little less 'halo frizz', but it wasn't a significant change. Later I separated a frizzy curl from the pack and applied the balm just to that lock of hair. The product made my hair look greasy, not shiny (sometimes there is a very fine line between the two!) and there was still a bit of frizz visible. I think that this product would probably be great applied to dry hair that's just been blown straight to reduce flyways, but I wouldn't use it on my curly hair. But it smells great!
This product is extremely expensive for the amount you get, but a little goes a long way. It smooths down frizz and smells good, but it's on the greasy side. I've definitely used better frizz control products. It is silicone free, but I was concerned that one of the ingredients in the product is sodium hydroxide (lye). It's low on the ingredients list, so it probably won't relax anyone's hair, but it seems unnecessary that they would include it in the product, as it raises the pH and hair has a low pH. Exposure to a high pH can damage hair over time. Whoever wrote the ingredients list did not provide the full list, by the way. After dipropylene glycol, there is sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol (and) caprylyl glycol, parfum/fragrance. Hope this helps.
Smell amazing. I used it in my 3b hair ( 2nd day wash ang go) and I don't had frizz or crazy edges, have shine and a light hold. Would purchase again. The bad.....small container
This product was great on dry hair. I used it on a blowout as a twistout cream, just to get a little definition. I was pleasantly surprised the next morning to wake up with a touchable, defined-but-soft twistout. It was beautiful. It lasted a day, but my hair was moisturized, and smelt very good. A couple days later I finally decided to wash my hair and do a twistout on wet hair. I was not very pleased by this product then. My hair shrunk up more than normal, did not stay moisturized, and really didn't hold very nicely at all. I was very disappointed by it on wet hair. The next day I tried to use it as the directions say, and fix up flyaway pieces, and it worked, but it wasn't very desirable. It did what shea butter could do by itself. Overall, I think this is an okay product. It wasn't the best, but I know it was not the worst by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe used with another product it would work better. But I will not be using until my hair is stretched out again.
I used this after washing and conditioning on 4b hair, it gave a slight hold and was able to control the flyaway on natural hair.
I enjoyed this product because it is cruelty free and natural. All the products that I put on my body has to be natural and cruelty free. The smell is ah-mazing. I wish the container is bigger than 2 oz so it can last longer. My hair is thick and I have major frizz. I applied this product to my hair when it was wet and detangled. The results gave my braids shine and no frizz. I've been looking for a product that is a pomade now I found it. I wish the price was lower. I have 3B/3C curls.
IT'S ANIMAL CRUELTY FREE, YAY:) To my surprise I actually liked this product. The consistency is a thick vaseline texture but once you rub in it in your hands it thins out and gives nice bouncy curls. APPLYING IT TO "DRY" HAIR: The directions says to apply on dry hair. Okay, I have 3c/4a curls, shoulder length and thick. With only 2oz to work with, there is no way I can apply it on dry hair and have some left over. Before making judgement I decided to follow the directions. I applied this on day 2 hair without applying any water or anything, I picked out a frizzy curl, rubbed a small amount of product in my hands and smoothed it in my curl. It did take away the frizz and gave it a nice shiny look but it also weighed down the curl. APPLYING IT TO "WET" HAIR: I washed my hair and applied a leave in conditioner like always. I sectioned my hair starting from the bottom, combed the section and applied a small amount of product (smaller then a dime size) then finger combed it through. I did this to my entire head and let it hair dry. DRYING PROCESS: While drying, my hair looked weighed down but it wasn't and my curls were very defined. Once it fully dried, my curls shrunk back up, were defined, soft, bouncy and shiny with minimal greasiness. THE NEXT DAY: I have not found a sleeping method yet, so I sleep with my hair loose. To my surprise, my curls were still defined with very little frizz at the top. OVERALL THOUGHT: I like this product but I prefer to put it on wet hair as a styling curl product instead of dry hair. When I did use this on day 2 hair, I find that it works better if I spray water on the curl first, otherwise the product will be too heavy and weight it down. If you like to elongate your curls then I recommend this product using it on dry hair. However, becareful because too much will feel too heavy and it will feel greasy. A little does go a long way.
