I love this product. Well, I loved it more when it was in salons, which is why I gave it a 3 and not a 4. This product is more like a lotion, which is easy to distribute in my VERY thick 3c hair. Admittedly, I do use a lot of it, but because it reactivates, I only have to scrunch with wet hands the second day and it is like new. I think they MAY have changed the formula a bit when it went "over the counter" because I'm not AS happy as I was before with the product, and they increased the price by a few dollars (which doesn't make sense.) But I've been looking for an alternative and still can't find a product that defines my curls as much without making them poofy. It DOES dry a little crunchy (which I actually like), but if you just run your hands over your hair, it softens up without getting big. Still a favorite. :)

I tried this product because it was marketed to encourage the natural curl/wave pattern. Instead of my normally thick chunky curls, I had thin, stringy stiff pieces. I did like that I could "reactivate" the product with a little water, but the hold wasn't lasting. So once my stringy curls started wilting, reactivating the hold just held what I didn't want: a messy mass of directionless hair with a few stringy curls remaining on top.

This is my holy grail. It works best for helping my waves become curls. It has little hold, so it needs to be applied with a gel for maximum benefit.

I am actually going to reduce it to a 2-because I don't think I am going to buy it again.

Well, my bottle doesn't look quite so generic as the one pictured, since they re-designed their product bottles. The stuff is interesting. It is very liquidy-poors in your hand like water, but when you rub it together in your hands, it feels like gel. I wouldn't (and don't) use this by itself. I smooth it through my hair before scrunching my hair with gel and it works oookay. No clumping though. Disappointed in that.

I had a terrible experience with this gel. It left my hair extremely stringy and crunchy.

I liked this one. Easy-to-use gel.

Sticky. Not enough hold for me.
