I LOVE Knot Today, but this wasn't so great for me. 1) it has no slip at all. Thankfully i don't rely on deep conditioners to detangle (i detangle before i even shampoo my hair). I detangled my hair, shampooed, and when i applied this, it's like my hair got a little tangled all over again. But when I rinsed it out, my hair was soft. This product was just aight.
I had just taken out a sew-in weave, so I wanted to treat my hair to some extra deep conditioning. After washing my hair, I wrung out most of the water (opting to avoid towel drying) and then proceeded to apply the product. I was tired, so I opted to put on a plastic cap and go to sleep with the product in overnight (about 7 hours). When I woke up the next morning, I washed it out and noticed that my curls were definitely moisturized and more springy, but they didn't feel overly hydrated like I'm used to with the Kinky Curly Knot Today. I'm not sure if this is a small difference between a deep conditioner (wash out) and the Knot Today (leave-in), but I do prefer to have my hair feel more hydrated. I thought the product was "okay" but for the price point ($13) and size (8oz), I didn't find it to be a good value. On top of that, Kinky Curly Knot Today is my hands down FAVORITE leave-in conditioner of all time... so, I was expecting more from Kinky Curly. Pros: Decently moisturized my curls Made my curls more spring-like Hair was soft Cons: Not a fan of the consistency - - it's thick, but not creamy (personal preference) Didn't notice increased shine or silkiness
I really loved this DT. My hair turned out very soft, defined, and just the right curl. The only complaint I have is that the DT doesn't smell too great (or too bad), and it takes awhile to set in. I would definitely use this product over and over! Definitely worth the price.
This product was just ok for me because it didn't moisturize as well as I expected and the shine wasn't there either. I liked the thick consistency and it made my twist outs super defined though.
this product did not work as well as I was hoping it would. My hair did not feel well oisturized even after leaving it on extra time .I also didn't like the scent very much. What a shame I was hoping it would be amazing
This product was somewhere in the middle of OK and Good. Not great, not horrible. Thick consistency, which I normally like... the detangling properties were alright.
This product was just okay. It was too thick for me. It didn't offer much in the way of detangling. I think maybe your hair should be fully conditioned and detangled before using this deep conditioner. It has the really thick consistency. After rinsing it out, I didn't think my hair was that well moisturize. It reminds me of the Shea Moisture Deep conditioner. I am giving it a 3 instead of anything less because the ingredients are great. It has biotin which is great for growth and strength. I really had higher hope for this one. I will give it a few more uses before I say no to re-purchase because Kinky Curly made Knot Today.... and well that product is just heaven.
I have used this product 3 times. I have 3a - 3b curls that need ALOT of moisture. I really enjoy this product because it is thick and creamy. It detangled my curls super easy and left them feeling soft. I gave it a 4 because I didn't love the smell, but I also didn't mind it either.
This deep conditioner was ok for me. The slip was ok and I was able to detangle with it but I had to be under running water in the shower to detangle with better ease. I didn't feel like my hair was well moisturized after rinsing out. I just felt ok. The smell was horrendous, it smells very medicinal, kind of like hospital hand wash. Overall, I was impressed with this product at all.
This product was just OK for my hair. I tried it both under a plastic cap for 30 minutes and also under a dryer cap. I didn't see a difference with either method. I had to use way more than a generous amount to get some slip and something close to the conditioned feel I would expect from a deep conditioner. Though I did like the fresh, lemony scent, that alone would not make it a product I would continue to use.
After the first use, I wasn't impressed. I didn't have the slip I needed to detangle my hair. For the next couple of treatments, I decided to apply a more generous amount throughout my hair. I used a plastic cap and left it on for an hour. I was very impressed with the slip I was now receiving. I finger detangled quite easily before rinsing out. After rinsing, my hair had increased softness and manageability. I followed up with Kinky Curly Knot Today. I was very pleased with my results. The smell is a little weird...like an orange drowned in oil. It didn't bother me too much. The scent was gone after rinsing.
Having used this line before (one of their products is my holy grail leave-in), I had very high expectations for this treatment. I was disappointed. I always forget about bringing scissors into the shower with me when I need to open certain KC containers. After 10 minutes of struggling to open the product, I was hit by a very unpleasant scent. It smells oily/fatty, if that makes any sense. I applied the treatment, as per the directions, and left it on for 30 minutes. No good slip. Detangling was cumbersome. I honestly did not notice a difference in my curls. They looked the same as they always do. I would not buy this product.
I think this was an"okay" conditioner. I was disappointed by the smell, considering that this is Kinky Curly, i was expecting an awesome smell. The texture is very thick, which i liked and it was easy to apply. I applied the product on wet hair and let it sit for 30 mins each time. It wasn't that easy to detangle my hair which i didn't like. When i rinse the conditioner i have to say that my hair felt soft but nothing too transcendent. I think it does the job and i was pleased that the smell didn't stay on my hair.
I love this product line so I was a bit disappointed with the smell. It reminded me of lemon-scented worn knee-highs if that makes any sense, LOL! I broke the rules and slept in it because I was too lazy to rinse. The next morning my hair was super-soft and moisturized. My hair was already detangled when I put the product in but it wasn't hard to rinse out and further detangle. Good results. My hair felt strong. Still disappointed about the odor! Phew!! BTW, my hair is color-treated.
When I first got this DT, I'd been using a condish that wasn't getting it done. So I used this DT to replenish the moisture my curls were lacking for 2 days in a row. Then, a week after coloring, I used this instead of the DT I normally use. The texture was thick and initially unspreadable through the tangles in my curls. However, after applying more and working it through, I noticed it had thinned in my hair and produced almost a foam (not a lather, no poo, but that kind of texture). The only other conditioning product that has done this in my recollection is Robert Craig's Conditioner, and that foam-like texture allowed a smaller amount to essentially multiply when worked into my hair. So for the rest of that application and the other 2 days I've used this, I used more normal-sized amounts and massaged the DT into curls without raking until this texture appeared, and then I raked it through to detangle and work it into every bit of my curls. The result of all of this creativity? My curls POPPED on the days I used this DT. Usually, I have to use a leave-in with a little protein in it around a week after coloring to coax my curls back to life like this. Low frizz made this a keeper. As for the fragrance, I am really sensitive and persnickety about fragrance, and this scent leaned citrusy -tangy without ever being overkill. Once I rinsed it out, the fragrance didn't linger and interrupt my day (which with a sharper note like citrus, it would have felt obtrusive). I don't give 5-star reviews often, but this one is a worthy addition.
I have 3b curls that are past shoulder length when wet. My hair is graying naturally (no dye for years) and tends to be dry. I am very impressed with this deep treatment. It spread easily on my wet hair, and I used less product than I normally do with DT products and still got generous coverage and saturation of my hair. I kept the product on for 30 minutes with a plastic cap over it, but no heat. I usually don't use heat when I DT. After rinsing out, I applied a leave-in conditioner as usual for me to help with detangling. Let my hair air dry as usual. It felt fuller, moisturized, and smoother all day long. The ends felt healthy and moisturized down to the tips. I felt like my hair had slightly more shine to it. I am very happy with Stellar Strands and will keep it in my DT rotation. It's one of 3 that I will continue to use (Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! and CJ Deep Fix are my others).
I liked the packaging of the container it's really nice. I had thought to myself wow this product isn't going to last for along time for an 8oz container, however; I was wrong because this product goes along ways. I believe that I can get 4 more uses out of this deep treatment. I liked how thick and creamy this product is but, I did not like the smell. When I had applied the product to my hair, it felt really good going onto my hair. I liked how weighed down and moisturized each strands of my hair was. I had defined curl definition, and I also had good slip. I had left the product in my hair for over 30 minutes more like 2 hours, and I had covered my hair with a plastic heat cap. After I had rinsed out the product, my hair felt so soft. I really enjoyed using the product, and I highly recommend it to other naturals!!
I gave this conditioner 5 curls because it exceeded my expectations, I say this because the past few weeks I have been deep conditioning my hair trying to recover from color damage. When i got this product, I expected just another regular moisturizing deep conditioner at least that's what the front label said. The night before I did do a light pre-poo to my hair but I don't take any credit away from this conditioner. The product does smell like glue from a arts and crafts project, but the smell does not bother me. The consistency is really thick, for some parts of my hair I had to add some more water just to work it through easier. Now since I had things to do I opted for the 30 minutes without the heat. When I rinsed the conditioner out, I was amazed as I said in the beginning I have been deep conditioning weekly for the past weeks but this conditioner showed me some love cause it rejuvenated my hair. It was like it put the other conditioners to shame cause I could feel and see the difference and I loved it. My hair soft, strong and full of lively curls. I am very pleased with this conditioner.
I used this deep conditioner over the weekend. My hair was in need of deep conditioning. I like that this product is very thick and heavy. The scent is okay. I followed the directions and when I rinsed it out my hair was soft but strong. My only negative thought is that this product has no slip so I did have to apply a detangling conditioner afterward so that I could style my hair. This is a good deep conditioner.
