I really love the smell of this product (kind of a lemon-ginger - refreshing to get away from all the coconut/fruit smells). Despite having 'cones, it does a very good job. I tried it with just a leave-in and it worked well, but when I did my full routine (leave-in, creme, a little gel, and diffuse) my curls were bouncy, full of life, and held. It was awesome.
My hair is type 2b. It's really thick with loose s-shaped waves. With scrunching and product I can create tighter and more defined waves, some of which even spiral kind of like curls. I used this product on my damp hair and scrunched it in really well. My waves looked defined and enhanced when I went out that night. The problem is 2nd day hair. I wake up and my hair has dropped significantly. I can't really dampen it and apply more product because it will weigh my hair down. So this only works for me if I'm showering and then going out in like 2 hours.
This stuff does an awesome job as far as holding your hairstyle and frizz BUT it is FULL of silicone's! if you are CG, do not use it because it will coat your hair
One of Miss Jessie's Best product's I give it 3 out of 5 for the price range, it helped to dry my curls quicker nice definition, smell was way better than most of her products not as strong, but after I ran out I did not and wont be repurchasing, not really worth the price.
2nd time around...looking for a leave-in, I ran across this in the back of my product cabinet (don't judge me). Didn't care for it when I first purchased last year, thats why it was way, way, in the back of my stash. I gave it another try and it worked great! I used the LCOS (liquid, cream, oil, styler) method with SheaMoisture leave-in, Wild Growth Oil (I've got to use this oil up-don't like the smell), and Quick Curls. My curls were moisturized, soft, and bouncy. I may not repurchase because of the cost but it works really well.
I love Miss Jessie's Quick Curls is defines my curls I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends
This is an excellent product. Holds like a gel and works very well when difusing my hair. My routine would consist of co-washing, applying conditioner and rinsing out, then raking though a leave in like Shea Moisture Yucca and Aloe Thickening Milk and scrunching this in. I love, love, love it. Only problem is it's FULL of silicones. It would be ok to use if you are using a sulfate free shampoo but this product caused a ton of buildup in my hair since I only use a sulfate free shampoo once a week. I don't want to wash my hair too much and this product would make me do that. Great product and great hold but the silicones are the reason why I only gave it 2 stars. If you are not using the CG method then this is definitely for you
This product smells good and it does give a very tight curl quickly. I will buy it again. Love that it is not greasy.
3a/b, coarse, medium-low porosity, curls can get mellow or limp in low dew points, dryness causes frizz... If you're like me and glycerin wreaks havoc on your hair during dry weather, you'll want to give this a try. When I first began using this product I thought it was average, but the more I use it, the more I love it. I'd written a review on Naturallycurly giving this 3 stars, but now I wish I could edit that review. This is truly a 5 star gem; now that I know how to use it. (Hint: watch the video on Miss Jessie's website). This is one of the best products I've found to use for both creating definition and holding definition, in my arid climate. It does not get crunchy or flaky! It seems to seal moisture over my hair strands, keeping them from poofing in the dry air. The secret for getting this to work best for me is not to worry about putting in too much. This does not weigh down hair or get oily. I had been treating it like a gel or a custard, but this is closer to a lotion. When it's raked throughout SMALL sections of wet hair, it's amazing. This isn't a product that can be scrunched in on the top layer or spread over hair in the "ponytail application". When it's really raked down the length of small portions of hair, it creates outstanding definition and surprisingly good hold. It can be used a couple of times a day, and as a refresher product for 2nd/3rd day hair. It has virtually zero build-up, it's not sticky in the least, and it's good at keeping frizz at bay. I like the scent, too - it's a citrus, spa-like, woody fragrance. This works beautifully over my leave-in conditioners. A new favorite method of mine is to apply Pillow Soft Curls on soaking wet hair after a cleanse, and then use Quick Curls throughout the week as a refresher on dampened hair. Quick Curls really does dry quickly, making it one of the few products I can use in the morning on damp hair and expect to have my hair dry within and hour or two. Great product!
Unfortunately, this doesn't do much for my 3b/a curls. It does dry faster than any other curl cream I've tried, I'll give it that! Other than the relatively quick dry time, though, this doesn't do anything special enough to make me want to put so many silicones, plus glycerin, in my hair all at once. Before I tried Quick Curls, it had been literally years since my hair had experienced cyclomethicone or cyclohexasiloxane or so many commercial ingredients. I have Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft Curls Cream, and it does wonderful things for my hair. It makes it so soft, bouncy, and frizz-less, and it works as an overnight moisturizer. So I decided to try Quick Curls, and, for my hair, this is not in the same high category as Pillow Soft. While Pillow Soft is for big curls (seriously, I get a completely different style from my usual with it), Quick Curls is for tight curls. It separates and defines so much, my canopy looks stringy at first. It makes my curls shrink, and they look like I had 4 inches of hair cut off. When you tell straight-haired people, "No I didn't get a haircut, I used a different curl cream," they look at you with suspicion, and they wonder why you're lying to them. Or, "No my hair doesn't grow 4 inches overnight, I used a different curl cream," they think a wig is involved, somehow. With Quick Curls I get tight, short, very defined, super shiny curls, at stage one. About two hours go by and hair shifts into stage two: the curls are elongating, the canopy is starting to fluff, re-wetting lightly with water can reign it back in. An hour later loss of definition is gone the canopy is mostly poof, ends feel crusty. Time to re-wet hair and scrunch in more Quick Curls. The curls bounce nicely into spirals. They dry quickly, and they a nice tropical ginger, lime, and honeysuckle fragrance. If you don't mind carrying this with you, it good for getting your hair back in line.
Just realized that this has silicones in it. Since I am on the CG method I now have to use shampoo to get it out. Before I noticed the cones in it I tried to co wash it out but it barely washed out at all product.was completely.left on hair and caused tangles. The smell is also horrid smells like generic candy or something. However it did define my curls just as well as any gel but it has a little crunch to it.
Where has this been hiding all my life?!? After years of going through products that left me frizzy/crunchy/greasy, I finally found the perfect one. It gives great definition; my curls actually bounce (!) and are shiny (!!). The product has a nice smell, but it doesn't overpower or linger. I had sticker shock on the price, but once I saw how awesome it was...worth every penny. I know not all products work for all people. I'm just happy that I have finally found "it."
I've been using this for a few months now, alternating with another product, and I have generally been pleased. Scrunching this into my 2c/3a hair gives good cul definition. There's a bit of crunch, but it scrunched out easily and my hair is soft and frizz free. It doesn't give me much in the way of second day hair, but neither does anything else. I plan to try other curl creams, but I could eventually see myself buying this again.
This is my all-time favorite product. I use it alone, create a hair cocktail with some of my other favorites, and I know that it is going to work. My hair always looks good, and it is strong enough to hold my hair, but not hard or cracky to touch. Love it love it.
I am really surprised that this product doesn't have an overall 5 star rating. I have a mixture of 3b, 3c hair. Mostly 3c at the center of my head. This is my go to product for styling. I've tried many of other products (as most of us curly girls do, trying to see if another product works better, last longer, gives more definition, etc.) however this is the only product that does not ever disappoint. The smell of this product is not at all strong. It is just a hint and smells lovely to me. Not flowery...not like chemicals...just a good overall smell. My hair goes down to the middle of my back and the $32 bottle lasts me between 2-3 months. If this product is used correctly, I believe it does wonders. A little goes a long way. I personally feel like that the thickest of hair this product works well for is 3c. As long as MJ keeps this product in their line and doesn't screw with the ingredients...I'm a forever customer. :)
HANDS DOWN THE BEST PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED!!!!!!!!!!! this is the first time that i have found sumthing that mabe my curls look so amazing WITHOUT crunch and NO FRIZZ! i am amazed my brother bought this product for me yesturday and im not giving i up.... the price is hurtin and im a teen still looking for a job but this product is worth it
I initially bought this, along with Mixed Chicks to use on my 3c/4a hair and they both worked well. QC is a bit greasier and tends to weigh hair down a bit, which is actually good for my hair. Then I got a Brazilian Keratin Treatment (yeah, I know) - and my 3c/4b has become a 2b, more wavy than curly. Now the QC works wonderfully while the Mixed Chicks seems to leave my hair too dry and prone to tangling. The QC locks in the waves without dragging them down and keeps my hair shiny, conditioned, and natural looking. The BKT dried out my hair and the QC adds a nice amount of moisture and slip. My big objection to QC is the price - it really is excessive, so I scour eBay and BOGO sales for it.
Currently my go to product. Not only does this product quickly curl but it works all around. Just as the curly head said below me "a little goes a long way." I have 3c textured hair and I absolutely love thewaythis product takes to my hair. It looks like a lotion and feels like it penetrates my hair, not just sits on top of it. It defines my curls perfectly and smells lovely! This product works well if you defuse or air dry. I have tried it both ways. I can get day 2 hair and someti es even day 3 hair and that's saying a lot with my hair. I absolutely recommend this product.
Hi Curlies, Once again, with all Miss Jessies Products "Less is More". This stuff is great for a quick style and go in a hurry. Works best on my hair after a clean wash, lite leave in, then I add two dime sized amounts into my hand and lightly shingle it into my hair. If you over use this, your hair may have super shrinkage and a crunchy feeling once it dries. It works better on looser curls or waves. It has a medium hold. I used it on my sister's 4b hair, and it did not like it at all, left white flakes and a crunchy feeling. -Samii
I ♥ this product! Apply to saturated hair and your curls will form and define instantly. Talk about spirally spirals! My hair is very spirally so the only thing I hate is the shrinkage from any product I use. However, this instant spiral magic potion is my favorite of Miss Jessie's.
Didn't do for my hair! So lightweight and y curls shrunk up anyway!! Sigh...good thing I did not buy this with my
Like it. If don't have define curls already then, this product is not for you. I have 4a hair and applied it while my hair was almost dripping wet. That seem to work for me.
I agree with one of the previous comments. This is good for those who have a strong curl definition already without products. There's no hold and it leaves your hair feeling dry. You have to use this with a leave in. This is not for kinky curly hair. I have 3c/4a hair. My hair was left poofy and dry. I only tried it bc taren said it was good. Only if you add a whole bunch of other stuff with. Not good by itself.
Love this stuff. Got a giant bottle from Target. Gives good curl definition and 2nd day hair (scrunch with wet hands in shower on 2nd day.) I apply it in the shower after shampoo & conditioner and rake it through my soaking wet hair (avoid the scalp - it can flake on 2nd day.) Then scrunch with a tee-shirt and put a few clips in the top to give it some lift. Works great air drying or diffusing.
I just tried this product yesterday and so far so good. Although my hair didn't try any faster than normal, I still ended up with soft, shiny, bouncy curls. Nice light scent and light hold. I was hoping for more body, but over all this was a pretty good product. I have it four stars because it was $32 for an 8oz tube! Jeesh!
So far so Good, I have 3b/3c combo fine hair, All can say is WOW. I washed my hair used Aussie 3 minute miracle and rinsed with cool water then added the quick curls after combing with a wide tooth comb. WOW my Hair instantly turned into spiral curls all over my head. I will update when my hair has completely dries but so far I am in LOVE
Pros: Shiny curls that last. Cons: Product-y feel, no hold, and very expensive. I would recommend it for 3B and higher (i.e. people who already have great curl definition)... if your curl pattern is looser like mine, you'll probably be disappointed at the lack of hold... and it's too expensive not to use alone. I returned mine!
I actually did a video review of this product. I liked it and I liked that it gave me second day hair. I used it alone and it worked well. I only gave it 4 stars because it is expensive. Check out my video. Here is the link
This gave me very good natural soft curl definition but no hold. If I mess to much with my hair it will frizz a bit. So, I add a small amount of the Stretch Silkening Creme and coconut oil on top of it and I get shiny beautiful touchable curls that last. The smell is an odd floral scent, but a light one. This is a light but expansive creme, a little goes a long way if the hair is damp enough.
I really like this stuff! Its one of the best products I used for my curls. Its not greasy, I don't have to reapplly during the day, and it dries pretty fast. Ive got to say this product is really expenive and I bid and won this on ebay. Would I buy this full price.. probably.
I was soooo disappointed with this product!! After reading the reviews on here, which were good and bad, I decided to buy it along with Miss Jessie’s cleansing shampoo and the conditioner. I drove an hour out of my way to the only target that sold it in my area (I was too impatient to order it online). This product, although I did see some type of curly definition, made my hair feel and look super dry. For the first time I tried it (with the shampoo and cleanser, which I also didn’t like because it made my hair feel dry also, but smells really nice) I just put the quick cream in by itself, I let it dry and I was so saddened by the frizzy/dry results. The second time I followed the instructions of this curly haired girl who has a video tutorial on youtube (I forgot her name) but she put sunflower oil and gel after and I still hated the results. Also, I didn’t buy this product to still have to worry about finding other ways to make it work. I am just going to stick with Kinky Curly, although it does leave my hair with that gelled look, there is no frizz and my curls are still defined. P.s. I have 3c/4a short hair (about 2 inches long)!!
I just had a rehearsal for tomorrow's big Miss Jessie's event here in Austin and Titi and Miko decided to put Quick Curls in my hair, blow dry and finger diffuse it. It looks wonderful!!! I've never had so much body and curl in my hair since I got my hair texturized! Plus my hair smells fantastic! It's a flowery lime smell that is distinct. I <3 Quick Curls for my 3A hair!
It worked, it was light, the smell was plesant in bottle, not on hair. Price was not reasonable, yielded same results as Kinky Curly (appropriately applied). Artificially moisturizing, quicker drying than Kinky curly. The ingredients were not worth the results.
i was surprise but this works really well - use only a small amount. it cream based so need to apply light touches for waves. however, i really liked how it feels and how it holds the curl.
I like Quick Curls for my 3b/3c hair but it does leave it with a "wet" look, even when you scale back a bit on the product. Still, if you want a well-defined curl, it does the trick nicely.
I have 4A hair. I shingled with this and I got the same results as curly pudding; defind curls but has a softer hold and more natural curl look, than a hard hold like curly pudding. It more moisturizing. I was surprised how well it worked. It smells better has more of slippery cream feel and creamy in hair like gel. Where as the curly pudding has a more thick gooey feel. Would of gave it 5curls if it defined more like curly pudding while keeping its qualities.
This product did NOT work for me. I tried it twice: 1st time- I just "wetted" a section of the hair and put it on and let it dry and it didnt work. 2nd time- freshly washed hair, I took a small section applied it and used a blow dryer. still nothing... I was very excited for this product because I thought it was the perfect cream for permed hair, since all of Miss Jessie's Creams are usually/strictly for natural hair. But this product, for its price and size, and inability to curl my hair- womp womp womp. And the thing is... I searched the web for weeks for directions and reviews and I found nothing real. The one girl on youtube who had a okay enough review was european-american (white) or maybe hispanic. I wish Miss Jessie's hair team would do a how-to video using the cream on permed hair... step by step... not a quickie before after, but directions. I am just so sad about this because I just knew it would work, but no. Oh and my hair type is "4a/b"... (this is a shared profile for our American Parlor Blog Family... http://theamericanparlor.blogspot.com) The only thing I can say is maybe perhaps if I put it through my entire head it would have been different. But for us permed girls... using cold wave rods and a good setting lotion like Nairobi or a good mousse like Mizani is the best thing- that way you get the curly look and you don't have to apply hard heat to your hair from a curling iron and it lasts since its set.
Hate the price. Way too expensive for such a small amount of product. But, it does work really well with my curls. I like the definition, hold, and smell. Also, the fact that I can towel dry my hair more and put the product in to get the same results as if I was to leave me a hair more wet and apply my normal leave in and styling products. Less fuss in the morning.
I'm amazed at how much I like Quick Curls! I get really nice curl formation and definition with no frizz.
Gave my 2b/right side zero definition or curl. My 3a/left side had soft curls but still no definition. I've never seen a product w/ silicones that made my hair look dull/shine-less, but by hair looks processed, undefined, and flat. Not for the wavy or loose-of-curls in my book.
I have tried all of the Miss Jessie's products and I think this one is the best. I was completely surprised by the results on my 4a hair, because the description seems to imply it's more suited for wavier styles. What a pleasant surprise. It smells great and is the least drying of the Miss Jessie's products I've used (Curly Pudding used to be my favorite, but in the last year it seemed like they changed the formula because it dried my hair out too much). Quick Curls gives my dry, thirsty curls great curl definition with a soft, supple, shiny finish. Absolutely perfect! So I was pleasantly surprised with this product. I just wish it came in a larger size, and preferably a jar like the other products. It's hard to get all the product out of the tube, and since it's quite pricey for the quantity that you get in the tube, every drop counts (and this is the only reason I didn't give it 5 curls). Good job Miss Jessie's. This one is definitely a keeper.
Unremarkable product for my 2b hair. No frizz, but also no shape to the wave, no body, no bounce, no lift, no support. 'Meh' hair with no personality. Definitely a product for curlier girls, although it is marketed to us wavy girls too. Don't be fooled. Smells good, though.
I love this stuff! It makes my curls soft and formed plus it gives me volume. Its lightweight and doesn't leave my hair producty feeling. It also smells fantastic! I would give it 5 curls if only it didn't seem to make my scalp flake on 2nd day hair - but it is so little that its not noticable.
I used the Quick Curls for the first time today. I was surprised by how small the tube is (for the price.) My curls are well defined, but smaller than normal. There's no shine to speak of. The curls are soft (after scrunching out the crunch.) Smells very clean and organic. I plan to try it again tomorrow with a diffuser. If I get different results I'll post again.
This creme works pretty good. I use it mixed with another conditioner. It leaves my hair feeling slightly coated, but it does give me smooth, defined waves--2C. Also, my curls last for 2 days when I use this product. I like this product but I wouldn't use it every day.
WOAH! thanks to this website, I found Miss Jessies just about a year or so ago - I tried a few of their products. This week I tried their new Quick Curls! WOAH! I mean, WOAH! I LOVE this stuff! I haven't had much luck with too many products - but WOW! this stuff is amazing! I'm hoping a bigger size comes out soon - because it's THAT good! I have thick curls and I wanted definition , just show off the curls, no frizz! - and it's just that - try it!!!!
