the product works well. it detangles and softens but it can get pricey. I use a good amount of it every day.
This has a ton of silicones which I don't normally use for my fine 3c/4a/4b hair (oi vay) but this polar vortex had it in for me, so I really had to do something to help my hair; this has helped, I feel you don't need that much, just a few small scoops to coat your hair and then detangle and rinse. I wouldn't use this all the time, or even in the summer because silicones don't agree with me during the hot months, but definitely not bad if you're trying to help tame frizzy/ parched hair and you feel that very natural recipes/ oils (avocado, yogurt, etc) aren't really doing the trick.
This product is NOT protein free. Not good for hair with low porosity, or protein sensitive. It's heavy and will cause heavy build up. My daughter's fine 3C curls are much better hydrated, softer and overall healthier after I realized the havoc this product was causing her hair. I do Not recommend if your hair is like my daughter's, however if you have fine hair with medium to high porosity and no protein sensitivity than this product might do a lot for you.
I was so thrilled to finally get my hands of the largest container I could find at my Local Beauty supply for 49.99 this came HIGHY RECOMMENDED by Phillyzjampoet (YouTube) who Raved and said this is all she uses on her hair, well quite naturally I would never second guess her or even the Major Brand Mixed Chicks who are natural Curlies ..never would I ever check the ingredients never ... Well' after leaving my beauty supply at a Red Light thought I'd take a quick peep at the ingredients to see how well this conditioner is since its sold at all Major Target stores as well ... OMG I almost fainted when my eyes zoomed at the last ingredient SODIUM CHLORIDE ..this is the very ingredient I always avoid and according to www.tightlycurly.com this is to be Avoided !! Read on for a full description as yes I'm stuck with this since I'm unable to get a refund due to the stores return Policy .. Salt Avoid (Such as Sodium Chloride or Potassium Chloride). Corrosive. Used as a cheap thickener or to keep product from separating. Can rough up cuticle and make hair dried out and brittle [ Begoun (Hair) pg 304]. See also: Salts Source(s): Begoun Salts (aka Ionic compounds) Okay Many of the ingredients I look up call themselves "salts" of another ingredient. Now, I don't like to see the Sodium chloride type of salt in any product that I'm going to let stay in my hair for a while. But I also wanted to put in a more technical definition for those ingredients that were "salts of" something else, for those of you who want more information about what exactly that is. So I pulled out my old Chemistry text book and refreshed my memory: Ions are particles with an electrical charge. An ionic compound in it's simplest form is often one positively charged ion, and one negatively charge ion held together by the attraction of their charges. Salts are basically simple combinations of ions that are electrically balanced, so they are neutral when combined. For example, Sodium chloride is an ionic compound because it is made of Sodium (which is positive) and Chloride (which is negative), and it is also a salt, because it is neutral when put together [Chemistry: THe Molecular Science by Olmsted & Williams (2nd ed.) pgs 64-66]. I've learned my lesson to always read the ingredients and never take anyone's word especially when it comes to my Natural hair !
Love this stuff...recently bought the big bottle because me and my mom will continue to use this for a long time..unless we come across something that's just as good but cheaper. I think it is worth the price though. Best used on soaking wet hair if trying to detangle well at least for me and my hair type is 3c/4a. Def a HG product.
This conditioner leaves your hair smelling nice and adds shine to curls. However it doesn't define curls and leaves A TON of build-up that's really hard to remove. If you're going to buy it, use it sparingly so your scalp doesn't cake with dandruff and grossness. Wouldn't recommend--not purchasing again.
Just found a staple deep conditioner. This product felt good on my hair, smelled really nice and had my curls popping. Mixed Chicks is definitely a keeper.
I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS DEEP COBDITIONER!!! I have type 4a hair and for the longest I have been looking for a conditioner that was a thick heavy cream, was amazing at detangling, added mosture to my hair and left my hair feeling great. I have been using this for one month and it meets all of my hair needs. I have been natural for 4 months and this is by far the best conditioner for me. This is a keeper and I highly recommend it to all 4a's out there
Love this DC it smells amazing and leaves my hair super soft. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is because I don't see any long term improvement as far and repairing my hair etc.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this conditioner!! It smells amazing and clean, it makes my hair feel so soft, and it detangles my hair almost instantaneously! I wish I felt the same way about Mixed Chicks Leave-in Conditioner. I also use this on my co-washiing days and my curls love it!
This is my must have conditioner. I use it as a regular conditioner and add essential oils when I deep condition. In the shower, it starts detangling the minute it comes in contact with my hair. I can finger detangle without any trouble. The smell is pleasant and soft. It reliably and without fail leaves my hair soft, shiny and healthy. LOVE!
This is the best deep conditioner I have ever used. I was a little worried about the fact that there is only 8oz in the jar. I have very thick, collarbone length hair. I only had to use a little bit of this. It was thick, spread easily, and melted my tangles. I left it on for an hour & rinsed with cool water. It restored the moisture, my curls were springy, without that filmy/greasy feelings.
Hair type: mixed, 3C/4A. Liked the Mixed Chicks line a lot at first, but have since moved on. This is good as a regular conditioner or even a co-wash. It's a decent detangler, but maybe too thick, IMHO. Kinky Curly Knot Today is definitely much better. In general, the Mixed Chicks line left my hair overburdened/heavy with product.
Im 22 years old and I've been using a straightener for the past 6-7 years. My hair was completely damaged, i mean damaged to the point that i had no curls left, they were barely wavy and basically dead. My hair was down to my back and i decided to do a total transformation, after all I had no curls left and I knew i had to start all over again. Before my haircut i did some research online on the best shampoos and conditioners to restore my curls... A friend of mine suggested Mixed Chicks so i decided to give it a try. i loved it!! I first shampooed my hair with Mixed Chicks sulfate free shampoo, then i used the Mixed Chicks deep conditioner .. I left it for an hour because i just got a new haircut and i wanted my curls to lock in the moisture. Once i rinsed out the conditioner it was like I had brand new hair! it was soft, the curls were super defined, not heavy at all. It was great. This products really locks in moisture. Depending on how damage your hair is you should deep condition 10-20 (just depends on your hair) you can even go up to 30 min
This was definitely more like a daily conditioner than a deep conditioner. I had to use a lot of this in order to detangle my hair (especially since the mixed chicks shampoo left my hair more tangled than before). The product seemed to leave my hair softer for the first two weeks, but with prolonged use I stopped seeing these results. My hair became so knotted with this conditioner in the shower that I couldn't even rake my fingers through it. I bought into all the hype on the website and thought that this line was the missing link for my mixed hair, I couldn't be more disappointed. Maybe this works for some, but I will not purchase again.
Its a nice deep conditioner but for some reason I feel like i can find a better deep conditioner for the same price or cheaper. It wasnt great, it was just ok. It reminds me of TBS (The Body Shop) Honey REGULAR Conditioner. The one that was discontinued and was replaced w/ the Rainforest Collection,
I don't normally write reviews but I had to about this product. So for the money this product was NOT worth it, Aussie's 3-minute miracle deep conditioner for $4 works better than this. I have a 4b curl pattern and my hair was extremely dry after using this. I had to do another deep conditioner the next day to reverse this bad treatment. I thought maybe I should give it a couple tries to see if maybe it was that one time. I tried this product on 4 different occasions AND left it in for 45 mins each time and received the same results. I would not recommend this product for those with my curl pattern. Lastly, the smell is not appealing.
This conditioner is great. I use it like a regular conditioner every time I co-wash my hair. It has AMAZING SLIP. Makes my hair really soft and easy to comb. I find it works best when I rake the conditioner through my hair and let ti sit. if my hair is too tangly I add the conditioner and let it sit...then comb it. Love this!
I was skeptical to try this product after reading mixed reviews but I'm happy I did. This conditioner is truly moisturizing and detangling for my 3b/3c hair. I just wish it had protein.
Honestly, I was super excited to try this product and was truly disappointed. I used it as a daily conditioner instead of a deep treatment. I had to use so much just to feel any difference in my hair. I will not be purchasing this product again
Full disclosure: I'm a guy with neck-length, fine, type 1 hair, so this product isn't targeted to me, but I've been using this conditioner for about a year and I really love it. The smell is pleasant, the conditioner doesn't weigh my hair down or make my hair look greasy, and it seems to spread evenly so I don't have to use a lot to get results. Only complaint: I wish it came in a bottle instead of the jar.
I felt like this just sat on my hair>>>next!!!! Back to MYHC olive you or JC deep treatment :)
This has worked the best on my hair as a co-wash. Even though it says deep conditioner it is an everyday conditioner (I emailed the company about it) this is why they only have this and the leave-in. In the shower my hair felt amazing and had great slip. It was so easy to detangle. Once I got out of the shower before adding the leave-in I could already see the difference in my hair. With the leave in and then styling I got 2nd and 3rd day hair with minimal frizz Mixed Chicks has found a lifelong customer
It smells ok but I ended up using the whole jar the first time using it. It left my hair just ok...I kind of expected more from the brand but it left alot to be desired. i would not repurchase.
I absolutely love this! My hair can be very tangled but this works! One side when wet feel like matted dog fur lol but then I add this and presto!
I actually like this DC. It smells nice and leaves my hair really soft and manageable. I don't think it does much to repair it, but it was decent.
Love this, HG. Detangles pretty much by itself, very little is needed, leaves hair unbelievably soft, like silk. I feel like I don't even need a leave in afterwards.
I LOVE THIS PRODUCT, but I'm not sure if I am in love with the results or the smell. This product does exactly what it says it is going to do. I see a major change (good change) in my hair since I've been using it. I definitely will buy again. I will say it is moisturizing but once I wash it out of my hair I do feel as if it could be more moisturized.
Doesn't work. It's less moisturizing than the Mixed Chicks Leave-in. By the way I used like a quarter of the jar when I put this stuff in, so I know it was the product that wasn't moisturizing and not me not using enough.
This is a great conditioner. I have used it both after a gentle shampoo and on it's own as a co wash. It feels great, smells good, and my hair really likes it. Leaves it soft and feeling replenished and somehow more 'whole'. It's a good feeling. I will eventually try more mixed chicks products.
Love it , I have 3a/3b hair and this the best product so far. makes my hair soft and curly. You need to really watch the video and apply properly to get the best result.
I simply cannot do without this product! I've been using Mixed Chicks conditioner for over a year. I ran out once, tried different products, and immediately came back to MC because I have yet to find another conditioner that moisteurizes so well and leaves my curls so soft and touchable. This product also makes combing and detangling a breeze. (I have very thick 3c / 4a hair and a use a denman-like brush for detangling.) I highly recommend this product.
This is my favorite of the Mixed Chicks line. Thick & hydrating (which you need after the shampoo dries out your hair).
I really liked this conditioner. My hair was super soft and I like the smell. This does not get five stars, however, because it's sold in health food and all-natural stores but it is NOT all natural. (e.g. silicones + other things I couldn't pronounce). I got good results; I just felt a bit cheated because it's in the hippie store but has many of the same ingredients as the conditioner in the drugstore.
I am a 3b/3c. This came so highly recommended that I got the big bottle of it. The product is so thick that it doesn't come out of the pump. Not only that, it doesn't do anything for my hair. Definitely regret spending $50+ on this. What a waste of money.
I have to say I love this product and everything about MIxed Chicks it makes my hair curlier.
This product did nothing to condition my hair deeply like it said it would, smells great tho. A little too watery for my taste, i like thicker conditoners. I kind of used it as a day time conditioner or Co-wash til it ran out. It's def not a deep conditoner tho. I had to use another conditioner on top of it.
This product didn't do much for me, I didn't notice anything special at all. I had to follow up with the deep conditioner I normally use.
didnt work at all on my 11 years old hair. in my opinion a waste of my money. my daughter is bi racial with dry, frizzy curly hair.
im a mixture of all the 3's and 4a and i have not found anything better...my hair loves this stuff i tried all the other products that were most common oils for deep conditioning, the shea moisture line and by far i love this product
Love this product... I only use once a week as a deep conditioner. Definately not a conditioner for everyone, but it's great for me...
This product has both alcohol and silicone. I wish I would have read the label more carefully before applying.
Wonderful product. I had a sample size and was able to apply it all throughout my very curly/kinky hair. My hair was soft and easy to manage for 2 weeks.
It was ok on my 4a/b hair. It detangled pretty well. I must add that I heated some olive oil to use with and sat under a dryer for 15 minutes to get a DC. I wasnt confident that I would without it.
For me, this product wasn't a deep conditioner, it was more of conditioner. I left it on for a while (45-60 with a plastic cap) and it just soften my hair without penetrating. Its okay, definitely not a 5/5.
The deep conditioner left my hair soft and helped to define my curls. However, it didn't have enough slippage for my preference.
It's a good dep con. I did however take away two points, one for the fact that I have to use too much on my hair (which is not thick by any stretch of the imagination) and one for the smell (gag).
Silicones, schmilicones. This conditioner leaves me (3b) with awesome curls. I don't care for the smell, but I keep coming back to this conditioner because it rocks - defined, shiny, smooth curls every time I use it! And the price is right too.
Liked the smell, but conditioner was a little pricey when it does what some of the higher end drug store lines do. Did leave my hair soft, which was much need after using the oil-stripping shampoo in this line (I rated the shampoo and leave-in each at a 2). Will not be purchasing any products from this line again.
Really love this conditioner because it moisturizes your hair very well and defines the curls to the max. Was a bit disappointed when my stylist pointed out to me that this product was filled with silicone so I don't use it anymore.
seeing as i didnt really love their leave in conditioner..i was afraid to use it..but after my first use, it made my hair soft and moisturized..it smells good also...
Meh, I am not happy about the level of silicone in this conditioner. It is thick & rich & does detangle my wet hair well but when I rinse it out I can still feel the amodimethicone coating my hair. (I have 2b caucasian hair, chemical-processed & damaged.) After air-drying, my hair feels only slightly softer & the frizz level remains the same, requiring products for frizz control. Does not enhance or encourage curl formation. Was worth a try but wouldn't buy this conditioner again. I'm looking for 'cone-free haircare.
I did not like this product at all. Did nothing for my hair :( Shame as I have been wanting to try it for ages.
Amazing product. Leaves my hair incredibly soft and shiny, not to mention it DETANGLES SO WELL. Also, its moisturizing abilities are fantastic. The only drawback is that I have to use lots of it in order to feel the effects on my hair. Other than that, I love this deep conditioner!
I absolutelt LUV this product! It makes my hair so soft and detangled and it smells sooooooo GOOD ! It also defines my curls and makes them springy. This is probably my most used product ever :)
This conditioner is amazing!!! It work wonderfully for detangling. The come just went right through my hair. Better than anything i've tried. Amazing slip!!!
Love this stuff too. My 3b/3c hair just lapped this stuff up. I did use quite a bit of it but it works so well. Highly recommend.
I love this conditioner, it's my favorite because my hair is so easily detangled with it and it leaves my hair smooth and manageable.
Since my hair is so dry, I decided to try out Mixed Chicks. It made my hair very soft and de-frizzafied. :P I used it with the Shampoo and the Leave in conditioner. It is very good, but for the price eh... i'll just keep looking for a cheaper alternative. But over all this product is great and I would recomend it and the Leave in conditioner to a friend.
This is my favorite product so far. It allows me to brush my hair in the shower with the conditioner in like no other. The brush just goes right through my hair and you don't need that much product. And the smell is yummy too!!! I just wish it came in a bigger container.
This conditioner is great. It has a fantastic scent like all the other Mixed Chciks products, and then it made my hair feel to soft and easy to detangle.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE mixed chicks!! I have never found a product that works wonders on my hair. my hair is sooo curly and bouncy and SOFT unbelievable purchase. my only complaint is that I wish I could of had mixed chicks when I was a kid
I had used this before but wanted to try other things. I decided to try this again and the results are great. This really conditions well. My hair is so soft and I think my hair needs the silicones when the humidity is high. I use this with the leave-in conditioner and it controls my curls great. It has been in the 90's this week and no frizz. Also, you can't beat the price. I don't need a lot because it is so concentrated.
This Conditioner is great! It detangles and hydrates your hair very well. It added great shine and definition to my curls.
This Conditioner is great! It detangles and hydrates your hair very well. It added great shine and definition to my curls.
Very hydrating without weighing my hair down. Defiantly improved the condition of my hair over time
I have 3b hair. I'm mixed with puerto rican, cherokee indian, and jamaican. my hair is very curly and its hard to find good products. ethnic products only tangle my hair so finding a product smooth enough to comb through is hard. I love mixed chicks deep conditioner it really smells good and does what it says it does.
Love, love, love this stuff! One of the best conditioners that I have ever used. My hair felt soft, managable and healthy feeling not to mention it was shiny and FRIZZ free. I can't say enough about this stuff. Very moisturizing fore my 2b/3a hair.
This is my fifth time using the product. The first three times were terrible! It was terrible because Isopropyl Alcohol was in the Deep Conditioner. After it was removed, I reluctantly tried it. I'm glad I did because the Deep Conditioner made my hair soft! Removing the Isopropyl Alcohol made a big difference for my hair.
I use this as a daily conditioner and it is awesome...my favorite at the moment actually. My hair is soft and moisturized, and it doesn't weigh it down or feel coated when i leave some in.!!!!!
It's the first time that I use a deep conditioner that really detangles and moisturizes. Great Smell. Nevertheless, I am a bit deceived that it contains alcohol.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE MIXED CHICKS....BEING ITALIAN AND AFRICAN AMERICAN I WAS SO CONFUSED AS TO WAT HAIR PRODUCTS WOULD REALLY WORK FOR ME. THIS DEF. GIVES ME VOLUME, SHINE, SOFT DEFINED CURLS AND STILL LOOKS GREAT IN HUMID WEATHER. I RECOMMEND EVERYONE GO TO THEIR WEBSITE MIXEDCHICKS.NET AND GET THE 3 IN 1 DEAL. U CAN ALSO BUY TEE SHIRTS. MY FAV IS THE "TIRED OF DEFINING YOUR RACE INSTEAD OF UR CURLS?" SHIRT. SO CUTE.
Wow this is by far my favorite D/T ever, never go with out this!!! It leaves my hair feeling super soft and hydrated. Defenetly worth the price. I would reccomend using it 3-4xs a week.
I love this conditioner and I don't need a lot to get good results. I only wish it were in a bottle instead of a jar so it would be easier to use in the shower. It's kind of hard to put the lid back on while showering. It doesn't say how long to leave it in, but I only leave it in a minute or, at the most, 3 minutes and it looks great. It works really well with the Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner, which, in my opinion, is the best styling conditioner on the market and I have tried a lot of them. I love these products because they last and I'm not trying new things and wasting my money anymore on things that don't work. Thank God for Mixed Chicks!!!!I wish this had been around when I was a young Mixed Chick!!!!!
I used this once and I've fallen in love. Very moisturizing, the smell is delicious and a little goes a long way.
This product is amazing!!!! I have used it for a month now and my hair has never looked better. I have used this to just get the knots out when I wash, a few-minute quick conditioner, and I have left it in for a few hours for a very deep condition. It just rocks. The best part is that for some reason my hair responds so well I can get a really good second day--even after the gym. This product makes my hair soft, without losing the curl, enhances the shine, and gives me an option for second day hair. WOW!!!!
I liked the shampoo, it foams up alot while washing my hair and gives moisture, but what I didn't liek is that it contains Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (chemical that makes shampoo foam.. but also strips natural oils from your hair) and it seems to help remove builup which is probably why - it contains that detergent. But at least the Mixed Chicks Conditioner replinishes the moisture. I wouldnt buy again because of the sulfates, only a true curly-girl knows to stay away from sulfates!
Oh my god this made my hair feel so hydrated and softening in the shower and I was able to comb and detangle my curls in the shower with this.It provides good slip for very tangly hair and is VERY moisturizing. I love this
I absolutely love it! I only need to use it 1-2x/week for best results. My only complaint is that it does not specify how long the product is to be applied. You'd have to use your best guess. I leave mine for 15 minutes.
LOVED this conditioner as well!! Great conditioning and smoothing. Perfect prep for the Leave-In. It's a keeper!! :-)
I LOVE this stuff!!! Have only used a sample and now I'm hooked! It's SOOO moisturizing and gives my curls a lot of shine... ever since I have been using Mixed-Chicks' products, my hair has been wonderful: silky, soft, easy to syle, light, voluminous, healthy, ETC. GREAT product!!
Ingredient Attributes: moisture, detangling, anti-humectant
