During the very few times that I actually used this towel, I thought it was just simply okay. It doesn't really wow me, which is why, I no longer use it.
In the past I used a micro fiber towel. I heard about the curl ease towel and decided to give it a try. I really like it. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because it doesn't absorb as much water as the micro fiber one. I will keep using it though...it does not seem to cause as much frizz as the other one.
Yes, this is just a long piece of cotton, more "canvasy" feeling than t-shirt towels like Curls like Us. However surprisingly absorbant. Nice and long. I know you could plop somehow with this, but it would take some experimenting. Nice hang up loop or you could I'm certain figure out how to use that for tucking in excess in plopping. For me, not as handy or useful for scrunching as most other towels but the bonus is definitely it's length. (I would definitely toss in with some woollite before first use.)
My favorite thing about this product is that it's big enough for my long hair. After gently drying my hair I like to put this over my shoulders so that my shirt doesn't get wet while I add my leave-in and styling products. Must have product.
I used to just use a regular towel, but after using this one, I've started to notice a lot less breakage, which in turn means less frizz. I was skeptical of the material at first, because it's not your traditional towel, but it sure does work!
This is my favorite towel ever! I take it everywhere - it's amazing. Number one, it's the perfect size - I can scrunch my hair + wrap it up in a turban style. I use it everyday and have for years now. It has lasted for 3 years - looks like new. My hair is healthier - shinier - and less frizzy - thank you Curl-Ease Towel!
4a / 4b hair. I've been natural for 4+ years. I really like this towel! The texture is weird - sort of rough. I've used this multiple times, especially when I am in a rush. I think for the most part, I like how my hair looks after it. Curls are separated, hair is not frizzy (usually), and is helpful. Of course, nothing beats air drying, but it is helpful. I think I may take this with me when I traveling since it is compact and easy to use! You can wrap it around your head like a regular towel and in the back there is a little insert where you can put the end to hold the shape.
I only have a few complaints of this towel. First, I used it w/o washing it first (like the directions say to do) and I did not like the results at all, along with the oilve oil gel. So thinking I did not like the towel, I just tried 2 white t-shirts and loved the result. Then I washed the towel and got the same results as with the 2 t=shirts together. I wish the towel was thicker, but all in all I do like it. Only reason the 4 stars.
I will never again use regular towels after using this one. I don't have to worry about my lovely little curls getting caught in towel fuzz or vice versa. I do wish the towel was a bit thicker though, had it been, I would have definitely given it a five. I have already recommended this product to several curly friends and will continue to use it.
I have 3A type hair - fine, but thick/medium. I LOVE this towel. Once product has been applied to my hair I lower my hair onto this towel and then gently wrap it up in a turban. It encourages curl and gives me more body. The key is to not leave it in your hair for too long. If you do too much moisture gets absorbed and you get frizz. I find about 10 minutes on my hair is ideal. I already own too...now I want the chocolate brown color!
Just say NO. A towel will work better. It does make a great makeup bib over your clothes though.
I was really excited to receive my curl-ease towel in the post and ripped open the package to find....what reminded me of a baby- bed sheet ! I just had this feeling....but pushed all negativity aside and decided to try it out first before making any early assumptions, even if it was really thin and strange-looking. Unfortunately, the bad vibes were right aargh I hate it when that happens !!! I could not get the thing on to start with as shown on the video and eventually just used it to scrunch. It was soaking in no time and my curls were nowhere near dry. Not to be daunted easily I rose up to the challenge and tried again the next day, after a while I managed to get the thing into a sort of lob-sided turban and waited 25 mins. Took it off, hair still quite damp so was not sure to do then, air dry ? It Did no really cure any frizz at all either, and I still looked like I had been dragged through a bush backwards! I am so disappointed in this towel as I had really hoped it would put me out of frizz-misery! I prefer the micro-fiber turban I picked up cheap somewhere as it also does not dry my hair in half the time either, but quicker than the curl-ease towel does. I am coming to the awful realization now that I must accept the only way that really helps my curls is either putting in product when hair is soaking wet and leaving it to air dry (like 3-4 hours !!) or the easiest way out, diffusing until nearly dry then use my heated curling- brush. This is being honest (to myself) the only way to get my hair done nicely and the quickest! Sorry, I can't make this review any better than it is, and I would have loved it to work for me.
It's a nice big towel, and good if microfiber wicks away too much moisture. But I still have trouble wrapping it, even after watched a video on the product's website twice. It may be better for blotting.
I received this towel for Christmas (even though I asked for a different towel). I received the white one, and I agree with the other reviewer that it seems like cheesecloth. This towel isn't very absorbent, certainly not at all compared to a microfiber towel. The photo of the product and the instructions recommend using this as a turban, which is a big no-no for curly hair. While I don't plop/plunk, I did try it once to see if it would be a good towel for it and it is. But again, it doesn't really absorb. What I did find it worked for was for scrunching while diffusing. I found it really helped to keep the curl pattern from frizzing. Overall I would not recommend this towel because of the lack of absorbency.
I use this towel right out of the shower after I put a leave-in conditioner in my hair. My hair is really wet and this towel helps to absorb the moisture and not the conditioner. I leave it on for about 5 minutes and then take it off and add my other styling products. Love the new chocolate brown color.
It doesn't replace a diffuser, as the packaging claims, but it's a nice big non-terry towel that cuts my drying time and keeps my hair out of the way while I get dressed. Works for me. The pink is very bright, so go with brown or white if you want subtle (I don't mind bright, but it's something to be aware of). Good for plopping; it's long and rectangular, so easy to tie in the back. I might pick up another one soon, because I use this one daily.
I have two of these towels. I love one of them as it is a bit thicker than the second purchase. The first one is the perfect material doesn't frizz my hair and soaks up the excess water in my hair very well and works great for plopping and setting my curls. The second one I purchased was like cheese cloth material, very thin and doesn't do the job like my first purchase. I wish Curl-Ease was consistent with the material as I see some of the towels are really thin. Overall it works well if you are lucky enough to get the thicker one in the mail. I love the large size of these towels but I find that my flour sacks work just as good if not better and they are consistent in how they are made and way cheaper! I can get 10 for the price of one Curl-Ease!!
The best for plopping! I've tried other towels made for curls but I like this one the best. There is plenty of fabric to work with and it wicks water well without causing frizz.
This has certainly made a difference for me. I don't wear it as long as it is recommended, but still get a benefit from it.
It is a good idea, but I actually get better results by using a big piece of an old well worn bed sheet which has even less texture and creates even less frizz (and it does not cost $20 bucks)
This is such a versatile towel. I use it to remove excess water from my hair. I drape it over my shoulders to protect my shirt while the styling product in my hair dries. And I use it to scrunch whatever crunch without creating frizz. However, I don't plop/plunk, so I have no idea how it works for that.
I've been using this towel for the past year and it's great. Most times I use it after I put in my hair products on soaking wet hair. If I can't find it, I'll use a plain t-shirt to dry my hair, but I will never go back to using a regular towel!
This towel is a gd send! No more drips down my back - no more frizz - cut my drying time in LESS then half.... What more can I say?? I never dreamt something so simple could make such a significant difference in my curly hair!!
I love this thing! I had been using a MF towel, but still getting some frizz and gel sticking to the towel. With the CurlEase, I get no frizz and product doesn't stick much. If I wash every day or every other day, I can get two weeks between washings with this. It is LARGE, so good for my hair which is pretty long when wet. It stays in place well. I have good curl formation, and the towel does not contribute to frizz for me. Yes, I do feel it's pricey for what it is. One could sew together some single fold daipers and get the same thing. But, I'm lazy, lol. It was worth it to me and paid for itself in the long term. It is sturdy and has worn well.
I was pretty disappointed with this product. I found it to be less effective than a regular towel. It took longer to dry my hair than I expected--my shoulder length curls were still pretty wet after 20 minutes. And I'm not sure what it was supposed to do to shape the curls, but I saw no evidence of anything. I tried it a 2nd time--doubling over the extremely thin cheese-cloth like towel and had no better results. I have better results after 5 minutes with a regular towel and careful scrunching (not rubbing) to get my hair dry.
Waste of money. I tried it and found that it made my frizz worse (which I suspected it might do). When you have curly dry hair you learn early on that you get less frizz and the chance of a product working better when you're hair is soaking wet. When you're hair is already beginning to dry and you don't wet it down again, the product lays on top of the hair without truly penetrating it and you get more frizz. If your hair is wet, the product adheres to the strands better and coats things better. I should have known better but I was curious about it and bought it. I use a regular towel and carefully put it up in a turban without moving it around at all for about 5 minutes. As long as you do not muss your hair with the towel, you'll be fine with a regular one. Also it looked like an extra large dinner napkin to me. Expensive for something that flimsy looking. I wanted to like this but there's my honest take on it for whatever it's worth.
