I have wavy-curly hair that frames my face and is prone is flat, uncurly-kinks, poofy, staticky etc etc. I'm also the type who doesn't mess around much with my hair, i.e. major styling time in the bathroom. I either throw it up in a messy bun or want a product that will do what it says once and then every time after that. And this Tigi-Catwalk CCRA DOES JUST THAT! It is a wonderful product. I just put it in my hair yesterday and was liking the results. The bottle clearly states that it is suppose to "Define and Separate" curls, and for me, it did just that. It did not however reduce the flyaway or frizzes. I want to try the Catwalk Curl Defining Serum in addition to this Catwalk CCRA (Curlesque Curl Rock Amplifier). I have tried countless other shampoos, Conditioners, mouses, gels, creams etc etc. And for me, this trumps all those trial and errors. I washed, conditioned, rinsed, gently t-shirt dried my hair then applied this Catwalk Curlesque Curl Rock Amplifier - 2 or 3 pumps into my damp hair then let it air dry, meanwhile scrunching it to assist the curl control and it worked Beautifully. Yes it was slightly frizzier then I had assumed but OH MY how defined and segmented my waves were! Which is something that NO Other product or styling product has been able to do for my hair type. My hair is soft and the scent was not AS STRONG as many other reviewers are claiming it to be; at least not for me and I have a very sensitive nose. The scent was floral and slightly fruity but not too strong and by the end of my day, I hardly smelled it in my locks at all. OVERALL I would recommend IF you have not given this product a try yet, Try it at Least ONCE to see if it works for you. A lot of consumers seem to be complaining that this is something different than the original product, but the company says it is the same exact product the bottle just got a re-styling etc etc. For Me this works and I think I have found a product that I can continue to RE-Purchase again to use on my wavy-curls which are about shoulder length. Yes It is pricey but then again, everything is now-a-days. BTW this is day 2 and my hair looks lovely as if I had just put this on.
Just started using this product and I have wavy-curls that are prone to frizz, flyaways, and poofy craziness. This style cream states that it will "define and separate" curls and or waves and it does. I'm enjoying this product very much and the fact that it does what it says. With no crunchy sticky mess for me. 2 pumps is all I use then I air dry my hair. I would recommend this product.
I do love this product very much, especially on second day+ hair. Be warned though it is very very sticky and you will need soap to get product residue off your hands. I use it sparingly as a touch up scrunching finisher. It certainly does a great job bringing curls back to life and holding definition in humid weather. But girlfriend it is not something I would use if a man is going to be touching your hair later tonight (KinkyCurly curling custard is more boyfriend-friendly)
Been using this since I got my hair cut into a bob and now it's past shoulder length, it works really well gives me great curl definition, the only thing I recommend is using a leave in or a light oil underneath as this can be a bit drying. Definitely my go to styling product.
So glad to see i'm not alone in my feelings on the "revamping" of this product! Ditto to all previous comments here- the frizz, the goo, the heavy. I was also a very loyal Curls Rock fan because it was amazing! Not only is Curlesque line (shampoo, conditioner, & amplifier) not the same amazing product, it is far more expensive. What a shame. I hope TIGI reads these comments and just puts it back. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
I LOVE this curl definer! It gives really great definition very noticeable difference when I do not use it. My hair is about down to my bra in the back and I I have fine hair, medium density and high porosity. After my hair is wrapped in a microfiber towel after my once weekly hair washing I use this as my 2nd product. It works fantastically with the Bed Head Control Freak Serum (which I use first) I think Control Freak Serum is great for Frizz and flyaways and the Curls Rock is great for definition of my curls. I have used this for years and I still wander away from my known loved products to test new ones. I recently tried DevaCurl system starter kit and came running back to these two products. I got good results with the DevaCurl stuff with the exception of serious FRIZZ. My boyfriend even noticed how much frizzier my hair was. He never notices changes in my hair... However, after years of experimenting with hundreds of products I will say that had I not already found my current 4 product line-up I would have been pretty happy with the DevaCurl results... I think. The frizz. I was surprised how much there was after all the rave reviews. I HIGHLY recommend the Control Freak Serum and the Curls Rock!
This product is great but as some other people mentioned you need to be careful with not putting on too much. One pump is enough for me. It doesn't really work well all by itself I have found. So far I have had it for a week or so and have found it hard to achieve great second day hair with it but I haven't played around enough with combining it with my other products. Great for diffusing your hair (didn't try air drying).
Wonderful product. You only need to use a small amount. If you use too much, it makes hair/curls heavy and loaded feeling.
My first use of this product got great results. However, it has the effect of slightly straightening my curls which I don't like, and on day 2 and beyond I get a slightly crinkly halo which is not flattering. Feels very heavy and I have now stopped using because of build up.
I had tried every hair product at the drug store but nothing seemed to tame my frizzy curls (3b) without making it crunchy. Then my hairdresser used this product and my hair looked amazing, even when I woke up the next day. When my curly friend also recommended it, I decided to buy the product myself. I have been using it every day for the past 4 years and have yet to find a better product. It's a bit pricy but you only need a really small amount of cream, so one bottle lasts me about 1 or 2 months and I have long hair. It works best on towel-dry hair, but you have to be careful to distribute it evenly otherwise some parts might get crunchy while others stay frizzy. The sticky cream has really great hold and defines curls while keeping them shiny and frizz-free. Sadly it contains the silicone cyclopentasiloxane so it is officially not Curly Girl method approved. However I read on this website (https://www.truthinaging.com/ingredients/cyclopentasiloxane) that "as a volatile silicone it quickly evaporates into the air after delivering nutrients to the hair". So it's worth a try if your only using silicone-free products, but to avoid too much build-up I would recommend using a sulfate-free shampoo every once in a while.
I have type 3b hair. This is a MUST for my routine. I use a little on my wet hair right out of the shower, then a little more (very little more) to scrunch in just before I blow dry. I can also use between washes, wait a few mins, and the frizz is tamed and curls revived.
I know this curl cream is the Grail for so many others, but for me it's mediocre. When used alone it is good for softening my hair, making it shiny, and some detangling. It does not define or elongate my curls, it looks "stringy", and it has zero hold or frizz control. However, when used as "prep" beneath Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee I get the definition, elongation, hold, and frizz control from BRHG, and a lot less crunch to scrunch from the Amplifier. Any curl cream can do that so this Amplifier is not a necessity for me. I have coarse, low-porosity, dry hair.
The best gel for my 3b hair. Just a little, preferably after a dab of the catwalk leave in (mineral oil seals very well) and curls just pop and keep getting more luxurious as the day goes by. For a perfect hair day better than anything I have tried up to now, constant performance.
I have combination 3C hair with a small section of 4A at the crown. This product makes my 3C curls pop, however it does very little for the drier section at the crown. A little truly goes a long way. It does leave a little crunch but softens by days 2-3.
Absolutely wrecked my hair every time I used it. Hair felt filmy and curls would not stay clumped. (high porosity/fine hair)
I used DevaCurl for a long time and was not happy with how my hair looked. At Sephora and the salons they always told me about Ouidad or DevaCurl or Carol's Daughter but none of those products worked for me. I'm glad I found this site. I love this stuff. I bought the older version since I saw everyone's reviews said it worked better. It does leave the curls slightly crunchy but it fades away throughout the day and leaves the curls soft. My second day curls are always beautiful and the frizz is really well contained. I'm in love with this. So happy.
I think it's horrible for my hair. I read so many great reviews on danish websites, så I bought it. I really wish I never had.. It's so sticky, I can't even get it off my hands afterwards. It feels like it never dries in my hair, it's sticky and feels artificial. If I lie down on my hair for two minutes, then my curls turn flat.
This used to be a fabulous product that left your hair looking great for three days. It was based on amodimethicone, which washes out without sulfates. For some reason, Tigi completely changed the formulation, and now it's terrible. There is no way to get second day hair, and the product is really drying. It contains a large amount of cyclomethicone, so it is hard to wash out, even with sulfates. What a shame. They ruined a great product.
It would give them a look as if I put lot of gel on my hair. It would leave a really unplesent feeling as if my hair was sticky.... :/
this is my holy grail product! This is the only product I use on my naturally curly 3 b hair I just rake it in and scrunch into my wet curly hair and air dry so easy and awesome curls! I just wish I could find this in a larger bottle!
I'm a little disappointed in this. I used the old formula of Curls Rock for years and heard that the new formula of Curlesque was drying people's hair out. So I tried it for myself and after a month of using it, my hair felt like straw. There was no shine, no softness - nothing. It styled my hair the way I was used to but it didn't do anything for keeping my hair healthy. Unless I can find versions of this in the old formula, I'm going to find a different product to use.
This is one of my HG products and my favorite styling product. This provides good hold and definition without leaving my hair sticky or weighed down. Gels and mousses tend to dry out my curls, weigh them down, or leave them feeling sticky, but that is not the case with this product. A little goes a long way and it has a pleasant scent. I have always diffused my hair after applying this product and it works great. Leaves my curls defined and bouncy. Highly recommend!
bleah. Awful. Is a concoction of plastic and silicones and leaves frizzy strands. never buy it again.
My hair is thick, long and curly when wet and a mess when dry. I've tried everything and gave up. I never wore my hair down. A friend with the same hair as mine, recommended this product, so I tried it. At first I used it by itself and it went all hard but gave that wet look I was looking for. I now use a few drops of macadamia oil first then the product, now when my hair drys it's nice and soft curls! I can wear my hair down now! I love it! Thanks Tigi Catwalk ;)
I have 3B/3A hair and before I went CG this was my HG. If it only had no silicones in it I would go back to it for everyday use, I not occasionly still use it as it's so good. You just need a little and you curls will have the perfect hold and shine without having to scrunch your curls after drying. I must say CJ CCCC comes close but is not as light and sometimes weighs down my curls. So if you don't mind a few cones I would definitely recommend this product.
I have been experimenting for YEARS to find my true product/s. I tried this with Curl Keeper, as suggested, but did not work as well as when used alone. Honestly, if you have 3b thick frizzy unruly hair (like me, I am Greek), then you understand how hard this process can be. So far, this stuff is amazing! Work it well through your hair and let air dry in summer but when the humidity dies down, a diffuser will be alright to use. Then, the next day spritz water all around and the product reactivates. My hair lasts for days now! Also, I use hairspray to keep it in tact for second or third day hair. Just a light coat of Tresemme Hairspray. Honestly, this stuff gives you a great hold, a little crunchy but that makes me confident that my perfect curls stay in tact, and I get complements all the time-- even in humid weather. GET THIS PRODUCT.
Having weird kind of 2c /3a hair - that has the consistency of coarse fuse wire. I AM AMAZED. This is brilliant - purchased curlesque shampoo, conditioner, amplifier and defining serum. First try - Thought the shampoo felt a bit dry - but went on ahead. Conditioner - rinse out and light scrunch with towel. Wide tooth comb through - fairly wet hair. Head down - 1 squirt of amplifier - wide tooth comb thru, slight scrunch all over - and LEFT IT ALONE. About an hour later - still tad damp - 2 drops defining serum and scrunch away. Light comb through with fingers and no CRUNCH - glossy TAMED curls - this stuff rocks - 10 hours later - am gobsmacked! Thank you Tigi, am stayog with this - have used full swirl by Redken and crunch city.... I'm SOLD!
Love it! Defines, enhances, holds, keeps frizz at bay. I use this with a medium hold gel on top and can get 2nd day hair with this great combo! Will repurchase. I have 2c/3a porous hair with normal texture.
I love this stuff! It gives me nice curls and to save more time, I mix it with the Tigi Catwalk Serum! Together they create an easy, fantastic do!
Love this cream! It is silky, moisturizing, enhances my curls and leaves them natural looking and bouncy. I have high porosity 2c-3a hair. I use this and recoil interchangeably but I prefer this. It has a water soluble cone, but I'm okay with that. It works great! I use a light to medium hold gel on top (I like arc angel or GVP sculpting gel for this). I normally diffuse dry And get very little crunch with this combo.
I have type 3b-3c long, really thick curls. I don't like to wear my hair natural because, I haven't been able to find a product that defines my curl pattern and eliminates the frizz, I either end up with crunchy hair or not enough hold. I have really bad damage from bleaching, coloring and heat from flat iron use. So, my curls aren't how they use to be....curly on bottom and gets more wavy up to the crown. This product works well, I have great curl definition, but my hair ended up crunchy from just one pump, so after it dried a bit I gently scrunched them and the curls were soft with minimal frizz. I only added a pea size amount of bio silk with it and nothing else, and I let it air-dry. The product is a little sticky, but it smells wonderful. Finally a product that has me wanting to embrace my curls again!
I have the Canadian version of this product which doesn't look exactly like the picture but has the same name. I found it really sticky and awkward to scrunch in. It did help with clumping but then didn't really help with frizz at all. It also felt really heavy in my hair and there was no chance of decent 2nd day hair. I think I'm going to have to donate or toss this one.
I love this product. I have super high density 3b/3c hair and it works great at creating curl definition and managing frizz. The product was a bit sticky in my hands, but my hair absorbed the product well. It also had an amazing tropical scent which I enjoyed. This product is a game changer for me. LOVE
This was horrible on my hair. I bought it because of all the great reviews. I used just the tiniest amount because of the cautions about stickiness. My hair turned out a mess. Sticky, lifeless, dry and dull looking. Didn't work for my 2c/3a hair. At all.
They seem to have changed the formula, and it made my hair dry and lifeless with a lot of build-up. So after using the Curls Rock line for more than a decade, I've changed brands and thrown out the remainder of my Tigi stuff.

When used with the Foxy Curls spray and a touch of Curlesque Strong Hold Mousse, gave no crunch and added to beautiful beachy curl definition on my long, fine 2B/C hair! Also good second day hair, easily refreshed - LOVE! :D And no protein :D Yay!....I found my first HG product! =)
I liked this product at first, but I had the same problem I usually run into when looking 4 hair stuff. Either it doesn't hold well and is frizzy or it holds well and makes my hair crunchy. My hair is so thick and so curly. Kinda a cross between 2c and 3a. Anyway, I went back to foxy curls by bed head. It holds well and stiff or flexible styles can be created by the amount you use.
I really like this product, but I make sure not to use alot because it tends to make my curls look and feel extremely crunchy. I will buy again for sure, just not in bulk. I've had it for about two months, I use it every single day, and it's not even close to running out. I think it's a little on the pricey side, but not terrible.
I've been using this product for a couple days now and really am impressed so far. It defines my curly/wavy hair with only a pea-size amount and doesn't leave my hair crunchy or weighed down like gels typically do. So far I'm pleased. :)
This is the only product in the world for me to fight the frizz due to the silicone. So be it. I can even diffuse my hair and a windy day doesn't mess it up either. My hair looks lovely, which I could not get with CG only. I worry a bit tho about the build up from silicone and if a shampoo without SLS could help prevent that. We'll see.
LOVE this stuff. I have a 3a/3b hair hybrid. It works fantastically for me. I only use it on really wet hair on first day, then let it air dry. Many people will complain that it makes your hair crunchy. However, all you have to do it let it dry, play with/scrunch it a bit, then you're all set. I live in Seattle where it is almost always wet, yet this stuff holds the curl. I love it. I would use it on day 2 or 3 if it didn't make my hair greasy. I tend to use less greasy hair stylers for day 2&3.
Omgee does this work wonders well for my 3b-3cheight curls it does soft shiny ultimate hold with no frizz its on one of my top 5 products way at the top plus has a great clean smell love it!
I use this product everyday and have yet to find a good competitor. It's a mix between a cream and a gel but doesn't leave my hair at all crunchy. A little goes a long way and if I use it at night and diffuse my hair, I only need to wet it a little the next morning to bring my curls back to life. Great product!
First time use was two days ago. I think I may have used a bit too much after reading other reviews. This product defines and holds my crazy curls very well, adds shine and moisture but is too stiff for my personal preference. The curls were a strange combination of soft and crunchy. I believe that this product would be very useful for taming frizz and holding your curls in place during our extremely humid summers in Florida, but I the trade off is the lack of movement and stiffness of hold. I will continue to use it and tweak the amounts used for a while to see if using a bit less will allow for hold without stiffness. If things get better, I'll post again.
I used this in combination with Redken ringlet 07, so I'm not sure if that had any affect what-so-ever on my results, but I'm pretty sure what happened with my hair was mostly this product. Anyway, it was extremely sticky to put on. It was awkward to add to my hair, but once it dried it was much better. My hair wasn't as soft as with other products, but it wasn't "crunchy" at all. It just had hold to it. I will say it DEFINITELY enhanced my curl. My hair is majorly curly on the bottom, and has somewhat waved out on the top layers through the years. It really helped to bring back a lot of what I've lost. I have to say my hair looks MUCH better than it ever has with other products (without styling or assistance). I'll keep using it and see how I like it over time, but for this time I'd definitely buy it again, and I'd definitely recommend it to help the curl stay curly when dried, and not frizz up.
After nearly 4 months of CG and still good amounts of frizz, i decided id ditch CG and try some cone products- thus i bought this one! I love it! It gets really of nearly all my frizz -even when the weather sucks and leaves my hair nice and shiny. With some of the CG products i loved, the moment wind would blow or the temperature would change a bit i would frizz up. With curlesque though my hair stays looking nearly the same ^.^ I also like that to get this effect you dont need a lot of product. Also many people complain that the new formula is not as good. However, with me I found that the old formula made my head itch uncontrollably, however curlesque doesn't give me these problems. All in all, I definitely recommend this product!
This Product, I will say is really great for controling frizz, a few weeks ago on a very rainy humid night here in NY, I went out after using this product, and my hair looked great all night...despite the awful weather....However, I did have to apply twice, first time I layered with Shea Moisture Curling milk...big mistake...lots and lots of white chunky build up...second time around I only used this and was statisfied..I have learned that using VERY little of this stuff will work, and trust me I have VERY long, thick hair, I have been layering ( using a staple of mine and cheapie too Clear Ice styling gel by ampro) again using very little, for frizz control only and it works well. For me, I think because my curls are pretty well defined with out product it doesnt enhance...more like it controls...found it at my local walmart, after reading a review here...cost me 12 bucks...will get many usages for the price.
I wasn't a huge fan of this. Although my hair was not frizzy, it felt fairly dry and was pretty crunchy. Also, after testing it for a few days, conditioners didn't take well on my hair as if it had build up, yet my hair was dry. I will say though, it goes on with great slip.
3b/3c fine thin hair in humid Hawaii Love this all in one product. Its great for helping lifeless hair curl and also gives hold. I can do a quik wash and go with this product and not have to worry that my hair wont hold all day. This is an awesome product. I think I have stocked up under my sink. If i need extra hold and extra curl on those really humid days I pair it with redken spring mousse. I get awesome all day hair that can be revived with water.
Pros- I absolutely L-O-V-E this stuff, it works sooo great with keeping frizz away, and giving me great hold(: Cons- You have to use just the right amount, too much makes curls super crunchy, but not enough just makes limp frizzy curls(:
I absolutely love this product! I tell all my friends with curly hair to use it. All long as you put it in your hair while it's still pretty wet and don't use too much.
Added nice separated waves without feeling like I had a lot of product in my hair. Really liked it!
I love this product. Don't apply too much but when I use just the right amount my hair looks wonderful even on day 2.
I can't believe I'm saying this but... this is the best styler I have ever used for my 3b curls!!! I use this over my Sheamoisture curl enhancing smoothie on wet hair and defuse. I get well defined shiny curls. Also, this is the only product I have used so far that has given me second day hair, Holy Grail Product!!!!
Not the same as the original Curls Rock Curl Amplifier ...they say it's the same but it is not. Original product, TIGI Curls Rock Curl Amplifier...remains my #1 product ever...always go back to it. as do my other curly girl friends.
Awesome product! The definition is absolutely incredible and you only need a small amount, so it lasts a while. It does get ridiculously crunchy, but you can scrunch it out once your hair's dry without an issue. Holds well all day.
This my HG product! I have used HUNDREDS of products and this is the best I've found! This doesn't leave my hair crunchy at all. Maybe i just use less product on my hair.
I have a 3B type curl and this product works so well! Plus the next morning I can just apply a little more serum for shine and frizz control (Paul Mitchell Serum) and some water and voila my hair looks as fantastic as it did the day before!
Hands down one of the worst products I've ever used. I have fairly curly corkscrews and all this product did was turn it into crunchy sticks. It's so bad I have to wash my hair again and start over. I will never, never, never use this again.
I really like this as a styler. My only concern is all the silicones, I do feel as though it could build up rather quickly. I keep it for special occasions because I cannot deny how beautifully it defines my curls. Love it. Plus, a little goes a VERY long way.
Wow, this works on my hair. Give great hold and i prefer a little crunch so love it. especially the new formulae in the curlesque bottle. love it.
I just LOVE this product, but I mix it with equal parts of Curl Keeper. Mixed together it is wonderful... it keeps my 3b curls soft, shiny and defined. Try them together, trust me Im a curly Hair stylist and I have tryed so many products and with living in a high humidity state I need my hair to hold up. Even next day curls are great, all I need to do is spray it with a little water and my curls are great. The most important thing is not to touch your hair till its 100% dry so it sets than when it totaly dry I can scrunch it and it look fantastic. :)
This is probably my most favorite product ever. I have 3c hair and have always used a curl cream and gel to style my hair until the first time I went to my then new stylist. I only use this one product to style my hair now. It's amazing, I highly recommend it.
I have used this stuff since I stopped straightening my hair and love it. I only need a tiny amount for my long 2-something hair. Its quite thick so sometimes I dilute with another product like a leave-in conditioner. It holds my curl well in summer, but not in winter, which is why I have only put 4 as a curl rating. Also, its full of 'cones' so I won't be able to use when I go CG.
When my hairstylist used this on me, i didn't see huge difference but it did help with some frizz and held my curls for awhile.
3a curls. I wasn't sold on this the first time I tried it. Now I love this product. I first use the catwalk conditioner, as a leave in on sopping wet hair, then add a "pea" size amount of amplifier. I rub my hands together to get both hands coated, sometimes add a little water then scrunch through my hair. Then plop in a t-shirt, then diffuse dry. I have rockin' curls with this combo. I know has silicone, but wow why change what works??
One of those Holy Grail products I always like to have around. Great, well defined curls, even on the most humid of days!
This is a great product for those funky curls. Make sure not to overload product and use on towel dried hair.(too much water will dilute the product)
I'm pretty darn happy w/this product - I have short hair w/long layers that needs to be weighed down, and this does the trick! I mix a blob of this with a dab of Kiehl's Silk Groom and skip the conditioner in the shower. Adds texture to my curls and resists frizz. It's definitely a keeper and the price is right, too!
I have used this product for about 2 yrs now. Overall its a good product, I like the manageability of my hair, it doesn't dry it up. The only downside... FLAKES!!
I love this product, I find it works better than the Foxy Curls Contour Cream cause it doesn't leave it as crunchy. This one works very well with frizz and it doesn't look like you have a lot of product, very natural actually, accentuates very well. I have wavy/curly hair, and it works well for me.
I love this stuff! Great hold, defined curls, smells great, and you don't need a lot! I have very thick 3a curls, so if you have thinner hair it might weigh it down.
LOVE THIS PRODUCT! You only need to use about a dime size...to much will cause flaking but if you apply to much you only need to spray hair with water and rinse some out. I have not found a product that can compare to this..I cant live without..
This is by far one of the best products i've used on my 3A hair. I'm on my 8th bottle or something! Just make sure you know a little goes a long way because if you use to much it'll leave you crunchy!
I've been trying many many curly hair products for some time now..and I think I've finally nailed it with this one. Love it! I have 3b hair and so far its given me my curls shape again...a little definition yet soft. You don't have to put too much of it in your hair and you don't need to mix it with another product. It's best on its own.
This product is great! Leaves my(3b)curls well-defined and frizz free. I've been using for about 3 years-by far the best I've tried. Well worth the price. A little goes a long way.
I think this does/gives everything it should; clumping, shine, softness & hold without much crunch, however, the scent is not to my liking & the price is a bit much for the size.
I used to be a product junkie...always trying to find that magic potion that would give me defined, manageable curls. Until I used the Curl Amplifier, I didn't realize how great my hair could look! I'm 3a/3b and I am completely hooked on the stuff. For a while, I didn't want to even tell my other curly-haired friends about this product because I wanted to have the best hair! Other reviewers complain about the build-up, however, I've used this stuff for over a year and I haven't experienced any problems.
Love this on my 3b hair. Great curl definition and the crunch scrunches out for soft, bouncy curls. Am stocking up on it now because I fear Foxy Curls will replace it.
I love this product!! my hairstylist used it on my 3a hair, and It turned out amazing! A little crunchy, but amazing! And the smell is heavenly :)
Just like all the reviews you read, we have all tried every combo you can possibly imagine. This is the ONLY thing I use now. I use three pumps, runs the palms of my hands over my hair and I'm out the door. At the end of the day, just add a little water to refresh your curls. Works great even with the Texas humidity.
I have been using this product for a while now. I have found that I can't use it alone, but used underneath Biolage Gelee it works well. I use 2 pumps for my thick, layered hair.
I use this in combination with the leave-in moisturizer and it's great stuff! My 3A/B hair really responds to this. My curls are very defined, no frizz (I try my hardest not to touch my hair at all which helps) and my hair never feels weighed down. The best tip I have heard is to add water to the product and then rub your hands together and apply it to your hair. It's so true! Water helps tremendously and can give you more or less curl control depending on the ever-changing weather. I don't have any issue with product build-up, I use a gentle poo-less shampoo 3x a week.
This works great on my hair (3b) and I've used it for about 2 years now. You do have to find the perfect amount for your hair so not to have buildup. I couldn't live without it!!
I am on my third bottle of this product. It surely does what it says it does. I get great hold and definition after using this product and blow drying my hair with a diffuser. I scrunch my hair inbetween to get more curl volume. It does leave my hair a little stiff but I just run my hand over my head with a little water. Voila!I have shiny defined curls.
This product gave my curls great definition! My hair is dark and very fine, but it adds a lot of badly needed volume whilst reducing frizz. I use it witht he curl booster, and wet my hands before I use it. I let it dry naturally and then run my fingers through it. It gives great shine too! and smells gorgeous!
I rarely repurchase any product, as I am always searching for something better, but this has been in my rotation regularly for about 2 years now. I like that it gives great curl definition w/out weighing my 2b/3a hair down. It smells great (tropical) and mixes well w/ most products. Less is better w/ this puppie:For my thick long hair I use 3/4 a pump under my gel of choice. Unfortunately this is full of cones, and once I run out I will have to wave goodbye to my lil friend, as I am going to start the modified CG routine.
I LOVE this product. It works wonderfully on my very thick, very layered, long hair. About one pump is good enough for me to rake through all my hair. My hair is completely frizz-free and very nice definition, although not as good definition as Jessicurl . And since it is on the expensive side, I can still use cheap shampoo like Finesse or Suave and it still works great on my hair, without ever drying it out or causing buildup. It also smells great!
this cream is awesome for curl definition, but definitely needs to be thinned out with water in your palms before applying it to hair
I used to always wish I could find a product that made curls look as defined when they dried as they did when they were wet. I found it in this product! It's a pretty heavy cream and my hair loves it. Amplifier leaves my curls well defined and pretty soft too (maybe just a little crunch). No frizz. As a bonus, if I re-wet my hair the next day and either re-work it through my hair or scrunch, my curls look the same as the first day. I don't find any problems washing it out using a CO wash. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product!
You will get a lot of flaking with too much product (very obvious on my dark brown hair) but has excellent control and helps add definition to curls in Souther California (read: no humidity). Will build up and is tough to wash out on a no-poo system.
This product was highly recommended by the salesperson as the best and most popular product for curls. It was absolutely useless - worse than useless in fact. It made my hair crunchy and dry, and it turned into white flakes whenever I moved and touched my hair. It made my hair drier than normal... and guess what? it was expensive too. Doesn't matter how much or how little you use (I tried all different amounts), this product is a waste of space.
I like this product for several reasons, but also had to stop using it. The good: provides excellent control and smoothing to coarser curls, smells great, good for reducing frizz on already dry hair. The bad: over time this can dry hair out, and can be too crunchy. The problem with it gunking up, or in my experience congealing into white chunks, is not because it is too old but because you can't use it with certain products (I think in general it doesn't go well with silicone based or smoothing products due to the curl enhancing ingredients.)
I really like the smell of this stuff, and it does eliminate my frizzies- but it is really thick and you have to really wash it out. However, I tried using a bottle from about a year ago (I forgot I had some left) and it must expire or something because the consistency was all wrong. It chunked up in my hands and so I didn't put it in my hair. That's my gripe. It goes bad.
Want variety? TRY THIS!. This product will leave hair with what could be considered a thin texture, that is, it will not build thick curls. It enhances curls but not into springy spirals. I like it to give a different look to my hair. It survives humidity and will not dry out the hair. It CONTROLS!. They told me to apply a small amount but I insisted in applying by sections and it worked better. It is fun. Try it.
I really like this products. Two pumps completely control my mid-back length hair. It doesn't "enhance" curl, but it keeps frizz under control, adds shine, and smells great. It has a very slippery, conditioning texture when applying. Not great for CO girls...you need to wash every now and then when using this b/c it can build-up.
I love this stuff!! I use it with the curl booster and it's the best thing since sliced bread. My hair is very thick and frizzy and it absorbs most products, but not this one. This is what I've been looking for. It's great!!
This is the only thing to use in the winter once the frizzies set in. You get great definition, and as long as you don't use too much (less than one pump for my chin-length hair) it doesn't get crunchy. Very heavy stuff - hard to wash off your hands. You can water it down with something light also. In the summer I use about 1 part of this to 3 parts of Devacurl Angell.
