I love this stuff for my daughter's dense head of fine and medium strands, 4a/3c. I needed something for definition and to weigh it down. For us, it is the perfect product for a defined braid out. I use a Leave-in on damp detangled hair and then add generous amounts of Madagascar Styling Creme while I am braiding. If I want to leave the braids in for a week, they stay moisturized. Perfect!!

I was slightly disappointed with this product. Since it's labeled as a styling cream, I was expecting it to be a thick, creamy product, but it was more like the consistency of a solid hair butter. It does emulsify in your hands, however, and provides nice hold & moisturizing for twists/twist-outs. However, I noticed that application was much easier in damp hair as opposed to wet hair. The fragrance is mild and pleasant and I liked the ingredients. Since I'm more of a wash-n-go girl, and since this product doesn't work well on (my) wet hair, I won't be re-purchasing.

Best product I've used for twists and sealing. Not greasy, soft hold, and is a good moisturizer! Loving it!

Pretty average twistout product, smell was ok and I agree with another reviewer it smells like cream cheese, It provided nice moisture with minimum shine, the price is good but I would not re-purchase.

I like my results. The product did everything it promised. My curl pattern is 4a in the crown, 4b everywhere else except a large patch of hair over my left ear. Dunno. Don't ask! All I know is that I need moisture, a healthy shine and softness especially after my protein treatments. Add to that my dark brown hair bleached to many different shades of ash blonde highlights, I need moisture so that my hair does not look overprocessed and dull. This product delivers. Like a handful of other reviewers, I used way too much on damp hair and ended up with a greasy finish. Today, I applied to freshly cleaned, dry hair - just a fingertip full - to each clump of hair before I started my 2 strand twists. And now, I can't keep my hands off my hair! I'm back to the Hands In Hair syndrome and I haven't even released the two strand twists! Uh, oh : ) Feels wonderful. Try the product. BTW - smell is subtle and pleasant.

The smell is not good. If I wanted to be nice, I would say that it smells like cream cheese. If it were cream cheese, then that would be acceptable, however, it is to be put in my hair, so for me, it is not. I like the consistency, but it made for an oily twist-out. I can't buy this again. Ok, I won't buy this again.

I really enjoy this product on dry stretched moisturized hair. I used it to twist my hair and reseal my ends. Many people complained about the smell but it smells exactly as advertised: like vanilla. It is real vanilla, however, and not the synthetic kind we are all used to. The only reason why it gets 4 stars is that it is not as moisturizing as my lovely Oyin Whipped Pudding but it is far more economical and does a damn good job! Definitely a rebuy!

I bought this product along with many other products from Darcy's Botanicals because of all the rave reviews. I have to say it was such a big disappointment. When I opened the jar, I was hit with the smell of rotting vanilla. Like when you leave a bowl of vanilla ice cream out in the sun for a day. It quickly emulsifies in your fingers into an oil and it has a very light, whipped texture. When I put it on my hair, it didn't feel like I put anything, and I don't mean that in a good way. I tried it using the leave in and hair milk (both also from the DB line) underneath and my hair would feel dry and hard after about 20 minutes. Without anything underneath it was even drier and worse. I tried it on both wet and dry hair but this product just is not for me. I would not recommend it especially if you have coarse hair.

I love this product! I have small locs that I like to moisturize with creams and styling butters. This product smells a little strange in the jar but once I applied it to my hair, I got a lot of complements. It is thick so to encourage it to blend I mix it with Oyin Greg Juice or some oil.

I love this stuff! Its very creamy, buttery, and only a small amount is needed to moisturize. The smell is good, but wish it was stronger. I use it with Darcy's leavin-in, coils jelly, and juicy peach nectar. Perfect hair every time.

I like this product. It smells very good and is nice and creamy. A little bit does go a long way so be careful not to use too much. The first time I used the product I was heavy handed and my hair was very oily. But using a lighter amount worked perfectly. It didn’t provide any hold for me but it did add great moisture. I can use it to add moisture to just about any style.

This smelled horrible. I bought it mainly for the smell as well as the fact that it is natural. I bought it because of the reviews posted saying how great it Smelled on other websites. Wow it smelled really bad. I had to add Vanilla oil to it from the body shop so I could use it, It is moisturizing, but I use maybe a pea size or less on my hair When wet. Otherwise it weighs my hair down. I will not be buying this again. Too bad I had high hope for her products.

Either the pictures of this product are very colorful or my product is old. The Madagascar vanilla pudding I received is a light tan color and it smells horrible. I had to stir it because it was separated when I received it. The reason I bought it is because vanilla is one of my favorite scents and all the reviews raved about it, but I just don’t agree. The product label reads “use within 8 to 12 months” The only buttercreme I’ve ever used is Miss Jesse’s and I guess I was looking for that same consistency.

The smell is not what I thought it would be. I actually like the sweeter smell and this was lacking in that area. I have curls & coils, and this does nothing for me. I didn't notice grease, moisture, or anything. It's a good price but not much bang for the few bucks it costs.

I use this as a second-day curl-reformer. But, as the others say, a little goes a long way. Too much, and you've got grease city.

Legit! It was less creamy than i imagined. More of an oil than a thick butter/cream. Melts very easily in your fingers, so if you have fine hair like me, it's a fine line between moisturized and GREASY! I paid attention to that, and my hair was so soft the next day! the smell is a light touch of vanilla. not like a thick cake batter sickening sweet type of smell. YAY! it also adds good shine to the hair. I don't look for hold on twisting products because i don't have thick hair. i actually LIKE the huge puffball look (optical illusion!) My hair was cottony, fluffy, delicious :) The thing is, you could probably make your own concoction/variation of this. there are only like 5 ingredients. but the price is VERY good considering the things that are in it.

I used this on my daughter's 4b/4c hair; the vanilla scent is heavenly!!! It melts wonderfully when hair is wet, but not so good when dry. I lucked up and used the right amount each time after washing; her hair was soft and moisturized, not greasy or heavy. If your hair loves butters and you tend to do braid/twistouts you might like this product; washNgo curlies not so much.

I ran across the article about Darcy's Botanicals and decided to give it a try. My hair is kinky and extremely thick! Though, I think this product isn't so bad. Unfortunately for my hair, a little does not go a long way, I put at least two quarter size dollops on, but to me it still doesn't do anything at all. It does smell nice, it just isn't for me moisturizing enough. I'm anxious to try other products that claim to hydrate 3-4 hair types, but I'm not too sure anymore.

This stuff is GREAT! The other posters were right in saying a little goes a long way - I use this after my leave in conditioner and it makes my coils defined, soft and shiny. Great to use under the Coiling Jelly.

I wanted to love this line, but no matter how much I played with it, it didn't work for me. No matter how little I used, my hair went flat and greasy. It smells amazing; it is a shame it didn't work for me.

Mmmm, this stuff smells good to me! A little goes a long way and I didn't pay attention to that the first time I used it. I put a healthy amount on my hair... and my hair felt so oily after. So that was user error. The next time I used it, I was careful to not put as much on. I used it as a light moisturizer on my damp hair, then I proceeded to style my hair in twists. My hair was not as oily (great)and it smelled nice. It's not to hold my hair, so I think I will use it to pull my hair back in a puff next time. I had to use additional product for hold. It's nice on my hair... I little heavy, but that can be alleviated if you don't use a lot.
