I have 2C hair so my hair likes very light products or small amounts of heavier products. With this product I had to use a very very small amount in order to keep from weighing my hair down, and I rubbed it well between my hands to warm the product and apply it lightly throughout the ends of my hair. I definitely wouldn't apply this near the scalp, but it did work well for the ends of my hair.
This is an interesting product. It is VERY thick and should be kept away from your actual scalp. I used it on my 3b/3c curls as a sealer and it weighed down my curls and reduced shrinkage and frizz. The only draw back is that is very think and waxy. I think this is best used on humid days to keep your curls under control.
Actually gave me a pretty good twist out a la the "twist out with hair grease!" trend on youtube ;) got 3 day hair with this product. the key is to use even LESS than you think you need. smells pretty good. wouldn't put this on my scalp though.
This balm is the 4th step to the Ultra Shea line. The first time I used it, I used way to much for my 3a curls and my hair looked greasy. I gave it a second try and used a quarter size amount to cover my whole head. I was much happier with the results, and my curls looked both defined and soft. I even had friends comment that my curls looked nice and shiny. This is a great product for frizzy hair that needs to be tamed, but remember a little goes a long way.
