I am giving this a 3 because I haven't used it for long. I am at the very beginning with transitioning my 3c hair and I use this product daily and so far my hair feels so soft and my heat damaged hair doesn't look that bad anymore. It actually seems like it is repairing the heat damage. But I love it so far and hopefully my hair still loves it in a few weeks
I bought this product along with the cantu curl activator at my local rite aid for a reasonable price. I had heard tons of raves about this product. However, this product was awful for my 3c back/front and 4a middle hair. My hair is currently twa length. I've tried this product a variety of ways with no avail. I've tried using this product in the LOC method, with oil applied before the leave in, and a concoction with cantu curl activator (as suggested). The results are always the same frizzy, unmoisturized hair, and this product leaves white balls in my hair. And yes i only use this product on freshly washed hair. It's a shame that this product didn't do for my hair as it has for others!
I wanted to love this product. I even bought 3 to stock up! But whenever I use it, my hair gets so frizzy and undefined! It's like an anti-moisturizer. I seriously don't know what it is about this product that messes with me so much. I thought maybe it was the silicones in it so I started cleansing with sulfates and deep conditioning in order to keep using it. But no, even on clean curls this stuff just makes my hair worse than when it started. Background on my hair type: naturally a 3C who has succumbed to creamy crack more times than I'd like to admit. (If you do go down that route I'd recommend Optimum Care Salon Collection Anti-Breakage No-Lye Relaxer System for a more texturized but not stick straight relaxer.) My goal is to not go back to that and embrace my natural texture. I just need to find a good moisturizing leave-in first! Cantu shea butter is definitely not it though.
I just started using a month ago. So far so great. I have 4b/4c hair. After I co-wash I put in the leave in conditioner. I also apply vitamin E oil in my hair with the leave in and I sit with a plastic bag over my head for a hour. I style it with Eco gel and my curls be so defined with my twists outs. My hair be soft! I don't experience any residue...
the only leave in conditioner I use after a cowash or a deep cleanse. It provides excellent moisture immediately which I need since my hair is bleached blonde. However I only gave it 4 stars because the moisture is not long lasting as I would have liked it to be.
This stuff is so great. I use it immediately after I get out of the shower and rake it in. I then dry my hair with a t shirt for a few minutes and then apply the cantu curling cream and then a basic gel. The two products work together so well and I find that my 3b hair is much better when I apply the leave in cream! My hair is soft and smells great! These products have made my hair have less frizz and the curls have been more defined without even doing finger twists.
My definite favorite of the Cantu line. I've used it on my weave and natural hair. It makes my hair soft, moisturized, and way more manageable. I've never had any problems with it and I even have my mother and sister using it. I swear by it.
my main staple , cheap , effective as a leave - in , conditioner , and a GREAT deep conditioner... i had heat damage on one curl and i wasn't effected by it but it stood straight up and one overnight use restored the curl
I've been using it for 2 years now it smelt amaziing and i love it but it doesn't mix well with my eco styling gel
I love it. It's thick enough to be use as a styler. It's a deep conditioner and a leave in. But I only use it as a leave in. It's non sitcky a have a moderate slip. My only issue is that it doesn't mix well with other product. The result of combining product is white residue. Tha'ts why I use it as a styler
I use this to refresh my twists and it works great for that, plus it smells amazinggg. But I used it multiple times as a leave in and it didn't work well because I felt like it broke up my curls and did not moisturize well.
I used this product as both a leave in and then as a deep conditioner per the recommendations of other reviewers. First of all, my hair is 2c/3a, fine, thin, medium porosity. As a leave in, it made my hair stiff and waxy with no definition. As a deep conditioner, it made my hair a flat, dull, poofy mess. I see most people who are happy with this product have 3/4 hair, and I do NOT recommend this for anyone who is a 2 or 3a. The price is fantastic, however, and it smells nice.
This product is a good styler and and moisturizer but this is not the only Leave in coditioning repair cream that Cantu has. The company has another leave in cream that was made for natural hair and I absolutely loved it! It is not as thick as this one, and it has slip for detangling unlike this one. The other Cantu leave in doesnt have the harsh ingredients that this one has.
I just recently cut my heat damage off and my hair was super dry from the braids I had previously. I used this product for a twist out and when I untwisted it, my hair was so SOFT! My curls are very defined and soft. The smell of this is amazing and this will definitely be one of my staple products.
I used to use this for twist outs after washing and conditioning. I stopped using it after I found better products for my hair, but it's great if you need a good, natural creamy leave-in that's not too expensive.
After deciding to go natural in August 2014, I needed product ideas to maintain, nourish and condition my hair so I went to YouTube for answers. After watching several videos I walked into CVS and purchased a jar. It doesn't disappoint at all. Pros: It smells great and it softens my hair making it more manageable and that's a plus. Cons: The Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioner does not give me much if any curl definition at all. Overall, my experience with using this product has been favorable.
Best curly hair product you can buy. I moisturize my hair daily with this product only and it's amazing.
This leave-in has been one of my favorites for a while. It leaves my curls super defined, moisturized, shiny, and lasts throughout the day. I don't have to use a lot to get my desired results. The coconut scent is always pleasant and not over-bearing, as well.
This product Is the best! My hair was badly damaged with split ends I was in need of a trim, but I had just gotten a trim a while ago. I started using this product and after about 3 weeks to a month, no split ends. I might find one or two, but they're all gone! Im so happy I didnt have to do the big chop! My hair used to grow very slowly but now its growing a lot faster! And it leaves my hair soo soft. This product really works! With fast result also!
This product worked so great for my hair! It left my hair shiny and moisturized but kind of weighed down. ______________________________________________________________________ This is how I applied the product: 1. I parted my hair down the middle and made four sections 2. I took the first section and dampened it with some water 3. Then I put my Cantu Shea Butter Leave in conditioning Repair Cream and, focusing on the ends applied it to my hair; DISCLAIMER: DO NOT APPLY TO MUCH TO YOUR SCALP TO AVOID BUILDUP FOCUS ON THE LENGTH OF YOUR HAIR 4. Then I twisted that section into a two strand twist and repeated that for the other 3 sections YOU CAN EATHER CHOOSE TO WASH YOUR HAIR AFTER THIS (LIKE I DID) OR LEAVE IT IN YOUR HAIR
I really wanted to love this product because it's so affordable and they give you a lot, but it left my hair SUPER DRY! OH.MY.GOD. I will not purchase again
I have 4a hair and this product is AMAZING!!! It leaves your hair soo moisturized and soft. it also smells great and the ingrediants are amazing
I was really hoping to like this product but it just didn't work for my 3b hair. It felt waxy when my hair dried and left white residue. Will not be buying again.
This was great for when I was transitioning, kept my hair moisturized for a while, but the build up became unbearable. Now as a natural the moisture doesn't last more than half a day, so it wasn't even worth the build up!
I'm on the fence with this product. My transitioning hair LOVED this stuff! Soft fluffy twists and for days and the bantu knot outs were to die for. BUT after I was completely natural I tried it 'knowing' that my hair would love it. I could actually hear my hair saying, 'Mayday Mayday!' as I was applying it but I kept going because I 'know' it works. A day or two later my hair felt the dryest it had ever felt. And I thought my hair was dry when I BCed! Needless to say I was heart broken. I might revisit this product next year to be sure my hair doesn't like it.
I used this leave-in for my mother and I hair. She uses tons while I just need a small amount. Only because I have a looser texture. This product was awesome and lasted a while. I will surely repurchase this. It is now one of my staple products.
I like this product, especially because it is so inexpensive. For it's price, it does an excellent job moisturizing your hair. However, if you use too much of this product it leaves a flaky white residue which I am not happy about. I use this as the LIC on wash day, but I do not recommend this as a leave-in for everyday styling as it builds up easily. The product does mention it can dually serve as a deep conditioner; in my experience, products that advertise as both leave-ins and deep conditioners seem to work more exclusively as deep conditioners because of residue issues. I have yet to use this product as a deep conditioner, but I predict it would work much better that way.
Amazing!! I never use Cantu products while I was transitioning, however, this summer something clicked in me (that & a YouTube video I watched lol) to go try the product out. It just so happened that Target had some hair sale so I bought this along with the curling cream and coconut spray. First things first, I love the price!! The products are also an A with my hair type (4B/4C). I always use this product after a co-wash or regular wash & it always leaves my hair smelling good as well as feeling nice and soft the next day when taking my twists out. I always seal it with either Olive oil or JBCO and it comes out great! Of course, there's a white reside, on damp hair, but as soon as I use the oil of choice & the curling cream, throw my satin scarf over it...it is completely gone the next day! I definitely recommend this product.
GREAT leave in and has been a staple of mine since transitioning days. It provides maximum moisture, great slip for detangling, and smells great. Make my coils show themselves and let's not forget the great price either. The only some may have is the consistency. It is pretty thick and creamy and will leave a residue that will go away eventually (using on damp hair, gone by morning). Definitely recommend!
I really, really wanted to like this, it's crazy affordable and you get so much product. At first, it was kinda nice and I used it after washing my hair. Eventually, though, it started to dry my hair out and it made my hair feel like straw. I'm a bit new to understanding my curls and their needs, but I think I may be protein sensitive, and looking at the ingredients this contains hydrolyzed collagen and hydrolyzed soy protein. For me this didn't work, but it may for you if you aren't protein sensitive.
I actually use this as a pre-poo treatment. I leave it in my hair for at least an hour, before I wash my hair. It works great for my hair that way. If I use it the regular way your supposed to use it, I get lots of buildup and it leaves a white film on my hair if I happen to use to much.
LOVEDDDDD IT AMAZING FOR 3B/3C HAIR CHECK OUT MY REVIEW ON IT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCziBABLwNw
I like this product when I first tried it out but then it doesn't work any more. I don't like the feeling that my hair has after using this product, which is something of a greasy feeling. I able to sort of style my hair with it but when mixed with other products, it really leaves a greasy feeling and leaves my hair weight down.
My mother bought this product and she really liked it and told me to give it a try. First off it did leave my hair feeling soft and moisturized but it completely left my hair feeling really weighed down making me unable to really style it, which was not good for me at all so I will not be using this again.
One of my HGs! Love this product. Very often, I use it alone for a twistout. Leaves my hair moisturized, tangle-free, and smelling great. Has pretty good definition as well. I enjoy using it with an oil, because I feel like it adds to the holding value of the product, but as stated, it works just as well by itself. I only use it on wet/damp hair, because I don't feel like it does as well on dry hair. The price is great, product is great, and it will last you a while.
it smells good but my hair doesn't stays moisturized for long and the product contains mineral oil and silicons
I absolutely ADORE this product. It is a very affordable price, for so much product. It is long lasting, and does just what it needs to. As a recovering product junkie (lol) finding one product that does wonders for my curls is great. On one side of my hair I have a lot of heat damage, this product is bringing my curls back :) perfect for my wash and goes. I really love this stuff.
This kind of moisturizes my hair, but it sometimes leaves white flakes. I have tried better products. It's definetely not my go-to moisturizer, bit I have a salon sized tub of it so I use it for whenever I run out of my favorite leave-in.
I like this product but be careful not to use to much. If used right it can help define curls and keep hair soft!
I love this stuff so much! I use it after I shampoo, co wash, or after deep conditioning my hair. This stuff is awesome! You don't need a lot. Be careful it can leave residue if you do put too much in your hair. I love you don't need a lot of this product for your hair to feel nice and soft. I use this before I twist or braid my hair up and it really does great. I also add my own oils to it as well to really give my hair more moisture. I mean you don't need to because this product is great all by itself but I just do. I have dry coarse hair so it helps me to do that. Overall this a great product already on my second container. This is something I can definitely use while I am transitioning and going forward. :)
It took me a while to figure out the right amount, but I think I've found it! This stuff moisturizes and defines my curls really well. Definite repurchase.
I wanted to like this so bad but it just sat on my hair made it waxy and dry. Tried as a deep conditioner: Nothing. Tried it as a styling agent: Nothing. At least its cheap ad widely available. I give it two curls instead of one because it didn't damage my hair and Im serious about dispensing 1 curl or 5 curls and this was most def not a one curl.
This was my favorite product when recovering from intense heat damage/hair colouring damage. It really worked well to make my hair break less, smell good, and become well moisturized. I used it in a mix with coconut oil and aloe vera to make a mean masque. Now however, whenever I use it, as a leave in or a masque, the build up is horrendous. It leaves white spots in my hair and my scalp itches like bloody heck. I had to rinse my hair twice with the masque just to get rid of the irritation. I tried different quantities, perhaps I was using too much? Yet, when I used less, my hair frizzed and became a tumbleweed. When I use it with other products, it makes my scalp irritated. I had to store the rest of the container *which lasts a long time by the way* in the back of my bathroom closet.
It does it's job as a leave in- moisturizing- but takes away any definition in my curls. If i do try to add any gel after applying the leave in, it leaves a white film in my hair. I find it works more effectively as a deep conditioner.
It kept my hair moisturized but not well-defined at all. My hair felt and looked like like soft cotton. I like my curls to have the essential balance of definition without being too petrified or puffy. Too much softness = high frizz factor - for me, anyway. I also noticed a waxy film left on my curls. No bueno! It also does not play well with other styling products (i.e. gels especially). My hair had little white balls in it after mixing this with my EcoStyler Olive OIl Gel....so gross! I had to immediately rinse it out. Now I just use my gel. I had high hopes for this :( It does keep my hair moisturized but too soft and unrefined.
ok so i gave this great stuff 5 curls for a reason!! First, my hair LOVES LOVES LOVES it!! Its very moisturizing for my hair, and i need moisture to the max! It leaves my hair feeling soft and my curls pop!! Ive been using this since i big chopped in oct 2012 and it hasnt let me down yet. I think im on my 6th container maybe? idk. lol. Its cheap. I got it for more than $6 every time. i use this as a conditioner/detangler, leave in, deep treatment. Sometimes i cant put this on my hair and just go without any other product. I love this stuff. I dont care if it has a cone for like the what- 15th ingredient! It does my hair some justice and im never letting this go as long as it keeps doing what it says it does. Highly recommend!!
I like this stuff. It leaves my hair feeling soft and moisturized for a really long period of time. The only problem I have with this is that when I use it with any brand of gel, it flakes horribly. For me it also doesn't give much definition unless I use it on soaking wet hair. Other than that it's really good. (:
During my mission for finding the best leave in conditioner for my 2C hair (wavy/curly, dry, low porosity, course, and very dense, & healthy), I came across the Cantu leave in and was drawn by it's really good reviews. I've noticed that the majority of the women who have used and who have raved about this product have 3C-4C hair. But this stuff was horrible for my type of curl. It left it soooo incredibly dry, poofy, and full, I mean FULL of frizz. To me, it was NOT moisturizing. You can't confuse waxiness to real moisture. When I tried applying more product to the frizzy areasm they just became more frizzy and very waxy. It was also very heavy and did not define my curls and waves, rather leaving them limp, dull, and difficult to style & comb once it was air dried. I can not understand how a product can leave your hair in such a hot mess lol. Like I said- It may work wonderful for different hair numbers, but definitely NOT for hair in the #2 ranges.
Edited: This product leaves a film on my hair even when used alone, for that reason alone I've changed the rating. I still like it but I don't love it as much as I used to and found another think creamy leave -in that does a better job and plays well with other products. I have repurchased and will do so from time to time but it had been downgraded to a back-up product I never expected much from this leave-in because I have fine kinky hair and it is a very thick product but it proved me so wrong. Pros: Leaves my hair moisturised Leaves my hair very very soft and manageable My hair was still soft and moisturised even after blow drying and flat ironing A little goes a long way Cons: Does not play well with the gel I have when used on wet hair. It leaves little while balls that do eventually go away when dry. Leaves a film worse with other products
The smell is amazing, but it's not quite as effective as I'd hoped on me. I think it adds moisture, but doesn't soften as well as some other things I've tried. Everyone else seems to love it though, so it's probably just not a perfect match for my hair.
stuff works. I have been on the hunt for products for my natural hair and after trial and error, I found it. What I do with this product, is mix this product with water and an oil and spray my hair. It is well moisturized and stays that way. My hair drinks moisture like a sponge and this stuff helps so much. I recommend this product for any 4b or 4c. I will leave another review after I buy more of the Cantu products.
I have used this from the start of my transitioning journey until I big chopped, and now completely natural. I love this product. In the quest to find products that work for me, this has been a staple.
I've been using this since I big chopped 2 years ago and it has been a staple ever since. I've learned that my hair loves Shea butter, Coconut Oil, and Argan Oil. And it absolutely loves this. It provides a lot of moisture, being water based, which helps define curls. It also has a pleasant smell and is inexpensive.
I wasn't expecting much from this product, since it was pretty cheap and available OTC at my local pharmacy. However, I have been very pleasantly surprised! I use it as a curl cream after washing me hair, and it does a really nice job of defining my 3c curls. My hair also stays moisturized all day.
This right here.... this right here is it! I know its not all natural but its ok, I wash with an organic clarifying shampoo. After conditioning, I rub this through and this makes my hair soft which is what many products fail to do with my super dry hair and it's amazing. I will DEFINITELY purchase again! It's worth a shot.
This product works good. But it's not excellent. It keeps your hair feeling a little sticky.
I was introduced to this product this year, used it for a couple of months, and been in love since. it's definitely a staple product for me. it leaves my hair curly and moisturized, not "crunchy and raggedy" like some other products i used.
This stuff tangles my hair up and makes it very hard and dry and stiff and greasy. I would not use it if you're protein sensitive or sensitive to smells. The scent is really strong. At least it was cheap.
I gave this 3 curls only because I've noticed that this is a hit or miss product. At the beginning of my journey I hated it and felt it was way to watery for my hair. One I reached my one year mark and did my mini chop I starting using this again and fell in love with it. I use it after cleansing and daily.
I'm using this product as both a deep conditioner (once a week) and a leave-in. My 3a curls get weighed down easily so a little bit goes a LONG way with this product as a leave-in, but it smells heavenly and it's super moisturizing. I recommend this product with the caution that you may have to adjust how much you use depending on your hair. For the price though, using it as a leave-in and a deep conditioner, I love it.
I'm a 4a & I'm not a big fan on having dry hair so I been using this leave in conditioner for about 3 or 4 months now! I have to say, it doing its job very well. My hair stays moisturize all day!!
I have just began using this product, about a week, and I am incredibly impressed. It does e x a c t l y what it says it does and more!! I struggled for quite some time finding the perfect product for my dry curls, and this product makes them feel like heaven! It defines them wonderfully, even the trouble patch I have, and it lasts well into the night. Even when I wake up in the morning my curls are still moisturized and springy. I've found that it works best when applied to soaking wet, clean hair and allowed to air dry with minimum touching. I don't even have to use anything else! I love, love, love this product and will definitely keep it in my regimen.
I love this leave in conditioner on my 3a curls, for me it so thick I used it as a regular conditioner too! I really like this product (:
Ok so I have mixed emotions with this product because it is a great moisturizer but it has HORRIBLE build up/ flakiness for my daughters and myself! It leaves our hair well moisturized but it also adds what patches of product! I use aloe vera gel as well and it this product does not play well with others! Maybe I add to much of it but it is definitely not something I am going to repurchase!
This product is amazing! I'll admit, I'm a HUGE product junkie, and I've basically tried every curly hair product you can think of. I just started using this stuff not too long ago and it was one of the best decisions I've made. It moisturizes my hair without leaving it greasy, and it also makes it easy for me to detangle my hair. I use this with my eco styler gel, and then I seal everything in with my coconut oil. It's perfect!
This product was highly recommended to me by many at this website, and other curly haired friends at large. I had been using Motions Hair and Scalp Daily Moisturizing Hairdressing. That can only serve one purpose, as a leave-in conditioner. I like this product more than the Motions leave-in, because its' texture is such that it can multi-task. This leave-in conditioner, unlike the Motions, has a lot of slip, and I can actually use it to detangle my hair as well, as my hair is very knot prone. This is also well absorbed by my low porosity hair. I love it, and I will definitely buy it again!
Love this leave-in!!! I used to be turned off by leave-in conditioners because I didnt think they worked. They were never "heavy" enough or really detangled my hair. I used to use V-05 conditioner as my leave-in. Now, this will be my "can't run out of" product. It is thick, creamy, and VERY effective. It nourishes your hair right away. It gives my hair shine instantly and I can comb through it with no problem! You can use it under other heavy products such as butters and gels with no problem.
I love it. use it pretty much everyday. it keeps my hair moisturized and soft. i just spritz a little water and run it through my hair
I love love love this stuff. It's even better when i mix it with some water and spray it in my hair and do a updo :)
When I first bought this product, I didn't like it much because I used it with the curl enhancement smoothie, which made my hair just feel kind of weighed down and prone to frizz. However, when I used it alone, I didn't have any problems. It left my hair shinier than ever and my curls were beautifully defined! However, one thing that I find strange is that canola oil is the second ingredient in this leave-in. But I guess it seems to work for my hair.
I love this product it is completely inexpensive and it works perfect on my 3c heat damaged hair .
After first using this, I hated it. I was using it as a leave in conditioner and noticing tons of buildup and a waxy feel. I now use this as a deep conditioner and love it! My hair does not have slip after rinsing this out, but it leaves my hair soft and moisturized after it dries. I highly recommend this.
I tried this and fell in love. This makes my hair feel so so soft and I like the fact that it also repairs. I use this for my twist outs and braid outs and I don't need anything else. I know it doesn't have natural ingredients but it makes my hair feel good
I love the cantu shea soft really made my kinky curls and coils soft but im not sure if im gonna use it again the ingrediants ive now swiched to like more 90 percent or 100 percent more natural hair products but I still recommend this product its really good
I love, love, love this stuff. This is my go to product. I co-wash with it and use it as a leave-in. I love the feel of my hair after using it and it is easy on my pocketbook during these financially trying times. My hair is super moisturized by this product and it has a pleasant scent. It also helps define my curl pattern and helps keep my frizz down more than another products I have tried. Did I say I love this product. :)
Staple, bought it a few weeks ago in the Netherlands, Amsterdam. After reading so much about it online and seeing it being used by other 4C girls on Youtube.com. It seems to moisturize, even though I thought it sealed the hair. Anyone who can clarify this? Love what is does to the structure of my hair. I usually have no clump whatsoever. But this stuff....! I DC'd, moisturized and fingercoiled my hair with the Cantu Shea and sealed with castor oil. In the morning I took out the coils and it gave me a shiny 3c look on my hair. And it lasted 3 whole days. I did reapply though during the week, that's a minus. But curls were SUPERDEFINED. The other downside to it is that it does contains some chemicals that I can't place right now and also silicones. Otherwise I would've given it a definite 5 Curls.
This product proves that you can't just rely on reviews to help select your products. This was an impulse buy (Walgreens, $5) that I just grabbed without reading any reviews or anything. I went into it blind and was very pleased! I love this stuff, smells great, makes my hair feel like silk. I have type 3b curls, very tight, very prone to frizz. I really love it when I'm going to flat iron my hair. I flat iron every now and then because I like to change things up once in a while. This stuff helps the iron to glide over my hair very smoothly. I was shocked to come on here and find a fair amount of people that claimed this product made their hair dry. Just goes to show that what works for some may not be the best choice for others. But what really sealed the deal for me was the price. $5!!! For only $5 it's worth a try.
This product made my hair feel and look great...for like five minutes. After that my hair felt dry and crunchy. Although it smells nice, the product was too heavy for my hair and caused frizz.
Disappoint in this! Dried my hair out, did not perform well as a base for a Styler. Way too thick, it was hard to comb through. Left my hair frizzy and puffy. Left a lot of build up and residue.
Been using this product since I first started my natural hair journey, I love it, its very lightweight and makes my hair soft.
Been using this product for about 2 weeks during my post relaxer transition and after my big chop i usually apply it my towel dryed hair daily as a part of my wash-&-go processs this product doesnt leave my hair moistured for very long though
I love this products, I can't express how much I believe this products done wonders on my 4a/4b hair type. After shampooing, DC, I applied this products on my towel dry hair to style section by section. The smell is amazing and it left my hair feeling and smelling awesome. The one thing I failed to like was that it didn't leave my hair moisturize for a long period of time. Throughout the week, I applied this Leave-In about 3/4 times a week. Me personally don't like to apply to much product on my hair in a week. :-) Highly recommend this products
Very good product! I mix it in with my kimmaytube leave in..leaves my hair soft and moisturized... Only flaw is that I wish the smell was more appealing..but it doesn't smell bad!
This is my go to product! Wet or dry, put a blob in my palm scrunch through dry hair and it always looks good. And for the price you can't go wrong!
I was using this for a long time because I didn't really know what else to use as my leave in conditioner. It is an alright product. Though I do like for my leave-ins to have de-tangling action and this didn't quite work well for me as far as having slip and whatnot. I recently went looking for something to replace it with because it is rich in protein. I recently found out that I have low-porosity type hair (sensitive to protein) and realized that this was causing my hair to become drier and more breakage prone so I had to leave it alone. To be honest though, I don't miss it and it really wasn't anything special to me.
i love this product it is perfect for wash and go's and it defines and moisturises my curls very well but i wish the moisture would last a bit longer cause i have to reapply it at least twice or three times a day and its a good value for your money because u get alot in the jar and with this product a little goes a long way. the smell is also amazing!!!:)
I Lovee the smell of it. It makes my 3b/3c hair really soft and it feels moisturized, but it doesn't look it. My hair looks a dry and a little frizzy after using this product.
I dislike this product for my type, but for detangling my hair it make it soft but other than that not my favorite
I LOVE this product, leaves my hair soft, manageable & Heathy looking, definitely one of my fab hair products, oh & it smells great too!!!
OMG y'all go get some of this product!! Like right now! Lol but this conditioner works great on my 3b/3c hair. It's lightweight and moisturizing on my chronically dry hair and it smells nice too. I love it for wash n' go's and braid outs, all i do is use some coconut oil and shea butter underneath the cantu and I'm set. Try It!:)
I love Cantu Shea Butter especially when I co wash my hair. I can see my curl pattern and its silky smooth and worth every penny I'm still on my first jar you don't need to use large amounts to get good results.
I love this product on my 3a curls!! Left them shiny, moisturized, with just the right ramount of hold. My boyfriend loves how it makes my hair soft and touchable! (: Which is always nice ^.^
I wish this had 4.5!!! I hope to someday give this a five, because it's a great product, i just haven't used it long enough! So I don't know if it's really perfect! I used it though! And it's seriously a great styling cream. It adds hold & shine, but isn't crunchy, hairs or leaves a residue! It smells great! And it's very inexpensive! I love it!!!! Definitely a better curly pudding alternative!!!
Fan! I'd say its a staple for me... Being that I have 3 containers at home. Lol! Leaves my hair soft & moisturized the way a leave in CONDITIONER should. I also mix a little Raw shea butter, castor oil & aloe vera to it & it does wonders for me hair! I just BC in September & this is here to stay!
My first time using will post another review soon. I purchased the Salon size 32oz for $8.99! I wanted to try this, because I always see this product in so many curlies rituals. I love products also and love to review! So, before unraveling my twist, I applied to my whole head with pure shea butter on my fingers. After I unravel all my twist I applied more Cantu to sections and water with light olive oil, I picked through sections making sure to have a firm grip on the hair. *I have will style after I take off my plastic cap and head scarf* I usually use my Shea Moisture Restorative conditioner, I noticed the Cantu is not as thick as the Shea Moisture. But I will give this product at least 30 -45 days before reviewing any more!
I give this product a 5 out 5. I absolutely love cantu Shea butter leave in conditioner. My hair type is a mix of all the 4s together and cantu help me moisturize as well as restore my hair. Most leave in con. are water biased meaning that it has lots of water, but this product, I assure you is thick & great for any hair type .
This is probably the first thing I bought when I started doing my natural hair. My beauty supply had the salon size it helps me so much. It's aweshum.
You can not beat this price for how good this product is. It's very thick and moisturizing and leaves your hair soft and it smells great. I hear people below me saying "It has no hold!" Well DUH. It's a leave-in, not a styler. Now, some people compare this to shea moisture's curl enhancing smoothie. No way! Shea moisture's is all organic, smells better, gives you more hold as well as more softness and shine. However it is less product for 2x as much money, so what do you expect? Anyways, this is the best product for the price.
I am 4a from the pictures of other peoples hair and the description. I like this little nifty app! I realised my curls came out more with this product really recommend this for other 4a type curlies :)
I have 3c hair. i have been using this for about a week now. I love how it smells and keeps my hair super soft. I been natural since July after my big big chop and no relaxer. This may be a product i may keep in my routine from time to time. Until i encounter something greater
When i used to use this product, my hair always felt dry after applying..and crunchy. I have 3c/4a hair and my curls didn't do anything with it.
I love this stuff! It leave my hair feeling super soft and moisturized. It also works very well as an aid for detangling. Definitely a staple!
This is a great product to detangle hair. My 13 year old has natural hair at about 12-15 inches in length and it gets pretty tangled after washing. This product with a denman brush simply works it out! Now this product does not work well on my natural TWA. It just makes my hair look dry but I don't see where it's really doing anything else.
When I don't have any more of my silk elements leave-in, I would use this. This is the second product I would go to. I don't like the thickness of it, but it does leave my curls well moisturized. I'm not too much of a fan of the smell either.
Ok so I have just fallen back in love with this product after ditching it for Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie (awesome product too). I read reviews saying u shouldn't use it because it had silicones...and so on and whatever. I tried using it again last night and my hair loved it! Excellent slip, super moisturizing, and great ingredients. So it has silicone...nothing shampoo won't take out. Besides, it's towards the bottom and all the other great ingredients cancels out this one bitty thing...
This product did nothing for my daughters hair. Her curls were just had a greasy film on them but her hair was still frizzy looking and the curls were not defined at all. I used it two days and then took it back. Visit my youtube page to see the results for yourself (Brooke3705 on youtube)
So far I like it. It was only $5 at walmart and I heard so much about it and had to try it. This really made my 3b curls soft, pretty and easier to deal with. My hair isn't thick but a style cream isnt enough. I've heard this can be problematic if you use gel but I dont soooo it was ok for me. I feel it's at least worth a try. $5. Maybe get it at walgreens if they have it. They have a great return policy on stuff. I know. Worth a try
It was okay for me. I couldnt use it along with a gel because it left behind white residue. It only kept my hair moisturized for that day but dry the next day.
This is the main leave in a use daily. I've been thinking of making a switch. Everytime I do I just go back to this. My only complaint is in more humid climates this product doesn't really help my hair stay frizz free. Besides that I love it.
Love this leave conditioner. It makes my hair soft and easy to manage. I do believe it strengthens my hair as well.
This product leaves my hair feeling very soft and moisturized but sometimes leaves a white residue in my hair when it's dries. Besides that I have no complaints.
I really like this product especially since it's cheap and has good ingredients. The smell is ok, but not something I want to smell all of the time. Basically for the price you can't do better than this product.
I loved how soft it made my hair feel and it lasted through the day. But I had to reuse it everyday. And it flaked up when i paired it with Olive Oil Eco Gel . But it's cheap so that made me happy
I used this whoooole container and pretty much its okay. The moisture does not last long. I had to use this everyday. I spritz my hair with water then added this. After my hair is dry it feels moisturized but my hair is limp and didn't give me the softness I desired, so i always added for. Switched to shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie and that gave me that softness i've been searching for. Great price though. I wouldn't tell anyone not buy this at least try it out, it may work for you.
This is "Yum-mazing"..I love the way it makes my hair feel..total moisture in my curls/coils! It is a FAB price and it does it's job! I don't give it a 5 curl because I am getting away from silicon products (cough take it out cough). I would definitely by again if they take that ingredient out! <3 Blessings
Great product! Leaves your hair soft and moisturized while also at a bargain price. I just a tiny dab of this (a little goes a long way, it's so emollient) use this with a curl defining cream, and sometimes mousse, and I'm set. I have always had problems finding the right product for my hair, but once I found this I stuck with it.
I don't luv this product, but it works for my hair. I want something that smells better . . .
OMG!! that's all I can say is, OMG! Amor (my hair) LOVES THIS PRODUCT, it made my hair feel so moisturized and soft, no crunchiness, no breakage, literally helps your hair grow, yes'm!!!
I do not like this product. Extremely heavy on my 3c hair and does not mix well with my Eco argan oil gel. It does work great on my daughters 3c hair either wet or dry.
my hair luvs this stuff. i like to use it as detangler before i cleanse my hair or as a leave in. this product leaves my hair very soft, smelling great and most importantly very moisturized.
I use this for my bantu knot outs. It leaves my hair really soft and has a natural shine. It is kind of heavy so I can't use it everyday or else it will leave my hair kind of greasy. It's a great price, especially for how much you get. A little goes a long way with this cream. The one bad thing about this product is that I get flakes after 2 or 3 days from product buildup, so I recommend putting it on your scalp if you're going to use it everyday. The smell is nice, doesn't linger too much and the cream has a nice consistency.
I wish I could give this no curl. I used this when I first went curly and it left my hair caked with this stuff. I'm NEVER buying this again.
I have owned this product for about 2 months and I am very satisfied with my purchase. when i originally bought it i thought it was an all natural product (i didnt read the ingredients). I am trying to stay away from non natural products. THIS WORKS REALLY WELL!!!! When i noticed it wasnt natural i still used it because it kept my curls extremely moisturized and healthy. My hair is also very soft to touch when i use it, it reminds me of when I was younger and had hair that was not affected by heat damage. The only reason I do not give it 5 curls is because i prefer products that smell a little fruitier. This product does not stink at all but its not a smell that i am kin to. if also contains alcohol which im not a fan of. but if youre looking for something affordable tat gets the job done this is definitely a good product. **i use it as a daily styler and deep conditioner**
I love this stuff. It moisturizes my hair and works great with my twist outs and bantu knot outs though it doesnt have much hold but if used with a little gel its perfect. I will definately be repurchasing the salon size with the pump because its so awesome.
THis product does nothing but leave my hair feeling soft. I'm careful to not apply too much as it can leave the hair feeling a bit greasy, but other than that, when used in moderation, this is a great product.
This is an amazing product. It moisturizes my transitioning hair without drying and it allows curl definition. Even though it contains alcohol, it's not drying. A little goes a long way with this product. The price is good and if you visit a local beauty supply. you can get a jar twice the size with a pump, for $4 dollars more. I think it's a great deal.
Love this product. This was a staple for all three curlies in my house (myself 4b/c daughters 3c/4a). Only thing it did not mix well, honey or evoo.
I hate this product! Yes it gave my hair moisture, but after a couple of hours, I noticed it was flaking all over my shoulders, so I thought it was because I moisturized it when dry, but NO! It did the same exact thing, so I just had to return it-__-
I really really love this product. It smells great and leaves my hair really moisturized and soft. You also get a lot for your money. It you haven't tried it, I recommend you give it a try!
I did not like this product when I was transitioning. It made my hair feel horrible. But after transitioning, it did it's job, just no my favorite product.
My favorite product!!! It's so moisturizing, non-greasy, smells great, and not harsh at all on your hair. And it's cheap as all get out too!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
This cantu repair cream is one of my staple products i use on my 3c hair . the cream really leaves my hair really soft and moisturized without it feeling greasy . i highly recomend this product.plus you get alot of product for a good price .
I rake this through wet hair, paying close attention to the ends and my hairline around my face (the dryest!). Then, I plop overnight. On my lighter 2C/3A hair, this product adds some resilience to my curls. They don't wisp around as much throughout the day. I dusted through my ends last night and they still didn't frizz up even after manipulation. I'm reading that it's a great moisturizer and detangler for curlier hair types, but Type 2s should also know that this product can do something for them
As a 3b/3c this is one of my staples. It gives me consistent curl definition when I put it on wet hair. Only thing that I don't like about it is that it can weigh down my hair if I accidentally use a bit too much.
I love this stuff, I use it as a leave in for my braid-outs and to slick down my edges. love the smell and thickness of it,and it's not greasy at all. the price is right and it also helps with detangling.
This stuff is really great for my thick hair my hair just eats it up! I use it to slick down my buns because it is a very heavy/thick cream but it doesnt leave white residue its very moisturizing!
I love this leave in condish. I use it mainly for my pre poo. The smell is a bit much for me, but it detangles my 4c tressess like a charm. And it doesn't break the bank! This is definitely a staple product for me.
I love this stuff. When I apply a lot it gets really heavy, which I love because it makes my curls look longer! I put it on at night, do the pineapple, wake up, shake out my curls & add a little water. I'm good to go! It smells sooo good. SN: it also tames and defines the 3c curls on the top back part of my head...which my expensive gels from sephora don't even do. Love it!!!
I use it everyday as my number one moisture product. I love it because it leaves my hair feeling soft!!!
I used this product a lot when I would straighten my hair. It would leave my hair super soft, shinny, and easy to detangle. But I've found that since I've quite using heat on my hair, its not a deep as a moisturizer. I feel like I need something more to lock in more moisture now that my hair is in its natural state. Also, I'm not to cray about some of the ingredients. But I'll use it every now in then after I wash my hair for a leave in.
I bought this product when I big chopped in June 2011 and I recall not liking the product so much back then. But now that my hair has grown much longer, I noticed that my ringlets in back were looking a bit frizzier than the rest, so I reached for this last night just to see if it would hydrate and make a difference. WOW! I'm sold. This is in my holy grail for sure. My hair is hydrated, shiny, and well defines. I don't use gels at all because I hate crunch. I never expected for the product to work on my hair this well, but I am so happy! This is good stuff!
Cantu She products contains cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB)--an ingredient synthesized using coconut oils. In 2004, the American Contact Dermatitis Society named CAPB the "Allergen of the Year." The other ingredients found in Cantu Shampoo include: water, ammonium lauryl sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate, lauramide dea, lauryl glucoside, sodium laureth sulfate, laureth-10, cocamide mea, glycol distearate, C14-16 alpha olefin sulfonate, acrylates copolymer, dimethicone, Peg-6 caprylic/capric glycerides, Peg-150 pentaerythrityl tetrastearate, disodium EDTA, Dmdm hydantoin and triethanolamine. Many of these are chemicals and soaps that may cause allergies or potential irritation to the scalp. Yellow 5, Yellow 6 and fragrance are also on the ingredients list. People who are allergic to these yellow dyes or who are sensitive to fragrances should exercise caution. I use only 100% naturally derived ingredients on my hair and scalp. I co-wash once a week unless I am wearing my hair out. The reason so many of these products have to be used everyday, is because the ingredients in them cause drying so you have to reapply to moisturize. They are Oxymorons if you ask me..
I like this product but I only gave it 4 curls because I can't seem to mix this with any other product even my moisturizers! It will leave a white precipitate, even when it dries. I end up having to wash my hair all over again. It is moisturizing I just wish I could use it with other products. This is great for two strand twists though!
When I first tried it, I wasn't sure if it would work that well but it is now one of my favorite products. It defines my curls while keeping the feeling moisturized. It smells amazing! And it's at a great price.
My curl type: Mostly 3c, but waves and kinks in some places, and looser curls in other places. I had tried this right after my BC as just a plain leave in, but I got dry hair with crunch. Recommended it to a friend with type 3 curls, she got AMAZING results. Her hair is not as thick as mine is. The other day, I decided to use it for a co-wash, and BINGO. Detangled beautifully, and absorbed into my hair almost immediately (I was cowashing in the shower and since my hair shaft was open because of the warm water, I think that's the reason for the awesome results). I also tried it as a DC, mixed it with extra virgin olive oil (it mixes BEAUTIFULLY. Trick: Use an egg whisk to get it to mix in completely) and left it on my hair with a plastic cap and microfiber towel...so defined and softened my curls! Took the cap off, air dried, and lo and behold, i had slinkies (what i call well defined curls) soft, and could pull and tug and it would bounce right back. So now, I have some mixed in with the Cantu cream shampoo for washing, and my mixture with the EVOO for when I'm out of the shower. When the water in my hair cools down the product sinks in and camps out, and makes my hair soft but frizz free and controlled, which is what I need right now since it's so very short. Conclusion: by itself, it can "sit" on your hair, but in the shower for me, it sinks right in and softens. Then out of the shower, used as a leave in mixed with EVOO and combed through gently with a three row straightening comb....let air dry....soft, stays in place. Waiting for my hair to grow long enough to BOUNCE!
This worked great when I used it for doing a ponytail. It always moisturizes my hair and leaves it soft and shiny. Works good on flat ironed hair and curly hair. Also it's good for styling!
I do like the product :however, i do not like it for my hair. It smells good and it left my hair feeling moisturized. My issue is that this product does not define your curls at all and for me that is an issue because i liked my curls defined just a little. I would rate the product at least a four if I could use gel but you cannot use gel at all because it leaves a nasty, white residue. Like i said, good product if you don't like your curls defined but its not for me.
I love this product ! However it contains Trimethylsilylamodimethicone that is a silicone right ?!? Is it one that causes build up !?
I use this product every other day and I like the results I get. It smells AMAZING. People are always complementing me on the smell. The only thing I don't like is that it takes so long to dry. But the price is great and it lasts me about a month.
I haven't used this product since i was first transitioning into my natural hair but , it was perfect through those challenges. just enough moisture when applying into my wet hair routine with finger comb. Smell was a little strong but the jar was great because it lasted pretty long.
This product does wonders for my hair. Its just the right weight for a cream leave in conditioner. I can use it for any style I desire( i.e. bantu knot -out, twist out, braid out) and know my hair will come out defined and highly moisturized. The only negative thing about this product is that I have to use it by itself, with no other leave-ins or gels. If I don't it will cause white residue. However, there is really no need to use other products when using cantu leave-in. With other leave in conditioners I find myself having to use the LOC Method. Liquid (water or liquid leave-in) Oil and a Cream based product.
I use this alot during the week. I usually put it on my dry hair and braid it, and leaves my hair very moisturized, and I have 4c hair. Definitely recommend it.
It works pretty well for me. It adds moisture but it doest work as great for styling. I have never tried it as a deep conditioner but I have heard it works great in that aspect. I suppose Ill give it a try.
This is the best leave in conditioner i have EVER tried, i used cream of nature leave in but it made my hair sticky, that product was my staple (used a total of 3 8.5 oz bottles) and they go by fast, the cantu shea butter has a calm coconut smell and i only need a little to moisturize i've had it for a month and only used maybe a centimeter layer of it! it is gonna last me a while but im gonna stock up on then it started at being 5 dollars now its 7! this product makes my hair shiny and does help repair heat damage, i had some heat damage, but this product cleared most of it up ! this is probably one of the best purchases i've ever made! :)
This stuff is what im using currently. it smells SO good and brings out my waves and curls after i wash it. it goes from a big poof to relaxed and wavy. i love it! :)
This has a great smell and is one of the best cream moisturisers I've used. It doesn't help me much with definition or hold but my hair always feels soft and manageable when I use this.
I love this product. Smells so yummy! I hate that it can leave a light white coating to hair. Not very noticable but can see it. Do make your hair soft and a little more manageable.
MM MM MM!!!! do i love this product!!!!!!!!!!!!! it made my hair so nice and soft. it made my hair feel super healthy to ! moisturized 2! :) :)
I love everything about this leave in conditioner. Whether I leave my hair wet or put it in before blow drying. I'm never disappointed. My hair is always soft, moisturized and shiny. It does what it says!
My hair is fine and low porosity and I'm extremely prone to buildup. This stuff gave me mega buildup which made my hair dry. If your hair gets buildup easily and you don't want to clariy your hair all the time then I recommend you keep going. .
I used this product religiously, nearly everyday, about four months ago and I loved it but I started to notice that my hair was beginning to reject the product. It began to just sit on top of the hair, which sucks. It smells nice and it does what it says it will do, but I don't think this product was meant for long term use on my hair. I have products that I used everyday (and still do) that didn't have that "sitting on the hair" issue that this product did. Also, I am the type that mixes products and this product isn't easy to mix with certain stylers and butters. Alone, it does ok as a styler but my hair sucks up moisture like nobody's business so this alone as a styler wouldn't do the trick and the horrible flaking that occurred when mixed with other products was a definite minus in my book. I believe the only reason I was able to use the product for so long was because I was using that and only that, but obviously my hair needed more. I do sitll use the product now, but I dilute it with water and use it as a spray on leave-in when I'm wearing my hair in yarn braids, kinky twists, etc.
It does what it says. I love it but I had one issue.Makes my hair soft and manageable which is an amazing feet since my hair needs alot of moisture but the scent....well its a great smell but it also kind of smells alcohol-ish to me. Great product!!!! Must try :D
My curls are really dry and thirsty and this does not provide moisture. I do not recommend this to anyone with dry hair.
My hair really liked this. Very moisturizing and it left my curls nicely defined as well. Great product for the price. It's kind of interesting that using a little or a lot my hair liked it either way.
After reading some of the reviews I had high hopes for this leave-in. Although I like the smell of this product, it did not moisturize my hair and it also left residue behind. At least it was only $4!
Love this product a great staple. I don't have the problem of build up. So I use every other day. I just water spritz, light oil and go on the days that I don't wash and go. The smell to me is fantastic!
I first began this LIC while transitioning in 2008. It worked great on my hair and made it soft and more manageable because I was having a hard time combing/styling my different textures of hair. I wore my hair in twist sets mostly because of this issue. When my hair grew out and I was completely natural I began to notice that my hair was becoming gray and was not as shiny. This product was building up on my hair and a clafiying shampoo was the only way to resolve this issue. I only like to shampoo my hair once every 2 months with co-washes weekly. I have since discontinued the use of this product. It was good for me when I was transitioning, that is why it still gets 4 curls. I used to swear by it. My hair has changed therefore I've changed products.
I love this product! I have been using it for about 4 months now. I use it after I co-wash and it really defines my curls!
I just bought this yesterday and I really really like this. I used it as a leave-in conditioner. It smells really good, like the palmers coconut oil conditioning pak. It makes my curls pop without making it hard like the ecostyler gel. The only downside to this is I have to do a wash and go every day to make my hair look nice. With the ecostyler I can go about 3-4 days before I have to rinse my hair and start over. This product doesn't give me those "white balls" that everyone is talking about. maybe it's because I use coconut oil before I apply this? I recommend it.
I haven't used it in a while because when I cut my hair. . I would use others everyday! this product is great and cheap. It mosturizes my hair and its a leave in so it leave my hair baby bottom soft. I would recommend those to a friend. The only thing is of you use too much it stinks. .for this product less is moree
Really great product! It really helps as a detangler after I wash my daughter's hair and it smells SOOOO good!
I love this stuff. It makes my hair feel very soft and manageable. It's a great moisturizer, but it does not provide any hold, Your hair will be poofy when it dries if you don't use a styling product with it. I found that using a gel product like garnier fructis super hold works great with it and smells really good also.
I love love this product. It defines my 3C curly-kinky curls perfectly. I use it in conjunction with a leave in conditioner and Hawaiian Silky's 14n1. It smells good, is not greasy and can be used again without the need to rewash my hair. There is no flaking or white residue either. It's hard to believe something so perfect costs so little.
I really like this leave-in but I learned that you have to be careful with the application because it does create a massive amount of white residue. What I really like is that it leaves my hair feeling super soft and it surprisingly made my 3Cs look like 3Bs in the crown area. What I don't particularly care for is the white residue it leaves even if you just use a little. To remedy this I just spritz some water from my spray bottle, smooth it out then finger rake in my gel and let it air dry for my wash and go. Also I find that it's doesn't add much shine but you can definitely get some decent 2nd day hair with a little spritz of water and some additional shingling.
WOW, I have 3b/3c hair and I simply REFUSE to pay 15 bucks for a bottle of hair product. So when I picked this up, I was a bit skeptical of how well it wouldwork by the texture and strong smell. It worked miracles with my hair. My curls are generally fractal like with out much definition. This stuff defines them sooo well that my hair formed beautiful ringlets. Very conditioning and doesn't weigh your hair down. It also doesn't break the bank. All I'm saying is why pay more when you simply don't have to,
I really love this product. It left my hair soft and moisturized. Great on my twist out! Will make this apart of my staples!
One word - BRILLIANT . I love the way this stuff both defined and moisturized my 3B/3C multi-ethnic curls . The smell is ok , but I would have gave this 5 stars if the smell was a little more enticing :) P.S - My hair has never been in such excellent condition after daily use of this for a month straight ; just a god send for those of you wanting a way to make your damaged hair healthy again !
I came upon this wandering the hair aisle in CVS one day. It smelled great and looked like it may be good for my 3C/birracial hair, so I bought it. What a GREAT product! I couldn't believe how soft it made my hair! I use it as a leave-in conditioner and for deep conditioning. It makes it easy to style my curls anyway I would like. I can finger curl my curls, poof them out into a 'fro, whatever. And the price and size of the product is wonderful! Best "Holy Grail" product I've found so far.
Love this product, using the right amount really leaves my hair feeling soft and manageable. I usually use it once every two weeks sometimes more if my hair needs it .
Good product but if I didn't wash my hair after like 2 days then it would start too make my scalp really dry and itchy but other than that I love an use it every other day ...
I first used this product on relaxed hair and looking back I probably used way too much because it sat on top of my hair and left a white residue. But recently, since I began transitioning, I've used this as leave-in after my deep conditioner. It leaves my natural hair soft and even defines my curls but it does leave my relaxed ends soaking wet (again, I am a culprit of using too much conditioner). But I find that it works best when I leave it in over night under a shower cap so that I give the conditioner a greater chance of seeping into the shaft. This is definitely my favorite staple !
love the way this product repairs my hair, especially when my ends are a little rough. mixes well with oil products i.e. coconut oil and even Pantene relaxed and natural daily oil cream moisturizer.
this product smells for freakin' good! it has a pina colada smell to it. but its great when I use it for my bantu knot outs and braid outs. try it! you won't regret it :)
I've never written a review before, but I had to for this product because it is AMAZING. I love it so much that I have completely disregarded the fact that it's got silicones in it (Trimethylsilylamodimethicone). When I first tried it, I made the mistake of applying it on to my dry hair to see how it would work as a refresher. Unfortunately, it left my hair looking white because of its thick consistency. I then had to wash and clarify my hair, and I applied this on top of my regular leave-in conditioner to use as a styler, and then I followed up with a lightweight gel. I know this product is meant to be used alone, but I was skeptical because I have incredible frizz that I wanted to control. I must say, after drying, my hair was the softest, shiniest, and most defined it has EVER been (and least frizzy!). For the price you pay for the amount you get, this is definitely worth trying. It will be a staple product for me! Also, the scent is to die for. I literally felt the urge to scoop out some shea butter and eat it!
This product makes my hair really shiny and soft. Also, the smell is distinct, but it isn't that bad unlike a lot of products I've used before. This product really defines my curls; before using this I didn't have such pretty and defined coils, waves and curls, but now... OMG. The bad thing is I can't use it for wash and go, because the product SITS on my hair, it looks like I have a wad of white cream in my hair. Other than that, I really like it.
I have 3c/4a hair and i use this as a leave in for my wash n go on some of my busy days. I like the feel and smell of the conditioner but I find that it dosen't hold the moisture in my hair for long periods of time no matter if I apply it to wet or dry hair. It does leave my hair soft and there is no residue on my curls. I have to say for the price its great.
I'm a 4a and I started using this because I know that shea butter has amazing healing, softening and protecting properties. I like it, and I've pretty much used the whole jar, but it has left me wanting more because I dont really love the way my hair feels afterward. Not sticky, perse, but just...not exactly clean or something. I do use it in combination with some good essential oils to seal it in, though, and that feeling usually goes away and my hair is much softer and less thirsty than it was when I first started using it, less split ends and all that =) However, as pr blackboi said, it doesn't moisturize for long periods so daily or every other day application will probably be necessary :/ I haven't yet used it as a leave-in, though, with wet hair. I'd say try it!.. why not, it's hella cheap, lol, and it does in fact get the job done pretty satisfactorily!!
I love this leave-in cream conditioner. Its super moisturizing and it smells great which is a plus. I shampoo, condition, then apply this cream to my strands when I 2 strand twist my hair. It works great for a soft twist out. It doesn't cause that build up feeling that you think you'd get from it due to its thick consistency. And for the price you can't beat if for sure.
I really like this product. I use it whenever my hair's wet for the protein in it. My hair feels strong when I use it. So, it's a keeper. Oh, and the jar is big enough to last a while because you really don't need much.
in my opinion, this cantu shea butter leave in is one of those things that work really well on that first day, but then the next day, its a hot mess. the second day this was in my hair, my hair was super oober duper matted and there was mad residue left. that might have been from the silicone that this product contains. i had to shampoo this out 2 times just to get the smell and feel of it out of my hair. this is buy far one of the worst things i have ever put in my hair and i am glad it only costed me $4 cuz it SUX!!!
I have been transitioning for 3 months now and have been adamantly searching for a good leave in. I started my transition using Curls products however w/this economy and a toddler a girls gotta stay w/in a budget and I couldn't keep justifying spending $10 on Curls when I had heard so many good things about Cantu and you get twice as much product for half of what I was paying for Curls(and when I was relaxing I used their products anyway & still do on my son's hair mixed w/a litte evoo...recommended by his barber). Anyway, I have just added Cantu to my reggie about a week ago and so far so good. I like the smell and it makes my hair soft but the consistency did throw me off some bc it appears as thou it would be thicker like a cream but is actually more lotion like. I do not personally have the problem some ladies have been having w/the product build-up and I use it every evening as a leave-in :-) duh huh! and then seal w/my grapeseed oil & cover w/a silk scarf. I do this everyday until I wash, condit, etc. (depending on the week) and re-twist my hair once a week. I have 3c curls but as some are stating I really think this product along w/all others are a hit or miss for everyone. What works for me may not work for you (even if we have the same hair type...& why would it? We all lead different lifestyles food, exercise, medications, etc & all this effects how our bodies and hair react to things) so we shouldn't be surprised when everything does not work for all of us. You just need to keep searching and experimenting until you find the right products that work for your hair/lifestyle:-)!
this did not help or hurt my hair. my hair still felt somewhat dry aftr using it. If you do have acne you may want to think twice before using it. My skin was clearing up but when i used this product i had broke me out again. which isw why i'm going to definately stay way from this product. Waste Of My 4 Dollars
Great price and leaves my hair feeling soft. Usually I use it for after washing my hair and as a styling aid. It's not curl defining but it's great for two strand twists/twists out. Leaves my hair feeling soft, moisturized, and shiny.
i had a friend talk about it. i love the smell it makes my hair mangeable but the build up is bad and it do not blend well with other products
Postives: It will leave your hair moisturized. Negatives: It left a weird film on my hair, a bunch of little white clumps and did not tame the frizz. I tried several different application methods but didn't like the results. I used the rest of the bottle because I didn't want to waste it. I ended up either mixing it with Eco Styler Gel or wearing it under it. Always had to re-wet my hair and rinse it out. It looks like a thick cream but is more like a lotion.
I love this product. It's one that consistantly stays in the line-up of hair products. I have 3c with 4a mixed in. I wouldn't use it when staightening your hair but it is great for curly days!
The product description promises a lot. I mean a lot of naturals suffer frizzy, tangled hair (well at least I do). The actual product itself is a different (let’s say interesting) consistency, it like creamy but different (I can’t find the word to explain it). The Leave In Conditioner also shares the same tropical fruit (coconut, I think) smell. Well to be honest I was pretty disappointed with the results on my hair. I didn’t feel it gave any definition to my curls and my hair wasn’t frizz free as the product claim it would be. It didn’t take long for my hair to feel dry. The product appeared to make no real difference to my hair and on top of that I couldn’t put gel on it because it would go white and weird [not cool]. There were a few good points about the product, I liked the smell I find also the product wasn’t sticky, gummy or greasy. Plus you do get quite a lot of the products almost 500ml for £5 which is great if the product works for you (from other review this works for other people). As I said before I was disappointed with the product, I truly felt I had wasted money on it. The Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream failed to most of the things that it promised to do on the tub and after I spent a fiver on it, I thought I was truly paying for quality. However, it has to be said sometimes a product is fantastic on other people’s hair and you’re not-so-fantastic, maybe it one of those hit or miss products. On the other hand I couldn’t recommend any one the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream with my experience on the product but like I said before each to their own.
I purchased this product years ago when I initially went natural and it worked on my dry hair. When I recently went natural I used it again for a moisturizer and when i went to do a cowash it left my hair with a lot of residue and in klumps to the point I had to end up washing my hair w/castile soap to get my hair back to normal. I would not say that I don't suggest it, but it just didn't work for me.
This made my hair really good for ONE day, and then i ended up with so much build up and it felt really nasty, im never using this again, total waste of money.
I have 3b curls and I use this product as a leave in with Kinky Curly Custard and it gives me the most amazing definition and softness. In the mornings I just put a little on to refresh my curls and it does a great job! A little goes a long way.
This Leave in Conditioner leaves my hair feeling soft and looking healthy....what i love most is that its affordable.....Beauty that I can maintain
I bought this like a year ago & hated it.. but two of my friends recently have been raving about it so i retried it and like it! This takes a minute to figure out.. first, it does NOT mix with water based products AT ALL. It pretty much dosent mix with anything. I also find that its good for braidouts, dosent weigh my fine 3c hair down even though its so heavy, wierd LoL. It also smooths and holds hair well. When this product gets old the consistency changes, it is now like a thick cottage cheese & when I looked at a new one in Target the other day it was indeed a cream. Im not a fan of the smell, its too strong & smells too artificial, kind of a chemical after scent. I do like this on my curls, and for ponytails & buns. This is best as a one step product for a wash & go, because it can only be used by itself!
I can't decide how I feel about this product yet which is why I gave it 3 curls. I like it, but I just dont know that I love it..and I'm not sure what I like about it. I think its good for wash & go's but doesn't give my hair much shine. The smell is ok but I've certainly better (and worse). I definitely like that it doesn't weigh my hair down but I'm not sure that it provides much softness. I use it just before I'm putting braids in & sometimes before 2 strand twists as I like my hair to be somewhat protected while its resting and since I haven't been able to find anything else that I like, I've relied on this. I keep using it though because the price was great & I know one of these days, I'll find a reason to love it lol
The consistency is good, spreads easily. Kills frizz. Does cause build-up, The smell is....weird and too strong for me.
I love this product. It makes my hair very soft and I also use it for wash and go's. It gives great curl definition, good for de-tangling, twisting, and other styles. With this product however you have to find the right products that work in conjunction or else it will look like you have residue in your hair. Most of the time I use this alone and if I need shine and moisture I use oils, not creams. This is a product that I have to have in my arsenal.
I really like this product. It gives my hair so much definition. While my hair is still wet I apply some evoo on first and then shingle the conditioner through. My hair looks and feels great. I'm also in love with the price =)
should NOT be used with another product, whether underneath or on top. (except for maybe an extremely watery conditioning mist) - it'll flake up. Not that great for wet hair, but it's ALL RIGHT on dry hair (whether blown out to twist it or just a small fro) It can get GREASY, so no need to apply this more than 2x a week MAX. If you style your hair constantly and can't imagine unstretched hair, this is a cheap alternative to a styling cream. if you're like me, and DON'T really touch your hair after washing/conditioning it...it really just sits on top of the hair.
I love this product because it defines my curls and make's my hair really soft. I'm new to the natural thing so its something quick and easy that I use. I also like the fact that it smells delicious, comes in large amount for a small price and it never dry out my scalp.
I use this product when my hair is wet and I let it air dry. The product makes my hair really soft. But I use it in addition to a defining cream. Cantu keeps my hair mosturized, soft and it helps detangle while the other product defines my curls. I recently tried the leave-in cream on my daughters(dry) hair after shampooing. It made it real soft. But once I blow-dried it --it bacame hard and stiff:( I wanna try to shampoo and conditioner. A co-worker said it works great. No complaints here!!! A jar last a really long time...
I really liked it, it helped define the curls in my twa and smelled great. plus you can't really beat the price. The only thing it was missing was a little bit of shine since it can dry a bit dull. Add your favorite oil on top and you're ready to go
I Lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvethis. Once you but it on your hair, your can feel it softening you hair. It reallly defines you curls, and the y last a lot longer. The best!!!!!
I love this conditioner. My daughter has 3c hair and it works really well to keep it moist and seperate her curls. My hair is 3c/4a/4b (I know a lot of combos) and it works really well to keep it soft. I would not add it if I were wearing my hair straight because it is heavy. But it works reall well while curly.
First of all can I say that I love the price of this 16oz product!. I had been curly for awhile and been using alot of different curly creams with only a few success's. When family told me about this product I was skeptical. Why is it so cheap if it works so good?, Well I finally decided to reach deep for the 5 bucks;) and was happiily surprised to find it left my hair soft and my curls bouncy and feeling moisturized. Now it doesnt give me the curl definiton I get from curly creams that are more expensive, but for the price it works great for everyday wash and go styling and I use it as curling cream. So if your on a budget yor getting more than what your paying for.
I have tried so many products and this is one of the best I have 4a hair and it makes my hair, soft, manageable and it smells AMAZING!
I really like this product. When I asked my friends for an inexpensive conditioner to help put my hair into a puff, I had several people tell me about Cantu. It smells great. When I use it on my wet hair, it detangles and I am able to pull my hair back with no problem. When my hair is dry, I use a lot more to moisten my hair, but I am still able to slick it back into my puff. I have also used this on a twist out. I used about a palm-full and spread it all over my damp hair. My twists were soft and moisturized. This is a nice product if you are on a budget and have 4b hair.
I love this stuff ! I dont need to use that much to get curl definition. And it is super cheap. Five bucks, doesnt get better than that.
I couldnt afford Kinky Curly and someone suggest this...it worked good for the most part...the smell isnt bad and my hair was mositurized....it did cause shrinkage but its only $5 dollars so you cant have the best of both worlds...overall i like it and will continue to use is every blue moon because im trying to go cg and it does have a silicone...
This product has the consistency of a thicker version of cottage cheese. It spreads and pentetrates the hair quicker when it is wet or damp. However, because I don't wash my hair all the time, it does become sort of a fuss getting this stuff to penetrate my hair as quickly as I would like it to in the morning. Also, I did unfortunately find that this product gives my hair a fair amount of buildup which I don't care for. The best thing about this product is that it does add definition to the hair and it does offer a decent amount of moisturization to the hair. So, these are the only two reasons why I decided to rate this product a 2.
i LOVE the way this product makes my hair look and feel, but something abuot the smell really bothers me. can't really put my finger on it, but it's just not right.
This cream was to heavy for my 3b curls. I found using a little on my ends made them feel much softer.
