Not as great as the spin pins. It takes some practice to figure out the best way to get it to work, the directions were horrible and I had to look online for more detailed instructions. Even then I couldn't use it like the directions said to or it pulls way too much and hurts. However, once I figured it out, it is in my stash of keep in purse items for a quick way to put my hair up. I still prefer a regular french twist as I can usually do that as quickly as I can put my hair up with this.
I really like these! Didn't employee any specific technique, just twisted my hair loosely and stuff them in. I did pivot them for a better hold, re-directing the curved end towards or away from my scalp to prevent any pulling. I found quite comfortable and they held well. I bought two of these and two of the spin pins. Have used the spin pins much yet but I may buy a couple more of these just to keep a few handy in different purses, location (i.e. my desk, etc). Also bought them at wal-mart where the price is a bit better.
I have a FULL head of 3b curly hair and expected some setbacks but hoped otherwise thanks to a review about these products working best for curly hair instead of straight fine hair. After using them, my hope dissappeared once my expectations were exceeded. The Modern Updo Maker was VERY hard to get in and pressed even more painfully into my scalp once into position. I got a lovely messy updo that lasted for hours but after a week my scalp is still sore! I figured out ways to get it in a less painful position but it kept falling out; sometimes immediately, others after a couple (2) of hours. On the second use, the round tips turned from dark brown to cream as the coating rubbed away so I can't boast of their quality though it hasn't broken or bent yet. Overall, I give this 2§ because though I wouldn't reccommend to anyone with lots of 3b curly hair, maybe someone with less hair or a different type (wavy or straight) could get better results if willing to risk the amount on the pricetag. Only "value for price paid" would get 5§ from me because I purchased the complete Bundle Pack from Walmart for onl $8.00 + FREE S/H TO HOME, which speaks better of the retailer than the product. I will continue to experiment since I already made the purchase but am definately glad I shopped around and got the cheapest pricetag around!
I wanted to like this product but I just couldn't get it to work. If I made a tight bun it would painfully pull on my hair when I tried to flip it up. If I made a looser bun, it wouldn't hold. I have layered shoulder length thick hair so maybe it's not quite long enough for this product.
Easy to use, and Ive got v thick curly hair. I can hardly feel it. Just in time for the massive heat wave
I'm thinking that maybe I don't know how to use it but i tried so many times to do the styles show in the box without success...is it me? Any sugestion?
Love it! Long gone are the days of a thousand bobby pins holding my hair together for a night out. This tool is so easy to use for a day at the office or a night out on the town!
Who would think this would actually work. It's so basic, but it actually does what it says it does. I don't know why I'm so shocked by that. Maybe because I have a graveyard of accessories that don't...
AMAZING! Easy to use and creates great looks. Perfect for formal events like weddings. They also create great casual looks you can wear to work or on the weekends. I would highly recommend these products, a great way to spice up your hair routine.
