SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo is a sulfate-free shampoo that helps moisturize and repair dry Read More...
This is the first Shea Moisture product I've tried. It's also the first shampoo that's ever wowed me. It may be too heavy for fine or oily hair, but for my SUPER thick, thirsty waves, I actually detangled with just this shampoo! I also considered not needing conditioner (I ALWAYS use conditioner) but in the end I used the accompanying argan conditioner. This shampoo left my hair feeling hydrated, not stripped like most shampoos. I'm a co-wash girl, so to be raving about a shampoo is pretty big. I gave some to my 3b best friend and she LOVED it as well. Definitely a keeper! The conditioner is AWESOME as well. I love the gentle, natural ingredients and that I can use these products on my kids/husband as well. True multitaskers.
First off, before I buy any product I check it out on the Skin Deep database (ewg.org/skindeep) You would be surprised the dangerous chemicals manufactures put into their skin care products. I decided to give Shea Moisture a try because the whole product line was ranked 0-3 (low to no toxicity). I was really happy with this shampoo. The smell was nice, it had a low dense foam and it cleansed my hair without leaving it dry. The 13 ounce bottle lasted me a long time as I only use a bit once a week. Overall its a winner in my book.
Now this product is on the expensive side for shampoos, atleast when I purchased it. I have thick 3c/4a hair, i ended up having to use ALOT of this product to even feel like it was enough, and I didnt even feel like It was cleaning my hair!
Amazing! Left my hair super soft and moist. The lather was terrific. It rinsed from my hair so smoothly it felt as though I was rinsing out a conditioner. Would definitely recommend.
I absolutely love this shampoo! It's a very gentle shampoo and leaves my hair moisturized. It also didn't strip the red highlights from my hair either. It, however, doesn't lather much, so I seem to end up using quite a bit of it to clean my whole scalp.
It actually gives some lather which is nice but than again my sensetive scalp sometimes has few red spots after using the shampoo. I dilute it now with water and a conditioner and it works fine. Gets your hair very clean without drying out you hair. I can recommend it.
This stuff revived my hair! It moisturizes my hair even better than some conditioners have that I've used in the past! Not only does it keep the moisture in my hair but it gently cleanses my fine 3c curls. I highly recommend this product.
after making my first purchase of shea moisture during a sale i was excited after reading all the reviews and seeing all the hype on IG. after using the shampoo a couple of times i noticed that it would make my scalp sweat and leave a funny smell, also i do not feel that it was cleaning my hair..i believe the shea butter was coating my scalp which caused build up and a smell. long story short i won't be using the shampoo again.
I'm not a fan of shampoos but this one is one of my favorites. It doesn't dry my hair out and leaves it clean. I usually use it around once a month. Between washes i love to use devacurl no-po
This shampoo smells wonderful, it's clean and natural. The ingredients really made me happy, however, I've found I can't use this product at the roots of my hair or else my scalp becomes incredibly greasy, it is not a pleasant feeling to take a shower and wake up the next day with greasy hair.
Very good shampoo for moisture retension! I lost moisture less fast than usual. And also it helps ther absorbing of other products. My porous strands liked it more than other low-poos.
The product smells great but it left my hair feeling really knotted and matted. Had to follow up with the conditioner or else it would've been a mess. My hair didn't feel soft after the shampoo. Kind of a disappointment.
This shampoo sucked just like the deep conditioner and it smells weird too... Not a pleasant scent FOR SURE. It provides little to no slip as I shampooed my hair. It was just not good with my hair, especially since my hair is super thick.
I just starting using this shampoo and am already impressed. Perhaps I'll change my mind after a couple of months. My initial impression is that there was minimal lather, but still left my hair feeling clean. The biggest accomplishment for this shampoo was that my hair felt super moisturized instead of straw-like or matted. I was easily able to finger detangle my hair a little while I was shampooing my hair in four sections, which I would never attempt with the other shampoos I have used in the past. I see complaints about the smell, but I was neither struck by a great or an unpleasant smell.
This product is one of my favorite shampoos ever! Although I should be using the African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo due to my scalp condition, my hair love this product more! It is very moisturizing and gives me slip so I can finger detangle my hair. It's also very cleansing and I never have to wash my hair more than twice.
3b, Coarse, low-porosity. I love Shea Moisture's Coconut line and the Noni line, so I was excited to try the Raw Shea Butter products. I used this shampoo and its matching conditioner, once. The shampoo is a creamy, elegant cleanser, rich with moisture and plenty of slip. It is high quality and it made my hair feel beautiful. Unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to the overwhelmingly strong fragrance in this product. The scent was so pungent I felt like I had swallowed the product, and it gave me a bad headache with sneezing and coughing. The next morning I felt as though I couldn't get the scent off my hands. I think this is an excellent product, and lots of people will probably love how it smells. I'll continue to use the Coconut and Noni products, but this product makes me hope I never have to smell Shea Butter again.
I"ve never tried using a shampoo on my hair but I have all the the raw shea butter products except the shampoo. I'm thinking about giving it a try.
This is my hands down favorite shampoo! it leaves my hair soft and moisturized without dryness. Cleans and gets rid of buildup without turning my hair into a frizzy mess. I absolutely love it!
this is the best shampoo i've ever used before! this is definitely HG for me. it cleans without stripping and it actually feels moisturizing! that has never happened before. I have 3a, low porosity at my crown and high porosity at the ends, medium width hair.
This is by far the best shampoo I think I've ever used. Unlike most shampoos' this doesn't strip my hair and actually gives pretty decent moisture but it does lack the lather I'd prefer, though it is sulfate free I didn't expect much lather... This product overall is gets 5 curls because of its great moisture, and its ability to deeply clean my coils and curls, and I will definitely will purchase in the future :)
This shampoo will definitely become a part of my staples collection. You just can not beat this all natural shampoo that is free of sulfates. Not to mention it smells awesome!!!! My hair was nice and clean after using the product and did not feel stripped of moisture what so ever. Kudos to Shea Moisture.
First Sheamoisture product thats worked for me. It really is a moisturizing shampoo and I've yet to run into any others. Love. Considering that I don't need to shampoo often this product is a nice buy and not-so-bad price. Will repurchase. Creamy constancy, nice lather, NO STRIP
My husband thought he had dandruff problems until he tried out this shampoo; it turns out he just had a dry scalp that was made worse by harsh, commercial shampoos. He started using this product about a year ago and hasn't had any flaking problems since. It doesn't work great on my hair, but it has been great for his! He has 4b/4c hair.
I used this shampoo when I first transitioned for 8 months (5 years ago), and it is still a rotating staple. This shampoo not only cleans your hair, but your hair does not feel stripped. Follow - up with the moisture retention conditioner and wa-laa, beautiful tresses. Highly recommended for transitioning, you can't go wrong with this product!
Wow, this is the ONLY shampoo that I have used that cleanses my hair and scalp but also moisturizes my hair at the same time!!!!!
I'll stick with this one and the coconut and hibiscus curl and shine. Cleans without stripping and my hair feels moisturized. I can even detangle a little. My search for the perfect shampoo is done.
This one is odd for me. The smell isn't too pleasant. It's lathers well and gets rid of buildup, but it left my hair dry and icky almost like a "gentle sulfate" shampoo. Of all the Shea Moisture products I use, this one is my least favorite.
Love it! Cleans without stripping oils. I've been using it for 2 months and it's worked lovely with the matching conditioner. I feel like goldilocks finding the perfect shampoo- it's not too oily, not too drying, just right.
This shampoo was just ok in my opinion it eventually started to strip my hair I like the curl and shine shampoo much better
When I wash my hair, I typically co-wash. When I'm craving a little more of an old-school, pre CG shampoo experience (which is maybe once or twice a month), this is what I use. I love how my hair feels clean, yet *not* stripped, knotted, and straw-like, which is what my hair is if I use pretty much any other "shampoo" in existence! It's a great price, excellent ingredients, and it works. I just love it!
The only shampoo I will continue to buy. So thick and creamy it's hard to believe that it lathers up so much! Cleans hair well yet leaves hair moisturized.
I really wanted to be able to give this a good review, but the smell is so incredibly strong and perfume-y that I can't sing its praises. The way my hair felt after washing was great--it wasn't stripping, and it wasn't overly moisturizing. I LOVED the ingredients list, especially since I'm a non-toxic product lover with a deep hatred for synthetic fragrances. Unfortunately, I really wasn't prepared--even after smelling the shampoo before buying it--for the fragrance that would linger in my hair for days after washing. Oh, well.
My thick, course 2b hair loves this! It lathers well and doesn't strip my hair at all, it actually adds moisture while cleaning my scalp very well. I do not have a problem with rinsing out this shampoo which I know some people have had issues with and i have truly low porosity hair. It is a little pricey if you are new to the whole curly community, but i use this every time i wash my hair and one bottle has lasted me 6 months. HG alert!
This stuff built up on me REAL fast. Especially at the roots, they were gunky. I hate to knock it because I know lots of people love it. I'm low-porosity and the shea butter just builds up. I do have to say that I liked the SM Coconut & Hibiscus shampoo formulation a lot more than this one, but I don't expect to repurchase that one either. Because it's such a highly rated shampoo, I thought when I bought it was going to be the last low-poo that I would have to try. I was so excited! Oh well, goes to show, always pick products suited to your hair properties, not necessarily just the "hyped" products. Would not recommend for low-porosity hair. Other porosities may have better luck.
I just bought this after reading all the reviews and I've only used it once but after I rinsed it out, my hair felt so soft. I can't ever remember using a shampoo that made my hair feel like this. I didn't even need a lot to get a nice lather going and the smell isn't over powerful like some have said. This will definitely be another staple to my natural hair products.
Love this shampoo! It is non-stripping (I highly dislike the "squeaky clean" feeling most shampoos give!) while leaving my scalp feeling clean. I like all the Shea Moisture shampoos, but this is my favorite. If this is too conditioning/heavy for you, try the baby head-to-toe washes as a poo. They are more stripping but are lighter, in my opinion. My hair is coarse, so I like the rich stuff.
I generally LOVE Shea Moisture products; however, this one didn't "wow" me. I have 4b-4c textured hair. I will say that this product didn't strip my hair of moisture, but it made my hair harder to detangle. I do pre-poo which helps with the detangling process, but I also like shampoos that assist with detangling as well. This product gets your hair clean and the lather is great; however, it makes my curls get really clumped. (no bueno) When using this, I have to add some conditioner to my hair while the shampoo is in it to detangle. I prefer the Coconut Hibiscus shampoo by Shea Moisture.
I love this shampoo for my transitioning hair! It makes it easier to detangle my hair once I condition afterwards. Love the smell as well.
I am probably one of the last to try this Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo. Well, I am so glad I finally did. My relaxed hair really does like it. Like most sulfate-free shampoos, it doesn't lather much, but it left my hair feel cleansed, and moisturized; it almost felt conditioned, all without feeling stripped. I'm sorry that it took me so long to try it but I'm really glad that I did. I will be purchasing more. UPDATE: I left my hair down today, and all day I couldn't stop touching it. At the end of the day, my hair still feels soft and moisturized and I love the scent! Just in time, CVS had the Shea Moisture Hair line on sale BOGO Free. I purchased 2 bottles and will probably by two more before the week is out.
Dare I rail against the Holy Grail? By the time I finally rinse SheaMoisture out of my hair, for it takes me far longer than any other shampoo, my hair is dry and knotted. The scent, moreover, is awful and sticks to my hair and my hands, no mater how long I rinse. I used SheaMoisture last night t after not using it for several months, and I had to wash what lingered of the shampoo and that awful stink this morning.
I had to buy another bottle of this because my boyfriend (who also has curly hair, but his is much coarser) used up my first bottle. It's the only hair product of mine he's ever stolen! I love the smell, and it doesn't cause my hair to tangle. It cleans well enough for me because I very rarely styling products that build up, so I basically use it to clean my scalp after a sweaty summer day. If I want a more deep cleaning, I use something else that's not as moisturizing.
So far, this is the best shampoo I've tried - and I've tried A LOT of them. My hair loves it. I just finished my first bottle today. It does a great job cleaning my curls, but it doesn't strip all of the moisture out of my hair.
Love it. No paraben, no sulfate, no cones. The perfect shampoo for my hair. Love Shea Moisture products, also love the masque
This is a great sulfate free shampoo. It's moisturizing, but leaves me with a clean scalp. However, I gave this 4 curls because I hate the smell. It has an intense earthy herbal smell that isn't as terrible in the bottle, but on my hair it was gross. It lingered in my hair until I washed it again 3 days later. It's a great product, but smell it first!!!
I like this shampoo, but I have to rotate it since the shea butter can be too much for my low-medium porosity hair.
I was really excited to try this shampoo because I had heard such great things about it. I wasn't drastically impressed nor was I dramatically let down either. My strands were a little dry after rinsing this out but not nearly as dry as they have been using other products. I'm not a person who needs my cleansers to lather, so that effect was neither here nor there for me. My scalp was clean after using this product but it still felt itchy (which is one way my scalp tells me it's time to cleanse). Because I have an amazing deep conditioner to follow it with, i'll finish this bottle but I don't expect to repurchase this. I will note that I did not pre-poo previous to using this product simply because when I use something for the first time I want to see the the raw results before I add anything extra. That being said, the next time I use this product I will pre-poo first and see if I get better results.
This shampoo is awsome!! I love the fact that is "organic" and it doesn't have sulfates. It has a surprisingly super rich lather, even more than the sulfate-free shampoos I've used. Plus, it leaves my hair super soft after rinsing. The only thing fishy is the smell... I just can't identify that freakin' smell.. Anyways, this is totally a staple!
This shampoo was alright. My hair didn't feel stripped and overly dry. It didn't wow me though, which is why I'm only giving it 4 curls. I'll use this up until it's done, but I'll most likely check out a different shampoo. Probably the coconut & hibiscus one.
I love Shea Moisture's products! This shampoo has the worst smell I have ever smelled in my entire 18 years. It is so rancid and disturbing! But I had to tough it out because my hair felt so good after I washed it. But the smell ugh! YUCK!
I was introduced to this shampoo after purchasing the shea moisture color system hair dye (light blonde). After applying the dye, I followed up with the retention shampoo which was awesome. It didn't dry my curls out and left my hair moisturized even before I applied the conditioner. It's good stuff!!
I love this so much. I can't put a name on the smell but its not that bad. It left my hair feeling softer even thought my hair is naturally soft. I didn't see much of my curls though, it was really puffy and my 3c hair likes to show off its curls. Other that that, great product and this will defiantly be used alot more by me!!!
This is my favorite shampoo (if it even is one) my 3b & 3c hair was tangle free after I finished, and my hair didn't feel stripped at all, finished with SheaMoisture Raw Shea Restorative Conditioner, and was ready to leave face humidity .
I love this brand; bought their baby shampoos, and face moisturizers etc... I bought both the shampoo and the conditioner. I love the ingredients and the smell. I have 3 types of hair: straight, fine at the bottom; 2A, medium in the middle; and 3B, fine hair on top. At first I loved the fact that these left my hair soft without harsh chemicals. But I realized that my hair was slickly. I thought maybe I didn't rinse my hair well enough. Apparently it wasn't my fault; unfortunately these weigh my curls down. So, I am not using them anymore. But since I like the ingredients, instead of throwing them away, I have started using them for my son who also has curly hair :)
I love this shampoo! It doesn't strip my hair. It doesn't leave my hair matted or extremely tangled.
I'm currently using this shampoo and I love it. I use it around every 3 days. It' doesn't have any harsh ingredients and doesn't strip my hair of moisture when I wash it. It's given me a lot more volume which I love because my hair usually falls flat.
Wonderful!! A little works wonders. I dislike the conditioner. It does nothing for me but this shampoo is great.
I dont think this works for my 4a hair. It didn't provide any slip and it leaves my hair feeling and looking dry. I even tried it 3 times to be sure it wasnt just my imagination. This is a big NO in my book.
Best moisturizing natural shampoo out! Smell is a little strong but I will get over since it does the job!
I used this when I was transitioning. Then when I went natural I started using Carol's Daughter Monoi collection so I gave this to my boyfriend. Since then I've bought my own again. I love this line! It makes my fair so soft and manageable. I love the way it smells and hope that they continue to produce this line!
This is the best shampoo I have ever used. It lathers well in my 4c hair (I love bubbles) and leaves it clean. My hair can be a little rough afterwards but once I use the moisture retention conditioner or any other brand, I have nothing to worry about.
This is the best natural shampoo next to Giovanni. My hair is always soft and clean after I use this shampoo.
I Love this shampoo...my hair didn't feel stripped at all and felt like I had used conditioner making it easy to detangle with this alone. A little goes a long way since it's really thick making it worth the price not to mention all of the good ingredients in it.
I love this stuff. I have to wash my hair every week because of my scalp condition and this and the Jason Tea Tree shampoo TOTALLY gets it done for me. LOVE. IT.
This was the first natural product I purchased and I instantly fell in love with it. I used it when I was relaxed and I didn't even have to use a comb. During my transition, this helped so much with managing the two textures. I loved it then and I love it now.
I use this in my hair (relaxed) my daughter's hair (4a/3c) and my husband's hair (natural waves). All of us love this product. For unique hair reasons, besides the obvious natural hair no no's, I have to find products that are glycerin, protein, lemon, and coconut free. This is one shampoo that I really like. It is moisturizing and not stripping unlike other shampoos. I only use this on my daughter's scalp, but it cleans very nicely and has a great smell. This is the first shampoo that I have used where I was ALMOST fooled into not conditioning her hair afterwards...lol...almost. Good job. Don't change the ingredients please...
I am 4c. When I use shampoo ; I really like this one. It leaves 4c soft which is pretty good for a shampoo. I am not sure about all the claims "moisturize & repair" because this is a shampoo and that would be pretty difficult to accomplish with other products. I will keep in my regimen for now.
Like i said for the conditioner.. This product was good when i was transitioning but once i became completely natural... NO GO! It somewhat dried my hair wasn't as moisturizing as it claims..
i ABSOLUTELY love this stuff! It leaves my hair moisturized and a little bit goes a long way :) Even though $10 is a little pricey, I don't mind paying for it because it helps my hair! This is a must buy for everyone!
Its the best moisture retention shampoo I have ever had and I am a hair product junkie! Although the bad news is my hair didn't feel clean at all, the smell is way too strong and too earthy for my liking, and feels too much like an conditioner. But, I reccomend adding organic honey to this mixture just to add intense moisture or for a deep conditioning treatment. I am at a love/hate relationship with this one. I am also allergic to it (sneezed for at least 2 days) and the smell sticks with you so it feels like you haven't rinsed it out at all! EVERYONE should try this out! Even though I had trouble with it, it was voted best shampoo in Allure magazine so it must be worth it. It also lasts a long time too so it's great for anyone else but me.
I had really high expectations for this stuff, considering its overall 5 curl rating, but I was sadly disappointed. Perhaps because I've been co-washing and using DevaCurl No-Poo, this stuff seemed like going back to the horrible days of regular shampoo. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I poured the sodium laureth sulfate atop my head, but whatever this "Decyl Glucoside" ingredient is, it leaves a residue on my hair. I've noticed it from other shampoos I've tried containing this ingredient, it literally feels like I washed my hair with soap. Ick.
I LOOOOVE this as a clarifyer! It doesn't leave my hair stripped at all, and it lathers nicely. It helps me get rid of buildup, too. I plan to use it every 2-4 weeks. I just took off one curl because I don't think it provides a significant amount of hydration like it says, but it certainly doesn't take away too much. It's perfect for CGers who cowash and need a way to clean their hair every once in a while without totally stripping it dry. Smells great, too!
This is by far the best shampoo I have ever used. Before this product, my expectations of shampoo in general were pretty low. I expected them to clean my hair and that was is. I never knew a shampoo could moisturize and detangle like a conditioner! Well this product DOES. It even lathers really well, even though it's organic. My favorite product by Shea Moisture.
Where has this stuff been all my life? Seriously. Where? It cleaned my 2bish curls without stripping, smells freekin' wonderful, is protein free annnnnnd didn't make my hair squeak. Love Love Love it. More pleassssse.
I really like this shampoo I have 3b curls and I feel as though this does cleanse my scalp without over-drying. I also was surprised at how well this product lathers.
This product is so refreshing. It instantly softens and moisturizes my hair and goes straight to the roots! I like that it is sulfate-free and good for transitioning. Right now, I have a relaxer, but I will not be getting anymore, especially if this product continues to revive my hair like it does, and I'm sure it will.
I LOVE this shampoo. And I will not go back to anything less. It's $12.99. I use a quarter sized amount and had lots and lots of suds, mind you there are NO sulfates no harsh chemicals at all. This shampoo had my hair soft, curly and in love. I love this!!! Even after I rinsed it out, my hair was extremely soft. I felt like a baby.
A MIRACLE!!!! I tried Miss Jessie's Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo and Creme de la Creme Conditioner and afterward my hair was looked like I had given up on taking care of it YEARS ago (not the business). I tried this line on a whim and Great Heavens to Betsy, this was "The Truth" (as they say). So Moisturized! My hair felt more moisturized after just shampooing (which NEVER happens to my hair)! A miracle in a bottle!!!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!! This shampoo (barely call it that) is so good! It doesnt strip my hair of nutrients like other shampoos and it leaves my hair so soft! The key is to only work through on the scalp and massage it in to clean the scalp and it makes my hair so soft its almost like a conditioner..i really recommend this to anyone with thick hair
I Love This Product. I love the way it makes my hair smell and I love the tingly feeling on my scalp after a wash. It Lathers up good and softens hair when it is washed out. Compared to the products I used to you, Garnier Fructis, this is a much better fit for my afro-centric hair! Strongly recommend. It's worth the ten bucks!
Rich. This product is very rich. On my oily scalp, I had to use about half as much shampoo as I do with any other brand. It came out of the bottle very thick, and just rich. I got a surprising amount of lather, yet it didn't leave my hair feeling stripped. My hair felt smooth and lightly moisturized as I rinsed it out. I've only used it once (this morning) but so far, this seems to be an excellent choice for anyone with an oily scalp. It gave me a strong enough lather to make my scalp feel clean with just one application, and yet didn't totally strip my length of moisture.
Luv the smell. I really cant say that it did wonders or nothing for my hair. Let me just say that I hate the BOTTLE, its like pulling teeth to get the product out of the bottle.
This shampoo is the absolute Best! It leaves my hair feeling clean and soft! It smells awesome and it's organic! I live, love, laugh Shea Moisture! ;0)
Love this stuff...gives my hair super moisture and leaves my hair clean w/o it being squeaky clean.
Right now I am in the process of transitioning and it has been extremely difficult trying to find a shampoo that works with both hair textures. This shampoo did not give my hair a stripped feeling and moisturized my hair surprisingly well. The shampoo does feel like it weighs down your hair a bit but i don't think it should be an issue. A GREAT PURCHASE.
Definately hands down my favorite shampoo. It is very moisturizing and helps to stretch my 4c hair which is great since I have a lot of shrinkage. Also it gets my hair sooo soft where I'm able to just run my fingers through my hair in the shower. Lovely smell and love that its all natural.
I love this shampoo! I agree with others that this one could likely stand on its own without a conditioner. Definitely moisturizes your hair, just like it says!
I really like this shampoo, it lathers well and cleans without over-drying or tangling. It smells good too, and is a great price for the quality. The one thing is that the product itself is oddly sticky, and though the stickiness goes away once in your hair, it is rather inconvenient at first. Overall a great buy!
I like this shampoo. I have 4a, fine, low porosity hair and this shampoo is good but I prefer the coconut & hibiscus product alot more. I think the heavier oils in this one makes my hair weigh my hair down and I feel like there s a coating on my hair even though my scalp feels clean - not my idea of clean hair. I still use it interchangeably with the coconut & hibiscus poo. Will rebuy on a sale but the coconut & hibiscus is my go too. In fact I adore the entire coconut & hibiscus line!
I Love this !!! at first i wasnt enjoying the shampoo, then i compared it to a sulfate shampoo and i saw a MAJOR difference, thats when i saw the significance of this product, the only thing i don't like is how hard it is to squeeze the shampoo out of the bottle!
This product is a bit hard to get throughout your hair, but easily messaged onto your scalp. Which is really all you need it to do. If you are transitioning into the curlygirl method, it will feel quite different then regular shampooing, but your hair won't feel like straw afterwords unlike regular shampoos. I think this product works great, as long as you are not using any products with build up ( silicones etc.). It lasts quite a long time, especially if you aren't using products that cause build up, and you are only washing your a couple times a week. All in all, I think its a pretty good product, and it has helped with my frizzing. * I will only give products 5 curls, if they are a miricle in a botle. Which I don't believe exsists! lol
I gave this product 4 curls simply because of the smell. I love the product itself but the smell makes me think of my grandma's church perfume (STRONG). If you like that strong smell then you would like this. If you like a lighter scent I would go with the coconut and hibiscus one
This is an okay product but it is best used when you are wearing your natural hair color. It also has a tendency to strip hair and maybe best used as a clarifying shampoo.
This is an amazing shampoo! I've only used it once on my 3C/4A hair, but from the moment I put it in my hair, it felt so moisturized and soft. I honestly didn't even feel like I needed to use conditioner after this shampoo. Of course I did, but this shampoo is def a curly girls dream. I'm still experimenting with the rest of the Shea Moisture which does not seem to be as good as this shampoo, which is too bad because I like to use a complete line of products. Anyway, try this shampoo, you won't be disappointed!
This shampoo has been inducted into my holy grail of products!!! I have never in my life used a shampoo that made my hair feel so soft. It suds up really thick and I love the smell. Definitely a keeper.
I LOVE this shampoo & it's companion conditioner!!! honestly the best $10 I've spent on myself.
I have tried a lot of moisturizing shampoos but this stuff is like liquid gold. I used 2 quarter sized drops on my hair and it went a long way. It lathers well and definitely defines the curls in my hair. I have two bottles and I pray that I will always be able to get this at my local walgreens. I love this shampoo.
i think this is prob my FAVE sheamoisture product and possibly even favourite product ever... I'm currently transitioning and can honestly say i never thought a shampoo could be so moisturizing, i hav four of these in my bathroom because I loved it that much. I just wish they made it in larger quantity (if they do I dont know about it yet) It completely moisturizes my hair but also cleans it very efficiently, i don't have to use a lot either, i have pretty dense hair and i just line my fingertips and massage my scalp in four diff sections after its wet of course. Most of the times I cant resist running my fingers through my hair in a mini-detangle, because its that moisturizing.
This is easily the best shampoo I have ever used. It moisturizes without weighing down my fine hair, but what amazes me most is that it really cleanses my hair and scalp as well. I have kind of an oily scalp, and this shampoo really cleans away the excess oil without stripping and drying out my hair. Somehow they have found the magical balance between moisturizing and cleansing, at least for me. The smell is perfumier than I like my shampoos to be, but I have gotten used to it, and the other benefits totally outweigh the scent. My hair and scalp feel very healthy and happy.
LOVE this shampoo! Super moisturizing, gives a nice lather, smells like shea butter lol. I love that I don't have to use a lot to get my hair and scalp clean (I put my hair in about 8-12 sections when washing and i use a dime amount per section). I feel like it pre-detangles my hair because I can run my fingers through my hair before putting a drop of conditioner on my hair. I love it would definitley recommend this product!
I would definitely recommend this product to all my natural divas out there it really does keep your hair manageable. It smells really good and very gentle to your hair i love this product and definitely will be using this often for my hair
It might make you no-poo gals, come back to the other size. The slippage is amazing on this product and the price tag is right! this is my staple!
This is the best shampoo! It cleans very well but it doesn't strip the hair. I don't shampoo often... but this is the only shampoo I use when I do.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! I was HOOKED after one use! My hair is more manageable and my curls are more !defined
LOVE THIS SHAMPOO!!! First shampoo EVEr I have tried that leaves my hair silkie without silicones! I love it, I even washed with it twice and no stripping! Only thing I don't love is the smell :-(
I love this shampoo! It left my hair super soft after I used my clarifying shampoo. The smell is wonderful and it doesn't take a lot of product to get a good lather. The price is awesome and I can just drive right up the street to pick it up. I highly recommend this.
Hi Curlies, First, I must say, I am a die hard fan of Shea Moisture. I love the Raw Shea Butter line. This is my ultimate fav Shampoo. When I tell you this stuff lasts--because you only need a little bit to build up lather (. I go through the Conditioner weekly (as use it as a leave as well) but the shampoo lasts me months (I shampoo twice a week max). It even detangles as you're shampooing. -Samii
WOW! I just tried this product and it left my hair feeling so clean, soft, and extremely moisturized. I also noticed more curl definition than with other shampoos. Fantastic ingredients! The price is great and I will continue using this product.
Amazing shampoo! It's got the most lovely buttery-scent, nothing fake or pefumey. It lathers very nicely, and gentle cleans the scalp without stripping it of its oils. It also leaves your hair very soft after you rinse it out! Not to mention the price is awesome compared to most sulfate-free shampoos out there! And its cruelty free ^.^ Go out and get it now!
This is the BEST shampoo I've ever used. Simply because it is the only "moisturizing shampoo" that actually moisturizes my super dry and parched 4B hair. I think I may have the driest hair and scalp on the planet (eczema as well), and this is the only shampoo that left my hair feeling soft, moist, not stripped, and the scent is lovely. I don't have any natural oils in my hair to begin with so instead of "not stripping my hair of natural oils," this stuff "added the natural oils I was lacking!" I was also able to detanlge my hair (using my fingers) with the shampoo alone. And a little goes a long way. Again, I have super thick coarse hair, and a quarter size amount covered my whole head with lather. The only problem? I followed up with the deep conditioning masque. That stuff is horrible!
i love this shampoo, i've been using it since the better part of spring onward and it's the best shampoo i've used. I've tried different types such as carol's daugher, garnier fructis and this one has out shone them. It leaves my hair moist, clean but with slip and i don't have to use alot to get a slight later on my scalp. This is definitely a keeper as well as the entire line of Raw Shea butter products of the SheaMoisture line. I suggest if you're not happy with what you have give SheaMoisture a try, you most likely won't regret it.
A very good product. However, I just couldn't get past the scent any longer; gave me a headache. So, after six months, I am no longer using this product.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this shampoo. It leaves my hair feeling like pure silk. All Curlies should purchase this product. Its truly fantastic!!
this product is GREAT!!! It gave my hair sooooo much moisture!! It's my new go-to! I'm in LOOOOVE! lol
FINALLY a shampoo that I don't have to be scared to use! It left my hair feeling soft and moisturized and gave my wavy-curls a nice boost. It has a bit of lather to it, which is a very nice change from the other CG poos I've used. I have very coarse and porous hair so I still needed my rinse out and leave in conditioners (as I had expected I would). Will continue to use and hope for the same good results!
I recently purchased this product and have since tried it on my Sister's(4b) hair and my Daughter's(3c/4a) hair. This product is awesome! On both hair types it left the hair feeling extremely moisturized and soft. It smells nice, and has a very slippery texture. I also found that not much is needed to shampoo a whole head of hair whither TWA or Mid back length hair. Plus it is easy to get at Target. I cant wait for my shampoo day.
Now a staple product of mine! Leaves hair feeling conditioned before I even get to conditioning! I just wish they made a conditioner; I haven't gotten around to their deep treatment mask.
LOVE IT! This shampoo does what it says....it's gentle, softens and is very moisturizing. My 3c/4a and my daughter's 4b hair felt very soft and moisturized after washing without feeling stripped. Finally! My search for THE perfect all-natural shampoo is over.
Excellent! I LOVE this shampoo. Very moisturizing, nice cleansing lather. Have no desire to try any other shampoo. This is the best of the bestll!
The 1st sulfate free poo I've used that actually lathers beautifully but doesn't strip my hair. Decyl glucodisde is the lathering agent (which is gentle on hair and the environment). I wouldn't go as far as to say that this poo left my hair moisturized, but it definately got my hair and scalp clean and fresh, but not stripped. My search for a gentle poo is officially over.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff!!!! This is by far one of the best sulfate-free poos i've ever had to cleanse my hair. Its especially useful if I clarified my hair with a ACV (apple cider vinegar) diluted mixture before washing it. Helped my hair to "grab" the moisture from the product = AWESOME
Love the shampoo. It gives me some slip and it's easy to detangle with before I do a DT with the masque. Grr! Why aren't there any targets closer to San Francisco! (That don't require me to have a car. lol)
Ppl, if you are allergic to Coconut as I am then THIS IS THE SHAMPOO FOR YOU!!!! it was almost impossible to find a shampoo for me that doesnt contain coconut to the point where I had to start making my own, and I am just too lazy for that,LOL.I was fortunate enough to find a full bottle for swap at a Natural Hair Gathering.I have 3C-4A hair and I love the way it cleanses my hair. 12 fl oz for under $10.00 is the icing on the cake. I will definately be buying.
