I have 3c/4a hair and this conditioner did nothing for it. The product's thin and has little slip so I had to us a lot to detangle. Will not purchase again
I have 3b, coarse, dry, damaged red hair. I use this as a leave-in after I co-wash. I style with Miss Jessie's Pillow Soft curls at night, and for the next couple of days, when I refresh with water or refresher spray, I add Miss Jessie's Quick Curls for hold. Creme de la Creme is a highly moisturizing, softening, detangling leave-in. It's extremely lightweight, and it never gets greasy or dries out my hair. I use it on my daughter's hair as well, and her hair stays soft and fresh. A little goes a long way, so the price isn't as bad as it seems. I would have given this a 5 star rating except it smells like Wet Dog in my hair. Fortunately the fragrances in Pillow Soft or Quick Curls make my hair smell great. I wish Miss Jessie's would add that wonderful pillow-soft fragrance to this conditioner! Then it would surely be 5 stars for me.
This product often gets mediocre reviews, so I never went out of my way to try Creme de la Curl. I tend to be turned off immediately by products that come only in 12 oz. bottles, because my daughter and I go through cleansers and conditioners like water. I love some of Miss Jessie's styling products (esp. Pillow Soft Curls), but I'd never tried any of their cleansers or conditioners. A couple of months ago I somehow obtained a sample of Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo, and in all my "curl life" it's one of the few products that shocked me with how good it is. Never, ever, no matter what brand or price, had I found a cleanser that didn't leave my hair in an impossibly tangled, ratty, dry mess. Super Slip Sudsy detangles my hair, and, even better, detangles my daughter's hair! Yes, it feels like Gorilla Snot...but it detangles our hair! Anyways - Super Sudsy inspired me to try Creme de la Curl co-wash and Creme de la Curl conditioner. I think they are both excellent products. I was thinking this cleanser might have a minty smell (like Creme de Menthe maybe?) but it doesn't. It actually smells rather bland, and familiar, but I can't place what it reminds me of. It's a thorough cleanser that leaves my hair soft, and it's very gentle on my scalp. It's over-priced for what it is, for my budget, but it is nice to have a co-wash that doesn't smell like mentholated tree bark.
I have used this on my hair quite a few times my hair type is 4a/4c mix and it works perfectly fine for me. You cannot just use it by itself it works great as a detangler pre-poo treatment but you must follow up with a deep condition treatment after.
It left my hair soft. The smell is very familiar like something I used from the good old days. Too pricey. Bought it on sale, buy one get one free.
If I were a bird I would say cheap, cheap! This does absolutely NOTHING for my type 4C hair...4C's beware!
This product smells good and makes my hair super soft. It is a good complement to the creme cleanser, but can also be used as a co-wash.
This stuff smells awesome and cleans it without leaving it dry. The cleanser is a thicker product then the conditioner and so well worth it. My curls snap into motion as soon as it toutches my wet hair. I love it.
Perhaps the least affective conditioning product that I have ever used. Absolutely no slip or detangling at all. So disappointing.
Loses a curl for ingredients. Has a wonderful smell! Kind of like ice cream. For me it had great slip and made my hair feel moisturized.
I like this product! Smells nice, moristurizes and its a great co wash. Reason why its not a staple product is the price. I mean.... I can name about 3 good products who do the same thing Creme De La Curl does at a lower price! (Same size or more in some cases) Shrug. That's what matters to me in this case.
I would've had better results rubbing rocks in my hair. This did nothing but dry out my hair. I could not even get a wide tooth comb through it (On a good day, I can use a fine tooth comb with little to no problem).
Like other reviewers, I find this a bit too lightweight, even for my 2c/3a curls. I have to use a couple tablespoons to properly condition my hair. I'm happy enough to finish the bottle, but won't buy again.
I don't hate it, but it's nothing special. It is certainly an improvement over the shampoos with sulfates I was using, but I'm looking forward to trying something different when I run out.
Ok consistency however doesn't feel like it is doing ANYTHING for my hair. Will not repurchase.
This is not a good cleanser at at..I bought this bottle and i was expecting to be blown away with results when all i got was matted hair, dryness, and it left my hair smelling like a WET DOG! uhh yea will not buy again and i still have over 3/4 of a bottle left! total waste of money!
I don't love it; don't hate it. This is extremely light weight. The Creme De La Curl Cleanser is actually of thicker texture than this. I don't like how this product seems watered down, thus making me feel like I should use more product which is no bueno since it's not a very large bottle and my hair is so long and thick. The smell is ok. Nothing to brag about. I'm going to use my bottle but I will not repurchase.
Very light weight conditioner. I had high hopes because other MJ products I have tried were wonderful, so this was abysmal. I look for thick , rich, conditioning power and this made my thirsty hair sad. Smells great tho! It has a refreshingly clean smell which is different from the regular confectionary-type smells MJ is famous for. Not krispy kreme more like spring fresh downy.
(Type 4a) First off this product smells great and had cute packaging. Secondly you'll have slip in the shower. Thirdly this product will most likely strip your hair and leave it feeling dry, unhealthy and overly corse. I would never suggest this product to a friend. If you would still like to try this product hmu and I'll package it to you for free! (I have like 3/4 of this bottle left)
(Type 4a) This was the first product I used after my big chop and it was absolutely atrocious. As a conditioner, it stripped my hair and made it feel awful after I came out of the shower. In the shower it has an ok smell and has slip and feels soft but the results after had my hair hating this product. I would never suggest this to a friend and I still have most of my bottle leftover. If you still would like to try this product definitely hmu and I'd love to ship this bottle to you for free (there's about 3/4 or more left).
Terrible, terrible, terrible! This conditioner smelled like soap and wet dog! I was willing to try it despite the smell only to find that after I washed it out, my hair felt LESS healthy and I had a lot of breakage. I was expecting much better for the cost and even though I haven't tried any other products from this brand, after this experience I certainly don't plan on it. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME BY SKIPPING THIS ONE 3C's!
this cleansing creme was horrible. smelled gross, very watery, tangled my hair. I love Miss Jessie products, but not this one. I will stick with Hair Rules Cleansing Creme.
Perfect, love the way it leaves my hair tangle free and slick just like a silicone product without the silicone/sulfate problems. Thank you Miss Jessie
Awesome. I love the way this made my hair feel, silky and soft without all the silicone build up!!! Thank you Miss Jessie, this is a great detangler and softener for my hair.
Sweet baby Jesus, the cones...THE CONES!!! Okay, I know not everyone is worried about the CG method and all, and I'm totally cool with that. However, this stuff just doesn't do enough given the price tag and other pore clogging ingredients. I'm just glad a friend had it so I could try her's, because if I bought this for myself I would've been pissed. In the winter I don't bother trying to "define" my curls and I just let it fro or do whatever it wants, but this stuff made my hair a gunky, frizzy hot mess. I wouldn't use it again if Miss Jessie's PAID me. -_- Run, 4a's! RUN!!!
I give 5 to both miss jessie's conditioners Creme de la Creme and Creme de la Curl (cleansing conditioner) - after I bleached my hair I lost most of curls although I cut it short to grow natural, after using miss jessie's I got my curls back and now they even 3b, the smell is at first strange but because conditioners work great I close my eye on it.
This is an amazing conditioner that made my hair very easy to detangle. Only con was that it seemed somewhat watery in consistency. Its not as thick as some of the other conditioners I used. But with that being said, I still think it did a pretty good job at conditioning and detangling my hair.
So i absolutely LOOOOVVVVEEEE this conditioner...i sat with a plastic cap on my head with the conditioner and my hair was sooooo soft and my curls were clumped and plumped up!!! even once it dried it was still extremely soft!!!!
This product works great if you follow the instructions. I usually leave in for about 5 to 10 minutes and my hair comes out so soft and manageable. Not sure why others didn't give it a good review but to me my results were satisfied. It varies for people but these products work best with NATURAL curly hair.
I love this conditioner! This is amazing! It makes my hair so soft! I will not stray away from this conditioner. I strayed away once to the Deva Conditioner and didnt like it as much! This stuff loves my curls!
I give this a 2 because although it basically did a conditioner's job, it smelled horrible and I couldn't continue to use it. Also, it wasn't as phenomenal as I thought it should be for the price.
I would love this nourishing shampoo but the smell is horrible. I cannot use it for that very reason. It smells like perm to me and I can't get past it.
Smells a little strange, like it wanted to smell fruity but was masked by chemicals. Besides that the shampoo left my hair incredible soft.moisturized feeling but did nothing for tangles. This doesnt have enough slip to help detangle.
I'm a big fan of Miss Jessie's and I like this conditioner but I must say, my 3a/3b curls seemed to straighten out a bit more when I use this conditioner for whatever reason. But since I have to use a styling product anyway, it doesn't last. I'd recommend it to anyone with dry hair. I use it along with the Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo and my hair smells and feels great. Very clean and well hydrated.
This one didn't do much for me, but it might work a lot better on someone with real curls. I'm about a 2A.
I had intense frizz for a few days after using this conditioner. Also, my hair had a weird, airy softness like a cottonball that refused to clump into curl definition.
I think this is a great conditioner it really makes your hair soft to the soft after use I would definitely recommend this product to a firend. This conditioner is a keeper I will continue to buy. Very pleased and happy!
*Disclaimer: This review is for the shampoo/cleanser and not the conditioner.* I just used this in the shower and it is hands down leaps and bounds better than DevaCurl's No Poo which I unfortunately still have a 3/4 bottle full of :(. It is so much more moisturizing and I did feel like it pulled a lot of excess oil out of my hair (I use a mix of additional oils -almond, apricot, avocado, olive, flax seed, rosemary, etc.- in my hair daily to style it that can really weigh my hair down) and left a clean, but soft and moisturized palette behind. I do kind of like the scent of DC's No Poo better, but the scent of this product isn't all that bad either. It smells like a very sweet smelling, fragrant flower that I cannot place at the moment. Regardless though, it doesn't linger for too long, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. And for how much better it works than DC's No Poo, I'll take the heady flower scent over the preferred mint.
