Cleaned the buildup, and my hair felt moisturized, however, it left my hair limp and curls stringy! I think if your hair likes oil this would work, but it definitely left mine gross! At least I got mine on clearance so I'm not out the $20 it costs normally!
Like another reviewer, I received a sample of this with an order. At the time I was a new natural experiencing an EXTREMELY itchy scalp due to product build up & over-moisturizing with good products (Oyin Honey Hemp- but my fault, not Oyin's). I tried shampooing with my regular Elucence moisture balance, I tried ORS Aloe shampoo, and Sauve Clarifying, all to no avail- my hair was stripped, and my scalp still felt dirty and itchy. Finally, I tried that little sample pack of Hair Rules Grapefruit, and it work wonders- my hair was clean, somehow slightly re-hydrated, smelled great, and my scalp problem had vanished. I'm so glad I received the right product at the right time. Thanks, Curlmart! I just wish it wasn't so expensive!
It's ok. It clarifies and cleans everything out. Nice smell. I'd use it sparingly... not every week, once a month maybe. I've used others that were less stripping
Heard so much about this shampoo but I wasn't really impressed by its work. My hair still felt a bit oily after using it. I had to wash my hair 4 times to get that clean feeling. Not so crazy over hair rules products.
I use this once a month on my 3C/4A hair. It's pleasant to use and nondrying. I would give it five stars but for the price.
This is a good clarifying shampoo that I use once a month. It cleans my hair well and does not strip my hair dry. However, I would not suggest using this for regular weekly or bi-weekly shampooing on type 4 hair. It could be a little harsh if used that often. A moisturizing shampoo with shea butter or regular co-washing is your best bet.
I used a sample that was included in one of my naturallycurly shipments and gave this a shot. It was by far one of the best clarifying shampoos on the market! A little too pricey for me to purchase but the sample did cleanse my hair very well.
I was worried about the sound of this shampoo; "grapefruit clarifying". I thought it'd be stripping, matting, tangling, etc. And though it was clear, thick & citrus scented (to me this means the above worries), it was a very moisturizing shampoo. I felt like I didn't need to use a deep treatment or daily rinse-out conditioner after it! I was fooled.
A good clarifying poo. Instructions said to use 1-2x/month, and I think it would be effective at that usage but too drying for a regular use poo.
