My hair type is 4a. Ok, the SMELL of this product - nauseating. I thought people were exaggerating when they said they got a headache from it. The fumes made me dizzy as I was twisting and I had to sit down for awhile and stop using it. I did the whole other side of my hair with something else. The hold was ok. Not unlike other prods I can get for cheaper. Also, it did NOT mix well with the moisturizer I put underneath it. It curdled into tiny white balls. They can keep this product. NEVER again.

I really didn't want to like this product because of the price. Unfortunately, this product is AMAZING. (I bought it during the bogo sale) It smells great, elongates my 3c curls (That have crazy shrinkage) and completely eliminates frizz. My curls are almost too defined. The bonus? It dries soft and my curls are plump...without frizz. This is pudding is too good. And now...I'll be forced to buy more :) Luckly you don't need a ton of the product for it to do its job. Love it!

I absolutely hated this product. It left my hair hard and flaky. I actually brought this product because I had the curly Meringue, which I absolutely love , but the curly meringue makes my hair hard but i love the results. Some idiot recommended that I try the curly pudding instead. I hate it! It made my hair harder than the meringue did.

This is the reason I can't be totally CG. I can load up my hair with gels, creams, butters, oils, etc. but I can't emulate the look I get with curly pudding in just one step. The texture is nice and thick, no half a**ing here. My curls come out defined, shiny, clumpy, and springy. It also smells great. I would suggest using a good moisturizing leave in under this though because its not really super moisturizing. Still, this is one of my favorite curly hair products.

I used this product once for a two strand twist out on wet type 4b? hair. The smell is strong and candy-like. The definition for the twists was excellent! They were very shrunken which I think is simply the nature of my hair. My hair felt very soft. The results lasted several days with minimal maintenance. I did wash and deep condition my hair first, then applied my leave in. I took the twists down with my usual moisturizer which is what I do no matter what product I use. I liked my results. If you are a stickler for "all natural" then this isn't the product for you. If you have kinky hair and want good definition for you twist outs--try it!

I did some 2 strand twist and I've tried a lot of products and this was the best I've had for this hair style. The way the lady on the Miss Jessies video looks is exactly how mine came out!! I don't like my hair too soft when doing this style because I want it to last longer than one day!! However I did start off with this product thinking I could do the wet and go look. After that didn't work out I started twisting it. I guess I'll try the Quick curls for that style!!

This is EXTREMELY drying on naked hair! I can only use this on top of a water spritz, leave in conditioner, and sealing product like coconut oil or something similar. When I do use this it is as somewhat of a gel to define my waves or crimps from two strand twist outs, flat twist outs or braid outs (corn rows). During these times I make sure to apply it to the about 1cm (completely guessing!) from my scalp and stop about 1 - 2 in. before my ends. I make sure not to get the product near my scalp and def. not near my ends. When I use it in this way it does exactly what I need, adds definition without completely drying out my already dry hair. So I give this product a 1 for use as instructed...on naked hair...but a 4 when used over moisturized, sealed hair avoiding your scalp and ends. Also use a little at first, about a nickel sized amount in your hand then rub your palms together and distribute on your sectioned hair (for twists, braids, etc). It's always better to not add enough than to add too much. If anyone has any other moisturizing products they use it with please post. (I use Giovanni Leave In Conditioner as a leave-in, and Vatika coconut oil or Carol's Daughter Mimosa Honey as sealant.

I was really hesitant to try the curly pudding because it contains a lot of ingredients I try to stay away from. However, I had been on a healthy ingredient kick for 6 months, and I wasn't getting the results that I wanted. In other words, my hair and scalp were not acting right! I had a sample pack of the curly pudding, decided to try it, and I really like it. My tips are: use on damp, moisturized (over your leave-in), hair--not wet hair. Also, I thought that the scent was pretty strong, so I decided to see if THEY MAKE UNSCENTED and they do!!! So, I ordered that. This is one of those tricky products that you have to figure out how to use on YOUR hair; it will give you "the whites" if you're not careful. I gave this 4 curls because of the ingredients, but I think this will be a keeper! Just in case it doesn't show up on the review, I have 4a hair.

I bought the sample pack from the Miss Jessie's website. This product left me the most disappointed. First off, all of MJ products are heavily perfumed. I found this particular product's scent to be a little too much for me. The Curly Pudding was easy to apply and I liked the consistency but it seemed like even before my hair was dry it was hardening up. It left my hair very stiff with tiny white flakes. It didn't define or create any curls at all. I will never purchase this product again.

Hi Curlies, I've used Miss Jessies CP for over 5 years, on relaxed hair and now my Natural Hair. My hair type is 3C. I noticed that using too much of this product produced extra shrinkage and a crunchy feel (on my hair). I've learned that "LESS IS MORE". Using this to shingle lightly, produced soft fluffy pretty curls with my Wash n Go. It is heavy and controls frizz well. Works great to produce curls on processed hair, using a two strand twist, bantu knot or braid out.

The thing i really liked about this product was the hold it provided on my flat two strand twist out. It kept my usually very frizzy ends to a minimum. This product is awesome, my hair was always dry dry dry and every product I would purchase from cheap to ridiculously expensive did not work and to make matters worse I was still relaxing my hair, so when I finally went el natural a lot of website and videos suggested natural products so I did it and miss jessies...... rocks! Now for those complaining about mineral oil, its like one of the last listed ingredients I believe (I am awaiting a new shipment, just ran out) so it being one of last listed ingredients means there is not as much as you think there would be and also IT IS NOT TO BE USED DAILY the website clearly states this baby buttercream is for daily maintenance the day after you apply curly pudding.

This was the very first product I used when I big chopped in June of '09. I was disappointed when I first big chopped and learned my hair in fact would not look like Tracee Ellis Ross! However, do not despair, Curly pudding will give even the tightest coils a nice and pretty curly definition. This product saved me during my first year of law school because I would wash, condition, throw this stuff in and it would do its thing. I'm not giving 5 stars b/c it takes a while to absorb unless you sit under heat which I do not want to nor have time to do with my busy schedule, and the smell is intense! I love sweet smelling stuff but this stuff is too much. And surprisingly, "unscented" curly pudding stinks too! It smells like a sterile hospital room or something! Yuck!

I've been experimenting with this product on my 4a TWA hair for a couple of weeks now. I generally like it for weekend styling but not M-F when I need wash and wear hair. I think I have figured out a few things. 1. It works like a curl elongating creamy gel, because it defines, elongates, and holds the curl. 2. When it is completely dry (and this takes quite a long time, 1-2 hours) it can be crunchy in places. 3. Also, on short hair, you may be able to keep your style more than one day by adding a little steam and water each morning. However, the white build up could happen after day two or three. It must be allowed to dry completely in order not see white product sitting on top of your curls. 4. This stuff is really overpriced especially since it is not "natural"

I'm going to give this product 4 curls. It did provide great curls, after I took down the flat twists my beautician did. However, on the 2nd day, I noticed I had white flakes in my hair-not cool. But, it served it's purpose, and did what it was supposed to do I guess. I don't purchase Miss Jessie's per se, because they're not natural products. And I'm trying to follow a natural lifestyle. However, if you don't care about those types of things, then this is a pretty decent product.

Well it did not work well and to me does not work on very short curly hair. Now that my hair is longer and I know the way my hair curls. This product works well on my hair at a setting lotion for my flat twist out. I usally will us a little on each twist. I let the twist set up for about a day before I take them out. My curls come out great. I also do not use a lid full of product at a time either. I use about a quarter of the lid for my hair length.

I'm a curly guy and I've really been struggling to find products that really work with my ridiculously thick multi-textured hair. CP is def a great addition to my line up. Previously, I had been using KC Curling Custard which gave me pretty good results but did not have enough weight for my thick (and growing hair) so I thought that I would give CP a try. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and I'm pretty pleased with the results. I get well defined and soft curls and frizz is almost non-existent. I do experience a little shrinkage and dryness at the end of the day but that is probably made worse by the current weather up here. The consistency is a perfect fit for my hair and I just hoarded a few jars for the next few months. I'm not crazy about some of the ingredients but I have to say "the proof is in the pudding."

I suppose I shouldn't like this product because it has mineral oil in it, but I have to say my hair looks OUTSTANDING when I use it. Where I live, the weather is now cold and dry, and nothing seems to make my fine, dry, 3b ringlets look alive and full and shiny (all day long!) except for this product. I've tried SO many things--high end, low end, all-natural, chock full of chemicals, natural oils, proteins, leave-ins, deep hydrators, sheeeesh.... Curly Pudding is the first product that actually makes my hair look sensational during the worst season for my hair. The mineral oil washes out if I wash my hair twice with a sulfate shampoo, and then I use a really good conditioner. I haven't been using Curly Pudding every day because I'm afraid my hair won't get enough moisture (mineral oil creates a barrier against just about everything). But when I really need to look great, I plan to use this stuff. I gave it 4 curls instead of 5 because I’m worried about it =D.

This product is less than mediocore. I have 4b 4a hair. I have tried it a couple of times with less than great results. The first time I used it was for a twist out I was left with a greasy residue on my hair for days. Plus I didn't care for the smell. It is a little too strong. The second time I Used it for a wash n'go. After it dried my Kinks had not turned into curls. I was left with dried out, stiff hair. It was not great with curl definition, or elongation and did nothing for shine and I still had frizz. Especially for the price, i would expect to be blown away by the results, even if it had cost half of the original price I would not have been satisfied with the results. It is very misleading in the product description and hair type it is intended for. ALso the website with all the pictures of before and afters also misinforms customers with kinky type 4 hair that buy the product expecting similar results, because most of the models featured their have a silkener, which is basicly a texturizer, and are not wearing natural hair. This did not deliver on it's promise and misleads customers into thinking they will have simular results to those on the website after using the product on natural hair. I would definetly not in a million years repurchase this, and would not reccommend or encourage friends to purchase this product.

This product works! It defined my curls well in both twists and wash and go. I did have a few issues though. First, I had to walk around smelling like grape Jolly Ranchers all day, and I would rather not. Second, it did flake up a bit when I added a moisturizer on the second or third day. The flakes weren't visible, but it felt atrocious. Third, some of the ingredients are unpronounceable. You can get the same curl hold and definition from some other products without having to put mystery goo in your hair. Oh, and you definitely need to put a leave in underneath because otherwise your hair will feel dry and crispy. (But this is true of many stylers.)

This product is very heavy and takes a while to dry. Until its dry, it's very visible on the hair, so a wash and go look is not the best for this product. I like the smell of this product but that too is heavy or strong so it may be a little too "sweet" for some. Gives nice definition and elongation though.

My hair drank up this scrumptious formula of a product :-) To be frank, and completely to the point, I wasn't really expecting much from the Curly Pudding, especially since the results I attained using the curly Meringue weren't exactly that great at all. I've been looking for a replacement for Kinky Curly Curling Custard, so I tried the CP. KCCC leave my hair shiny, hydrated, and simply beautiful, but it dries very hard (no matter how little I use) and it doesn't allow my hair the volume I want WITHOUT the help of a diffuser. The ingredients in comparison to the KCCC in the CP aren't all that natural, so I wonder what might be the long term effects, but I did attain touchable, naturally movable, and chic hair. It did a great job without the help of a diffuser.

I have to give this product 2 thumbs up with a 4 star because it delivers great moisture to my curls and didn't leave a crunchy feeling or flaky residue. I recommend using Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding to anyone who is transitioning from relaxed to naturally. To get maximum potential make sure your hair is super wet from a wash and conditioning because this product will form the high definition curls you want when your hair is saturated. I hope there be many others that are satisfied with this product. Don't forget to try the Miss Jessies SweetBack Conditioner with this product, these two combined will bring you soft cottoned feel hair with a great edible smell. ;-)

It's OK... You definitely have to watch the water to product ratio. If your hair isn't almost dripping, your hair will be crunchy/stiff if you use too much. It took my hair two hours and 45 min to dry under the dryer using the recommended amt. for fingerstyling.

when i first started using this product it was the very beginning of my natural journey and it's great for your hair when it's short, and you need to do a twist out and want it smoothe without frizz. I pin curled it and slept on it, took it out in the morning, added Curly Buttercreme, untwisted it and it was just what I wanted!

I really like this product. I'm not understanding how this received bad reviews, however, it varies from person to person. It works well w/ my hair when I do twist or just let it hair dry/use the bonnet dryer to process & brings my curls into better form. I'm not sure if those who were dissatisfied followed the instructions or watched the "how to" videos provided on the website. But people can be picky or different when it comes to hair care products.

These are the CURRENT ingredients of the Curly Pudding: water, parafinium liquidum, glycerin, triethanolamine, fragrance, carbomer, PEG-12 dimethicone, dipropylene glycol, silk amino acids, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, avocado oil, shea butter, sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil, macademia seed oil, oleth05, ethylhexyl methoxycinnanate, disodium EDTA, DMDM hydantion, ext. violet 2 Notice that the number two ingredient is Parafinium Liquidum which is just a fancy name for Two Words: MINERAL OIL. I know they sponsor the website and everything but unless Curl Mart is selling old product, I feel like it's downright untruthful to market this with the old (healthier) ingredients. I can't believe people are still paying top dollar for trumped up Pink Hair Oil. Disappointed in the site, to say the least.

I used to be madly in love with this product. When I first went natural and wanted curls I found this and was extremely happy. Well, I did notice the flaking when it was dry and it does not have th touchable softness I was yearning for. I did some research and found out it has mineral oil in it and how damaging that is to black hair. I was started using other products that I wasn't aware of initially and have since switched. Will not be going back since I've tried products that have all natural ingredients and no mineral or petroleum oil. very disappointed.

I tried this product on my hair which already has defined curls and I have to say I didnt care for it that much! I have pretty fine hair and I just feel that this product weighed it down a lot and also left a film over my hair that i could feel everytime i touched it or even added water to it, the film would not come off unless i washed my hair! I dont think this product is bad if your using it as a setting product to do braids or twist. There are mixed reviews about it but i think it just depends on your hair type. It works great on thicker course hair i believe! I love the scent of it though!

this worked ok but im not going to spend $40 on a product that just works ok. Provided okay curl definition, about as good as my IC Fantasia. But unlike my IC Fantasia this took forever to dry and didnt provide second day hair. You also have to use a lot of the product to achieve the desired result, like almost half the jar for longer/thicker hair. The only thing that i liked was that it left soft curls unlike most gels that leave crunchy curls. I wouldnt repurchase.

This product has worked better for me compared to other products. Is kinda pricy, but was successful in doing my 2x twistout. Fragrance is decent. Used the Baby Buttercreme afterwards to maintain the moisture. Did notice a little residue at first, but wasn't that bad. Just need more moisture, my hair is dry possible from applying heat/pressing previously from twisting my hair.

The Best of them all to me. My hair is 4b/c. I have 2 grades. In the top its more loose wavy while the rest is tight and curly/coily. My barber says it a medium grade, what ever that is. But this curly pudding works great when I do 2 strand twist. I put it in only every 2 days because it can get a little tacky if I use it to much in a week. It does give definition and I know they says sit under a dryer after applying, but to me it works just as well if you have the time to let it air dry.

Someone shoulde reupdate this product info. The ingridience have changed - they have been substituted by cheaper stuff. Now it is just an awful product with the same high price. I used the Baby Curly Pudding and was a fan at first. Then, I began to get tired of the residue and it wouldn't last very long when in my hair (3 days at most). Unfortunately for me, I need to use a lot in order to get the look I wanted. And, with the container being small and the price being high, I eventually stopped using it.

I used Miss Jessie's curly pudding (scented) and had an allergic reaction to it. I got hives everywhere the pudding or my hair touched. My whole face,my shoulders, neck, ears, everywhere. In all my 20 years of using thousands of products, I've never had a reaction to any of them. I looked at the ingredients and there were a few things that I have never seen before, probably one of those items did it. So test it first ladies.

I just bought the Unscented MJ Curly Pudding over the weekend. I was hesitant because I've bought other MJ products and didn't like them and plus they're overpriced. I was very surprised at this morning when I took down my 2-strand twists. My curls are defined, soft, and have moisture. I have 3c, 4a, and 4b curls and kinks. I did use a leave in conditioner and water mix before I applied the curly pudding. I didn't notice any flakes or product residue. I would buy this product again and recommend trying it. It's the only MJ product I use.

I tried this product on a twist out. It smelled great and it felt good on my hair. I was ready to see how my twists would be after it set. I liked how springy and defined they were. My hair was shiny and not hard. I liked how my hair turned out. Now, the reason I am giving this 3 curls instead of 4 is because I do not like the residue on my hair. It's like little dandruff balls and I just washed my hair. Now maybe I used too much on my hair and that's the reason for it. So if you try this be aware of that. You hair will be moisturized, but the residue might make you want to wash your hair and not put any of this product on. I'll try less on my hair next time and hope that the residue is not there.

I just realized the ingredients listed here are the old ingredients. I think I would have really liked the old formula!! But the new formula dried out my 3C curls and left them feeling residuey. I don't think my hair agrees with the mineral oil, which is #2 on the ingredient list after water. I had such high hopes, but was very disappointed with this product. I agree with the sentiment...MJ please bring the old formula back!! Luckily I only bought the 2oz sample jar. Though I'm glad to see in the reviews that some curlies are getting good results. It all depends on your hair type I guess.

The ingredients that are listed on NaturallyCurly is the old formula. The one that I at one point LOVED. It turned my 4A hair into shiny plump curls every time. But the new formula is trash!! One of the main ingredient is parafinium liquidum. Which is a fancy word for Mineral Oil. A product known to leave 4a hair dry as a brick. Then they have the nerves to charge close to $40 for this mess. A $40 bottle of baby oil is what is it. Miss Jessie's please bring back the old formula.

My daughter is a 3c, very thick and long with tangling issues :(. After trying the BBC (successfully), I decided to try the curly pudding. The shingling method did not work for her as it elongated the curl slightly, but ended up more frizzy and "crunchy" than I had hoped. The second time, I used the pudding for the wet twist-out. It turned out with a soft, well-defined and bouncy curl. The drawback is that my 2 oz jar is all gone after two uses and the product is a little pricey. However, I am thankful for sites and products like these that offer practical and effective advise for those with curly hair.

WHAT HAPPENED?!! I used to LOVE this product. But when I stocked up last year during the BOGOF promotion, I ended up with 8 jars of a cream that I absolutely cannot use now because it DRIES MY HAIR OUT! I used to get soft, plump, fluffy, shiny, well-defined, beautiful curls that garnered me compliment after compliment. But now I get dry, dull, stringy, untouchable curls that I'm ashamed to wear out. So I had to stop using this product. Very disappointing!! Please MJ, go back to the formulation that gives soft, shiny curls, not this drying, damaging formulation!!

First of all, I have to start by mentioning the strong scent of the product. I love to wear perfume, and with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, any perfume you wear would be masked by the strong odor of this product. The other thing is that when I touch my hair it feels sticky-almost like there's sugar in it. The curls were defined well and it did stretch my curls slightly, but overall, this product only gets two curls for my 3b hair. Did I mention that it's way too expensive?

I applied this product to my naturally curly hair. I do not like the over-powering fragrance of this product! (grape). I let my hair air dry and I have shrinkage and a little frizz. My hair is dry and is not moist. Do I now need to apply buttercream everyday? I guess to achieve the great looks on their website you have to visit their salon. I wanted a product that I can maintain my own natural hair at home without visiting a salon. I will stick to a gel product.

Great for defining my 4A curls and stretching them (somewhat), but loses a lot of points for 1. its hideous smell, 2. the fact that you have to use it in conjunction with the Buttercream, 3. the long drawn out application process and that one's hair has to be soaking wet, and 4. the ridiculous price. I will only use it when I'm at a loose end (meaning: when I'm out of all of my other products and this is the only one in the bathroom cabinet!)

I was wary of this product due to the high price and love it/hate it reviews. But, as much as my wallet hates it, I adore this product. My hair spans across all types of 3 and 4 and the pudding did wonders for each type. I used it for finger coils and the product left my hair soft and shiny with great definition. I had no crunch or flakes. I applied the product on soaking wet hair before bed and it was still damp in places 8 hours later. Next time, I will try a dryer. I'm newly natural so I can't say whether or not the product is worth the price. I'm going to try IC gel this weekend to see if it will do the same job for a fraction of the price. If not, I'm willing to pay the price for the great results.

The smell is embarrassingly distracting. Seriously, I'd be out and about and dodging and ducking from people. K, that aside, it is too heavy and leaves hair stringy and crunchy when dry. I recently resurrected it after a year and a half of not using it. I now use it for two strand twist; the key is to mix it with some sort of oil and you won’t get that stringy/crunchy effect.

I ordered this for my daughter's dry, unruly kinky 3c/4a curls and I love it. Prior to using this product, I would wash and do 2-strand twists then take down within a day or two and she would still have this nappy, dry, fro look! It was still kinda cute but I wanted more definition in the curls from the twists and some shine. And WOW does the curly pudding make a difference. I followed the directions on the website to a T for the 2 strand twist by saturating her wet hair with the pudding before twisting and it stayed moist most of the way thru until I got to the top. When it dried a little, I would spray a little water on her hair to reactivate the pudding and I wouldn't have to use any other product. When I took it down the next day she had so much curl definition. They curls were a really pretty deep ringlet. It looked beautiful and smelled great! I don't use it as a daily regimen though! I ONLY use the pudding after I wash it and I use other products like the Miss Jessie's buttercream or Oyin's whipped pudding to keep it maintained and moisturized throughout the week. Also, I twist it back up every other night until i rewash after 1 week. I recommend this for any frustrated mother struggling to find something to tame their child's natural hair without putting a perm on. If this doesn't work, because we all know that no one thing works for everyone, keep trying! Do more research! My goodness I have tried many products. There is something out there to help but thankfully for me and hopefully for you, Miss Jessie's is it!

I LOVE this product. It really is the best darn curl creme period...well so far. This styling product can be used a gel for frizzy edges and defines curls like a mousse. I love the smell. The reason I give it a 3 is because in order to keep your hair soft you have to apply a dime to quarter size amount of oil to your hair first and it is too expensive for amount you have to use because my hair is THICK and COARSE 3B. I hated this product! I tried it many ways before I gave it up natural, two strand twist etc. It made my hair natural hair flaky with white spots when it dried. It does not work for the Phila humidity. Its too thick for my already natural thick kinky hair and didnt help elongate my curl pattern. I let my mom use it, who's hair is also natural but wavier and limp but it did the same for her. I'd like to try the other products on the line someday, but for now I'm stuck on kinky curly curling custard!

Good Product for curl definition, but my 4a hair was left a bit stiff. You have to use a good bit and it has a tendancy to take a long time to dry and it flakes. I would say that if you are going to use a dryer this product is great, but for air drying regular old curl activator will give you softer, similar curls.

Great product - I guess the company heard complaints about the strong scent so now they offer an unscented version. Works best for me when I apply a little of my conditioner to my hair first (I use KeraCare's Humecto creme conditioner on my 4a hair). This the only leave-in product that i think has worked the BEST for my 3b/3c hair. I followed directions and let airdry, my hair was frizz-free, soft, and felt smooth and healthier. It has a strong grape smell to it which is okay. And for my second-day hair all I do is add alcohol-free gel and it makes my hair shine and still keeps the frizz away! I live by this stuff. I've never found a product before where all I do is put it in and I'm done. I can let my hair air dry and everyone thinks I have gorgeous hair (trust me, it looks completely different without the pudding). Also, it smells fantastic. If you're hair is closer to wavy, like mine, just put leave a little conditioner in when you rinse, and work some pudding in. Don't dry it with a towel, just scrunch and blow dry so it's not dripping. After that I can let it air dry and there's NO FRIZZ! (unless I drive with the windows down when it's still wet :)

This gave me 1980s stringy, fluffy waves. The stringiness started at the roots and continued down to about 2" from the ends where my hair became very fluffy and airy/inflated. I was careful to use a small amount too. Since my curls were enlongated into waves, this is too heavy for me.
