This gel just might be a holy grail...It clumps my curls, makes them shine, holds them through EVERYTHING, doesn't build up, scrunches out IF needed, and can be refreshed with a spritz of water. The reason why it gets 4 curls is because I MUST use a leave-in under it (Vo5 Moisture Milks Strawberry) or it will be VERY crunchy and makes my curls a bit stringy. But this is a great products. It is a good price for how long it lasts me. (I use about a dime sized amount for my shoulder length, 2C, fine, low-med porosity hair)

This product is absolutely amazing. It is the one product that I use every time I style my hair and I always make sure I have extra bottles. This product has become a HG in my house, both for my 2b waves and my fiancee's 3b ringlets. Amazing definition and zero frizz. A must have product!

Love it. Can be a little pricey, depending on where you buy. Has of course a strong hold which is great (I prefer this over LALSG because it doesn't stink and the protein doesn't seem to bother me too much). I'll repurchase in the future.

I have 2a hair. Very fine, very thin, and damaged (breaking and split ends), my hair loves humidity, but I live in a desert. When summer comes, my hair gets flat and fly away. I've been trying all sorts of things to help it out, and picked up Rock Hard Gelee on a whim. (I was ok with LA Looks Sport, but you know how it is when you're a PJ. You just have to try everything at least once!) This was amazing! LA Looks is being sent to the cornfield! This revived my curls, gave me volume, and lasted all day, even through a three hour nap! :) It is sticky. So sticky that while putting it in my (dry, not damp) hair, my hair would cling to the product on my hand and lift up as I pulled my hands up and away. However, it didn't dry sticky, and my hair has almost no crunch. (I did my hair upside down first, and then right side up, using about a 1/4 of the product for each of those two sections.) I wish I could give this 20 curls! 2A girls, give it a try, use small amounts, and see if you love it as much as I do!

This gel is amazing! I don't use a lot, I use a different gel (with less hold) or cream underneath and then use a quarter sized dollop of BRHG and I get great hold and plenty of shine. It doesn't dry very crunchy at all and even then it's really easy to SOTC. This seems to make my curls extra "boingy".

I LOVE this stuff. I've been CG for probably close to two months; this is my favorite thing yet. I can't say enough how happy I am I got this. I was hesitant because of other reviews saying it's such a hard holding, crunchy gel. And I was worried it would give me a wet hair look all day, which is not something I like. But, with more reading I decided maybe I needed a harder hold gel, and for my hair, this is amazing. My hair takes forever to air dry anyways, so once that was done I just scrunched a little and voila! my hair is soft, SHINY and still has a GREAT hold. I'm amazed! I have been having such a problem with frizz recently, but now--gone! Oh, it's amazing! I use quite a bit on top of a bit of left in conditioner. I have 2b, maybe more 3a if it wasn't so long, hair. My hair is fine/normal, and definitely low porosity. If your hair is like mine, TRY THIS GEL, and hopefully you will love it as much as i do!

I purchased this at Target yesterday and tried it for the first time this AM. I used this alone/ no mixing with other product, but used a dime size on three separate sections to soaking wet hair/ scrunched with tshirt and then diffused until mostly dry as I usually do. It left my hair more crunchy than the Fructis Pure Clean gel that I normally use, but the crunch was not as easy to scrunch out - just took longer. The curl definition is great so far, but hair is not as soft looking as it is with the Fructis gel that I'm calling my HG product for the moment. I will try mixing this with the Fructis to see how the two work together. Overall, this seems to be pretty good based on the one time of using the product. Perhaps using a bit less would yield less crunch, but I used basically the same amt as I would with other gels.

Good product with awesome hold! I add a little bit of it to other gels, and that tiny added amount is definitely visible in the end results i get! A little bit pricy but since you need so little of it, it lasts forever ^.^ Due to its holding strength, it definitely dries very crunchy -but I dont mind this since i simply use some coconut oil to scrunch out the crunch. However, for others this crunchy characteristic may be a deal breaker! Frizz control is very good but definitely not perfect, the second day hair I attained from it was definitely better than other gels I have used. In the end id definitely recommend this product! :D

I gave this 3 curls for one reason only, it works great to mix a TINY amount into my homemade flax seed gel to really up the hold of it with out compromising the texture of the FSG. Otherwise I hated it, Even mixed in with a light to medium hold curl cream or gel on days when I think I will need more hold, it definately gives me more hold.. extra super mega hold that I can not scrunch out completely even with an oil or leave in. The name says it all.. this stuff is ROCK HARD.

amazing product. works wonders when used with biosilk silk therapy. dont have to use too much so the price is worth it. i have looked for ages to find a product this good! i wish more places sold it in the uk

I've been wanting to try this for so long but kept putting it off because of all the parabens in it. This definately holds your style all day but for my cherub or 2b fine curls it made my curls stringy without any clumping. It might be good to graze over the top of the canopy in humid weather, but overall too heavy for my fine hair. I much prefer Biotera gel.

While I love the hold and shine this gives my curls, I find that it makes my hair feel a little producty. I can't use it too many days in a row.

This gel gives really nice shine and hold. Be careful not to use too much-- it is very strong, and it can make hair super hard and crunchy. It is a nice complement to softer hold gels and creams.

This is by far the best product I have used. I applied this product all summer, and my curls looked gorgeous. It held up in all weather, and every time I left the house and went to the store, I received compliments on my hair. After summer though, it didn't seem to work nearly as well when I was in school. I've tried it again, and it is working the same magic as it did this summer. It is a little bit crunchy, but I prefer my hair to have a little crunch to it.

3B/3C I just used this gel for the first time today and got the best hair day I've had in a long time! Hardly any frizz, easy crunch to scrunch out,well defined,bouny,curls. Love it! My husband even complemented my hair and it takes alot to get that out of him! L.Deon

This gel and Aveda Flaxseed and Aloe are my absolute favorites! I can see how this gel may be too much for some, but with my big, thick, coarse curls it's simply amazing. It has a great hold, and not a crunchy hair noodle in sight. Oh, and it lasts all day too. Great stuff!

This gel over Curlkeeper are my HG stylers for summer here in Austin. I brush through the CK, apply the BRHG, then brush it through again. Scrunch with flour sack towel to get the curls forming, then plop in microfiber turban for about 10-15 minutes. Diffuse for about 5 minutes total, then I'm out the door. Works every single day (although I do experiment on weekends) - definitely my "go to" routine for the heat & humidity.

It may be a little too much for the winter, but it is my go-to gel for the summer. I use SheaM as a leave-in before applying the BRHG. I have been getting amazing curls with this gel. No frizz and 2nd day hair !! I never get 2nd day hair !!! The SheaM does help cut down on some of the crunch, but if it is still crunchy, I'll use a little Jane Carter Nourish & Shine and I'm good to go. Can't say enough about this gel - definitely one of the best!

HG! This is the most amazing gel I've ever used and I can't find ANYTHING that even comes close to it. It elongates my curls and makes them SUPER shiny. The hold is incredible. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the price--it's a small tube for $13, but the product is amazing so I'll pay it! Can't say enough good stuff about this gel.

Well, I should have known what this product was going to be like from its name: Rock Hard. It left my curls way too crunchy!!

Love the hold with this gel. No frizzies whatsoever. Can get crunchy, but scrunches out very easily. My HG gel.

This is a product that gives me good volume and fullness. Best applied in soaking wet hair or with some conditioner (or leave-in). It's not an everyday product for me, but like the Abba W8, it's nice when I really some volume.

Good hold in humidity, but made my hair feel very producty and looked dull.

Love this gel! I use it over top of the KMS Californa curlup hot spiral spray. The two together give me lots of curls and hold. It can dry a bit crunchy but I then use the Deva Curl "Set it Free" spray and scrunch out the crunch.

I have become a big fan of this gel. It gives good definition and little frizz for my very thin 2c/3a should length waves. However, 2nd day hair is better with Biolage Gelee.

This stuff is awful. My hair was truly "Rock Hard" and it left my hair with flakes.

I didn't see the big deal with this gel. It dried crunchy, and I couldn't scrunch it out without destroying the curl pattern. I know my curls are very fine and picky about what I put on them, so it might just be my hair. Herbal Essences gel worked just as well, if not better, for less than a third of the price.

Love this stuff! It smells very good (rosewater) and if I put it on over a leave-in it doesn't get too crunchy. I didn't give it a 4 because it's one of the crunchier products I've used and it's kind of tricky to apply (I have to water it down a bit to distribute it through my hair without pulling the curl out).

Very good as long as I mix it with a conditioner in my hand before I put it in my hair. Too hard hold and feels stiff if I use it alone.

After reading so many great things in the curlmunity boards, I had such high hopes for this gel. Unfortunately it made my hair horrible! Yes, the gel gave me great curl formation for my 2b strands but the extreme hardness and not to mention tons of tangles the gel also produced made it so not worth it. My hair is already coarse and this did not help. I tried watering the gel down, using less and of course the "scrunching"- all BLAH! If I scrunched after my hair was dry, the crunch didn't come out fully. If I scrunched when partially dry, I got frizz and limpness. Plus, the tangles were horrible. Leaving this gel in my hair literally HURT! You really get what the name on the tube says. Perhaps this would work better on someone with softer hair? Biolage Gelee soo much better!

FABULOUS gel. great hold, with crunch that is easily scrunched out. this gel allows me to "do" my hair at night and go to bed with wet hair. when i wake up in the morning i have great curls with minimal frizz. it also is great for me when i diffuse, as it minimizes diffusing frizzies. works well against humidity. is CG-friendly and gives me a natural look and feel (after i scrunch out any crunch). only drawback is it's a little pricey, but it's nice that i don't have to order online.

This is the best gel for a great hair day in high humidity weather. It saved my summer hair! It has a very strong hold and can be mixed with lighter gels. Must be well distributed or can end up crunchy. All in all, I am just so grateful for this product that I see no flaws!!

I've been using this gel on and off for years. It has amazing hold (I wouldn't say it's rock hard) and while it can get a bit crispy when it dries, it is easily scrunched out. This is one of the absolute best gels for blocking out humidity. I can use it in the dead of summer here in South FL and my hair stays frizz free. This gel is also silicone free for those on the CG routine.

A strong gel for serious control. Good for shorter, more styled, sculpted 'dos.
