I was so disappointed. I didn't think it was possible for a 'Climate Control Gel' to make my hair even more frizzy. The second I took down my two strand twists, my hair shrunk into my skull! I have a great deal of shrinkage, but I have never seen my hair shrink that fast... How is that even possible?!?! I tried the gel after a fresh wash/moisturizing session and then again after two days. SMH... Horrible. Thank goodness I kept my receipt, because I ran back to Ulta for a refund!
3a, low porosity, thin/fine hair Not a fan. It left my hair crunchy and stringy. Dried it out and makes it snarly. I'm not a fan of ouidad products, especially the ingredients they use.
How does the company that preaches about sulfate and silicone free products - make this product with silicones?
This is one of those products I have on stand-by at all times. I do love experimenting with other stylers but I can always count on coming back to this one when I need something that will work consistently.
I would have never tried this product but I received a sample of it. I have never been a gel person, in the past I tried a lot of them but this one is good. I still don't love it as much as my Curls Rock which I will never give up, but now I am alternating between the two of them. I am glad I got the sample and ordered a bottle of this gel
Type 3a/3b curl pattern with low porosity. I received two samples and was a bit disappointed. This did nothing for my hair, just left a frizzy crunchy mess. I really wish this had worked, it has such amazing reviews, but I am thinking this product is made up of things my low porosity curls cannot absorb? Either way I am just glad I did not splurge on this!
Ouidad nailed the humidity issue for people with curly hair. Thee best humidity control gel on the market.
If it's from Ouidad...it's going to be awesome. This gel does a great job at defining my waves and keeping frizz to a minimum. Which is crucial around August in Texas... A little crunchy (my fault, I put too much) but it was nothing a little oil couldn't zap out. Love this gel!
This is the best gel I have ever tried and I've tried quite a few. Its very light so it doesn't weigh your curls down but keeps the humidity out so there is no frizz and my hair doesn't expand in the high humidity.
Love the lightness of this product and the way it really does control the frizz on the hot, humid days here in Atlanta!
For the warmer and more humid months of the year or in the winter during a warm, wet slushy snowstorm or the foggy days of snow melting and steam rising up from it ,this is my favorite gel. I have to laugh at the people who say this is crunchy. All gels dry crunchy into a cast that holds your curls as they dry. Once your hair is bone dry you are supposed to break the cast by either lightly scrunching or running your hands along the side of it as if you are starting a ponytail. Then your style is done. You are not supposed to run around all day in a crunchy cast! Also despite the thinness of this gel it is a a stong gel and probably is not best for wavy, lightly curly hair . To soften rub some conditioner or a water soluble silicone on your hands before you break the cast. In the winter or on cool dry days I only leave in my conditioner or a lighter hold gel like moisture lock or even loreal for curly hair gel when I am on a low budget .I have 3 A, B, and C below shoulder length hair with both fine and regular and course texture. I have low porosity in most of my hair except for the fine hair at the nape of my neck.
To be marketed a a "Smart Gel" it's not too bright! It did absolutely nothing for my curls and left my hair feeling dry and plastic feeling. Much cheaper drugstore brands are far better! So sad I wasted so much money on the 3 products I bought in this line.
I liked the way the gel worked the way it say it was supposed to do. I did have frizz and it also molded my curls beautifully though. I would recommend this to any 3B curly girls but the prices is a little to high for my budget right now.
I was finally able to try this out for a week. This is the best gel I've used in 30+ years, hands down. I love the fact that it does not feel or look like gel but styles my 3B curls beautifully. I was using eco styler argan oil but definitely prefer climate control. I will work this into my budget from now on. It works great with giovanni direct leave in. UPDATE: After 3 weeks, my sensitive scalp is reacting badly to this gel. My hair loves it, scalp does not. I'm going back to my ecostyler.
This is an amazing, "never leave home without it" product. I have used this on my hair (3a-4a), my sister's hair (super course, super thick 2b 3a) and several others with straight to 4c type hair. If applied correctly and completely, this product makes your hair absolutely humidity resiatant. It rocks!! I have been in and out of the haircare industry for years. I don't however, do hair. During that tims, I have experienced hundreds of techniques and products. Nothing compares to this one. You won't be disappointed. But be sure to learn a technique that allows you to cover every hair with product. Rake And Shake is a good start.
Maybe, just maybe, I haven't figured out how to make this product work wonders for my hair. I have to admit that I like that it doesn't feel gunky and sticky like other gels and it seems to play well with my other hair products but I never seem to get my curls to really "pop" with this. Hopefully by the end of the bottle I'll figure it out. Until then, I give it a 3.
the best for anti-frizz. Great in any kind of hot/humid weather. Does not make hair limp, can keep curls defined. I am never without this, and try to get large bottles, as well as always have a travel size for trips - it's a must-have for any curlygirl. I have tried other anti-frizz products, but always come back to this.
I left a bad review for this product previously but have to revise it. I've switched up my routine and have used this as my "middle" product with success. I apply this on sopping hair, right out of the shower, rake it through really well and make sure to use enough, then top with a gel. It has been working great, and I love the smell. I don't think I was using enough before, and I was trying to use it as a gel, but for me I needed to be using it as my curl enhancer layer (like I use FSG, okra gel, UFDCM, SS CEJ). Then put a gel on top. I have coarse, normal to high porosity 2c-3a hair.
I have 3a curls that are prone to frizz and dryness if I am not using good products. I normally use curl creams (TIGI curls rock curl amplifier), but I got this gel as a gift when I bought the shampoo and conditioner. Overall, I was pretty impressed with it. It isn't sticky like a gel and does not leave my hair feeling crunchy at all. It didn't make my hair frizzy and I think it may have helped tame the frizz, which is a big deal for me living in Florida. It does a good job defining the curls, but it did not hold as well as I like. It held good for a few hours, but not as long as my normal curl cream. I would recommend it and would probably purchase again. I have only used it once so I am definitely looking forward to see how it is going to do after more uses.
This product is amazing! It will work wonders for the look and feel of your curls! Get the whole experience with a Ouidad cut as well. If you live anywhere near Central Florida, please call us to get started on the Ouidad system and cut! Salon Ciseaux 407-865-5881
My success with this product was very inconsistent. I really loved how my stylist did my hair at the Ouidad flagship salon in NY but after that it dried out my hair. I've started using Shea Moisture and so far I love it. IDK but maybe it's the sulfates or silicones in Ouidad??? I have 2a/2b curls
Absolutely in love! I have tried millions of products and none of them have worked like this! I use this with climate control shampoo and conditioner and it works every time! Could not be more satisfied! Thanks ouidad!
LOVE THIS PRODUCT! If you don't use it right your curls won't turn out good. It made my hair soft and so defined everyone kept complementing me saying this is the best my hair has ever looked, and my hair is always on point lol. I also used their leave in conditioner. It sectioned my hair and first applied the leave in and then the gel and raked it through and diffused. The results were amazing! I just wish it wasn't so expensive. I was able to get the $5 sale they recently had. I got 6 samples and 2 full size products!
Honestly, this is the best product I have used thus far. I had used this product BEFORE getting an offical OUIDAD CARVE & SLICE haircut. I wasn't getting the best results, but it was damn better than what I had been using before. This gel though has a weight to it will NOT weigh your curls down and there is NO CRUNCH, I hate crunch. I finally went to a Ouidad stylist and told her I had already been using the Climate Control gel as well as the moisturizer and spray. Here is where my Ouidad Climate Control experience went to a whole new level. I watched as my stylist used the gel throughout my hair, as we was taught and guided by the Ouidad Flagship intensive training (look it up, it's some serious training). The key is the Rake and Shake, a Ouidad technique. You simply take a section of hair about as wide as your first three fingers (minus your thumb) into your palm with a quarter (or more, you want your hair wet with gel) of the Climate Control gel in it. Rake the gel throughout the section of hair between your fingers until saturated, be sure to get your roots! Once she finished off each section of my hair she used a DIFFUSER on low heat to set the gel, as this get is HEAT ACTIVATED. Let me tell you, my hair looked STUNNING FOR 3 DAYS, and ever since watching her my hair has looked FLAWLESS since using Climate Control. I hadn't been diffusing it with a blow dryer or putting enough of it in. THE KEY TO MAKING ANY PRODUCT WORK IS TO USE IT AS IT IS MEANT TO BE USED, NOT BY YOUR OWN MEANS. After realizing I wasn't nailing the technique right, I changed how I used the product and I haven't looked back. If you really take the time to understand how the creator of the product intends you to use it, the product, whether Ouidad or not will surprise you!
This product was so disappointing. I bought a whole starting line of their products as they claimed to be " curl experts" and I was not impressed with any of their products. Dried out my hair more.
This was just okay. It was really thin and didn't do much for my hair. As far as humidity control goes, I really didn't notice a difference. 3c/4a
The bomb.com!!! I absolutely love this product. My curls were defined and in place. I used a leave in to add softness. I will be buying other products from Ouidad.
Did absolutely nothing for my hair and I've tried it several times. It did NOT help with humidity, had a very light to no hold, still had frizz galore. There are tons of other products that work much better, and at a much lesser price. Will not repurchase.
This product it great at controlling flyways and the frizzies. I find the best results when I mix a drizzle of it with a curly hair mousse, like the whipped cream like one from Dove. Works great for winter climate and summer!
I love this gel for my 3A curls! I apply it lightly in sections to my hair from root to tip in the summer months and get AMAZING results!! My hair is frizz free, soft and shiny! The added protection from diffusing is also nice!
Only good for summer time and humid days. Otherwise it makes my hair untouchable and stiff. A+ humidity control.
I really liked this products results, especially in terms of definition, my hair was soft, curls softer and wider and shiny. Still, there is ONE BIG CON: It leaves a flaky powder in my hair, so I would be enthusiastic about trying some other product that achieves similar results and no flakiness, as this is quite too expensive to leave cheap gel residues at the base of my hair.
Great product for preventing frizz on those dangerous hot and humid days, however use a light hand if you don't want hair to be crunchy.
I am a regular user of curl creams for my dry, 3a/b hair. I don't like the crunchy, sticky feel of most hair gels, and they usually cause flakes and frizz. I had a sample of Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel, and, for kicks, I gave it a try on a day when I felt my hair was hopeless. I couldn't believe the results; particularly in the area of definition. Note - I still always use leave-in conditioner and/or curl cream, but I add this gel to the mix to eliminate all poofs and provide hold. This serum-like product is completely non-sticky, and it disappears into my hair. It provides natural curl definition without a hint a frizz. I still cannot believe what this "gel" can do. There is no stickiness, crunch, or clumping! Lately, my "secret" is to use a bit of this gel with Ouidad Hydrafusion Curl Cream. Wow! Even in the driest of dry weather my hair is soft and bouncy. Another huge plus for me is that this does not have the allergic-reaction-inducing spicy-perfumey fragrance of other Ouidad gels. It has a mild, soapy scent that does not project from my hair. I never thought I could regularly use a hair gel, but I am truly impressed with this one. Strangely, I am using it for the opposite of "humidity", as the dew points have been quite low here in the desert. Even with all the wheat protein, this keeps my hair from frizzing, and it holds the curl. I can refresh this easily with water and a bit more gel.
It doesn't control the frizz at my crown area (my review is against a diffuser, not from going outside), which is why I purchased the product. And it gives me horrid crunchy curls. I did not use a lot, maybe a dime to a dime and a half on each section of hair. I applied the gel over conditioner, oil (sealant), and Ouidad's Hyrafusion creme and I still got the crunchies. This is not a product for me. I'm sad because I really wanted it to work.
This product did nothing for my hair, maybe because at the time I didn't know what I was doing. I orginally had 5 bottles of this product and I only have 1 left, not because I used the other 4 but because they all disappeared, seriously I have no idea what happened to them lol nor do I care. I bought this product about 1 1/2 years ago. The one bottle I have left I haven't touched, I'm thinking it would be beneficial to a wash and go. This product is obviously not for organic users (see ingredients). Oh! but I did use it when I use or blow dry my hair... left it kind of stiff....
This definitely works to protect your hair from humidity, but I can't seem to shake the overly-gelled/Jericurled look. It seems to break up my clumps into tiny, Silly String-like pieces and my hair looks dark and wet all day. I did have some luck in the past when I strictly controlled how much I put on (only a nickel size for half my head).
I have waveyish curls, and this made them kind of stiff and straightened them out a bit. Make sure not to put in too much or it'll feel gross. It did take away my frizz, but I don't like how my hair looked after using this.
I have fine fractal/kinky-coily/Type 4a hair. It's also low-ish porosity. First off I need to stay that I have purchased and returned this product on 2 separate occasions. That's how much of a learning curve I've had with it. But ultimately I did repurchase recently for the 3rd time and I don't plan on returning it this time. I finally figured out how to use it on my hair and now I really like it. For really dense/tight curls, you need to use a lot because it's a thinner gel. I also discovered that I needed my hair to be more on the damp side rather than really wet for best results b/c it's already pretty conditioning on its own. Once air-dried, there was some crunch/gel cast feeling but it scrunches out nicely with Oyin Sugar Berries, MOP shine, or any other pomade (haven't used the Ouidad one b/c of the price). It gives hold but not like the stiff kind. Also, I live in a very humid climate and my hair holds up nicely with this product in it, beyond the first day (at least 2 or 3). Despite the big learning curve in the beginning, I do see myself buying this again (though not in a liter size or anything b/c it's so expensive.)
I really wanted to like this gel but I just cant. Im not sure what the hype is because it does absolutely nothing for my hair. This is my 4th time using it and the frizz is outta control! I am mixed with black and white and my hair is a 3a and this stuff leaves my curls frizzer then ever! Less then 4 hours after a wash and I look like side show bob! I got the Ouidad cut about a month ago and my stylest used Tress Effects Gel and my hair looked AMAZING and the frizz was too a minimum, the only reason I didnt get it was because they were out. So idk why Climate Control doesnt work for me but I cant take it anymore I rather pay for another gel then to keep having bad hair days.
This product works wonders. If you are using the product correctly, your hair will look the best it ever has. Does your hair initially dry crunchy? Yes. But, I always pull my hair back in my hands like I'm making a ponytail and smooth my hair slightly to break up the crunchy curls. The crunch is gone and what's left is soft, manageable, beautifully held curls. It holds for days and you can easily wake up, refresh your curls, an get three good days out of one use. It is expensive, but if you're using it right, you should only have to use it twice a week instead of every day.
I have thick and abundant 3b curls and I don't think that the Ouidad line is really made for my type of hair :/ However! I do somewhat like this Climate Control Gel! :D I have a spray bottle I fill a little over 3/4 with icy cold water and then add a bit of the Climate Control, then spray it on and put my other products over it, I find that it helps tame the frizz a bit :D plus! it is expensive! so this also helps me ration it as well ^-^ it's the only way i'm willing to use it now, like I said too expensive, still not sure whether I'll purchase another bottle or not.
Surprisingly I like this stuff for my wash and go! I got it in a gift bag and ended up using it because I ran out of my normal product. I love it because it was so quick to use. It really cut down the time in smoothing because it's a liquid. My curls are well defined and looks great! I will buy this in the future.
I'm a big fan. It does straighten out my hair a bit as advertised but it holds the curl really well. If you are more concerned about having definition this product is for you. I use the Ouidad leave in conditioner then this gel. It's great for next day wear if you use the Ouidad spray to freshen it up. Make sure you don't use too much because your hair will get crunchy.
I like this product. it works pretty well for my wash n go styles. I have to refresh with a little water spritzer on humid days but overall, my hair doesn't feel crunchy or hard with this gel.
I love this stuff! Keeps my curls together and shaped without the frizz and crunchy-ness of other gels. I wish it didn't have silicone.
This was a really nice gel, I was worried that it would make my hair feel too crunchy, but it worked well, I tried it in North Carolina then in Florida (where it is always way too humid) it was the only anti frizz product I brought with me and it did not let me down.
This gel is great! I can scrunch it out easily, it doesn't take away from my hairs shine. Plus, no frizz. :)
Not for me. It did nothing for me. So disappointed. I had to drive to a store 30miles away and was pricey.,
I really wanted to like this product but alas it is not for wavy hair. The product does take away the frizz but in doing so it removes most of the waves. I think I would rather have the frizzy waves than no waves at all.
I absolutely love this gel! I use it daily. I cannot believe how it controls frizz and helps my curls stay soft. I will recommend it to all my curly friends!
Even though I don't use it as a frizz fighter (being a 4b naturalista), it's great for slick styles such as mohawks, hair bands, etc. I really like it. I hate that it's eighteen bucks though. Has great hold, creates waves, and it doesn't frizz even through sweat!
I love this gel. I usually use it by slathering on the Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In cream on wet hair first, and then using the gel to set the curl pattern while still damp. It doesn't make my hair stiff or crunchy like other gels. Very highly recommended!
Tried this as a sample because it is a bit expensive. Best styling product I have ever had. Worth the money. A little bit goes a long way. Smells great, and doesnt give me headache like most products do. The only thing I have to be careful with, is if I use too much it makes my hair crunchy.
I didn't like this at all. It dried out my hair which is 3A-3B. I ended up with major frizz and buildup. No more Ouidad for me.
Well after needing a quick fix I wanted something to help with the dryness and frizz I get often. I looked and saw this product, I went yesterday and bought the tiny zixe for 9 bucks!..OMG I will buy a new and larger size. It does work..I often get fustrated with my hair but I have come to realize that I do need to change my products in order to get the look I want!
I bought this product thinking it would give me frizz-free curls on humid days. Although did I get GREAT results using this product, it doesn't do much in humid weather, at least for my hair.
This gel left my hair soft and frizz-free. You don't need much to completely cover your hair. This is my second time using it over the span of 3 years, and each time has been successful. Look forward to purchasing another bottle.
My family bought me some Ouidad products for my birthday, and this was the first one that I used, and i LOVE it. If you follow the directions to a T and use the rake and shake method, your hair will look amazing. For the first time EVER, my hair lasted for a full day, from 10 in the morning to 11 at night; that has never happened to me before with my 3b curls. The only downside is that the curls tend to be crunchy, but i know from my salon experience that the pomade that Ouidad makes keeps the same hold but makes the hair soft. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I was very excited to try this free sample included in my last order, given the high ratings, but find that it only works *ok* on my fine 3A curls. Diffusing is a must, I would say, to avoid crunch. Even after diffusing, however, my hair still felt a little undefined and "frizzy". I think I will have to add a stronger curl-defining gel to get the ideal definition+humidity control.
I love this product. It works best with Ouidad Curl Quencher Moisturizing Gel. After trying curly girl for a year I was still a frizz ball. I spent tons of money on other products now sitting in my cabinet. I now use only Ouidad and my hair looks the best it every has in my life. This product is worth every penny. I just wish I had tried it sooner and saved a lot of money.
I purchased the Curl Quencher Shampoo and Conditioner as well as this gel from Sephora and it was a waste of money. I have 4a/4b curls and the gel did not define my curls at all. It probably works better for the 3's and 2's but not for my 4a/4b
I have 3b-c hair and this is the BEST styling product I have used. I have tried Deva's, CHS and the two other style aids from Ouidad, none of them come close to controlling frizz and holding my style with such finesse! Curls are defined, soft and have great movement!
This product was just alright for me. It weighed my hair down. I tried putting less product in it, but that didn't work. I found that if I use this product and then diffuse my hair comes out ok. I get the same results with my cheaper products.
This was used on my hair at the Ouidad salon and I like the smell and it's not heavy on the hair. It gives me defined curls.
This product works really well for me when I use it with an equal amount of Tress Effects gel. It holds my curls and keeps them looking great even in Mid-South humidity!
This is the product I use every time I wash. I love the consistency of it (a cross between a lotion and a gel) that spreads nicely through my very thick hair. It helps frizz and leaves a nice shine. I actually wish it would be a little MORE crunchy than it is for more definition (I couldn't possibly put more in than I am), so it's not that crunchy if you have super-thick hair. I do think it's pretty expensive, but another good thing is that it "rejuvinates" the next day by adding a little water, so you don't have to wash every day! (which saves on the product too.)
3a I really wanted this product to work, espcially after the Ouidad cut, but it leaves me with limp, loose curls, I think people with thicker hair would like it.
This really controls my frizz during the humid weather. It is kind of expensive but I don't mind. It is really hard to control my hair during the summer in Virginia. The only thing I am hesitant about using is the use of silicones but I will use it in the summer months.
The product is great. You don’t need a lot of it and very easy to apply. Leaves curls well defined, soft and shiny.
I got this as a free sample in the mail, which is good because I think I would have felt more unsatisfied if I paid $18 for it. I do love that its a gel that didn't leave my hair crunchy, and let it move naturally (like in the wind! I love that! That's something my DevaCurl Angell didn't do for me). It worked better as a curl definer than a defrizzer. It defrizzed my smoothest 3b/3c curls, but didnt do so well on my less tame, frizziest parts of my hair. Therefore, I won't purchase the regular size for $18...maybe I'm better off w/ leave-in conditioners?? However, I could see this probably working much better for curly girls with smoother hair. Not so much for 4a/4b curls
This is my HG. I love this stuff. Very defined curls. My hair is really shiny and doesn't feel like I have a lot of product in it. Wish it was less expensive.
I have been using CC for almost a year now and my hair still ends up frizzy by the end of the day sometimes earlier. I have tried to applied it in many different ways and quantities and still cannot get frizz free curls. The only positive is that it does not dry out my hair as quickly as regular gels do.
I just used some outta the sample bottle they just sent me and lemme tell you....I've NEVER seen my curls more defined!! They aren't frizzy, thay arent crunchy...I just love it!! Believe me...it's worth the money.
I agree with reviewers that this product gets rid of frizz. What it doesn't do is define curls--my hair took longer to dry with this product and my curls were kind of stringy and crunchy. I think this product works best in combination with a thicker gel, like Curl Interrupted, by Brocato.
I live in Virginia and I fight frizz and pouf most of the year. This styling product is the best I've ever found. I follow Ouidad's directions (and the rake and shake). I put a dab of Deep Conditioner in the first pass of CC, and then I mix a bit of styling creme (Hair Rules whipped cream) as I work my sections. My hair remains soft and the curls fall into place. Fast and nearly perfect every day.
This is one of the best gles/styling lotions I've used. Used it with curls cocnut sublime, then, mixed it with homemade jojoba jelly. Really good frizz control (FL heat and humidity proof!). Can almost get second day hair with this combo. Other than the price, almost a HG product.
TOO crunchy and I'm not a huge fan of the wet look. ALTHOUGH, this gel may be good for my hair on a steamy, hot New York day. I have to try it again in the summertime.
I started using this product a few years ago, and it is still one of my all time favorites. Great smell, good hold, very little crunch, very little frizz even in high humidity. I love the curl definition I get with the rake and shake method that Ouidad recommends. Expensive, but worth it.
UPDATE. I'm upping my previous rating to 4 curls because I've discovered a way to get better curl formation. The OUIDAD website details the "rake 'n shake" method - previously I was "raking" the gel through my hair, but not grasping the ends of my hair and lightly "shaking" it afterward to release my hair's natural curl pattern. When I do this, I get much better results. Also, CC works best if I combine it with the botanical boost leave-in, and apply both of them in the morning and let air-dry (rather than sleeping on it wet). Another pleasant surprise: less hair loss over time using Ouidad's BB and CC than with other product lines.
You know, this product just didn't do it for me. Climate control definitely did away with the frizz, but it left my hair feeling crunchy and looking "wet" all day...two things I'm NOT trying to achieve. Who knows, maybe I applied too much or didn't apply the product properly, either way I don't think climate control is for me.
I have 2B/3A hair, and this is my #2 favorite product. Used in conjunction with botanical boost, it gives me really well-defined waves, with no crunch, no flakiness, and very little frizziness. I'm looking forward to trying it in the summer. I get the best results when I air-dry overnight rather than using a diffuser. However, it doesn't give me curls--only waves--and the waves partially fall out the second day. So 3 stars, not 4. (My 4 star, #1 fave is Innersense Quiet Calm).
This is a great, lightweight gel. It's very liquidy and easy to distribute. I would say it dries moderately crunchy, but it's easy to scrunch out. It gives me good hold, shine, and frizz-control, and my hair has a lot of movement and looks natural. I didn't find it particularly curl-enhancing, but it didn't weigh down my fine curls either. The steep price tag will keep me from using it daily, but this is a definite repurchase.
This product did not enhance my curls. Would not recommend on black asian hair; makes my curls look oily and limp. It seems to work really well for my coworker who has 3B hair.
I absolutly love this gel. It does leave your hair crunchy, but if you apply the pomade afterwards, it breaks up the crunch. It has great hold but allows the hair to bounce. It is just alittle pricy!
Like using nothing! No curl formation, stringy and way too expensive for not being any good.
I've been using this on my thick, frizzy 3b hair for about 2 years now, and so far it's the best thing that I've found. It gets rid of a lot of frizz (if you use a lot) without making hair greasy or crunchy. But it's not "perfect"- I have to layer it with other products if I want to wear my hair down. Also, it seemed to work better when I first started using it- as time went on, it got less and less effective. Even so, it's the best frizz control product I've found so far, and the price is decent.
gave great curl formation to my waves, made my hair soft as it's ever been in my whole life & helped a great deal with frizz. oh yea, and it's pouring outside right now!! i used this as step 3 after the ouidad deep treatment & botanical boost leave in conditioner. it doesnt feel gel like, more like a glaze or serum which is good since i dont usually like gel
I LOVE this product. I moved from no humidity to all humidity in the Pacifica Northwest and I have no friz...:)
Without a doubt, this product is the BEST on a hot and humid day. Trust me I know, living on the east coast where humidity is our specialty every summer. As with all Ouidad products, you'll get the most from "Climate Control" by following a regime of bi-weekly Deep Treatments and maintaining your tresses w/the "slice & carve" Ouidad cut. Some of you mention the "crunchies" here's a tip, use just a dab of "Clear Control" pomade over your dried hair. Curls will instantly soften and shine will radiate from your locks. Buy Ouidad's book -- it tells you everything you need to know about crazy curls.
This was one of the first curly hair products I tried, and it was in the summer. It definitely controls humidity, but there is some crunch to it and if too much is used, it weighs my hair down. I've started to mix with Tress FX which provides a good balance.
Pretty satisfied. I have SUPER thick hair and I find that the whole ouidad system really works to make it fall nicer, but its just too time consuming!! A bit greasy looking, but I am still looking for a product that gives shine without looking "wet"
This is one of my HG products( for summer). I get consistently good hair, no frizz and great Curlformation and hold. I use it over a leave in and need no additional products.
Out of all the Ouidad prodcuts I tried in the starter kit, this one was the best. It is a clear thin gel, very easy to apply, and a little goes a long way. Holds up well in the humid weather, but can flake if you don't distribute evenly. Seems to work best when used with the Botanical Boost, but it is still a great product on its own. Overall its wonderful stuff for curly hair, but pretty expensive!!!
I've been using this product since its inception years ago... and it is the only styler out there that I can truly call my HG! It leaves my hair frizz-free, soft, and conditioned. If I need some extra hold, I blast it with a few spritzes of hairspray and voila! This doesn't do anything for "accentuating" curls, but it's one of the best frizz-busting/smoothing gels around. Absolutely a MUST for humid areas.
I think the 2 curl rating from the Naturallycurly crew is misleading, especially based on what they had to say. This is one of the best products I have ever used. It controls frizz in my highly humid hometown of Savannah, and gives my curls a controlled, shiny, polished look. As long as I don't use too much, there's no crunch. I can't imagine living without this stuff! Give it a try!
I had phenomenal results with climate control. Soft, controlled, wavy curls. Tiny halo of frizz. Key word here is 'controlled'. My curls fell down and relaxed slightly rather than being tight. More 'vertical' than 'horizontal' hair. I can't stop touching my hair! For best results I deep conditioned with Pantene 'Frizz down' leaving a bit in, towel dried my hair without rubbing, sprayed in Quidad's 'botanical boost' and 5 minutes later put in the climate control. I didn't have to use a lot which is great because it is expensive. Not everyday comes out outstanding, but I have had more great hair days with this than anything else.
this gel works great on my waist length 3b curly hair. It can get crunchy but I either diffuse it or 2 hours after air dry it looks great. great next day hair! the price is kind of high but it is worth it.
Probably the best product I have found for combating frizz in humidity. Leaves hair a little bit crunchy if you use too much, but you can avoid crunch by altering the amount you use. My only complaint would be that it is a bit pricey.
I love this gel. It's got perfect consistency, and is moiturizing too. I don't need a ton of hold, so this is perfect for me. This has been a staple of mine for 2 years now.
I have wavy 2b/3a hair. This is my "holy grail" product, and I've used up many of the giant sized bottles. This is the only product that consistently gives me defined shiny waves. It seems pricey, but one giant bottle lasts me for 5-6 months.
I've tried everything to keep my hair from expanding and frizzing in the Florida humidity. This is the only product I use in my hair and I've used if for over a year. I absolutely love it!!!
love love love this stuff. i can't go without it in the summer. doesn't drag the waves in my hair down. expensive product but worth every cent!
It was ok. Nothing great. These products are too pricey for what you get. You can get better products at the drugstore or at Sally's.
This does nothing for my hair. I get no curl formation, just as much frizz as I would without products and it leaves my hair feeling dry to boot. Expensive and worthless.
Ouidad products and cut have been great for my hair type -- 3c/4A very thick. My Ouidad cut and light relaxing the curl to a 3C . Hair is very responsive to weather. I use this after washing and conditioning & air dry. It dries crunchy so I uncrunch and open up the curl with a bit of Clear Control pomade or Paul Mitchell Slickworks. You can mix this with Tres F/X if it's too high-test alone.
Love, love, LOVE this! I've started wearing my hair curly again as a result of this product. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so I am forever battling frizz from rain and humidity. This product changed all that. My curls stay smooth and separated all day and are still soft and touchable. I'll be using this for as long as I wear my hair curly!!!
A great gel, but honestly I like the Tress F/X better. The climate control does not leave my curls as soft and I dont have as good clumping of my curls. Great for a wedding in the rain, though!
Gretchen and I fought over this product and it never made it out of her closet. That's the sign of a great product. Great curl formation, little crunch and good humidity protection.
My favorite of the moment. One of only a couple products I took with me on a recent rip. Good curl formation, good humidity resistance. No crunch. Hair is very soft.
