When I first tried it, I wasn't sure if it would work that well but it is now one of my favorite products. It defines my curls while keeping the feeling moisturized. It smells amazing! And it's at a great price.

My curl type: Mostly 3c, but waves and kinks in some places, and looser curls in other places. I had tried this right after my BC as just a plain leave in, but I got dry hair with crunch. Recommended it to a friend with type 3 curls, she got AMAZING results. Her hair is not as thick as mine is. The other day, I decided to use it for a co-wash, and BINGO. Detangled beautifully, and absorbed into my hair almost immediately (I was cowashing in the shower and since my hair shaft was open because of the warm water, I think that's the reason for the awesome results). I also tried it as a DC, mixed it with extra virgin olive oil (it mixes BEAUTIFULLY. Trick: Use an egg whisk to get it to mix in completely) and left it on my hair with a plastic cap and microfiber towel...so defined and softened my curls! Took the cap off, air dried, and lo and behold, i had slinkies (what i call well defined curls) soft, and could pull and tug and it would bounce right back. So now, I have some mixed in with the Cantu cream shampoo for washing, and my mixture with the EVOO for when I'm out of the shower. When the water in my hair cools down the product sinks in and camps out, and makes my hair soft but frizz free and controlled, which is what I need right now since it's so very short. Conclusion: by itself, it can "sit" on your hair, but in the shower for me, it sinks right in and softens. Then out of the shower, used as a leave in mixed with EVOO and combed through gently with a three row straightening comb....let air dry....soft, stays in place. Waiting for my hair to grow long enough to BOUNCE!

I do like the product :however, i do not like it for my hair. It smells good and it left my hair feeling moisturized. My issue is that this product does not define your curls at all and for me that is an issue because i liked my curls defined just a little. I would rate the product at least a four if I could use gel but you cannot use gel at all because it leaves a nasty, white residue. Like i said, good product if you don't like your curls defined but its not for me.

This product does wonders for my hair. Its just the right weight for a cream leave in conditioner. I can use it for any style I desire( i.e. bantu knot -out, twist out, braid out) and know my hair will come out defined and highly moisturized. The only negative thing about this product is that I have to use it by itself, with no other leave-ins or gels. If I don't it will cause white residue. However, there is really no need to use other products when using cantu leave-in. With other leave in conditioners I find myself having to use the LOC Method. Liquid (water or liquid leave-in) Oil and a Cream based product.

This is the best leave in conditioner i have EVER tried, i used cream of nature leave in but it made my hair sticky, that product was my staple (used a total of 3 8.5 oz bottles) and they go by fast, the cantu shea butter has a calm coconut smell and i only need a little to moisturize i've had it for a month and only used maybe a centimeter layer of it! it is gonna last me a while but im gonna stock up on then it started at being 5 dollars now its 7! this product makes my hair shiny and does help repair heat damage, i had some heat damage, but this product cleared most of it up ! this is probably one of the best purchases i've ever made! :)

I used this product religiously, nearly everyday, about four months ago and I loved it but I started to notice that my hair was beginning to reject the product. It began to just sit on top of the hair, which sucks. It smells nice and it does what it says it will do, but I don't think this product was meant for long term use on my hair. I have products that I used everyday (and still do) that didn't have that "sitting on the hair" issue that this product did. Also, I am the type that mixes products and this product isn't easy to mix with certain stylers and butters. Alone, it does ok as a styler but my hair sucks up moisture like nobody's business so this alone as a styler wouldn't do the trick and the horrible flaking that occurred when mixed with other products was a definite minus in my book. I believe the only reason I was able to use the product for so long was because I was using that and only that, but obviously my hair needed more. I do sitll use the product now, but I dilute it with water and use it as a spray on leave-in when I'm wearing my hair in yarn braids, kinky twists, etc.

I first began this LIC while transitioning in 2008. It worked great on my hair and made it soft and more manageable because I was having a hard time combing/styling my different textures of hair. I wore my hair in twist sets mostly because of this issue. When my hair grew out and I was completely natural I began to notice that my hair was becoming gray and was not as shiny. This product was building up on my hair and a clafiying shampoo was the only way to resolve this issue. I only like to shampoo my hair once every 2 months with co-washes weekly. I have since discontinued the use of this product. It was good for me when I was transitioning, that is why it still gets 4 curls. I used to swear by it. My hair has changed therefore I've changed products.

I just bought this yesterday and I really really like this. I used it as a leave-in conditioner. It smells really good, like the palmers coconut oil conditioning pak. It makes my curls pop without making it hard like the ecostyler gel. The only downside to this is I have to do a wash and go every day to make my hair look nice. With the ecostyler I can go about 3-4 days before I have to rinse my hair and start over. This product doesn't give me those "white balls" that everyone is talking about. maybe it's because I use coconut oil before I apply this? I recommend it.

I love this stuff. It makes my hair feel very soft and manageable. It's a great moisturizer, but it does not provide any hold, Your hair will be poofy when it dries if you don't use a styling product with it. I found that using a gel product like garnier fructis super hold works great with it and smells really good also.

I love love this product. It defines my 3C curly-kinky curls perfectly. I use it in conjunction with a leave in conditioner and Hawaiian Silky's 14n1. It smells good, is not greasy and can be used again without the need to rewash my hair. There is no flaking or white residue either. It's hard to believe something so perfect costs so little.

I really like this leave-in but I learned that you have to be careful with the application because it does create a massive amount of white residue. What I really like is that it leaves my hair feeling super soft and it surprisingly made my 3Cs look like 3Bs in the crown area. What I don't particularly care for is the white residue it leaves even if you just use a little. To remedy this I just spritz some water from my spray bottle, smooth it out then finger rake in my gel and let it air dry for my wash and go. Also I find that it's doesn't add much shine but you can definitely get some decent 2nd day hair with a little spritz of water and some additional shingling.

WOW, I have 3b/3c hair and I simply REFUSE to pay 15 bucks for a bottle of hair product. So when I picked this up, I was a bit skeptical of how well it wouldwork by the texture and strong smell. It worked miracles with my hair. My curls are generally fractal like with out much definition. This stuff defines them sooo well that my hair formed beautiful ringlets. Very conditioning and doesn't weigh your hair down. It also doesn't break the bank. All I'm saying is why pay more when you simply don't have to,

I came upon this wandering the hair aisle in CVS one day. It smelled great and looked like it may be good for my 3C/birracial hair, so I bought it. What a GREAT product! I couldn't believe how soft it made my hair! I use it as a leave-in conditioner and for deep conditioning. It makes it easy to style my curls anyway I would like. I can finger curl my curls, poof them out into a 'fro, whatever. And the price and size of the product is wonderful! Best "Holy Grail" product I've found so far.

I first used this product on relaxed hair and looking back I probably used way too much because it sat on top of my hair and left a white residue. But recently, since I began transitioning, I've used this as leave-in after my deep conditioner. It leaves my natural hair soft and even defines my curls but it does leave my relaxed ends soaking wet (again, I am a culprit of using too much conditioner). But I find that it works best when I leave it in over night under a shower cap so that I give the conditioner a greater chance of seeping into the shaft. This is definitely my favorite staple !

I've never written a review before, but I had to for this product because it is AMAZING. I love it so much that I have completely disregarded the fact that it's got silicones in it (Trimethylsilylamodimethicone). When I first tried it, I made the mistake of applying it on to my dry hair to see how it would work as a refresher. Unfortunately, it left my hair looking white because of its thick consistency. I then had to wash and clarify my hair, and I applied this on top of my regular leave-in conditioner to use as a styler, and then I followed up with a lightweight gel. I know this product is meant to be used alone, but I was skeptical because I have incredible frizz that I wanted to control. I must say, after drying, my hair was the softest, shiniest, and most defined it has EVER been (and least frizzy!). For the price you pay for the amount you get, this is definitely worth trying. It will be a staple product for me! Also, the scent is to die for. I literally felt the urge to scoop out some shea butter and eat it!

This product makes my hair really shiny and soft. Also, the smell is distinct, but it isn't that bad unlike a lot of products I've used before. This product really defines my curls; before using this I didn't have such pretty and defined coils, waves and curls, but now... OMG. The bad thing is I can't use it for wash and go, because the product SITS on my hair, it looks like I have a wad of white cream in my hair. Other than that, I really like it.

I'm a 4a and I started using this because I know that shea butter has amazing healing, softening and protecting properties. I like it, and I've pretty much used the whole jar, but it has left me wanting more because I dont really love the way my hair feels afterward. Not sticky, perse, but just...not exactly clean or something. I do use it in combination with some good essential oils to seal it in, though, and that feeling usually goes away and my hair is much softer and less thirsty than it was when I first started using it, less split ends and all that =) However, as pr blackboi said, it doesn't moisturize for long periods so daily or every other day application will probably be necessary :/ I haven't yet used it as a leave-in, though, with wet hair. I'd say try it!.. why not, it's hella cheap, lol, and it does in fact get the job done pretty satisfactorily!!

I love this leave-in cream conditioner. Its super moisturizing and it smells great which is a plus. I shampoo, condition, then apply this cream to my strands when I 2 strand twist my hair. It works great for a soft twist out. It doesn't cause that build up feeling that you think you'd get from it due to its thick consistency. And for the price you can't beat if for sure.

I have been transitioning for 3 months now and have been adamantly searching for a good leave in. I started my transition using Curls products however w/this economy and a toddler a girls gotta stay w/in a budget and I couldn't keep justifying spending $10 on Curls when I had heard so many good things about Cantu and you get twice as much product for half of what I was paying for Curls(and when I was relaxing I used their products anyway & still do on my son's hair mixed w/a litte evoo...recommended by his barber). Anyway, I have just added Cantu to my reggie about a week ago and so far so good. I like the smell and it makes my hair soft but the consistency did throw me off some bc it appears as thou it would be thicker like a cream but is actually more lotion like. I do not personally have the problem some ladies have been having w/the product build-up and I use it every evening as a leave-in :-) duh huh! and then seal w/my grapeseed oil & cover w/a silk scarf. I do this everyday until I wash, condit, etc. (depending on the week) and re-twist my hair once a week. I have 3c curls but as some are stating I really think this product along w/all others are a hit or miss for everyone. What works for me may not work for you (even if we have the same hair type...& why would it? We all lead different lifestyles food, exercise, medications, etc & all this effects how our bodies and hair react to things) so we shouldn't be surprised when everything does not work for all of us. You just need to keep searching and experimenting until you find the right products that work for your hair/lifestyle:-)!

Postives: It will leave your hair moisturized. Negatives: It left a weird film on my hair, a bunch of little white clumps and did not tame the frizz. I tried several different application methods but didn't like the results. I used the rest of the bottle because I didn't want to waste it. I ended up either mixing it with Eco Styler Gel or wearing it under it. Always had to re-wet my hair and rinse it out. It looks like a thick cream but is more like a lotion.

The product description promises a lot. I mean a lot of naturals suffer frizzy, tangled hair (well at least I do). The actual product itself is a different (let’s say interesting) consistency, it like creamy but different (I can’t find the word to explain it). The Leave In Conditioner also shares the same tropical fruit (coconut, I think) smell. Well to be honest I was pretty disappointed with the results on my hair. I didn’t feel it gave any definition to my curls and my hair wasn’t frizz free as the product claim it would be. It didn’t take long for my hair to feel dry. The product appeared to make no real difference to my hair and on top of that I couldn’t put gel on it because it would go white and weird [not cool]. There were a few good points about the product, I liked the smell I find also the product wasn’t sticky, gummy or greasy. Plus you do get quite a lot of the products almost 500ml for £5 which is great if the product works for you (from other review this works for other people). As I said before I was disappointed with the product, I truly felt I had wasted money on it. The Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream failed to most of the things that it promised to do on the tub and after I spent a fiver on it, I thought I was truly paying for quality. However, it has to be said sometimes a product is fantastic on other people’s hair and you’re not-so-fantastic, maybe it one of those hit or miss products. On the other hand I couldn’t recommend any one the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream with my experience on the product but like I said before each to their own.

I purchased this product years ago when I initially went natural and it worked on my dry hair. When I recently went natural I used it again for a moisturizer and when i went to do a cowash it left my hair with a lot of residue and in klumps to the point I had to end up washing my hair w/castile soap to get my hair back to normal. I would not say that I don't suggest it, but it just didn't work for me.

I have 3b curls and I use this product as a leave in with Kinky Curly Custard and it gives me the most amazing definition and softness. In the mornings I just put a little on to refresh my curls and it does a great job! A little goes a long way.

I bought this like a year ago & hated it.. but two of my friends recently have been raving about it so i retried it and like it! This takes a minute to figure out.. first, it does NOT mix with water based products AT ALL. It pretty much dosent mix with anything. I also find that its good for braidouts, dosent weigh my fine 3c hair down even though its so heavy, wierd LoL. It also smooths and holds hair well. When this product gets old the consistency changes, it is now like a thick cottage cheese & when I looked at a new one in Target the other day it was indeed a cream. Im not a fan of the smell, its too strong & smells too artificial, kind of a chemical after scent. I do like this on my curls, and for ponytails & buns. This is best as a one step product for a wash & go, because it can only be used by itself!

I can't decide how I feel about this product yet which is why I gave it 3 curls. I like it, but I just dont know that I love it..and I'm not sure what I like about it. I think its good for wash & go's but doesn't give my hair much shine. The smell is ok but I've certainly better (and worse). I definitely like that it doesn't weigh my hair down but I'm not sure that it provides much softness. I use it just before I'm putting braids in & sometimes before 2 strand twists as I like my hair to be somewhat protected while its resting and since I haven't been able to find anything else that I like, I've relied on this. I keep using it though because the price was great & I know one of these days, I'll find a reason to love it lol

I love this product. It makes my hair very soft and I also use it for wash and go's. It gives great curl definition, good for de-tangling, twisting, and other styles. With this product however you have to find the right products that work in conjunction or else it will look like you have residue in your hair. Most of the time I use this alone and if I need shine and moisture I use oils, not creams. This is a product that I have to have in my arsenal.

I really like this product. It gives my hair so much definition. While my hair is still wet I apply some evoo on first and then shingle the conditioner through. My hair looks and feels great. I'm also in love with the price =)

should NOT be used with another product, whether underneath or on top. (except for maybe an extremely watery conditioning mist) - it'll flake up. Not that great for wet hair, but it's ALL RIGHT on dry hair (whether blown out to twist it or just a small fro) It can get GREASY, so no need to apply this more than 2x a week MAX. If you style your hair constantly and can't imagine unstretched hair, this is a cheap alternative to a styling cream. if you're like me, and DON'T really touch your hair after washing/conditioning it...it really just sits on top of the hair.

I love this product because it defines my curls and make's my hair really soft. I'm new to the natural thing so its something quick and easy that I use. I also like the fact that it smells delicious, comes in large amount for a small price and it never dry out my scalp.

I use this product when my hair is wet and I let it air dry. The product makes my hair really soft. But I use it in addition to a defining cream. Cantu keeps my hair mosturized, soft and it helps detangle while the other product defines my curls. I recently tried the leave-in cream on my daughters(dry) hair after shampooing. It made it real soft. But once I blow-dried it --it bacame hard and stiff:( I wanna try to shampoo and conditioner. A co-worker said it works great. No complaints here!!! A jar last a really long time...

I really liked it, it helped define the curls in my twa and smelled great. plus you can't really beat the price. The only thing it was missing was a little bit of shine since it can dry a bit dull. Add your favorite oil on top and you're ready to go

I love this conditioner. My daughter has 3c hair and it works really well to keep it moist and seperate her curls. My hair is 3c/4a/4b (I know a lot of combos) and it works really well to keep it soft. I would not add it if I were wearing my hair straight because it is heavy. But it works reall well while curly.

First of all can I say that I love the price of this 16oz product!. I had been curly for awhile and been using alot of different curly creams with only a few success's. When family told me about this product I was skeptical. Why is it so cheap if it works so good?, Well I finally decided to reach deep for the 5 bucks;) and was happiily surprised to find it left my hair soft and my curls bouncy and feeling moisturized. Now it doesnt give me the curl definiton I get from curly creams that are more expensive, but for the price it works great for everyday wash and go styling and I use it as curling cream. So if your on a budget yor getting more than what your paying for.

I really like this product. When I asked my friends for an inexpensive conditioner to help put my hair into a puff, I had several people tell me about Cantu. It smells great. When I use it on my wet hair, it detangles and I am able to pull my hair back with no problem. When my hair is dry, I use a lot more to moisten my hair, but I am still able to slick it back into my puff. I have also used this on a twist out. I used about a palm-full and spread it all over my damp hair. My twists were soft and moisturized. This is a nice product if you are on a budget and have 4b hair.

This product has the consistency of a thicker version of cottage cheese. It spreads and pentetrates the hair quicker when it is wet or damp. However, because I don't wash my hair all the time, it does become sort of a fuss getting this stuff to penetrate my hair as quickly as I would like it to in the morning. Also, I did unfortunately find that this product gives my hair a fair amount of buildup which I don't care for. The best thing about this product is that it does add definition to the hair and it does offer a decent amount of moisturization to the hair. So, these are the only two reasons why I decided to rate this product a 2.
