not really a fan of ecostyler gel at all. I tried the krystal , the olive oil and the argan oil. maybe my hair doesn't need maximum hold as I thought. However the gel is GREAT for laying down my tapered sides and edges.
BOY IS THIS GREAT! BEEN WANTING TO TRY IT & I CAME ACROSS A JAR SO IT WAS TIME (FOR A BUCK 50 I"D STOOPID NOT TO BUY)...WELL, IT'S THE BEST SMELLING GEL I'VE EVER SMELLED & I LIKE THE WAY IT WORKS EVEN, HOW 'BOUT THAT?!?! MY HAIR'S BEEN PRETTY DRY LATELY FROM BLEACH & DYE SO I HAD AN OLAPLEX TREATMENT (WONDERFUL) SO THAT KINDA KICK STARTED MY CURLS TO KINDA BE SORTA GOOD SO I DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO TRY A GEL, WHICH I HAVEN'T USED IN 3 YRS...THIS ISN'T UR TYPICAL GEL CUZ IT'S NOT STICKY, IT SMELLS GOOD, IT LEFT MY HAIR SOFT W/NO CRUNCH, I CAN USE IT ON WET OR DRY HAIR & NO ALCOHOL OR SILICONES, I'VE NEVER USED A GEL W/ANY OF THESE FEATURES SINCE I FIRST QUIT USING GEL/MOUSSE IN THE 80'S, NO I'M NOT OLD! BACK THEN MY HAIR WAS A THICK 2A-B & THESE DAYS IT'S MORE OF A MULTIPLE PERSONALITY, A LITTLE THINNER 2C-3A-ISH WHICH I'M GETTING TO KNOW ALL OVER AGAIN, THIS IS ONE OF THE PRODUCTS THAT WILL MAKE IT A LITTLE EASIER, YAY!
I recently bought this product and I love it. I like it because it doesn't dry out my hair like the Olive Oil Eco Styler does. My hair is very moist, bouncy, defined, and has natural shine with my wash n go. Also, it is in my price range as a college student only spending a few bucks is always good.
(3c) I started using it recently and I am not that happy with the result. It doesn't define the curls that much and it makes my hair dry. Might work with different hair type.
I love this Gel, but I mix it with another product. Both together define my 3c curls. The only product that I found that works well with the Eco Style Argan Oil is S Curl Gel Activator (blue). No flakes or little white balls. Here are my steps: Cowash with Eden Bodyworks Cocunut Shea Cleansing CoWash Apply Avacodo Oil all over my hair (amount depends on length of hair) I take equal amount of Eco Style Gel & S curl Activator Gel & mix them together before applying to my hair from root to ends. Be careful in applying too much S Curl Activator (can get a little greasy). Sometimes I will let it air dry or dry it with a diffuser. You will have to experiment a few times in order to get the right consistency. When I notice my hair getting a little dry I just add a touch of S curl gel activator. Good Luck, hope it works for you as it does for me.
I like this gel alot but the only thing that bother s is that it has whey protein.Protein can make your hair strong but using it too much can make your hair stiff and hard causing it to fall out. We have to find a balance, dont over use products.
This gel doesn't really do much for my hair as it doesn't work well with any of my products. It leaves little white balls in my hair no matter which product I use with the exception of my leave in. If I add ANY moisturizer, the little white balls appear and I am NOT heavy handed with my products. It does nothing for hold in the summer time. A couple of hours in the humid weather and I had very little definition from my bantu knot out left.
Maybe I am still using it wrong, but of all the eco´s I have tried, my hair could not handle this argan oil very good. TO scrunch out the crunch was very hard and did not leave my curly very shiny. Maybe I have a wrong routine for this. Or maybe it is my low porosity hair, I am not sure.
I just started using this after applying my Giovanni direct leave in. This is the best combination for my hair so far with the finger coiling method. I never thought I could have such bouncy ringlets. I got tired of using mixed chicks with 3 other products and it dried out my curls. This gel makes my 3B curls pop. It has UV protection as well. I love it!
Perfect gel for laying down my edges! I can have puffy roots, slap some of this on and BAM! My hair is laid down! I've used it a couple times for twist outs and wash n gos bu I wasn't really paying attention if my hair got any "white balls". If I did though my mom would've said something. Already repurchased another jar and plan on getting the 5 lb next time!
I love this gel so much it's a must have. I love how the smell isn't that overpowering and it doesn't dry my hair out. I use this gel for my braid outs and my curls become so defined I'm in love! :)
The best gel I have ever used! I was using the typical brown gel & it kept my hair sticky... tried this & OMG I'm in love! On occasion I blow dry my hair & wear it in a bun. I used this gel to lay my hair down & it made it flawless! I will never use another gel! I'm already a fan of Moroccan Argail Oil by it's self and this just completes my obsession! I haven't tried it on my hair wet yet (to wear it curly) but IM MORE THAN POSITIVE its going to be perfection!
Ahhhh I love this gel!! I have 3c/3b curls and it defined EVERY SINGLE ONE! It made my hair feel smooth and did not dry my hair out completely. In my experience it did not get rid of my fly aways and awful frizzy hairs, but it's not an anti frizz it's a gel. It did make my hair hard if I put too much in but I have no problem with that as long as the curls are defined and it doesn't make me look like a greasy drowned rat :). It smells quite nice too and a little goes a LONG way. I love this gel because it also allowed hair to get BIGGER! I love my hair BIIIIIG and it didn't weigh down my hair at all or sting the scalp or cause breakage. I would totally recommend it!
Your hair will be crunchy. I've tried experimenting with amounts to see what works best, and after I add that amount, my hair gets that crunchy feeling. It does do it's job with hold. I will say that, but if you don't like the crunch, this isn't for you.
I don't really like this stuff. I'm going through another one of those "I need to change some things up in my routine" phases and this stuff is not helping! It doesn't really define my curls as well as the Olive Oil one and it leaves residue on my hair! When it's wet, it's those tacky little while balls and when it's dry, it's flakes. My hair also feels a little stringy with this product. I also noticed that when I'm detangling my hair that I hear a lot more snapping since using this...I like the Olive Oil one a lot better and will return to that or the Krystal Clear one when this is finished.
I really do love this gel. Only one I have used since my natural journey. The only thing I suggest is not try it with every curling product for twist outs cause I didn't always get the same results every time I used a different product. But other than that I have no complaint about it. It's great for defining your curls and. Braid outs. Love it !
I really enjoy this gel. It makes my hair shinier than usual (which I like) and my curls are always their softest after I use this. The smells is nice. Nice amount of gel for a cheap price. When I put it onto my wet and conditioned hair, I can feel it getting a little hard right away but I like that because it lets me know how evenly I have distributed the product and even afterwards, I hardly have any crunch to scrunch out. Minimal frizz. My curls hold together well. Would definitely repurchase but I may try a different type of Ecostyler next time just to compare. :)
This is my go to gel. I have been using eco gel olive oil for 2years now.. just purchased the argan oil..
One of the best gels out there, cheap, smells clean, does the job, doesn't flake, doesn't feel crispy and makes my curls very defined. If it doesn't work for you your either protein sensitive, or just ain't doing something right. I had heard about these gels quite a bit and didn't really bother to get any for the longest time.I picked this gel up on a total fluke and got it on sale at Sally's for three bucks. This was my first every Ecostyler gel and I love it. The key here is how it is used. I use this gel on dripping wet hair. Its best to use it over a leave in/really moisturized hair for best results, I flip my head upside down and I use about a half dollar sized amount on my entire head. Spread it on your hands and rub until its well distributed and scrunch. Then once its dry scunch out the crunch if you have any ( I usually do if I use a bit much). I plopped for five minutes and diffused cause I was in a rush and boy did I get compliments on my hair that day. It washes out easily and it is also UV blocking and cruelty free- even better. This would be a staple but I'm a product junkie, so this will last me FOREVER.
Love all of them! I love the fact that I can get a big tub without breaking my pockets; have olive oil or argan oil. And keeps my coily hair defined, non flaky, and none of those harsh ingredients! Will forever use this for gel!
I love this brand... I normally use the Olive oil kind however... Never used the Argan Oil kind... But didn't see the Olive oil... Very good... Gives u the curls... Without the hardness from the gel :) leaves hair shiny && very soft!!
Who doesn't use Ecostyler gel! It is the go to gel to define your coils/curls! Has not disappointed me yet!
Love it. It's one of my staple products. At first, I was hesitant to buy it because, like other gels, I was afraid it would make my hair really hard and leave residue, but, surprisingly, it didn't. The "maximum hold" it claims to have isn't really that maximum at all and it's actually just the perfect amount of hold to slick down my edges. It leaves my hair soft and quite manageable.
I like the gel because it has a really light hold .. here is my review! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8hT3vkDc6I&feature=plcp
Love this gel. Gives shine and works well over top of my curl enhancing smoothie. Elongates my curls without too much crunch.
Best thing ever... Defined curls and dry shiny. I used it with a leave in and oil. It will dry hard if used alone. Try not to used a lot.
The only good think was the smell, and its ability to slick my edges down. I live in an extremely humid area (Souther Louisiana), and the hold was not too good for my braidouts. My hair would revert/poof out as soon as I walked outside for a bit. Not too crazy about it either when it comes to wash n goes, due to making my hair too hard even if I use conditioner or moisturizer under it. I think that I'm going to try the Eco-Styler Pink next, when it comes to wash n goes..which has a lesser hold.
Loathe this stuff, I think I might be the only person on the planet that cannot stand these gels! I have extremely thick hair, but even for me this felt far too thick when I applied it to my hair. No matter what moisturising leave in I put in underneath, my hair would feel look dull and frizzy and incredibly dry. I tried mixing it with the curl enhancing smoothie by Shea moisture, as well as using that combo on top of my staple leave in. What started off looking more moisturised just ended up with the same results. One plus is it is extremely good value for money, however by me having to use more leave in and mix it with other products just to try and obtain hair that doesnt feel like straw, I end up either spending more money, or spending a lot more time on my wash and go's only to get unattractive results. Gimme KCCC any day.
My fav for smoothing my edges!! Never hard or flaky. Used all over when I BC'd, & loved it. Now, only on my edges. Another staple product!
Great gel that I can consistently get 2nd day hair from. The downside to this gel is that it is hard to distribute. This can be worked around by using a little water or super soaking. This is a gel that I would def. recommend
Big fan! I love this gel, it smells like apples to me. It doesn't dry my hair out and its wonderful for providing hold for my edges (that is, if I use a scarf to tie it down after application). I have used it 3 or 4 times when shingling and it was pretty awesome! I had to experiment to get the right product combination to get definition and hold but its great. Some advice I would offer to those wanting to mix this with something else (as I have stated on another hair forum) before putting this in your hair with another product, mix it with that product on the back of your hand. If it clumps and forms cottage cheese-like residue then that is what will end up in your hair. If it smooths out, then it should play nice in your hair, too!
I use this after i deep condition and it defines my curls great and conditions my hair without flaking. Also good hold for day to day use, a little of this goes a long way.
When I did my BC this was the highly talked about gel to turn to for all my styling needs and when I saw the under $5 price I was sold. But once I used the product I kept getting FLAKES, FLAKES, FLAKES...for hold its great on my hair (but flakes by the next day or two), for wash and go's my hair HATES IT (my hair dries with white flakes everywhere, I tried it with multiple leave-in products and by its-self and still get the same result flakes). Not to mention the fact it DRIES my hair out without fail. I would not dare knock anyone using the product BUT as for ME and MY hair its a NO NO.
I love this. You can buy it in huge tubs from Sally's and it's 3 to 4 bucks. I use this for wash and go, natural ponies and to lay down edges. It may get crunchy when it dries just scrunch it in your hands and wallah, problem solved. Best stuff ever!!!
Fantastic for twists-outs. Be sure to use a barrier between your hair and the gel first. If not, it may dry to stiff.
