Friends stopped in at Lush to pick something up for a Mom and I got a sample after my eyes fell out of my head at the price of a whole container...now I have to stop shopping with them. LOL I have really thick 3A/3B hair (currently shoulder length) and I don't need much at all, about a teaspoon's worth that I rub between my hands; it does not get sudsy like regular 'poos. Unfortunately, I love what it does for my hair -- more so than the L'Oreal sulfate free shampoo I've been using. I have hard water and while there is a sulfate in Curly Wurly, it must be one that doesn't react poorly with the hard water...no straw-head here. There are actual chunks of coconut you can see with the naked eye, but they aren't *that* hard to wash out, I haven't had any left in my hair after my cold-water-condintioner-rinse-out with a wide toothed pick. I do wish the coconut was a little more chopped up and incorporated...shampoo should not remind me of German chocolate cake frosting! =D Smells fantastic. Deducted 1 curl for price; I can't justify 2-3 years' worth of regular shampoo costs on one container...I balked when I had to start buying $7 shampoo. *stupid hard water*
The shampoo is okay, but not a 5 star rating. I use it once in two weeks when I really want to clean my hair. I use the banana conditioner of TBS after to make sure my hair is moisturised. This way it is a good combination. I do hate the fact that pieces of cocos are still in my shower after I have rinsed it out.
Curly Wurly was okay for me. The scent was mild which I liked but I was expecting it to be more moisturising. My hair felt a tad dry after use but was cleansed. I suggest pairing this with a good conditioner.
Really like this shampoo, my curls really spring up after using it. I don't find it as moisturizing as I'd like so I make sure I use a good conditioner afterwards. Once in a while I find a stray bit of coconut in my hair, but that's more a function of user error than it is the fault of Curly Wurly
I use this as my heavy duty clarifier (I'm doing CG) about once a month as opposed to weekly low poos, but sometimes I'll "slip up" and use a cone or two when styling my hair or if I just want a really, really deep clean, or if I came back from the salon (this shine serum we're putting in your hair is cone free my butt) I turn to Curly Wurly. Yes, it does have a sulfate, and when I rinse it out, my hair does feel like I used a sulfate, but this particular shampoo has lot of great ingredients too, smells AMAZING (real coconut with some sweet, resinous undertones) and it's just plain fun to use. My hair is obviously not as soft or silky as when I co-wash, but once I use a good DT it looks great, and does not break off like if I used a standard clarifer (like suave or prell). It's very good stuff.
Awesome shampoo! Extremely moisturizing, improves curl shape and shine. Pair this with Cynthia Sylvia Stout by mixing them together for the perfect daily hair treatment.
This is a very moisturizing shampoo. My curls felt clean, but also soft. Love the ingredients. Wish it was in a regular bottle (packaging is a little funky). Other than that, the perfect shampoo.
I never quite got this shampoo. I got it free when I worked for the company, and it was just goopy, hard to wash out (because of the chunks of coconut) and didn't really seem to do much of anything for my hair. I had much better results with my Cynthia Sylvia Stout, and you would think that they wouldn't have put big chunks in a shampoo for curly hair, since it's already hard enough to wash a lather out of it.
