3a-3b. I have to ditto all of the positive reviews from my 3a and 3b sisters. In our regular rotation.

The FHG paired with SS Curl Enhancing Jelly is amazing! The CEJ alone doesn't have enough hold and the FHG alone doesn't give me enough curl definition, but together they are my HG combo! I've also tried the FHG with other jelly-type stylers and even with just a leave-in. I get consistently good results but I really love it with the CEJ so I think I will continue to use a less expensive gel with my other stylers. I'm glad to have finally found a no-fail combination that works in any humidity and all seasons!!

Wow, wow,wow is what I have to say about his gel!!! I have 2c-3a high porosity, medium texture hair and this is my new HG. I have used it with lots of different products and it works perfectly every time. If I'm diffusing and see some frizz popping up, I smooth this on. If my hair needs to be refreshed for an evening out, I smooth this on dry. 2nd day- smooth this on dry hair! Never have I been able to have 2nd or 3 rd day hair....until this. Seriously. It is amazing. I love it with the CEJ too. My only complaint is I'm not a huge fan of the earthy botanical scent (I prefer vanilla/sweet types), but it doesn't linger. I hope this is never discontinued! Will be purchasing the entire line soon. Buy it!

This product kept my ponytails nice slick and smooth. it had a firm hold. Ill be repurchasing this product to experiment some more.

Wow - this is one of the best products I've used! I need firmer-hold gels in the winter to keep the volume and curl definition that I get from scrunching, and this is the best I've used - glycerin-free so it doesn't dry out my hair in low dew points, and the best thing I've found for keeping my hair from falling into flattened waves by the end of the day. It dries super-crunchy, but scrunches out easily to reveal soft and bouncy curls. Even my stylist was impressed! Plus, the price is pretty good compared to most of the other products available from CurlMart.

3B - I've used this product in the past with some mixed results in the summer. I works great in the less humid months. I get good curl formation with very little crunch, if any at times. Has a very slight herbal scent. Medium consistency. Easily finger-combed through hair. I use it in conjunction with the curl enhancing jelly. Two thumbs up!

I absolutely love this stuff when used over the jelly. My hair is so much curlier than it was, and it stays soft all day. My hair doesn't get sticky or stiff. I use a leave-in conditioner to help with frizz, but this product is hands down better than any products that I've used on my hair. I used to buy from a drugstore, and was constantly frustrated with my hair, but now a whole new world has been opened to me! I have way more good hair days.

I love this product! The hod Is great when mixed with the curl enhancing jelly. The two products together work great. It's a heavier hold and weighs down my curls which I like. I definitely will continue to buy.

My 3B hair loves this gel. It is a guaranteed great curl day when I use it. The entire line is fabulous! HG of products!

NO if your hair is anything like mine - loose, fluffy 4a in the crown; a coily, crochet needle sized 4a everywhere else except the random, crimpy, coarser 4b patch over my left ear. My point here is this GEL serves no purpose for hair as coarse and kinky as mine. The first time I tried it was a bust. Applied to clean, "naked" hair with just my Oyin Dew leave in. Blended w/the Jelly (as Spiral Solutions recommends) and the results were so dry, crunchy and "stripped, it frightened me! Hadn't even defined the curl. Immediately rinsed it out. Few weeks later, tried again once I determined which moisturizing butters, milks and sealing oils I wanted to use under and over the Gel/Jelly. My final results were disappointing. Hair didn't feel "crunchy," again, (that was remedied by all the butters, etc.) but when I took out my 2 strand twists, I had a rather stiff, bushy afro with tons of frizz and less definition than when I did NOT use this Gel. CONCLUSION: If you have thick, coarse, strong, 4 a, b, or c hair, you will not be thrilled with the results of this Firm Holding Styling Gel. Am bummed. Wanted to like because of the amazing ingredients.

Finding a styling gel without glycerin that doesn't feel like polyethylene wrap in my hair is not easy. SS Gel does not leave a coating or dry out my hair. It has great hold, too. My hair prefers curl creme to gels, so I probably won't be a regular user of this, but I especially like this in combination with the Spiral Solutions Curl Enhancing Jelly. The Jelly works well with other products, as well, but the definition and hold are fabulous when used with this gel.

This gel is consistently great for my 3a curls. It seems to hold moisture in my hair, giving me huge, springy, spiral curls -- as long as I use enough! If I skimp and use too little, it doesn't give me enough hold. I use it as my final gel with some time of curl cream underneath. I've never tried the Curl Enhancing Jelly but I am planning to buy some and try it with this gel. So far it plays well with every type of curl cream I've used underneath. I've never gotten white flakes from it. It does dry crunchy but scrunches out easily and leaves me with gorgeous, shiny curls -- love it!!

Like all SS products, I love this gel. I scrunch it in on top of Curl Enhancing Jelly. It provides me with enough hold, even in the hot temps with high humidity. This is one of those lines that I can use in all seasons and still get consistently awesome curls !! Highly recommend. It is a great gel with enough hold, but no crunchiness once your hair dries.

For some reason my hair hated this stuff! I tried using it as a wave enhancer, mixed it with CEJ and as a gel and hair fell flat almost every time.

Love, love love it. Combined with the SS Jelly, this works wonders for my hair. Curls are shiny, defined, moisturized and full of volume. I can actually get 2nd day hair with this combo. The fragrance is very nice also, just a clean scent. I use about a quarter size amount and just rake through my hair which is below my shoulders. Let my hair air dry. Flip it over, gently fluff and I'm ready to go. I can't say enough good things about this product combined with the jelly.

I used this with the CEJ and got complete frizz! Definitely not enough hold for my fine hair, very disappointed after reading all the great reviews...

I finally found a natural gel that works with my picky hair! I love this gel, it works great alone on my hair & my daughters waves. Makes our hair shiny, takes away frizz and gives my hair a huge curl boost! When I use it with CEJ it feels thicker, more body and stiffer curls, I think I like it best alone and it holds all day, love it! I'm going to order the rest of her products because this is so perfect & all natural. Thanks Shantelle!

Used this over the Curl Enhancing Jelly. No matter how little I used it always FLAKES!! Whether I raked it in with my fingers or used a Denman for maximum even distribution and it still flaked.

Leaves my hair flaky by the end of the day. I woulnd't buy this product again.

I really like this gel... the texture is great, a little crunchy but easily cruched out. Good hold, good curl formation... BUT... did not like the white flakes! No matter what I tried or paired it with still the white flakes! PLEASE fix and I will use this product faithfully!!

I am having a hard time with this gel. I thought since it was for fine hair it would work great for me but if I use a small amount it doesn't do anything and if I use more my hair doesn't curl right. I will have to experiement more with it. Maybe I need the Curl Enhancing Gel with it. I agree with Curly Suzy, I really wanted to like it but one positive is that it does add shine. I just can't control the curls.

I like this gel quite a lot - and I generally dislike and therefore don't use gels. I get fairly good hold with this, particularly in combination with the curl enhancing jelly, and my hair even remains touchable to the point where I can run my fingers through my hair in the evening and have no tangles (!!!!). It really does need to be used on sopping wet hair, however; if I used it on just damp or wet (but not sopping) hair, I got insane spider-webby frizz with this.

Can be a tiny bit crunchy.

While this gel consistantly encouraged my curls, my results otherwise were inconsistant. Sometimes skinny curls. Sometimes noticeable frizz. Sometimes crunchy (mostly not which was surprising for a firm gel). Okay, but not over the moon.

This is a must product for me to guarantee consistently great hair. Because I like a super firm hold, I layer a couple of beads of BRHG over this product. It offers a hold that is not sticky, adds volume and completely scrunches out to leave soft, smooth waves! My wimpy, wavy hair loves this stuff!

Used it over the Curl Enhancing Jelly (one of my favorite products on its own). I found it no different than using a drugstore firm-hold gel the same way. It slightly dried out my hair, took awhile to scrunch out the crunch, weighed my curls down, AND left tiny white flakes. I wouldn't buy it again.

Great product over a leave-in conditioner. It feels light, clean and gives my curls nice definition.

I really wanted to like this gel. I could never get it to work for me without the white flakes appearing. I tried alone, with the SS Jelly, over a leave-in conditioner and always the white flakes.

IMO this is the best natural gel on the market right now. It is the only gel that I can use in the summer months. I scrunch in some of the FHG over the Jelly. My hair loves the SS line. I always get defined curls, lots of volume and no frizz. It is my go-to combination when I want great hair !!

Love, love, love... I have 4 containers in my stash. I cannot live without this Gel! It holds my curls perfectly and gives them the best clumped, frizz free, shiny coils. I am a Spiral Solutions addict!

I know a lot of people like this stuff but I found that it held OK/well but flaked. Little tiny powder like flakes. I tried it with a variety of leave-ins/no leave-in, mixed with other stylers, etc.. I played with it enough to use up half the tub, but it always flaked. I just couldn't get this to work for me.

I can use this gel in a variety of ways, but it always holds well for me! The only thing I have to watch is using too much but that's just me.

Nice holding gel. Not too firm though.
