I was so excited to try this, so I'm sad that I don't like it. I tried it by itself and under a gel, and both times I got deformed-looking, gimpy, weak curls, and it also turned some of my curls into waves (but not all of them, so I ended up looking like I didn't finish styling my hair). I give it 2 curls instead of just 1 because I still got compliments from two strangers... so *someone* liked the way my hair looked! ;b

This did not work for my hair. It left my curls limp and gave no body. I also had some frizz and lots of flyaways. After it dried I tried to scrunch my curls and things just got worse from there.

This product COULD have been a good one for my very frizz-prone, fine, 3b curly hair in a dry, desert climate. But, as so many manufacturers do, they added a perfume that is way too strong for me. I tried this stuff 3 times as I really wanted to like it but each time the overpowering scent got stronger and more intense as my hair dried later in the day (not blown dry). I couldn't stand it. On the third day, the side of my face broke out where my hair was touching. If you have allergies or sensitivities, pass on this one. If scent doesn't bother you, then by all means give it a try but be sure to use a leave-in conditioner underneath it.

I had to use about 2 ounces of this product to get completely frizz free. However this product left my hair feeling producty (felt like plastic was in it). I ended up with zero volume and couldn't gently run my fingers through it once it was dry. The sent left me with a migraine so bad I had to wash my hair and clarify the next day. This product would be great if it was sent free.

I've been using this product for about a month now and I simply couldn't be more in love! Since I started using this product in combination with AG's re:coil I've noticed a significant improvement in how healthy my hair both looks and feels. I have super-fine hair, so it doesn't take much at all for a product to be too heavy for my hair, but CK is just right. On both the up and down-side this product is water based, meaning I feel completely guiltless when I put it in second-day hair but also have had a bit of trouble controlling how much comes out of the bottle and keeping it firmly in my hand while trying to apply it. Being almost comically clumsy could also be a contributing factor to the later. Bottom line? I love this product. I see that not everyone has had my experience with it, but I love it and my hair look great. I'm hooked.

I use CK with AG Recoil and I love it. I rake the CK through my hair first and then AG Recoil. I do it when my hair is still soaking wet. I put my hair in a microfibre towel for about ten minutes and then I let my hair air dry. When my hair is mostly dry, I use a blow dryer with a diffuser to get some volume. I get great curls with no frizz.

I'm learning that my hair doesn't respond well to glycerin at all. This product did not work for me. My hair was greasy and frizzy. The smell is horrible. If your hair likes glycerin and gets weighed down easily, then perhaps this is the product for you. For me, I moved on.

Terrible product for my 4a hair. It gave absolutely no curl definition - it was a terrible frizzy mess. I gave it multiple tries as well but practice did not help matters. On my son's 3a hair it did define his curl, but did not impart moisture.

I love this product for my 3b hair BUT I have to use it with a leave in conditioner to get the results otherwise it doesn't work as well. If I didn't have to use a leave in conditioner with it, I would have given it a 5 curl rating. Also, I can't just scrunch and go, I have to skip curl my hair like he shows you in his video or else it still frizzes up. I use Goldwell Kerasilk conditioner as a leave in.

Great for my 3B hair!!! I tried this product expecting it not to work.. but it was amazing!! You have to use a lot and comb thru when wet and let air dry without touching.. a little touch of some hair spray. Never until i tried this product can i have soft curls (always had crunchy ones to keep in curls all day). I just bought the liter amount today because I know i will be using this forever!!!

I do like this product. I have tons (about 6) curl cremes in my bathroom, and most just dont do well without added gel, mouse etc. I like my curls defined, soft, bouncy with some volume as my hair is fine, but have medium amount of hair..when I paired this with Aveda's Curl Creme...EXCEPTIONAL! If I used with CHS gel, STICKY, CRUNCHY...that 80's wet sticky curl look...YUK! Even using store bought curl creme..i.e. Garneir Fructise curl creme, did pretty well too. I found that when I applied product(s) my hair was pretty saturated then I would bend over and take a towel and squeeze excess while scrunching. Then I could gently place my curls how I wanted and let dry!! Excellent this way!

This worked great on my 3c/4a hair! I agree with other reviews that CK is used best when mixed with a gel. I was able to get 4 day hair and my curls still pop when I run wet fingers through the hair and add a little CK to revive flat or frizzy sections. The only downside is that it is easy to really go through a lot of CK to get the best results but if used with a gel you won't need to use as much CK.

And I really tried with it...I looked at all the tips on the main website and emailed back and forth with the consultant. I will say that they did have good customer service and the product does make your hair shine. Returning or swapping remaining and not buying ever again

Great stuff. Nicely accentuates my 3a/3b curls and provides incredible hold without stickiness or crunch. One of the few products that allows me to have "2nd day hair." The only caveat: I go through this product very quickly, so now I only use it when I really need to have a great hair day.

I love this product. I bought this last year, and got horrible results. However, I read reviews of many others that liked this in combo with Jessicurl CCSS and Batia & Aleeza Gel, so I decided to try it again. I have very thick 3b/3c hair that likes to spiral, so the first thing I did was break my hair into 4 sections. Then I went through and with my fingers raked in the CHS Silk Leave-In, followed by the CK, CCSS, and BA gel. I had already detangled with my shower comb while my hair was full of conditioner, so I opted not to comb the CK in, since I wanted to encourage ringlet groupings. My hair had body, movement, curl definition, no frizz, and my ringlets clumped together beautifully. CK definitely did its job in locking out the frizz! Now that I know how to apply the product correctly, I'm loving the results. Day 2 looked great as well. I want to thank the other ladies on NC, particularly the other 3cs that wrote product reviews. I learned the importance of layering the CK with other products since my hair is so thick and curly. The sectioning and rake technique worked beautifully with this product mix.

This is the best product for frizzy unmanageable curls! I love it. I used it on soaking wet hair comed it through then added some gel and leave in conditioner. After scrunching I air dried for as long as I could but because I have limited time in the morning I finished with a diffuser and blow drier. I have the softest, non-frizzy curls ever! This product does what is claims to do. I've already ordered a liter. This is my HG!!

Hate, Hate, Hate this product! I have 3b curls that tend to form by themselves. When I use this I have to spend too much time finger curling my hair. It drained my natural shine and highlights so my hair looked dull and dead, and it sucked all of the moisture out. I mixed it with a leave-in and it seemed to prevent the leave-in from absorbing into my hair folicles. I am happy that it works for some, but don't expect a miracle for everone! If you want to spend 30 minutes finger curling it does hold the shape nicely, but I would only try if your hair is alreay half dead, not if it's healthy.

Interestingly, using CK alone doesn't do much fo rmy hair, but using it in combination with certain texturizers yeields wonderific results. I have used this product in conjunction with my Momo serum, which yeilded horrible, stringy, chaotic curls that didn't hold a shape. On the hand, I use this product with Re:Coil for the best head of curls I have ever stepped out of the house with. This product amuses me, too, because it smells exactly, EXACTLY like old lipstick.

This product did define my curls and they looked fine for a month. But it is extremely drying! The second ingredient is PVP/VA colpolymer, a plastic. I had to wash frequently with the strong shampoo (from the same line) to remove the build-up and my hair ended up like straw. If you use Curl Keeper, alternate it with another product. Better yet, avoid it.

After much experimentation I finally figured out how to use this product. I start by adding CK right out of the shower on soaking wet hair (I use about a quarter sized puddle). Then I add Re:Coil (or Rockin Ringlets) and rake it through my hair and scrunch the excess water out. Finally I add about a half dollar sized puddle of gel and scrunch it in my hair for extra hold. I plop for 15min then diffuse with my hair hanging over my head. I get great curl formation and they even start from my roots using this system. I take away CK and I don't get as much height from the roots or great clumping.

I did have high hopes for this product, but it just didn't work for my lifestyle. I have tried it for a solid 3 weeks using it in many different ways and all were unsuccessful. In general my hair felt dry, coarse, and even sticky when using the recommended amount of product. Also, my healthy 3a/3b curls would fall to a wave after a few hours regardless of how much product I was using. The one thing that did work was that my curls were frizz free. I immediately went back to my old techniques that leave my hair bouncy, shiny, and very soft. Condition, leaving a little in when rinsing, gel, and finally lifting the crown with clips to get more height whether air drying to diffusing.

This product didn't work for me at first. There's a certain technique...you have to apply to DRIPPING wet hair and rake through hair. Then rub some more between your palms and scrunch into your hair- you should hear a squishy noise if your hair is wet enough. Then I scrunch some gel in and use a microfiber towel to scrunch some of the water out and define curls. That's what works for me! I get shiny bouncy well-defined curls after scrunching again when it's dry. I've only been using it about a week, so I hope it keeps working so well. Then I'll have my HG!!

It did nothing for curl formation, or for friz and it's holding power was next to nil.

I adore this stuff. I got the 4 oz. bottle to try, and after a week or so, I'm getting that liter size! I have tried some really great stuff, but my hair has never looked better than with this. EVER! I use it on dripping wet hair, put a little gel over it and plop... and it's amazing! I've also discovered that I can use a cheap conditioner and gel with this, and I think that's pretty cost effective. Give it a try!

OMG! I just used this product today and it is awesome! I used my regular leave in conditioner and gel beneath the curl keeper and let it air dry, as I took a nap. When I woke up I had the most beautiful silky, elongated ringlets that I have ever had. It was a tad crunchy at first, but as I played with and finger styled it, the crunch went away. I had no frizz and no pouf. This is definetley in the holy grail category for me!

The curl formation that I receive from this product is outstanding! Zero frizz...minimal crunch that is easly scrunched out. I ordered the trial size of this and am kicking myself now! Should have ordered a gallon!

Great stuff!! This and the Batia and Aleeza gel are the only styling products I've tried that actually work for me without making my hair feel crunchy or stiff. It's liquidy so very easy to work through my hair. When it dries there's a slight crunch, but I can quickly scrunch it out and then my hair is non-frizzy, defined, SOFT, and SHINY all day! The hold doesn't disappear by the end of the day or when my hair is touched or aggravated (like trying on clothes at the mall lol). It's the solution to my lifelong battle with my hair! Now I get so many compliments, and I can actually look in the mirror--or even PLAY with my hair, which I could never do before--and be happy with my hair.

I absolutely love this product! It gives definition and helps tame frizz. I live in Southern PA and work in MD, we get serious humidity in the summer. I combine this with the curl keeper gel and Blended Beauty's Kick for Curls. It works great in the humidity, even held up during my 2 week vacation to Jamaica. In the winter I only use the Curl Keeper and Batia & Aleeza's Gel.

Can't say enough good things about this product. I have used so many serums and potions over the years and this is the best. It looks like water but has a thicker consistency. If you run this through soaking wet hair then put on a little AG ReCoil through your tresses, you will get perfectly frizz free hair that will blow you away. This is the best one to set the tone for your finishing product then any other on the market. I call it the perfect distributor because it sets the tone for a really great hair day. It's almost enough but not quite so I distribute a little AG ReCoil through it afterwards and thats all I need to do. If I do not touch my hair and simply let it dry naturally, in a few hours my hair is gorgeous with this stuff. It will look crinkly and wet while its drying but if you gently rub your tresses by pulling on the locks a little and shaking it out, it cracks and you get soft loose curls underneath the crunch.

ok, i had to give this product another try. my hair is a lot longer now and i found a better leave-in conditioner. Great curl definer and frizz reducer! My hair held up all day, no problems. No flaking and just a little crunchiness which I really only get if i don't use a leave-in. had great definition even in my tiny, corkscrew 4a sections. definitely a keeper!

I'm torn about this product. Smells great, and really feels like water in your hand. It didn't leave build-up, but it really did nothing for my 4a/3c curls. Oddly, my hair felt stiff and drier once I applied it. I am going to give the stuff another try, since I went to the official website and pulled some useful tips.

I so wanted this product to work for me when I have troubles fighting frizz. It never did help much with frizz though. It did make my hair feel soft and I seemed to get better 2nd day hair, but not much. Made my hair straighter. Smells weird but good.

I hate to go against the weight of popular opinion on this one, but it's just a liquid gel. If you don't get on with gels, don't bother. I get better clumping and definition with a dab of Clynol ID conditioner under a small amount of Sebastian Moulding Mud.

Love this stuff for keeping the frizz at bay! It's awesome layered over a leave-in underneath your styler (cream, gel or mousse!). I've never used it just as a styler because it's so expensive. But it's an HG alone for frizz! I have found I don't need it in the winter as my hair tends to become a bit smoother on it's own when it's cool. Has an odd scent that I've come to really like. Feels and looks like a serum almost, but it's totally CG. Definitely worth the money.

I have 2B/3A hair, & this is my summer HG! There is NOTHING like CK for beating the frizz in the heat & humidity. For me, it is key to comb it through my hair after rinsing out conditioner, then plopping in a t-shirt for a few minutes to let it "do it's thing". I then scrunch in my gel & voila - perfect hair day!

I can see how this would work for some people, but it didn't do it for me. It made my hair very soft, shiny, and frizz-free, but my curls fell to barely a wave. It almost seemed like it made my hair to smooth and sleek to clump together and form curls. I got smooth, shiny, soft hair in skinny, barely wavy strings. I do like it for when I straighten. I'm sure it would work better for coarser curls that hold their shape on their own.

I tried this on my fine, wave-a-licious hair and it did zippo. Felt slimy, and went crunchy on me. Yes, I used it with their leave-in which also didn't do anything for me, too lightweight. I suspect this is best used on really thick springy curls, with other products.

Just purchased the product and used my sister (4a-4b) to experiment with. it definitely defined her tiny curls and waves however dried very crunchy. I gave it 4 because it did not flake and leaves absolutely "NO BUILDUP"! Her curls were light and bouncy. Amazing!!!I was told to use a leave in conditioner with it. I will definitely be using the product once come out of my braids!!!

Unfortunately, Curl Keeper did absolutely nothing for my hair. I tried layering it under a few different gels, and it did not reduce frizz any more than the gel alone. It gave my hair a fake/producty shine that I did not like either. I know lots of people love this product, but it wasn't for me.

In terms of 'Holy Grails', this would definitely qualify! I am amazed at the consistant performance of this product. Use it alone, it works well. Pair it with a gel or mousse, it works well.
