I have 3c/4a hair and this is a HG for me. I use this as a cream because this is NOT a gel in my opinion, its definitely a cream. However, I LOVE it and use it as a styler for twist outs and braid outs. Leaves my hair sealed and moisturized for days! The best cream out there in my opinion! The smell is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE sweet cake batter smells, it makes you want to eat it but the smell doesn't linger in your hair. I gave this a four instead of a five simply because they call it a gel and its not.
My hair was dry, dry, and more dry. I even got spilt ends (which has never happened). This is by far the worse product that I have ever tried and I have tried alot of products. I wanted to try it so bad because of all the raves but I feel like I totally wasted my money. I could have used nothing and gotten better results. It is more like a cottage cheese type lumpy cream than a butter or gel. Not impressed at all. A DEFINITE NO REBUY. I would not recommend this product at all. If I could give it negative stars it would be a -10, maybe -infinity times infinity. I am so annoyed over wasting my money. Usually I at least use unwanted products as a prepoo but this did not even work like that. I had to throw away. And this is the first product I have ever thrown away. I wish I could get my money back at least :(
I use this as a moisturizer and styler in one, this product in combined with the curl maker work wonderful together. I have found another staple product for my regimen. Anyways alone this product does not provide hold, I don't know why it's called a gel, it's more of a cream, than a butter, but regardless its a must try product. Now if you are looking for a gel, give the curl maker a try its my staple gel/jelly.
First, this isn't much of a gel. More like a lightweight, whipped pudding/cream. It has the scent of a vanilla dessert or butter cream frosting...something sweet like that. I've tried it as a styler and as a refresher/moisturizer for my wash & go. As a styler, contrary to the description, it does not provide any hold whatsoever...minus one star. As a refresher, it does not moisturize my hair, but it doesn't say it will. This product does not make my hair shiny in any way I've used it...minus another star. As a refresher, it actually removes my natural definition and the shine my previous product may have created. However, as the description states, this gel leaves my hair very soft both ways I've used it. I really like it for the softness and when I want to wear my hair more shrunken and afro-y.
This stuff is excellent!!! I applied a leave in then the aloe whipped butter gel for my wash n go and this product is amazing. It went on really smooth and had great slip. The hold is good also and my curls loves this. My curl definition was beautiful with little to no frizz with great shine and is very very moisturized.
This stuff right here! If you are having any doubts about purchasing this, don't. It is everything that a hair butter, cream, styler should be rolled into one and I can see it working for a variety of textures. Details: The consistency is whipped frosting unlike gel, it smells like vanilla cake, but does not linger in the hair, a little goes a VERY long way, it smoothes and detangles hair upon contact, provides definition, but little hold, provides sheen/shine if you allow it to sink in, moisture lasts for at least two-three days, reactivates easily with water and no coated feeling. Why this is unlike other products on the market: My hair does not do well with the typical "leave-in" conditioners that have cationic surfactants like BTMS (Behentrimonium Methosulfate) and fatty alcohols like Cetearyl Alcohol high up in the ingredient list. I am not a chemist, but those ingredients while excellent for conditioning and detangling, provide no moisture to curly and kinky hair. Moisture= oil + water, plain and simple. The Aloe Whipped Butter Gel is an immersion of oil in water within the first FIVE ingredients. BTSM and Fatty alcohols are included, but they are not the anchor ingredients. It also has aloe vera gel, which unlike aloe vera leaf juice, is very hydrating for the hair next to water. I use this alone since I have low porosity hair that dislikes layers of product/oil and I let it sink it for at least 10 minutes before styling or adding gels. I have used this in the winter, spring and summer with the same level of moisture retained. I could see this being used for an LOC or LCO regimen and sealed with a light oil, hair grease or styler. Camille Rose's line is the most nourishing I have found and the owner gets what moisture is and is not. I personally am not a fan of all of her products (i.e. reformulated Moisture Milk) and I certainly have regular conditioners and stylers from other lines, but everyone needs a staple moisturizer and few lines are able to get it right. She got this one right and I love it! Comparison: I have shoulder length low porosity 4a hair that is fine, protein sensitive and does not like heavy oils or butters. If your hair is similar, you may love this too.
This product worked well on my hair. There wasn't any flaking or weird residue. The product wasn't heavily scented and the hold was pretty good. I would buy again.
When i opened the jar, the first thing i noticed was how full it was. Seriously, it was almost spilling over, they certainly give you your moneys worth. The smell was vanilla like, but very light, not overpowering. I used on wet hair to do a wash and go. A little goes a long way, and it provided tons of moisture, but the hold was too light for my 3c/4a hair. I love this product and will continue to purchase, but I will use it underneath a gel.
I absolutely love this. Combined with the Algae Deep Conditioner.. I have found my first staples. This is extremely moisturizing and can pretty much be used however. I use it for twist outs and just for general moisture. It doesn't really have much of a hold, but that's not what I use it for. I agree with the other reviewer who said this is great for the LOC method. I wouldn't use oil after or before this because my hair would be extremely oily. CRO is on to something.. I'll be trying more products!
My hair type is 3c/4a and I highly recommend Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel. It is two products in one an amazing moisturizer and protein free gel. It provides slip, moisture, and hold without the crunch my style will last for a week or more with minimal nightly maintenance. You can control the amount of hold provided by the amount of product you use, more product more hold, less product less hold. Its one of the few natural products my hair responds too. Plus an added bonus if use LOC OR LCO method use this product it takes care of two out of three- Cream and Oil to layer for maximum moisture retention. Bravo, Camille Rose.
HG Alert! This is the best product that I've used on my (very low porosity 4a) hair since going natural. I was recently thinking that there had to be something out there that would moisturize and give me definition and not require me to wash my hair every day or every other day. Ding, ding, ding! I'm on Day 5 of a wash and go! I haven't gone more than two days without having to wash my hair since I big chopped in December. Nothing lasted...until now. This creamy gel gives me crazy coily definition, even on the right side of my head, which is usually very frizzy no matter what I use. It keeps my hair moisturized and soft. My only complaint would be that it takes a little while for the white-hair look to disappear, but that's more of a problem with me having low porosity hair that doesn't absorb well. Definitely not he gel's fault. I saw some reviews that said users weren't getting shine with this product. I get great shine from it, and lack of shine is something that has caused me to drop some other products that fulfilled the moisture and definition requirements but left my hair dull. Honestly, I'm ready to buy truckloads of this stuff. For me, it's perfect.
Great for twist outs and braid outs. Wonderful moisture for days and I love the light buttercream scent. It wasn't enough hold for me to use alone as a wash-and-go but I layered a gel on top and had great moisture and definition. Gotta love CRN!
FANTASTIC product. I absolutely love it. I use it for twist outs for myself (3c) and twist outs and cornrows for my daughter (about a 4b) and we BOTH have wonderful definition and shine. The smell is divine! We also use it to seal in moisture using the L.O.C. method, usually water or a leave in, organic coconut oil then the Aloe Whipped. It's absolutely perfect and a little goes a long way. One jar covered us for almost three full months (this is weekly twist outs on below shoulder length hair and bi-weekly twists or cornrows on mid-back length THICK hair).
Well...Well...Well... I'm going to be honest. This product from Camille Rose wasn't even on my radar. I saw a review on YouTube from one of my favorite vloggers (Mz. Naturalife) and decided to give it a try. When I say amazing! This Aloe Whipped Butter Gel is AMAZING! It moisturized my hair with phenomenal definition. My hair is not thick so I don't like heavy products. This product is light with a amazing scent with oils. I love it....Her Almond Jai Twisting Butter is next :-)
I first tried this product in the summer and hatred it however I live in Canada in -20 weather and this has been a life saver for my hair. for me it was too light for a gel for a wash and go but works great on twists
I really like this product but BEWARE: NOT A GEL OR BUTTER. It has more of a creamy consistency and since the second ingredient is water, i use it as a moisturizer. Works great! Softens and moisturizes. And she gives you your money's worth. Was filled to the brim!
To be honest, I've only used the product once because I wear my hair in twists and I only wash my hair once every other week. But, let's start from the beginning. And, I can't give it 5 stars ONLY because I haven't used it enough to know if the results are consistent. I'll tell you how I used the product so that the review can be put into perspective. I washed my hair, detangled with conditioner, rinsed and applied the following: leave-in conditioner, a mixture of shea butter and olive oil, and lastly the Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel. In that order. I applied it by holding my head to the side, rubbing some of the product between the palms of my hand, and smoothing it down the hair shaft between my palms from root to tip. To start with, I LOVED the smell. And, the product was filled all the way to the top, like ALL the way, so it was a good value for me. As soon as I went to smooth it on, I noticed how it glided onto the hair, even though it was wet. I usually make a few "passes" over the hair to ensure proper distribution, and I could tell IMMEDIATELY that my hair was feeling softer and softer. Whatever was coating my hair, gave my hair a silky feeling. I couldn't tell if that was good or bad because I can get the same feeling from a product that coats my hair in silicons as well. But, after applying it to my whole head, I immediately noticed that it really was softer all over. Smooth (not straight) and soft, so we'll call it a benefit and not a detriment. I then bantu knotted my hair while it air-dried before twisting it, and I also immediately noticed that all of the little fly-aways that I get at my root (broken off hairs that are growing back after from months of over manipulation) were for the most part laying down smooth. This might be the gel effect. After my hair was dried and I went to twist it, it didn't feel crunchy. I only had to apply a light mist of water to the ends to get my hair to coil and lock preventing the twist from unraveling. It's been a week, and the amount of frizz that my twist usually get has been cut in half. Literally. I'm not exaggerating. This might just allow my twists to last the entire 2 weeks instead of 1 solid week and one where I want to cover them with a scarf. The twists also look shinier than with previous products, although I can't say the FEEL more moisturized. They appear to be, so I'll leave it at that. I won't know about the moisture until I take the twists down and feel my hair. But, I will definitely be using this product again...and then again to see if the results are consistent.
All I have is one word LOVE!! My hair love Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel, a little goes a long way this will be my staple for the winter I have fell in love
I like this butter gel. Smells fabulous! It has moisture and gel. Not a firm hold, but works well. I have issues with humidity and frizzy, so it was not enough to deal with the mid south frizz factor! I will keep it on hand and use it when the dew points are a little less intense. Overall I like all the Camille Rose products to date. (3A-3B)
Love ,Love !!!! I am currently transitioning 9 months and counting .. This product gave me a soft hold for my briadout and amazing frizz control .. It is super moisturizing .. I am not completely sure what my hair type is at this time but I believe I am a mix of 3b , 3c and 4A if that's possible.. This works best on wet or damp hair.. highly recommend this product I am loving the Camille Rose line..
I am really type 3A but this stuff has an amazing fragrance--it's like aromatherapy. I have only used it to smooth out frizzies on 3/4 day hair and it works well--especially on roots, hair line and ends. I just love the smell and will try it later as a styling product. Great ingredients.
Hair stats: transitioning, MBL, 4Aish, low porosity, protein and AVJ sensitive My hair doesn't like large amounts of AVJ but it doesn't mind AVG. I was previously using the Bee Mine Curly Butter for my twist outs but decided to try this and BOY am I glad I did. This product is one of the BEST twist crèmes I have ever used and I have tried a million of them. Amazing softness, hold, definition and shine all in ONE product. I use a bit of this on each twist and airdry. Once I take the twists down, my hair is SO soft and shiny. I cannot explain how much I love this product. Just give it a try!
I have 4a, kinky-curly hair and as much as I want to like this product, I just don't. Let me explain. I love the way it goes on the hair, so nice and smooth. The application is phenomenal! It feels like you are applying a conditioner to your hair. Even when the product dries, it is soft to the touch but (and here's the catch) I got very little hold and zero shine. I can give up the hold, but the lack of shine was just too much. I have tried applying more product - that made it worse. When applying less - well, there goes the hold factor and still I look very dusty about the head! Today I combined it with a super shiny gel that I use as a stand alone product but still no shine so I will not repurchase but will use the rest of the jar on hand on those days when I pull my hair back in a head band... The softness is awesome!
This product is amazing! I'm hesitant to use anything with the term "gel" in it, so I had this in my stash for a while before some fellow curly girls encouraged me to use it through their rave reviews. Let me tell you, I was so disappointed in myself for waiting so long! From the creamy. light whipped texture (nothing like any gel I've ever encountered), the light, delightful scent, to the fact that not only did it give me great definition and frizz control for my WnG-it managed to give me perfect second day hair despite the high humidity and rain it endured! And it did all of this without weighing down my curls and with minimal shrinkage! This is definitely a winner and a product I will continue to use!
I wanted it for a long time and finally i purchased it on sageneuratricial.com for a decent shipment price to Switzerland, at first i tried to put a little bit but it turned always dry&heavier for my 3C-4a curls. Recently i decided to try it again as i'm currently using gel in my routine (Aveda flaxseedgel or Giovanni L.A styling gel which i mix with a tiny of argan, almond, monoi or avocado oil), and i start by spraying my hair with a mixture of distilled water + aloe vera gel then i dilute a small doze of LUSH Coolaulin, seal with some almond, argan, monoi or avocado oil, then aloe vera Lily of the Desert and finaly i put the Camille rose aloe whipped butter gel. I noticed much more moisture retention by using Lush conditioner as a leave-in or sometimes Honeysuckle rose A.O and my hair is much more soft and less frizzy with the Camille rose, also doing weekly greek yogurt and olive oil treatment has help me tremendously with moisture, growth & less knots
This is HG for me! This is the only product that allows me to finger detangle without pulling out my hair. Amazing slip. I'm able to use it as an all in one product for my twist outs and wash and gos. It works as my detangler, leave in, moisturizer and gel all in one. It leaves a soft hold but not crunchy and my hair is fluffy defined and moisturized. With this product my style will last for at least 5 days. A little goes a long way so this jar will last a while. Please never change this formula!!
very moisturizing without being greasy. i love the fact that it is whipped and light and airy so it spreads very easily onto the hair and has amazing slip. I used this over CJ smoothing lotion as my moisturizer/ styler and it gave me good hold and moisture. I also used it on third day hair to remoisturize and style my hair and again it gave good hold and moisture without greasiness or a film.
This is my HG product for real!! I freaking love this stuff! It holds my twist & twist outs for a week, it leaves my hair soft shiny & moisturized! I can't say enough about this product it's the bomb.com!
This is my HG! Its defines my curls and waves, while keeping my hair moisturized, and keeps away the frizzes! OH and my hair doesn't tangle so easily. The Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter Gel is definitely a keeper for me.
not really sure about this product. I used it for a wash n go. It really doesnt define at all. My 3c area looked good as usual but teh 4a areas were a bit crunchy and all over had a gluey feel to it. There was no shine like it said. My hair was pretty matte all over. I dont know what I did wrong. My hair didnt feel moisturized at all. I gave it 3 stars because I want to give it another chance but so far I was really excited for nothing. I bought this with the almond jai and the curl love milk. None of them seem to do much for me.
This is a really nice gel. It's a bit heavy for my hair, but it kept my hair frizz-free on a day with 95% humidity. I love the smell so much--it's a sweet vanilla scent that lingers on your hair. It's a bit pricey for the amount of gel you get, however.
I love the light vanilla smell! I used this to braid my hair up for a braid out. I liked my overall results but if your hair is subjected to becoming dry like mine (especially during the dry winter months), you will need to add an oil to seal the hair. But my hair was soft and defined.
This is the best stuff ever!!! I use it with Curl Love Moisture Milk leave in. I also mix it with a little aloe vera juice and jojoba oil and this gives awesome definition. I believe that it would work well in conjunction with a gel like eco styler or Kinky Curl Custard for wash and gos. Can't wait to use it for that also.
Similar to the almond jai....has a very light hold and can be used alone without a leave in as a moisturizer, sealer, and leave in. Very moisturizing and would repurchase>>>great for twist outs!
Love, love, love this whipped butter gel...It made my twist out look n feel fabulous. It is a must have in my weekly hair regimen.
The Bomb.com! This stuff is the truth! I love the way it makes my hair shine and it gave me my best braid out results. Paired it w/ the Almond Jai Twisting butter and I couldn't ask for better results
Love! Used this for a twist out and my hair is extremely soft and defined. I will definitely be adding this to my hair regimen.
My new favorite product. This is a creamy gel that never flakes!!! Can use it for twist outs, to smooth down and set hair. Doesn't get crunchy b/c its a "butter gel" therefore I use this product by itself. Great concept! My hair is in the 4's somewhere.
I did not know what a staple product was until I used this. I love the softness!!! OMG!! It's my go to styler for my wash n go as well as my twist/twist outs. I use her hair milk as leave in and oyin juice to refresh. I wore twist under a scarf for about 5 days before wearing my hair out and I swear, I never knew what soft has was until I bought this. I will never use a regular gel again....I don't want to, I don't need to. (Except for my baby hairs.) I just bought her twisting cream and cannot wait to compare. ;) Def. try this!!!
I have 4b hair and this did not define my curls for a wash n go. Now I do not know if my hair needs to be soak n wet but it did nothing; however it gave me a bomb twist out and now I use this with her curlada moisterizer and one satisfied customer!!!
Ok, now I purcahsed this and I love the light smell. I do not know if I did it correctly but this product did not define my curls. I have 4b hair and maybe I should try it on dry hair, but it did not work. I did work for my twist out.
I love this product. It is the perfect blend of cream and gel. It gives my hair a nice soft hold. I use after washing my hair to do a 2 strand twist. I can do my hair around 9:00 PM and by 6:00 AM, it is dry. This has not been the case with other creams I have used to twist my hair. After I untwist, I rub oil between my hands and lightly rub over my hair before removing the twists. A light pick out and spritz with water and I am good to go.
This product help to set my curls. It held my curls in place without making them feel hard. I used it with a little of the Curl Love Moisture Milk. Great ingredients and smell. It's a MUST have.
