About the Author

Danielle Allen (Alohakiwi)

Three years ago I decided I wanted to stop straightening my hair because it was starting to be too much work. However, I immediately started using texturizers instead as I thought it would make it easier to wear my hair curly. Turns out it was not so, as I had no idea what I was doing.

More a year and half ago I stopped putting texturizers in my hair. In 2009 I discovered NaturallyCurly.com and YouTube hair vloggers. The very first video I posted on my YouTube channel (Alohakiwi) was asking other vloggers for help and opinions on how to style my hair. From that day forward I have been making videos about product reviews and other random tidbits to share to the world. Which turned me into a product junkie!

Recently I started a personal blog chronicling my hair woes and other musings called Alohakiwi’s Shopping Addiction. It is in the beginning phase but I hope it grows into bigger and better things. If I can help just one person realize they can manage their curls, then I have accomplished my goal.

I have a B.S. in Social Science and a Masters degree in International Management in which I focused on International Marketing. One day I hope to land a job in the beauty market traveling the world.
