I just bought a sample of this gel and have been gradually increasing the amount I use in my hair. So far things have been good. It can feel a little product-y, but it's definitely not as bad as some gels that I've tried, like AnGel. I haven't had any issues with it being too crunchy; in fact it's surprisingly flexible given it's supposed to be a "strong hold" gel. I especially like that I can still comb my fingers through my hair with it in to make my waves a little looser and softer. I have high hopes that this will work well for me when the humidity starts to rise since the primary holding ingredient is PVP/VA Copolymer and it doesn't contain glycerin. As an added bonus, it plays very nicely with KCCC. Definitely try this if you have wavy porous hair and need a gel without glycerin.

So, I must start by saying that I am a Giovanni Product Whore!!!! I love this brand and the gel is great. I use it on dry product free hair for my twist outs and my hair always comes out ab-fab!!! i also mix equal parts gel, smooth as silk conditioner, and sweet almond oil and use that as a hair cream on freshly washed wet hair and the curls come out just right with no flaking the next day

Nice gel for my porous, fine hair, locally available, and cheap! No glycerin which is a plus, and I can dilute it in my hand with water, mix it with other gels. Goes over any leave-in without conflict, and holds my curs. I like to mix it with Kinky Curly Curling custard or Just Great Curls from Design Essentials.

I like to use this, especially in the winter when I need a gel without lots of extra humectants (due to the low dewpoints where I live). It layers well over other products to give a nice firm hold--a little goes a long way.

Hmm I really wanted to like this gel but it gave me mediocre results. My hair felt stringy and tacky after using this product. It was really strange... my hair wasn't defined but it wasn't soft either. Will not purchase again.

I didn't have very good luck with this gel. It made my hair sticky at first, then crunchy, and the crunch didn't scrunch out too easily (and when that happens, we all know what happens....FRIZZ). It also smelled kind of chemically after it dried. I like Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic Jelly much better for hold and pre-scrunch crunch. It scrunches out much better and leaves a better end result.

I really like this gel. It has great hold. It works great over Curl Junkie Coffe Coco Cream. Just hope it works this great with high humidity.

I'm only going to give this 2 curls because my hair didn't look horrible, but like the others said, it was way too heavy and made my hair look like I put glue in it. I would recommend this for extreme hair styles, like a mohawk or something xD

This gel just didn't do anything for my hair except make it feel producty. Tried it several times with no luck at all.

the stickiness was only noticable when I first put it on. It is very expensive thought, so I don't think I will buy again.

This gel was way to thick and sticky. It made my hair very crispy and couldn't crunch the crisp out. A little will go a long way! Too sticky for me.

Yuck. This product just made my hair really greasy and stringy looking. Nowhere near enough hold; my curls were limp and I lost all definition by the end of the day.

Defined my 4a curls well. Definitely as keeper but not the HG. My hair's not as shiny as I'd like but that's OK. The strong hold formula didn't hold as strong as I expected either, but I don't need much hold. A little goes a long way. Would buy again.

I really like this gel. I do get a little more frizz then I would like. I just add awe inspriling spray to it.

I really wanted to like this because it smells nice and has relatively healthy ingredients. However, the only definition it provided was when I applied enough to make my hair sticky and stringy. It didn't do anything for frizz.
