I am in love with how this product smells.Plus it added great moisture to my hair and helds my curls all day without any flaking
I love the smell and ingredients are good. I use it for a wash and go and put a leave in conditioner on before applying. Great curl definition, shrinkage which I expected, and my hair didn't feel crunchy.
Wow! I used this to twist my hair and I was really surprised at how my hair held up with this product. It provides great hold and my air was not hard. The smell is pleasant in my opinion. I recommend it!
This is a great product....I can tell from the first use the strength it gave to my hair after I color treated my hair. This product added moisture and elastic to my hair....I would recommend the product line to anyone. And the smell is lovely .
This is a great product!!! I first used it on unwashed hair that had different products on it and it left a little flakeyness (spell check), I didn't fret I washed my hair and tried again. It actually gave a great shime and moisture to my hair, which is hard to get when I style my thick can't get right hair (which I love by the way),My twist out came out great! I also tried on my daughters hair and she loved it. It smells really nice and give a great shine.
I'm absolutely in love with this product and it is definitely being added to my regimen. It gave my curls a lot of moisture and a lot of shine. My hair felt a lot softer and was able to hold the curls for a few days. I plan to recommend this product to my other natural hair friends with thick, stubborn hair like mine.
I really liked this product, especially on my daughter's natural hair. It keeps her curls shiny and smooth. No flakes, yummy smell, and good consistency. I found that it was easy to use and there was no build up in my daughter's hair or mine. I've been using it daily on her hair and I also use it when I braid her hair in the mornings.
What a treat it was to try this. I'm a 3C and was worried that it was just another colorful jar of bad ingredients. Water, Aloe Baredenis Leaf Extract, Vitamin E, Panox Ginseng Root Extract and Rosemary Extract make up the first five ingredients and I was truly amazed at such a powerhouse of great ingredients. Easy to use, spread and left my strands crunchless and soft. The real key was the next day. No crunch, no feeling of build-up. The only reason I couldn't give it a 5 star rating was when used with another product on my hair it felt like a bad combination and wouldn't leave my strands easily when I had to wash but when only using it by itself there was not that issue.
As a 4c natural, I do not have a defined curl pattern. That shake and rake trick doesn’t work for my hair so I used the product to do two strand twists instead. I did like the results to some extent. The scent was quite lovely and the product was lightweight. My twist out was banging but the product didn't impart any shine whatsoever and it wasn't moisturizing.
I wanted to like this product so bad. I tried it on my daughters hair. She has 3a curly hair. The product went on good and easy. Smell wasn't my favorite. Smelled like a tropical drink (not bad for a cocktail, but bad for a 9 year olds hair). She had a wet and curly look that looked good for THAT day. Her coils held and it looked beautiful. Now afterward, was the problem. By the end of the night FLAKES FLAKES FLAKES. Spritzing with water didn't help. A little oil and water didn't help. There were flakes all over the car and the house. If you plan on doing the wet look, this product will help you achieve hold and look, but do not plan on it lasting a second day. Be prepared to wash your hair. Maybe if you are the kind of person to co-wash everyday or every other day, this product is for you. Update- I used the curl definer as a gel for my 3 yr old daughters twists. I was not going to do a twist out so I decided to try it. The twists lasted for almost a week. The hold was excellent. They looked neat and tidy. I think that I can use it for her since she has less hair than my 9 year old.
I wanted to like this custard, because it's light, and smells delicious. Unfortunately, it left me looking like an 80's throwback, to the days of the "wet look." My curls were very nicely defined and shiny, but no amount of scrunching would get rid of that wet look. I had shrinkage and my curl pattern was different. It was reminiscent of a poodle.
I have never tried any of these products before this and had no idea what to expect. Pros: This has a pleasant smell, provides great hold while still being touchable, manageable, soft and natural. I feel it allows my hair to be in its naturally curly state without being fluffy, puffy, frizzy or wild. My hair still has volume as this is not heavy, which I am very pleased about. It is not greasy and doesn't leave any residue on my clothing or on me. I don't have to use hairspray with this product, which in turn encourages more healthy hair. It doesn't flake off or look unsightly when dried and handled. All in all, I very highly recommend this product. The only flaw is the packaging. If this were in a tube, or if it came with some sort of applicator so I don't have to dip my fingers into it, it would be flawless. However, this did not change my rating of the product, as the product itself was phenomenal. I am looking forward to continue using and enjoying this product.
I'm in deep love with this product! I switched to this after being in "like" with Miss Jessie's Coily Custard. I'll never go back! I like that there is hold like a gel, but I don't get the same build up. Also just a heads up, I use a leave in underneath of it so I don't get the shrunken crunchy mess
It gave my hair a nice, natural hold. It didn't leave my curls crunchy feeling or a weird white foam like other alcohol gels do. Only complaint is that is smells like rubbing alcohol.
I have 3b/c hair, with low porosity and high density. I have been natural for 16 months with a/b an inch or two or relaxed ends. After pre-pooing my hair all night with coconut oil, I wash my hair with my regular shampoo and conditioner then put this on for a wash and go style. This made my hair stiff and crunchy with a lot of shrinkage. It made my hair curl into little tight curls. I was not happy with the results. I have used it before with the BT moisture butter doing a two-strand twist style. Came out better that way. If you use this I strongly suggest using something with a lot of moisture to have soft curls. Otherwise it will be hard, and the white flakes were in visible. I will not purchase it again.
The product definitely helps with definition but not as much with the hold as I thought it would.
I thought I was familiar with all products in the BT line, but ran across this over the weekend while in Sally's. I figured, for the cost, why not give it a try. By mixing a little of the curl control defining pudding in with it, I twisted my hair Saturday evening, sat under the dryer and left the twists in all day Sunday. I did notice it dried hard Saturday night, but had faith that my twists would soften up overnight (as I'd had that experience with some other products) and they definitely did . My twists were bright, shiny and bouncy all day Sunday. I did notice a few small streaks of white in some areas. Not sure if I used too much product in those areas or failed to blend it in all the way, but this was easily resolved by sort of scratching the flakes away; not much work and nothing too serious. Monday morning I rubbed argan oil on my finger tips and took my twists out. The curl definition was incredible and I love the bounce and shine of my twists and no flakes. That being said, I'd be interested to see how this works for my WNGs. As of now I'll say I would definitely purchase this again, though the jar is so large, I know it will be a long time before I actually have to repurchase. 4 curls because there are several other products I use that don't dry into white streaks/flakes even when I use too much in some areas; this should be corrected. Update: This product kept my curls crazy defined for 1 week. Would have been longer except it was wash day. Also, after using the product again over the weekend, no white streaks/flakes at all - likely "operator error" on the first go round - so it gets all 5 stars from me, especially for best definitiion!
Definitely helps with curl definition but it left my daughter hair with white flakes every where, wouldn't recommend it.
This was my first experience with a custard. It added moisture and definition, but lacked long-term hold for me. I tried both air drying and diffusing and found better results after diffusing, but the waves just did not last. Even though this lists wavy as a texture it works for, I think it is really not meant for my fine, 2a waves.
I had another chance to test out and review the Curl Defining Custard again from naturallycurly. I have to say, I still do not like using this product because right when after I had used it for a wash n go I had noticed the flakes which I cannot stand!! Later on in the day, my hair felt crunchy, and hard. The next day, it was dry and I had noticed more flakes. The flakes was all over my blouse. Also, It did not give my hair any moisture at all. The only good thing about this product is that it do give me good curl definition.
