My bsl thick 2b/c hair loves this conditioner! I use two pumps or about a half dollar coin sized amount on my hair after shampooing, let it soak in for about 3-5 minutes, then de-tangle and rinse. It makes detangling so much easier for me and I love the thicker consistency because it is easier to work into my hair and doesn't comb out like thinner, runny conditioners that mostly end up at the bottom of my bathtub.
Was too heavy for my hair. I think it will serve others better if they have hair with normal or high porosity and/or medium/coarse width. I have fine, low porosity hair with a high density so everything weighs it down, even the hairs itself need to be layered because they weigh each other down. Would have probably been good if my hair didn't get weighed down by everything. I love the re:coil curl activator though.
As I also said in my review of AG's Curl Activating Shampoo, it and this Curl Activating Conditioner just refuse to provide the moisture my color-treated (auburn) 2C/3A-B hair desperately cries out for since I moved to Nevada from Florida. I maintain that both the Curl Activating Shampoo AND Conditioner are quality hair products, sufficiently concentrated, pleasantly scented and worth every dime. I didn't even have to switch to anything more moisture-rich during the winter while I used these in Florida - they served my parches tresses well year-round. When I return to the eastern part of the US, I will most certainly return to these products as well, but unfortunately for now, I had to switch to different products.
Like I said for the shampoo, just hands down my favorite conditioner (along with re:coil shampoo). If I want to have my curliest curls, it performs the same consistently. And I absolutely love the smell.
Smells great, but did not work for me at all. Conditioner left my hair feeling like it still needed to e washed. No curl. So sad.
The smell of this reminds me of the old-school home "permanents" my mother used to give my grandmothers (who wore wigs anyways, and had curly hair, so what was the point?). I don't think this conditioner contains any kind of ammonia acid, so I'm sure the perfume of this product just causes a weird olfactory reaction for me. Aside from a smell this is somewhat unpleasant, this isn't a good conditioner for my hair. The Re:coil shampoo turns my hair into a substance resembling burlap, and then Re:coil conditioner softens it like a rubberized ( Polyurethane-14)coating over wire. If you're like me, and silicones (in this case Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone) coat and dry-out your hair, giving you immediate, unplanned Dreds, you may want to avoid this conditioner. My naturally dry, color-treated, mid-40's hair utterly hates it. However - my 4 year old daughter, who is wavy-curly at this point (2 b/c) - loves both the shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner does perform as an "activator" on her hair! It detangles like a charm, softens, and moisturizes. She gets Shirley Temple curls when using this, especially with using the Curl Activator spritz as a finisher. My 3 curl rating is the average of how this conditioner works for both of us. It's hard to believe we'd used the same product when observing our hair's reaction to it.
I actually really like the smell of both the shampoo and conditioner. I wish it did stick a little longer. The conditioner does a good job of re-moisturizing curls after the shampoo that can be a little drying. Together, the combination provides a noticeable difference. My hair seemed curlier and fuller!
I was just like a lot of the other ladies on here: I tried it, I wasn't impressed, then I read all these great reviews, so I tried it again, and now I am never going back, I love it! With this product a little goes a long way (which is good because it ain't cheap.) I use mine in combination with a leave-in conditioner and I flip my hair upside down and scrunch about a dime's worth of the product in to my hair while it is still pretty wet. I think this helps water it down and keeps my curls defined, but not crunchy. I saw a few people mention the smell, and while it doesn't smell particularly sweet or fruity, it's not a very strong smell, and I found that in combination with the leave-in conditioner and a diffuser I can't even smell it at all. I would recommend this to all my fellow 3a-3b curlies!
This product is a light conditioner. My hair is just past my shoulders and I have to use a bit more than a quarter sized amount or I do end up with a bit of frizz in the crown. (I also tend to focus on the ends with conditioner.) Still, it doesn't weigh down my fine wavy hair and gives me clumpy waves. How much you handle your hair after it's washed is a factor in that though, so I'm unsure the conditioner completely worth the price. But, I got 40% at a litre-sale, so it was a better value.
My curls have literally no frizz and today is a rainy day. Plus when I diffused, my hair formed soft, touchable curls. This is great stuff!
Really love this product it kept curls together not greasy or heavy no crunch just pretty curls
Fabulous conditioner for moisturizing, detangling, and curl enhancing, but with out heavy weight. Everything a fine hairded curly needs!
Love this daily conditioner. Great slip, smells great and my hair feels amazing after I use it -- like buttah!
