I loveeeeeee this comb. It can be heavy but once you learn how to use it then it's a wrap. Best detangling comb ever!
I just tried this comb for the first time. All I can say is... WOW! The moment I put it through my hair I was shocked. I combed my hair in half the time it normally takes! And, I even shed less! I do think that it's too expensive, but I am happy that I bought it nonetheless. Definitely a keeper :-)
The Ouidad Double Detangler has got to be one of the most brilliant inventions for curly hair to date. Prior to its creation, I stored an extra 2-3 wide tooth combs and picks in my closet at all times because there were none on the market that were tough enough to detangle my color-treated 2C/3A-B fur coat, er, I mean hair, without breaking! Not so anymore. The Double Detangler is comprised of a substantial hard plastic with two rows of widely-spaced tines and an ergonomic handle, thus producing a tool rugged enough to rival even commercial-grade construction equipment. One thing I feel is important to note is that although I am relatively young, I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, rendering them all but useless for even remotely challenging tasks. However, the ergonomic design of the Double Detangler is such that the pain of gripping this particular object is greatly minimized by its heavy duty, well thought-out construction; it's so much easier for me to hold AND to maintain a firm grasp on it without repeated dropping. It seems the longer my locks get and the longer I live in the arid Wild West (I'm from Florida), the more difficult the tangles become to manage, particularly at the neck line where it is most curly. Since I can only wash my hair once a week without completely stripping every last ounce of moisture from it and fading my over-priced color treatment to shades unrecognizable on any color wheel, there's sufficient time to form snarls-a-plenty, making the Double Detangler a godsend. I purchased mine about 4 or 5 years ago and it's still going strong without a single broken tine or any sign of ruination anywhere in the foreseeable future. I have definitely done more than my fair share of complaining about Ouidad's (as well as some others') pricing, but this time they get a trump card. I'm pretty sure I have actually SAVED $$ because the Double Detangler is so durable.
I love this comb. I can not travel without it. Creates amazing curl definition without pulling or breaking hair. LOVE
This is my hair beauty "secret", hands down. There are some tangles that I use my fingers to unknot, because I don't want to rip my hair, but after any huge knots are gone, I use this to comb conditioner through my hair. It gets every strand, and it makes my hair feel so smooth. I have hair that wants badly to poof instead of curl, but this comb ensures that I will get excellent curl definition and shape. This huge comb isn't really travel-friendly, but I don't care. I take it everywhere with me. It's the only "tool" I will ever use in my hair.
i have dry hard stiff untameable curls that are knot free and i can run my fingers through the knotless hair now T.Y.O.!
I've seen alot of good reviews for this comb. It does cut detangling time waaaaaaay down. It used to take me at 1-1.5 hours, but its shortened it to 30 minutes I'd say. The comb is really good. It glides through the. I start at the ends and work my way up towards the roots. I've used other combs, regular ones prior to this that snagged and ripped out my hair. The only thing I dislike about this comb, is that it isn't seamless. There are seams on the tooths of this comb and unfotrunately with my hair it still somewhat snags and pulls. Still a good comb, I just wish it was seamless.
This comb detangles my hair in less than two minutes flat. Yes, there are a bit of ouchies here and there, but it goes away quickly and then it passes through like a hot knife in butter. My hands sometimes hurts when I have to hold it (it has some weight to it), but I'm willing to overlook it for what little time it goes through my thick hair that used to take me FOREVER to detangle with regular brushes and combs.
This may work better for hair that us thicker and tangles easily. I found it too heavy to use easily. Im going to give it to my niece who has type 4 hair.
I use this comb on my girls' natural 4B/4C BSL hair, and it has been a wonderful tool! It detangles quickly without a lot of pulling and tugging. There is very little hair left in the comb, and if I want I can go behind it with a Denman brush with no trouble. It has cut down on both time and pain--definitely a keeper!
I love this comb! I use it every time I brush my hair and it works amazingly well at removing tangles - so much faster than using a brush! It doesn't catch my hair like a brush either, so I don't have breakage. I have already recommended this to all my curly-headed friends!
I purchased this product about a month ago. I use it to detangle and distribute product throughout my hair. I've detangled on wet and dry hair and have been satisfied each time. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
I purchased and used it in the shower to comb through my wet hair which was loaded with conditioner and after tugging and pulling at the same section of hair for a coupld of minutes I immediately grabbed my denman paddle brush and got through my whole head in half the time. It gets one curl from me because it didn't do anything any my denman couldn't do and really didn't replace any hair tools I already had. I like the idea of the double comb but maybe if one side of the come had a more pliable row of teeth to smoothe out the tangles and curls while the second row of teeth are structured to clump the hair together it would be a more useful comb. I guess what I am describing is a denman/widetooth comb combo.
An interesting invention and works great if you rake and shake. You can actually use this to create that style. Just apply your styling product to the sectioned hair, use the comb to seperate the hair and shake the comb back and forth when you get to the end. This style doesn't work well on my 3b-c hair I prefer to scrunch, but I've used it on my daughters hair with great success. The comb is heavier than you would expect but that is what allows you to do the rake and shake style. Try it-I think you will like it.
I was very excited to try this styling tool but it wasn't as great as I expected. It actually hurt more than a regular wide-toothed comb. I was expecting it to be much easier and less painful to do (I actually don't have that much pain when I brush/comb my hair after washing). Will give it another go to see if it was the conditioner I used that day.
