This sealer was just "OK to me. It gave my hair some shine without being greasy. I used a Maxi-Glide (steam heat) instead of a flat iron on rough dried hair. I used it again a couple of days later when I had to flat iron my ends to "curl" them. My hair didn't frizz, even though I take hot steamy showers and often forgot to wrap my hair at night. It did get a bit puffy at the roots; but that's to be expected. The product isn't greasy but my hair felt a bit sticky/tacky. I think that was due to the leave-in. I washed my hair using the Straight Finish cleanser, applied the leave-in and put my hair in 2 braids to dry overnight. It was a bit sticky the next day so I re-washed and put the leave-in in once again. I got the same stickiness. My mom used the product and she did not experience this. Overall the product is OK. I probably wouldn't buy it because I get the same results using Grapeseed Oil when I straighten.
The sealer is very light weight and made it easy to pass the flat iron through my hair. I also liked the smell very much. The downside is my hair began to frizz up rather quickly and I was not able to wear my hair straight as long as I would have liked to. In conjunction with some other products to help retain more moisture, I think the sealer would work better for me. It definitely left my hair feeling light and not greasy and did not leave much residue on my flat iron as well.
This sealer was just ok to me, I read some reviews first so I knew not to be heavy handed. I think that the motions line would be more effective in the colder months because it could not stand up to the humidity at all. My hair started to revert after being outside for only a few hours. The pro of this sealer is that if your hair usually gets hard and stiff from keratin, you will have soft and shiny hair.
Smell good & Does what it's supposed to do....help keep that dreaded humidity out of those pressed straight tresses. Straightened my hair is not something that I do very often, but this product line is something that makes me feel comfortable straightening my hair myself at home.
love the smell of sealer it controlled my frizz for most of day, would use again. amiemurphy
I used this alone and with the system (cleanser, leave-in conditioner and this). I used this and air dryed my hair (no straightening) and was OK with the frizz protection; my waves/ curls looked good. BUT even just one pump is TOO much product - I have short hair but a lot of it (fine hair just a lot). I was happy with it when I straightened my hair - no frizz BUT it looked TERRIBLE the next day. I like to straighten my hair when I don't want to fuss around with my hair for at least a few days. This did not work for that at all. But I'm still happy having this in my hair arsenol.
My hair is low density. The Sealer was too heavy for me. lol A lot comes out the pump at once, which actually isn't necessary. It did help my hair blow-dry and flatiron straight. But if you use very small sections and comb - chase method with your flat iron you should not need "help". I like this product line better for my Wash & Go's then my actual straight hair days.
On the bright side, the sealer wasn't heavy and didn't weigh down my hair. On the down side, I honestly don't think it helped very much with straightening. It was just as frizzy if not more afterwards.
Of the three products in the line this one is my least favorite, but it was still incredibly useful. The pros are that it is a very lightweight formula that didn't leave my hair feeling greasy, it left a nice shine on my hair, it helped retain moisture, and it has a soft, pleasant sent to it. The only con is that I don't think it really helped at all when it came to hold. My hair began frizzing right up again shortly after I finished straightening.
I enjoyed trying the Straight Finish Sealer . A little goes a long way. However, this product wasn't as effective for my hair type (4C) as I expected. My hair was frizzy and converting within a few hours especially being outside. I anticipated long flowing luscious hair but I ended up with a Tracy Ellis Ross look which I didn't mind but once I stepped outside, I could feel the wind slowly changing my texture back to it's original state. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed seeing and feeling my hair straight, I just wish there was longevity in the results I had. However during the week that my hair was straight, I did appreciate the softness and the ability to now manage my coarse hair. I will be using these products again in a few months as a treat for my self. I did receive minor heat damage from using these products but not to the point I'll be completely deterred from trying them again. Maybe adding more conditioner and sealer may do the trick.
All other serums weighed my hair down but this product didn't do that. My hair felt silky smooth, practically hardly any coarseness. My daughter, who has tighter coils, received the same results with hardly any frizz.
The sealer comes in a easy to use bottle. Its very light weight on my hair after after applying it to my hair and flat iron it. My hair stayed straight for about a hr to hr and a half. After that my hair frizz back up
This is an ok sealer, super light weight and didn't weigh my hair down. It has a light scent not over powering. The directions read to use 2-4 drops, maybe I just gotta big head because I used 2-4 drops per section of my hair. The only reason it got a 3 is because it didn't seem to help my coarser 4a hair but worked really nice on the front (3b) hair.
Initial feel of my hair was greasy but that went away the following day. My hair had body and wasn't stiff or weighed down.
I like the easy to use bottle. However, the directions say to use 2-4 pumps throughout hair and that just didn't seem like enough. The Sealer was very light and didn't weigh my hair down. After flat-ironing, my hair starting puffing/frizzing within 30 minutes which was very disappointing. I have used oils and other products to flat-iron my hair with much better results while still maintaining my curls afterward. I believe this is a great protectant because my curls bounced right back after washing my hair, but my goal was to have a nice looking style and what I ended up with was a mass of frizzy hair (even inside my air-conditioned house). For it's protective value, I would definitely recommend this product line, but if you are looking for silky straight hair (which I have been able to achieve since going natural) you may need to use something in addition to the this product line. I think my hair in particular needs something a bit heavier. I will definitely keep trying with this product line because I think I can make it work with some tweaking and the prices are pretty good. :-)
Yeah I wasn't too keen on applying to my dry hair, I had been repeatedly told by other naturals you should apply your heat protectant while your hair is still wet. So you can imagine my reluctance to follow the directions here, but I did. It didn't leave my hair and forehead feeling greasy which I liked. The whole time I was flat-ironing my hair though I saw smoke and was freaked out by it. I hope when I next wash my hair that I haven't done any damage to it (cross your fingers for me). I think the next time I use this, I will change it up and use it on wet hair then blow dry and straighten my hair. We'll see!
First, for the leave-in, i mistakenly reviewed it as a 3, it's (the leave-in) is definitely a 4.5 for sure (i feel I would run through a bottle really fast since i've got thick hair). Now, for this one, I did a few tests on my hair and my sisters' since I'm not fond of applying heat.........my hair got burnt. Now maybe it's just me, so it's good that I did a test first. I'll definitely be holding off on this one. I might try it again later once I'm over the trauma, lol. But for now, because I like giving things 2 shots, I'll hold off a fixed number....
This sealer provides good heat-protection and lots of shine. I used a lot of this product and didn't find it to be greasy at all. Heat-protectants tend to weigh my hair down and this product did not. And while it did a good job of making my hair look hydrated and almost frizz-free, the results were short-lived. I have to keep reapplying throughout the day. The past few times I've used this line of products, the weather hasn't been optimal (temp 74 F & dew point 64 F) . Under these conditions, the products do just an okay job.
This product was my least favorite of the whole line,it didn't seem to keep my flyaways from going crazy.I didn't feel it worked as good as some of my other heat protectors or sealants.Plus it made my hair a bit oily. I loved the other 2 products, but this one did not work well on my hair
This product made my coarse hair soft and gave it a lot of shine. I used the product as directed and the results were satisfactory. I do believe that my hair would have looked more finished if I used a quality flat iron or implemented the chase method. My hair did slightly revert before my next wash. It shrunk about 50% by day 3 but it was still very stretched, soft, shiny and required minimal detangling. I was able to squeeze 5 days before I washed my hair today. (I have a scalp condition) My hair reverted back in its natural state.
Although it did protect my hair from heat damage this product just wasn't for me. Didn't give my hair shine at all. I might try all of the products again just with a mixture of some of my own hair straightening products to see if I could get better results.
Tried the motions straight finish system. My hair was straight for the weekend, and I did get my curls back after washing but not as tight as they were before I did the system. My curls are much looser now. I won’t be trying this again. I love my curls and I don’t want to take the chance of loosing them to damage. I got pics to show.
