I use this product on my 3 year old sons baby fine curls. His hair isn't too long and only requires light hold and this works very well for that. It doesn't work as well for my medium length fine curls but we use it for him every day.

Perfect for my soft, fine, wavy/curly, color-treated 2b hair. Refreshed waves and curls nicely without heavy, sticky feel of a gel, and without crunch. Hair feels light and soft. I'm enjoying all the Kinky-Curly products I've tried, they work nicely together (KCSpiral Spritz, KCKnot Today, and KCCCustard) without product build-up, and they are readily available at Target, so no shipping charges.

My fine 2b hair frizzes like crazy, even when it isn't curling up very much. This stuff is awesome for getting the frizzies out and leaving my hair smooth and soft - not stiff or producty. I'm happy it's silicone free, and for me it works lots better than the silicone serums I've tried (they leave a weird dry/oily feel to my hair).. The spray nozzle does indeed suck - it squirts out in a forceful jet. I'm going to try putting it into another spray bottle. For now though I spray it onto my hands and run my hands over frizzy spots (everywhere) on dry hair - ta da, smooth shiny hair. I haven't had any problems with flakes. Smells nice - sort of lemony.

@surething LOL! Me too. I just got this out after a year. In our defense the instructions are hard to read in the light yellow and they don't really tell you HOW to use it. Do I spray it directly on my hair or in my hands and rake through?
REVIEW: I have baby fine 2/3a/b hair - it depends on how humid it is. I live in California so I usually use nothing because I prefer a natural look to a crunchy look and we normally have dry to semi-humid weather my curls love the latter and are good enough in dry. As long as I deep condition, co-wash or use sulfate free shampoo I'm good. However, this year the rainy season started early (normally rain means I put it up and the little curls stick out and I look cute) but I'm unemployed and interviewing this year. Last Thursday I would not be surprised if I don't get a call back based on my hair. It was all my types - 2a/b/c/3a/b all at once with poufy frizz on top. It looked great when I left but the day was misty. I stopped at the supermarket and got anti-humidity gel for fine hair from Pantene and blowdried it straightish and it curled up and looked decent. However, today I put the same gel in and decided to airdry and I had greasy over gelled multi-type hair. I came here to look for anti humidity stuff suggestions saw this and and I spritzed this on my mess and its 3a/b. It is a little gel crunchy but it already had gel in it. I still don't know if this will work as product but as a refresher - lets just say it's going in the brief case. I'll test tomorrow as a product since it is still supposed to be raining. I'm hoping for mist which my hair hates more. If it works I may hit Target and get the leave in as well. I gave it 4 curls because I still need to see how it holds up as a product.

I actually had this product for a year before I figured out how to use it. Yes your hair has to be at least damp. As with all KC products that I've tried, the wetter the better. And yes it skeets out into your hand, not your head. But it is the absolute best for a de-frizz/next day solution. Brings your shine back and doesn't build up. We had one of the hottest summers on record this year and I used it day after day and it never failed to deliver.

This stuff is great as a second day styler/refresher. The consistency (light, watery gel) provides a strong enough hold when my initial gel has been scrunched out a lot by the next day; the hold looks as if it is super slicked back but it is really soft! I don't quite like the smell of the product when it's in the bottle—strong lavender, herbal scent—but once you pump it into your hand, you can't smell it. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I wish I could use it as a regular styler as well, but the hold is too light to be use on very wet hair.

This serum is more like a gel. And I think it should be used as such. Combine with a leave-in conditioner and you will have nice, bouncy curls. NO CRUNCH! I wasn't that impressed when I first got this product. But the problem was that I was using to little of it. As stated above; I think it is best with "knot today" leave-in conditioner/ jessicurls "too shea" conditioner. This really reduces frizz for me, especially if I apply it on dry hair. It gives a nice shine if you are wearing your hair up and pulled back. It can get a bit greasy on second day/ third day hair, but it DOES NOT make my hair stringy or limp in any way. Nice smell, not too strong.
I have coarse hair, not fine!

I actually really liked this as a refresher for day 2+ hair. I couldn't spray directly on hair which is a minus, but was still able to apply by spraying into my hand and then into my hair; which I guess isn't too bad. And it's not to too pricey with $1.50 per ounce. I also didn't have to use a lot of the product to refresh my curls which is a plus, allowing the product to last longer.

I used this for a wash and go. Sprayed my hair with water, THEN added my shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie under this spritz (so my hair won't get dry). I thought this wouldn't do the trick because I usually see girls on youtube using something more heavy for 4b 4c hair (eco styler gel) but this worked for me. I don't see any other way I would be able to use this product other then a wash n go and to refresh because its so light BUT I am gonna try it when I decided to do a roller set (which is really why I bought it). Yeah it sprays out horrible but I think imma mix a little this and water in a spray bottle, I think that should solve that problem.

I really like this product now that I've finally figured out how to use it. I can't scrunch it into my hair like I do with KCCC; then it does pretty much nothing except add shine. I have to instead comb it through my hair with a wide tooth comb and then very gently scrunch the ends upward. I then either let my hair air dry or blow dry with the diffuser pointed downward, not upward with my hair gathered up into the bowl. Doing this leaves me with large, loose waves that are perfectly frizz free. If you are looking for a product that will add definition and bring out individual waves, this is not for you. If you are instead looking for something that will discourage frizz but not weight hair down then I highly recommend this product!

This is a MUST for my 3a curls!! This provides the absolute BEST frizz control for my curls! 1) I cleanse my hair with KC Come Clean 2) I split my hair on two sides and add a biiig glob of KCKT to each side (I have a lot of hair so it needs a looot of moisture! 3) I wet my hands and pump Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz into the palm of my hand (2 or 3 pumps) and rub palms together, then spread evenly around the crown of my head and my roots to tame the frizzies. Then I pump again a few more times and finger rake through the rest of my curls. This helps them clump together, and gives AMAZING shine! 4) I take a quarter sized amount of KCCC and rake through sections of my hair. Grab some more KCCC and repeat until all of my hair is saturated. 5) Flip my head upside down, rake fingers through hair once more and diffuse hair for 10 - 15 minutes. 6) Flip head back right-side up and let hair finish drying for another 1 - 2 hours (don't touch again until completely dry- verrry important!!) 7) At this point hair will be crunchy and hard, but once its fully dry gently squeeze hair in small bunches from root to ends and it will release the crunchy cast and help curls look soft and fabulous!
OR I use KCSS as setting lotion when I want to use a roller set- Wowser! Gorgeous, shiny curls!
OR I use KCSS on 2nd day hair (using step 3 above)
This is my HG hair product forever!!

Well, i won't buy this product again. I saw on ebay it went for $19.99. Its defiantly not worth that much.
Frizz control is nice, it does spritz up my hair, but not necessarily how i want it.
The product also doesn't smell that nice. You would think that since the bottle is yellow, it would have a nice
scent to it. Like Lemon or something tropical.

I have 2b hair. 2a if I brush it, or don't scrunch it. 2b on an average scrunched day. 2c if I'm having an extraordinary hair day. My hair is fine and average porosity (I think). I picked this up at Target hoping it would define my curls and hold them in without frizz. I was disappointed. I applied it to wet hair before getting out of the shower. I sprayed 5 squirts into my hands and worked it into my hair. It felt like there was no product in my hair at all, so I added 5 more squirts. Now I could tell there was product in my hair, but I had too much moisture and it was pulling down my curls. I plopped it in a turbie-twist for a couple of minutes while I dressed and after that I re-scrunched. I looked like a drowned poodle so I dried it part-way with a diffuser. This left my hair more wavy than curly and had very minimal hold. It's soft hold (not crunchy), but not enough hold for my hair. This product might work well for short hair.

LOVE this product--it's my most common go-to curl refresher on non-wash days. Don't spray it directly into your hair--you're better off spraying it into your palm because it shoots out more as a stream than as a mist. It has a nice lavender scent. I sometimes use a touch of it after I wash my hair to seal in moisture before adding styling products. I usually use it on other days to re-add moisture and shine--it works better for me than misting sprays (misting sprays tend to make my hair limp). The spritz is very moisturizing and slippery, which is useful on hair that's already dry. Docked a curl cuz it's kind of expensive, but I do really like the product.

Not really a fan of this. Its too thick to spray straight onto my hair for a refresher. I either mix it 50/50 with water in a smaller spray bottle and spray straight on my hair or spray this in my hand and rub it through the areas that need some frizz control.. This stuff smells nice! But I won't be buying this again.

I though I liked this the first day I tried it, but then ehhhh. I thought I would lov this because I LOVE Kinky-Curly Come Clean, Knot Today, and Curling Custard, and I needed a refresher, so I thought this would be great. All it did, though, was dry my hair out. I was so excited, especially because it could be used on dry hair. But no :(...this dried out my curls and gve me tons of frizz. I am giving this away. I think my hair just hates glycerin and aloe. If you want to refresh your curls, you're better off using water.

This product was GREAT for one-day-old curls! I've definitely seen the flakes though. But check it: if you don't use the whole product line (the shampoo, conditioner, custard, etc.) you're going to get the nasty flakes because any residue from different shampoo's or conditioner's doesn't mesh well with the Kinky products. The shampoo gets rid of buildup and residue from the products you used to use. So I recommend that if you are going to use these products, you have to commit to using it as a set! :)

this stuff has the consistency and texture of a gel. it held my twist out well but boy did it leave flakes, loads of flakes and it was very drying and made my hair stiff. i used a lot of this stuff because my hair is thick, maybe i didn't use it right but i wouldn't give it a second go to make sure.

Spiral Spritz works for me on very hot, dry days when I can let my hair air dry and it won't take all day long (it still takes a couple of hours). If I use this with my diffuser, it separates and defines very well, but it gets hard. It's not a soft gel coat, but a crisp, plasticy coat. When I scrunch it, I lose all formation and separation and my hair becomes a poof of frizz. If I am able to let Spiral Solutions dry completely...and I mean completely...it works well, and I can scrunch carefully without creating a mess. I've made the mistake of thinking it was dry, and then scrunched, only to find the gel was dry, but my hair wasn't. This kills my curls and causes dry, flyaway frizz. I prefer the Curl Custard for my 3a/3b curls, because it blends in with the Knot Today Leave-In, so it stays soft. Spiral Solutions doesn't seem to blend with the leave-in, on my hair, so it makes it look flat instead of bouncy. Perhaps the horsetail creates too much silica for my picky, picky hair.

Hmmm... I really wanted to like this product but it was mediocre at best. I applied this product on damp hair after applying KCKT and defused my hair until it was 75% dry. Initially, I got big voluminous curls that were defined and soft. As the day progressed I noticed WHITE FLAKES all around the roots of my hair ewww. So sad... I will try to use it other ways to see if I can get better results but I will NOT purchase this again in the future.

I originally intended to try this product as a second day hair refresher but ended up so impressed that it is now my primary summer styler. Immediately after conditioning (with my hair flipped over) I emulsify 3 spritzes in my hand and smooth over the length of my hair. I follow by scrunching in a generous amount (probably 9 spritzes overall). After applying, I plop for about a half hour and that's it! Sooo easy! After my hair has air dried I may gently finger fluff my roots with my hair flipped over but this product has very little hold so I refrain from messing with my curls too much. The result is soft, touchable (not crunchy) curls and a pretty, glisten-y sheen. The scent smells mainly like aloe and is very light. For second day hair, I just smooth KCSS over my hair with a little lavender hydrosol and my curls come right back to life.
As with other Kinky Curly products, this one is animal friendly and full of natural ingredients.
P.S. do not spray directly on hair! (pump produces stream, not mist!)

Helps smooth my hair and give it shine. I think it helps control frizz as well. It works for me until the dewpoints get really high (like up to about a dew of 65 or so). At high dews I need to use different products. It has a nice, soft lavendar fragrance.
As far as application goes, I spray several pumps into my hand before I apply it to my hair. I don't think it would work very well if sprayed directly onto my hair.
I like that is made with natural ingredients and animal-friendly.

I have fine 4a strands and I used this on naked hair (after deep conditioning and co-washing). I normally wash-n-go every day without any stylers or leave-ins, but lately I've been wanting a more defined, but still "free" look without using a hard-hold gel- so I gave this a try. And so far so good *keeping fingers crossed*. My coil definition is even better and the hold is light enough so I still have my "free" look and I know I won't have a problem washing it out the next day.

My search for a finishing product is finally over and this is it! I have always needed some kind of product to smooth over my hair when it is all dry to just give it a little smoothness, tame any flyaways. I've tried so so many. I used to love Secret Weapon before going CG but have never found a replacement that I really liked. I finally settled on JCNS but sometimes it left me a little greasy looking. Low and behold KCSS is the perfect product for this. I spray about 5 pumps into my hand, rub palms together and SOTC with it and then smooth some overy my canopy. Leaves me with a little shine, but not oily, and does the job. Love it! Adding it to my list of HG's!

Wow! I just bought some of this at Target today. After slightly wetting my hair, I spritzed some in my hand and applied to one side of my head. The tightness and frizziness were calmed and resulted in beautiful spirals! I can't believe it! My guess is I need something to hold the curl so it will stay nice.
I have only been CG for one week after 39 years of trying to tame my hair with a curling iron, products, etc. I'm so glad to have found this site. I think I'm a combo of 3a (bottom half of back of head) and 3b (kinky wiry, dry straw) on top. I'm only giving this 4 stars for now b/c I haven't used it all over. I'll give an updated rating later. Target needs to carry the pomade--am anxious to try it. Kudos to Target for carrying products made by smaller companies.

I have used Kinky-Curly Come Clean, Knot Today, and Curling Custard with absolutely fabulous results. It took some time for my hair to get use to, and finding the right consistently that works well for my hair type. Trying to understand and find the perfect amount is a journey, but the moisturizing and healthy results are in return, wonderful. Unfortunately, the Spiral Spritz is far from all the wonderful things I mentioned above about the Kinky-Curly products I have tried previous to Spiral Spritz. I used it to achieve second day hair because co-washing daily can get tiring after a while. The spray DOESN'T spray, it shoots out a rapid film. (That was unexpected!) I used it to reactivated the Kinky Curly Curling Custard. At the beginning of the day, all seemed nice and dandy, but as the day progressed, it began drying, flaking, and my hair was NOT "touchably" soft. It felt like I went to the salon, blow-fries my tresses, and threw a can of hair spray on it to freeze it in its position. Needless to say, I won't be revisiting this product.

I saw this product at my local Target store (FINALLY, they're carrying the Kinky Curly line...) It's okay, I guess. It seems to have good detangling ability; however, you need too much of the product to use it as a refresher for second-day hair. I have not tried it on soaking wet hair, but it seems that the product would not provide enough weight or moisture to sufficiently tame my thick, dry,and frizzy strands. I couldn't really detect any smell from this product. I do like the way it smooths the hair. I'd just have to use too much of it in order to achieve the desired look, and this wouldn't be very economical. I suppose if you resign yourself to using another product over the spiral spritz, this product has potential. I'm on the fence about repurchasing.

Just recently swapped for this product mainly for my curly teenage daughter.
This is a fantastic moisture spray. I use the product not as a curl definer or a to provide hold because it does not work for that.
However as a moisturizer for refreshing curls or for braided/twisted styles it is FANTASTIC. Another winner for Kinky Curly. The key to this product line is knowing what a product was designed for and how to use it.
A tip for appplication: I do not spray on my hair. I spray 15-20 pumps in my hand an apply to sections.

So far it's holding up on the frizz end of the deal but there is no hold whatsoever. Also, when I applied this to my hair while it was wet, it made my hair VERY DIFFICULT to comb through! I couldn't even use it on my whole head. Also, it sprays in a single stream so be warned.

This product doesn't go a long way and probably not the best on the market for 2nd day hair. However, it was the first I've tried and I did get excited that I could use something on my wild 2nd day hair and/or same day frizzy hair. If I used it for frizz then I would used the pomade with it after it dried. I love Kinky-Curly products, but I am looking for less products for the results I am wanting to achieve which is soft, moisturized, bouncy, and frizz free hair. Perhaps it just takes a lot of products to achieve this look. I will continue my research!

It's worth experimenting with this to see what works best for you. It's not enough hold on its own, but works great as an alternative to serums, under a gel like KCCC. I use it on soaking wet hair before I scrunch dry and apply other products. It leaves my hair shiny, soft, and well moisturised, and helps to smooth down frizzies. Not great for second-day refreshing in my experience - better for initial smoothing. A bottle lasts well!

I like this product, except I don't like the lavender, the smell fades but I don't like the feeling on my hands or my scalp.
I squirt it out into my hands, and scrunch it in. At first my hair feels thin and crispy--don't freak out! Just scrunch it, and maybe scrunch it some more later, and you will get big hair (if you like that!)
My curls were not as "fat" as I like, but they were cute and I like not having silicone on my face.

Meh... This stuff is neither here nor there. Like everyone else said, it sorta skeets out of the bottle and I'm not too fond of the citrus/medicinal smell. It's like a watered down version of KCCC with some glycerin thrown in. I find that plain ole water refreshes my curls much better than this stuff. When used alone on top of a leave-in, the results are nothing to write home about as well. I will not be repurchasing. The KCKT, KCCC and water are all I need.

This spritz doesn't spray well from the nozzle, but rather shoots out in a stream. I spray it into my hand or onto my fingers and then apply. This spritz works nicely for washNgo hair (or other styles starting from freshly cleaned hair) to tame frizz w/ light to medium hold. It didn't work well as a second day refresher for my washNgo, but okay when changing the loose style to a puff or pinning the front back. I also noticed it seemed to cause a tad bit of dryness (possibly the grapefruit extract) when used often; my simple solution: added a tsp. of jojoba oil, made a noticeable difference!

4a/b hair here... this product definitely holds the curl BUT I'd recommend having your hair spritzed with water before use - gread if you're in a hurry and want some sheen.

On the day I shampoo this product leave me with GREAT curls that are shiny and soft to the touch; however day two is as if nothing every happened and reapplying did not make things better. I even tried rinsing my hair and reapplying but still I don't get the results that I do the day of the wash.

I think this is better for my thin, fine, frizzy hair than the Custard. It really moisturizes without weighing my hair down. I use it with Jane Carter Sculpt and Condition since it doesn't give as much hold as I like, but it's a keeper more so than the Custard in the winter months. I think the Custard will be better for me in the summer to weigh down my hair when it is humid. I love Kinky Curly and Jane Carter products for my hair.

First, as others have noted, this is not really a "spritz" or a "spray."
It is more like a runny gel, and comes out of the sprayer in a stream. At first I diluted this about half and half with water in another spray bottle to use as a spritz, but that did not produce any great results.
Now I use it without diluting on wet hair. I spray it into my hand and apply it with my hands like a gel. I have very fine, thin, dry hair with loose waves. I currently live in Colorado, and the dry climate makes my hair extremely frizzy. My hair does much better in humid climates and I was looking for something to re-create that effect. I can't use most leave-in, shine, or styling products because they weigh down my hair too much or leave it frizzy.
This product is terrific. It makes my hair shiny, wavy instead of frizzy, and my hair look very healthy and thicker. The thickness lasts until I rinse my hair again, but the shine and waves usually don't last past one night's sleep, so I also use this on dry hair, applying with my hands, and it does not weigh it down.

This product does not spray out of the bottle for me: it's too think. HOwever, I have used it straight out of the bottle as a setting lotion and it worked great for that in roller sets. I have also used it the next day to refresh my curls, but I misted my hair with water that I added lavender and tea tree essential oil, then rubbed this serum in my palms and crunched the curls. Worked well.

A great style refresher for next-day hair and it is very moisturizing. It is easy to spray too much though because the nozzle sprays a stream (if that makes sense). I usually put this in a diffrent spray bottle to use it because I like mists. For best results, I let it soak into my hair before I try to separate my coils. If you don;t like glycerin, this may not be the product for you.

I didn't quite know how to use this for a while. Then I tried this as a curl booster before I put on my styling products. There was a big difference. It seems to help for my curls and get them to "set" and clump better than without it. It gave me lots of shine too. I'll repurchase.

At first, I did not know how to use this. So I put it on a shelf for months. Pulled it back out and now use it on dry hair to do braids or twists. Works well when you apply it to particular pieces of hair versus all over.

This product works really well for me as a serum. I didn't like it any other way. I use it on days where frizz may be an issue - high dewpoint, humidity, rainy etc .. you get the idea !! After applying all of my styling products, I spray some in my hand & scrunch it in. I then diffuse. It helps prevent frizz.
I didn't like it as a curl refresher or a styler on its own, but as a serum - it's a keeper.

Well, one curl deducted because it stinks. Luckily the smell doesn't last. This is not a spray, its a serum. Alone it won't revive
second day hair, but it does calm the frizz down after spraying with water and scrunching, or after going to the gym.

4a - At first I was apprehensive about this product. I sprayed it on and then put it in my palm and it did not work for me. But then, I squirted a bit on my finger tips and took pieces of hair and twirled the ends that were a bit flat from being slept on and Viola!

I use this product for two strand twists sometimes. I will not be repurchasing. It does not "refresh" my KCCC style.
