They aren't kidding about a "little" product, the bottle is tiny! The price is a little steep, but it works pretty good for my hair, which is fine and wavy-curly and prone to hanging kind of lanky if I don't poof it up. Follow the directions about shaking it well before use (it looks weird in the bottle before you shake it), but I don't think the directions about spraying it onto your roots work. I've sprayed it lightly onto wet hair, then worked it on, and I've also sprayed it into my hands and then worked it into my wet hair, and when it's dry it's really bouncy, even close to my head. Spraying it on my roots didn't do anything. I use it with other products and it doesn't leave in any build-up, and it doesn't smell like anything to me.
This product only worked for me because I didn't follow the directions on the bottle, and I was using it in conjunction with the Original Moxie Mane Tame and the Tigi Bedhead Glaze Haze. 1. I didn't scrunch my hair. As my hair dried, my waves came out, and looked a lot better, and more natural than when I scrunced. 2. I didn't spray it on my hair. I put some in my hand and applied concentrating on the tips of my hair and working my way up. This avoided having the crunchy, fake looking waves. 3. When I was just using it with the Main Tame, my hair would start to frizz towards the end of the day. Applying a little bit of the Glaze Haze before applying the Sweet Poof solved this problem.
Ok finally I have it figured out. I use duck clips to do separate parts of my hair at a time, and I spray directly onto the hair. I use a good 4 or 5 sprays. Doesn't weigh down the hair, and I get great volume. I plop my hair in a t-shirt right when I get out of the shower, apply the styling products including this one, and put the whole deal up in duck clips to let it dry for an hour. After an hour, great volume, no crunch or grease or weight and moderately good shine. All in all I like it, just like I said before wish it was cheaper.
Definitely good stuff. I like that it doesn't require heat activation like most other volumizers, and that it's sulfate-, paraben-, silicone-, and alcohol-free. Does a decent job giving my super fine, thin 3a hair a nice boost, and I feel like it makes the curls tighter and curlier too, which is nice. The only problem with it is that it was tough to strike the perfect balance between too little and too much. Too little and the hair is still flat, too much and it's weighed down. I find that 2 squirts is just perfect for my length of hair, down my back. Also squirt it into your hands and then work through, not straight into the hair like it says on the bottle, and definitely don't scrunch like it says on the bottle. First of all there's no need to, it'll give plenty of volume as it dries regardless of scrunch (I also air dry my hair up on top of my head in duck clips for extra natural volume). Second of all, scrunching curly hair (at least mine) makes for very frizzy hair once it dries. Just work it through and let it sit and do its magic. I use this in conjunction with JessiCurl Gelebration Spray and Mop Top Anti-Frizz Gel, and my hair is very happy! Also it says that it smells like cherry candy, it doesn't. I was actually happy for that, though, because I hate cherry candy. It smells almost like cinnamon to me. In any case it smells good, and since it works fairly well too, I'd say it's a good buy.
